0:01 L show is not here lus dropped the couch
0:05 even though he's not here Austin probably would have helped me carry it the whole way oh I would totally yeah
0:09 definitely sure okay the sound part is probably done fresh books yeah fresh
0:14 books is awesome check out freshbooks.com and you have to put Wan in the who sent
0:20 you here part they do some really cool stuff for finances for small businesses
0:24 and other cool things like that also Dollar Shave Club you can use it to
0:27 shave hair on your face and the great doar sh club.com Linus back into the
0:32 show okay so Apple Apple watch Edition
0:35 thing okay so what do you think about just the fact that there's going to be a
0:40 10 to what like $18,000 Apple watch I
0:43 think that is a little insane but I'm
0:46 not too surprised considering it's it's a fashion wear item I'm not surprised I
0:50 don't think anyone should buy it I guess is what because like a lot of the
0:54 different changes that they've been doing since Steve Jobs passed makes me
0:58 not too surprised that they're going this angle um but yeah I just wouldn't
1:02 recommend it to anyone CU it's freaking 10,000 yeah that's I think that's an
1:07 interesting point because like you said like Steve Jobs never really did the
1:11 crazy high premium stuff like this right like yeah Apple products have always
1:15 been expensive more expensive than you know what maybe some people think
1:19 they're they're worth but it's not been anything crazy you know and an average
1:22 Joe could probably save up a little bit and get one exactly and I think that was
1:26 been that's been one of the the big draws of a lot of Apple products I think the iPhone's the Great example because
1:30 it's not really more expensive than most other phones at least if you're on
1:33 contract you you know everything's $200 whether it's you know HTC Samsung iPhone
1:37 so I think it was an interesting thing that everyone can buy an iPhone is the
1:41 exact same kind of like how like the old story of like you can buy a Coke and
1:45 it's the same anywhere it's the same price everyone can afford it so like I thought that was kind of an interesting
1:49 thing but you look at something like the the Apple watch Edition I mean this is $10,000 that's that's
1:54 crazy but I also don't think it's that crazy there are people who buy Rolexes
1:58 and I don't think anyone's going to walk up to you and say you know you kind of overpriced for that overpaid for that
2:03 Rolex you may want to reconsider there's this great Casio that's 15 $15 at
2:07 Walmart I mean I'm saying it just does the same the same things man yeah Casio
2:11 used open source software on this come onz so like I get it like like you said
2:17 I'm not going to buy an Apple Watch Edition that would be insane but I can't
2:21 hate on someone who does I mean there's people who pay you know tons of money
2:24 for like a gold Lamborghini I wouldn't buy one of those either but I'm not
2:27 gonna hate on you for buying one yeah so I don't know it is cool though that
2:31 they're letting you skip the lines I feel like my $10,000 is going to be well
2:35 spent cuz I don't have to stand in line with all the peasants who are buying their thousand watches I don't I don't
2:39 want to be associated with those guys I gotta go straight to the front of line
2:42 wow you sound like Linus right now um yeah and like I guess it's the same kind
2:47 of thing like I would look at a golden Lamborghini and go like wow that seems
2:51 like a very poor investment idea um and
2:54 I would look at a $10,000 Apple watch and be like wow that seems like a very
2:58 poor whatever but I'd also look at and go like oh that's kind of interesting
3:02 I'm not I'm not super personally interested in a golden Lamborghini I'm also not super personally interested in
3:06 $10,000 freaking Apple watch I wouldn't buy either and my mind has them so far
3:11 away from possibilities that I don't even like I don't even want it what did
3:16 you do with it I'm just starting to imagine like wearing a $10,000 watch like I wouldn't like someone sees it
3:20 they would just you know take it off my wrist i' it'd be stolen like a week you
3:24 know you scratch it and go oh that was $3,000 worth of gold I just left on that
3:28 countertop it would be horrifying I wouldn't even want one if I had one it
3:32 would just be like in a case I would I don't know just it's ridiculous to me
3:37 but then again I'm not the kind of guy who would ever buy a $10,000 watch anyway no but if you were do you feel
