so today I'm going to be doing a quick unboxing of a new product from ATI this
0:04
is the the direct X11 radon 5450 so the
0:08
5450 is pretty much a step down from the
0:12
5600 series now ATI has been doing
0:15
everything they possibly can it seems to release as many direct X11 cards as
0:21
possible they are getting their whole lineup launched top to bottom and so
0:25
this represents what is currently the bottom for their direct X11 card so this
0:30
is a 512 Meg card you can see that here it has DVI VGA and HDMI outputs so it
0:37
would be suitable as a media card if you wanted to Output to your TV and it has 1
0:40
gig of hyper memory now hyper memory isn't something that we've seen for uh a
0:44
little while but I mean ATI also hasn't released a new low-end card for a little
0:48
while so hypermemory basically allows it to take use of your to make use of your
0:53
system memory as well as the memory that's actually built onto the card so
0:57
here's a quick uh rundown of the basic expects I'm not sure if you can read
1:01
that so I'll help you it's a 5450 it's PCI Express 2.1 40 nanm process
1:06
technology direct X11 Shader Model 5 etc
1:10
etc I mean even with the gaming features that this car does have I wouldn't
1:13
expect to be doing a whole lot of Hardcore gaming on it it is meant more
1:17
as you know what and I've totally missed this it is meant more as a power saving
1:22
green sort of initiative so one thing that ati's new 40 NM D radon 5000 series
1:29
cards have done very well is they have made they have really cut down on the
1:33
amount of power that they use when they're idling or when they're not
1:37
actually processing 3D images so let's
1:40
just see what we have for accessories here first of all we have a quick
1:43
installation guide okay so they show you how to install the graphics card into
1:48
the slot plug in plug in a p power at
1:51
the back I can't imagine this having a six pin PCI Express plug on it but I
1:55
guess we'll find out in a moment and then inside the quick installation guide
1:59
you will find a driver DVD don't use that just download the latest ones off
2:03
ati.com all right so let's get this open here
2:08
here is the 5450 itself that is everything that's in the box so there's
2:12
not a whole lot included in terms of accessories which in theory I guess you
2:17
won't really need because you can see
2:20
that the card includes pretty much all of the outputs that you'd want display
2:23
part hasn't really caught on yet so whether you're running a digital monitor
2:28
for with DVI your TV HDMI or an old CRT
2:32
monitor VGA or really old LCD I suppose
2:35
would also need VGA you should be pretty much covered now this card is passively
2:39
cooled which is great for a low power
2:42
card because that means a okay you're not getting a whole lot of heat put out
2:46
of it so that means that heat put heat output from this card so it means it can
2:51
be passively cooled and it also means that it's great for media applications
2:55
because you're not going to have additional little noisy fans going in
2:58
your PC it's also Al one fear point of failure I've seen so many low-end
3:02
graphics cards fail over the years and the only thing that died was the little
3:06
whiny fan on it so that's the only thing that's wrong with it but they're so hard
3:10
to find a replacement for so that's kind of long- winded but yeah I love passive
3:14
cards for that very reason this uses PCI Express 2.1 as they mentioned on the box
3:19
so that's a standard PCI Express 16x connector you can see a couple of RAM
3:24
chips at the back and I believe yeah there are a couple RAM chips not sure if
3:27
you can see through there if I angle just right there a couple RAM chips in
3:31
there as well as the GPU itself so thank you for checking out my unboxing of the
3:35
powercolor Radeon 3450