3:42 like you should be able to cut the line and have an extra 1eh hour private
3:46 consultation with an Apple Watch expert um one of my favorite things is how they
3:50 phrase it the the employees are being told that the journey for buying an
3:55 addition is intended to be extremely personal elegant and purposeful like oh
4:00 God by the way this elegant purposeful
4:04 Journey ends with you giving us a check for $10,000 don't forget that part right
4:08 it's it's super awesome but we want your money I think the bigger question about
4:12 this whole deal I don't I know we don't want to talk about the gold Apple watch for like 30 minutes but what are you
4:17 going to do with this thing next year when there's going to be a new Apple watch that's better like sure I can I
4:21 can see upgrading a phone like every two years right like it's okay it's a few hundred dollars but it's not nothing
4:25 crazy am I gonna have a $10,000 outdated watch a year from now yeah that's that's
4:30 a big thing too because the the Rolex example and the and the lambo example
4:35 like if you have a gardo gardo is still super badass in however many years it's
4:40 completely useless it's completely useless 12 months later dude I don't
4:43 know what you're talking about it doesn't even work anymore like if someone rolls up in a testera or a
4:48 freaking DeLorean okay we got to talk about that in a second um if someone
4:52 rolls up in a tester Roa like that's sick if someone has an old like however
4:57 old Rolex the older probably even the better to be completely honest it's
5:01 super badass this thing is going to be junk
5:05 the second one comes out yeah CU I mean like you said like you look at a Rolex
5:09 it's like such fine like machinery and craftsmanship like it's it's insane and
5:13 you know it does the exact same thing that every other Rolex has ever done it tells time and I mean obviously the
5:18 Apple watch does do more than tell time you got to give it some credit there but
5:21 I don't think it's going to have that same kind of of of Mystique 2 three 5 10
5:27 20 years from now as a really finally machine Rolex will so I don't know yeah
5:33 and like the the new brand new Rolex might be a better dive watch but it's
5:37 going to be just as good as telling at telling time as the new one most likely
5:40 so the Apple watch will be worse very
5:44 very objectively worse than the new one at doing a whole bunch of stuff whenever
5:48 the new one comes out unless they have some kind of like tradein program will
5:51 like they'll upgrade your watch or something which I I mean for $10,000 not
5:55 completely insane but still not like the
5:58 greatest Sol solution to having to send in your $10,000 watch ups every week UPS
6:05 guys like uh this box got lost so how
6:09 much bad sir so this comes with $100 of insurance do you want any more yeah can
6:12 I get $99,900 of insurance
6:16 added okay sure yeah Cas anyone in the chat
6:22 was wondering There's the link I should have posted that earlier that was my bad
6:26 um yeah I guess moving on Microsoft has
6:29 leash project Spartan preview with the next Windows 10 build another thing I
6:33 always warn people when I bring up Windows 10 builds is that there is a key
6:36 logger on Windows 10 I don't know if it's still there it definitely was there
6:40 before yes uh it's it's in the like terms of service or whatever when you
6:44 sign up and it's not there to harvest your password it's there to and like
6:49 they're very open about the idea that it's there and they're not trying to hide it um I don't know if it's still
6:53 there so if some I installed a Windows 10 build and I didn't know anything
6:57 about it so I don't know how open they're being I guess like there is a
7:00 key logger on your system but it's in like it's in the to or whatever you have
7:04 to read the fine print which is stupid I don't think accounts is open I think that's like if you're like what part of
7:09 the 0.01% who read that then I don't know
7:12 that's a little sketchy so what so what it for it's not for like just it it's
7:15 supposed to be there to see how people are using it and if if something breaks
7:20 and you like send the report they would have the key logger data of for the
7:24 report so they can kind of see like okay well they did this stuff and it broke
7:29 okay that makes sense that's what it's supposed to be there for it sketches me
7:32 out so I don't like it
7:35 yeah spart but yeah wo um I don't know
7:41 it's pretty cool apparently it's going to be replacing not completely replacing
7:45 Internet Explorer Internet Explorer will still exist but it will be replacing
7:48 internet Explorer's uh pinned and taskbar positions so pinned in the start
7:52 menu and pinned on the taskbar positions which will pretty much completely
7:55 replace it for a lot of the people that were using ie right and because the
8:00 reason why a lot of people are using yes and that is very true because a lot of
8:05 the reasons why people are using IE was because it was default and in those
8:09 positions right yeah um and it's also supposed to be faster right yeah it's
8:13 supposed to be faster there's a whole bunch of other really cool features like uh annotation notes so you can
8:18 essentially take like a snapshot of a web page but it's still a bit functional
8:22 it's it's not a screenshot you can still click on links and everything and you
8:25 can like draw on it and you can collaboratively mark it up so like if uh
8:31 if I was working on a this is I actually really like this if I was working on
8:35 development of a website I could send someone like I I'm sure they have a word
8:38 for it that I'm not properly calling it but I could send someone this this
8:41 snapshot thing that I'm talking about Mark it up with like okay I I I want
8:45 this padding to be a little bit wider I want this color to change I want all
8:49 these things done um I'm going to work on this part if you can do those we'll
8:52 like Mark it up and then send it to them and it you can still mess with it you can still click on things I think that's
8:57 really cool OB a Google Docs screenshot kind of yeah yeah kind of um it's it's
9:03 locked in time so if there was updates onto that page like if someone did an
9:07 edit or something you wouldn't get that edit right but it's still clickable and
9:11 you'd be able to like watch the embedded YouTube video that might be there or
9:14 whatever which is actually pretty cool I do that so I tried I played around with
9:19 the the very original like project Spartan renderer uh in the first build
9:24 of Windows 10 I did a little bit of a browser test and uh I remember finding
9:27 that that it was it was not a huge difference I don't think it had changed
9:31 any part of Internet Explorer besides the JavaScript side and it was pretty
9:34 much caught up with like Safari and you know Opera and Firefox and chrome so I'd
9:38 be interested to see if it's kind of caught up on the rest of the the browser
9:41 side uh stuff with this newer build because from the early side of what I
9:46 saw it looked pretty decent it looked like it was kind of a browser that I actually wouldn't mind using yeah and
9:51 the Cortana integration is genuinely interesting sorry I'm doing something on
9:55 the computer for a second but um like I like that it's supposed to be the
9:58 personal idea that's actually really cool because and this gets I think
10:03 overshadowed a little bit um but if you
10:07 look on a restaurant's website I was doing this literally today um it it can
10:13 give you essentially quick links to stuff like their menus or if there's
10:16 like Yelp reviews those will be there like everything kind of comes in on the
10:20 side and if I'm like oh uh beat Nick
10:23 beastro this place that I've gone to a few times do they have a breakfast menu
10:27 this is exactly what I was doing um yeah it's like I I I don't know where is it
10:32 okay our food is apparently their menus tab like it it would have been not that
10:36 much easier but easier if it just popped in the side bunch of reviews of their
10:40 food uh where their menus are all that kind of stuff super easy to find I like
10:44 that is Time Savers are great personal assistants are a really cool idea so the
10:49 question is do they actually have a breakfast menu they do but yes when you
10:53 click on the breakfast menu it's just like brunch menu oh that's that's not a
10:58 breakfast menu that's a brunch two yeah it's title it's titled breakfast menu
11:02 you click on it it gives you an image and like on the the image of the
11:07 physical menu that you get it's like brunch menu okay were there like
11:11 breakfasty kind of foods on the brunch menu at least a couple breakfasty kind
11:15 of foods it opens at I think 10 or 10:30
11:18 yeah that's definitely kind of a brunchy sort of thing all right I I'll allow it
11:21 sounds good I'll allow it they can continue to exist yes so far but they
11:27 need to be careful with this brunch nonsense
11:31 anyways the project Spartan preview will be available in build uh
11:36 1049 so 10 that's my favorite build I don't obviously it's 10499 we we hang
11:42 out anyways I need to jump back a little bit and ask you the DeLorean what's up
11:47 with the DeLorean okay so need to know
11:50 so I posted on Instagram last night I think it's the title is like new Whip
11:54 and it was a picture of a DeLorean uh no I didn't actually buy DeLorean so many
11:59 people are like oh dude do a video on it this that I was just at a museum and
12:03 there was a DeLorean there I just took a picture I didn't think anyone would
12:06 believe that I actually bought a DeLorean although I will say that's on
12:10 my bucket list of things that at some point in my life I would like to own a
12:13 DeLorean yeah but that one was like 80 grand and I was not g to spay $80,000
12:18 for DeLorean so maybe when I find like U
12:22 when the Apple watch like when people start trading in their apple watches they might like trade in a DeLorean and
12:26 like I can get it for like a little bit of a better price but uh no DeLorean
12:29 just yet so that's fantastic the reason why I was so excited and the reason why
12:33 I asked was uh my car that I bought when I was like 16 or whatever I rode that
12:37 thing directly into the ground and its engine like partially blew up on a
12:41 bridge and then good job good job thank you thank you it was fantastic when I
12:45 replaced that I had I hadn't been looking into buying cars for a super
12:49 long time so I was like you know what I should try to get a DeLorean and no joke
12:54 that actually happened and I did a whole bunch of research and I like actually
12:58 sourced down some people that had DeLorean and I found some that were a
13:02 lot more affordable than 80 grand um but they wouldn't be as in good shape at all
13:07 right not even remotely so a lot of it was going to take a lot of work
13:11 especially aesthetic work like repairing some of the panels which is not fun what
13:15 is it stainless right yeah so oh yeah well isn't the the uh the company that
13:19 bought like didn't one company buy like all of the parts yeah this giant
13:24 Warehouse full of like brand new DeLorean Parts I think it's like Washington maybe I actually yeah but
13:30 I've seen like the videos of I think it's actually still called I think they bought like the the name like DeLorean
13:33 Motor Company everything like I know they were building like some plug-in
13:37 hybrid versions of like new DeLorean with all the old 80s Parts yeah it's
13:41 really cool I don't know if they've actually done it but I know they were talking about like prototypes and stuff
13:45 so wow I that's pretty sick that would be interesting to pay attention to but
13:49 yeah I just thought it was funny that you posted I wasn't sure if you bought it or not but I was like oh I was
13:53 surprised at how like I felt like most people realized it was a joke but a ton of people thought I was real I was like
13:58 yeah wow okay cool thank I appreciate the vote of confidence and everything
14:02 think I'm that kind of baller who owns a DeLorean thank you guys in advance but
14:06 sadly I don't quite live up to your expectations just
14:10 yet that's awesome what what gave me the
14:13 little bit of thought that it might not have been real was that it was just like that very small section of the car and I
14:18 just felt like if it was actually yours you'd take like a picture from the inside or something oh you feel like a
14:22 lot of thought in this I did I did I got really excited man you you could have
14:26 asked me right well I wanted to ask you on the show
14:29 I I was like because I saw the Instagram post last night and I was like gonna
14:33 send you a message and then I was like I'll just ask live I just took because
14:36 it was parted by like two other cars so I got got got the closest shot I could
14:40 other cars like oh my garage
14:43 guys you should have got it with the two other cars and then said it was your
14:47 Gage oh yeah then you know there's like a Camaro and a Lamborghini all my cars
14:51 don't worry whatever that's cool actually that was lonus say Lamborghini but you know yes yeah he was just
14:54 visiting right anyways next up we have
14:58 the HTC1 uh E9 plus their latest fablet
15:02 with a stunning screen apparently stunning stunning it has a where's its
15:08 DP uh 534 PPI there we go yes 5.5 in
15:12 Quad HD display um although the website
15:16 listed as a 1080p resolution so I think they probably just screwed up because
15:20 that's what the M9 is right yes yeah pretty sure that was just a mess up yeah
15:25 but I mean a 5.5 in 2560 x440 screen
15:29 that's you know it's okay I mean you know it's it's got a couple pixels like
15:33 534 per inch per inch you know if I was
15:36 going to put like a random number like just take a guess 534 is you know um so
15:42 it's half metal and half plastic so this is going to be I guess is this going to
15:45 be a step down from the M9 or is this supposed to be like another
15:48 Flagship uh I I don't know it's interesting they've screwed up a lot of
15:52 their own specs which is frustrating because uh like you said the screen but
15:56 then there's also RAM it's supposed to be 3 GB on website it listed as
16:01 two it's also got a mediatech chipset which yeah kind of tips me off it's
16:07 probably not all that high end yeah and then and then HTC's been doing a lot of
16:11 Full Metal and this is half and half right exactly yeah actually the E if I
16:15 remember right the E Series actually has been like the the step down from the N
16:19 series I think so Mak sense I hope I'm right I don't know that off top of my
16:23 head but that would make a lot of sense considering the plastic and considering the M Tech chip yeah so it's cool
16:29 there's no price or release date or anything yet actually it's I just realized it's 7.49 mm thin thick I feel
16:35 like that's actually quite a bit thinner than the M9 I think it's like somewhere
16:38 in like the eight eight and a half neighborhood I should probably double check what I'm saying before I say it
16:43 but give me one quick second for some reason Nick is calling me I have no idea
16:46 why what's up Nick you're on speak that's a that's a terrible thing your is
16:52 way lower than Aus oh uh oh so yeah just
16:57 wanted to let you know okay thanks Nick
17:00 thank you bye you sound fine on my end
17:03 that's weird yeah I don't know what's going on with that I checked the chat a
17:06 few times and didn't see that H you want
17:09 to turn yours down a little bit okay yeah some people are talking about it I
17:13 don't know why I took them almost 20 minutes they were probably doing the
17:18 whole time I just wanted to bug people but so you want mine down or do you want to turn yours up I can turn mine up a
17:24 little bit I'm try okay I can turn mine down but I don't want to like mess it up
17:27 cuz I'm on Skype right now so skype's automatically changing so I don't know
17:31 how much I can turn it down a little bit I turned mine up a bit um we'll see how
17:36 that goes hopefully that works I'll check in the chat in a little bit uh
17:40 moving on from unreleased a whole bunch of data messed up phones um we have the
17:47 Amazon testing delivery drones in a secret location in Canada which ISR
17:52 DC which is great cuz that's where I'm from and this is awesome and I have no
17:57 problem with it see you guys are like like cheating here right Amazon was
18:00 doing all this kind of cool stuff and then you guys get all their awesome
18:04 drone technology like come on like they they got to share with us like guess FAA
18:09 is being yes the FAA are are being butts
18:12 about it which they might have some good ideas but I'm happy that they're testing
18:15 it here I think that's cool I like how Amazon was just like oh we we'll just
18:19 you know walk upwards a little bit Yeah I wonder is there some other place on
18:23 Earth we could do this exact same testing actually isn't Amazon based in
18:27 like Seattle like isn't that just like that's what I mean like just go up like
18:31 a little bit that's why I said BC there's a lot of reasons why BC is
18:34 probably where this whole secret Center is but BC makes a ton of sense for a few
18:38 reasons um but yeah they they didn't even they probably just drove like drove
18:43 a truck up with some of their equipment they're like all right cool we're here
18:46 testing time yeah that didn't take that long I was talking to a friend of mine I
18:49 was like well even if Canada decides to freak out which they probably won't
18:54 because Canada has essentially been like you can do whatever you want because we
18:58 need more of VI up here um I like it yeah I'm I'm down with that too but even
19:02 if Canada said basically no um Amazon
19:06 could probably just like buy an island and just test them there they already
19:10 have at this point yeah like you're not going to stop them from trying these
19:14 things out just I don't know go with it so so I think it's interesting because
19:18 what they didn't they do the original like that ad was it a year ago or was it
19:22 two something like that it was a while back yeah yeah yeah so I I remember when
19:28 I first saw that it seemed so ridiculous it seemed like there was no way that
19:32 they were actually going to do this but come on but it seems like you you hear
19:36 stuff like this and you know they've said on record yeah this is actually a thing we want to do it might be three
19:41 five seven you know it could be a long time in the future but this is something
19:46 that we're interested in looking in and so I kind of got to thinking about it and the amount of packages that Amazon
19:51 actually ships via UPS FedEx post office that kind of stuff that's got to be
19:55 enormous right like it's got to be just a huge huge amount and I I felt guilty
20:01 on multiple occasions when I buy like a $5 like tube of thermal paste and I have
20:06 it overnighted via Prime to my house like $2 like this totally cost them so
20:11 much more money than it was actually worth I almost feel like kind of guilty
20:15 about when I do that so you think maybe this drone stuff while it still is going
20:19 to be massively impractical and only for like a few places you know even in the
20:23 best case scenario but maybe this is kind of like a way of hedging their bets
20:26 and not giving you know UPS and FedEx piles of money to ship everything all
20:31 over the place that's that's honestly
20:34 probably really good point especially with um looking at what is it called
20:40 give me a second here I'm going to try and find it in the dock but anyways they're releasing these little buttons
20:44 have you seen that oh yeah dash dash yes the dash go buttons or whatever um I
20:50 know it's a transitionary thing until they get something else set up or
20:53 whatever and there isn't a ton of products that it's available for so far
20:56 and some people thought it was an April Fool's joke which it I did I abolo yeah
21:01 CU it was on the 31st and I just I saw a bunch of people tweeting it and like
21:05 that was because people got I guess the last couple years people have been starting April first or April fools
21:09 early so I saw on my Twitter I like whatever I go to amazon.com it's like
21:12 this giant thing right on up front I was like really I so I I signed up um
21:17 because it's free for if you have uh if you're a Prime member I think you can
21:21 get up to three buttons probably should double check that yeah you can get up to
21:24 three buttons um pay after that I have
21:28 no idea what you do after the first three buttons I don't know if they'll even give you more than three um I have
21:32 no idea but I think they yeah you can get up to three um they're for various
21:36 different products so you can get like you know you hit the button and you know
21:40 it'll automatically order you more laundry detergent or diapers or whatever
21:44 I think it's about 18 different products yeah tide Huggies all kinds of stuff so
21:48 you know when when I need more diapers I just hit the button yeah so I know they
21:52 they use the picture of like you put the tide button on your your washing machine
21:58 where do you put these other buttons where where do you put the diaper button where do you put the the toilet paper
22:03 button I just just trying to think of am I going to have a house full of buttons
22:07 everywhere I just want to walk in go I want some of this I want some of this I
22:11 want some of this $300 oops oops yeah oh
22:15 oh oh my oh my I I yeah I don't know I I
22:19 think with especially a lot of the stuff that's in this program the drones would
22:22 make sense the button placement thing is pretty funny I think this isn't going to
22:26 make a ton of sense for people that have like little kids and stuff yeah I think
22:30 there is oh button fun to press $33,000
22:34 all automatically shipped with drones you can't like a pallet of diapers show
22:38 up at your front door you're like H not again yeah yeah I just oh man ridiculous
22:43 and they're like oh yeah if there's if you don't want anymore you can just
22:46 cancel it on your phone I'm like yeah well if it's already at my house I
22:50 didn't know like yeah it emails you or whatever okay I'm at work you shipped
22:54 within an hour cuz you're amazing in Amazon and now I can't cancel my like so
22:59 what I've got the question is what what's the deal with these buttons right they seemed very small so they I believe
23:04 they they connect to your phone right I was wondering about that and
23:09 like I was wondering about battery life and stuff too yeah exactly um and then
23:12 these are pretty much one use buttons right like you use it I don't know a
23:16 year or two use it for a few times and like what the battery gives up and you throw it away that seems kind of a
23:20 little sketchy to me yeah it does seem a little bit ridiculous um it's a cool
23:24 idea but I don't know how practical it's going to be if especially in the long
23:29 run and like I know they've already basically publicly said that it's a
23:33 transitionary piece right um so they're
23:37 planning on having other ways of doing this like I think I think the idea is
23:41 that there's supposed to be a dedicated Dash like uh um wow the scanning code
23:49 that people QR code I think there's supposed to be a dedicated Dash QR code
23:52 in all the products or some other version of a code some scanning bar or
23:55 whatever that your phone can read I think that's the eventual plan but until
23:59 they get a whole bunch of people on that um maybe not going to happen which is I
24:04 don't know a little bit weird but maybe the year year and a half two years might
24:08 oh man I'm going to say tide and that's one of the companies that signed up for this but might tide people over um until
24:15 they actually get this other system implemented yeah and I think on top of
24:18 that you look just a little bit more uh into the future I believe uh H I'm I'm
24:23 going I'm going to say this and it might not be wrong I believe was it Samsung
24:26 was uh the company who said that they want all of their products to be
24:29 connected within the next like five or 10 years so you can imagine you go up to
24:33 your refrigerator and you could have tide or sorry tied Dash built in so you
24:37 can just look through maybe you can even automatically see what youve got and
24:41 like you scan it or whatever and you put it in you know it can keep track of you
24:44 know if your stuff's about to go out a date if you need to you know get some
24:47 more milk or whatever and it can automatically be set in so yeah I definitely feel like dash for a lot of
24:51 reasons is sort of like a a stop Gap like a little bit of a transition
24:55 between you know just having to order stuff on Amazon and not remembering and
24:59 just realizing it's way easier just to go down to the store as opposed to waiting or if it's just something simple
25:03 like your refrigerator automatically orders when you need more eggs or something I think that's kind of where
25:07 this is all headed yeah and speaking of where this is all headed because that
25:11 was basically the best segue I've ever heard another topic that we have um not
25:17 even just that but what you were just talking about IBM new Internet of Things
25:21 unit IBM is investing $3 billion over the next four years to solidify its
25:26 efforts in The Internet of Things space so people like like Samsung like you were just talking about all their
25:30 products need to be connected are very possibly going to work with people like
25:34 IBM IBM is just like massive patent house that just does the back end of
25:38 like everything ever and well that's interesting to think of IBM as a massive
25:42 patent house you know I usually don't I wouldn't think of them like that but you
25:45 know what you're totally right that's actually an interesting way of of looking at it wow I guess that's what
25:49 they are well they've got3 billion doar to to to throw around what over the next
25:53 over the next four years they're a huge company they just don't have a ton of
25:59 almost any any anymore did they get rid of all their consumer focused stuff oh
26:03 dude I can't think of anything off the top of my head that's I know they got rid of their like laptops and desktop
26:08 kind of computer stuff not even that long ago yeah they sold that to Lenovo
26:11 right yeah they moved off hard drives uh
26:15 yeah I don't think sorry servers servers and stuff I guess yeah but that's less
26:19 consumer focused right yeah interesting so I think the interesting thing about
26:23 this is that you look at IBM you look at all these different companies who are
26:26 pouring tons and tons of money there's I don't know I I feel like the
26:31 internet have things and wearables I think a lot of these things although they're separate categories but I feel
26:35 like a lot of these things are kind of converging I remember I was at like a CES I think it was like two or three
26:39 years ago and it was at the Intel uh CES conference and they were talking about
26:43 yeah we can't wait until you know the costom computes basically nothing right
26:47 you can have you know a chip that's able to you know connect to Wi-Fi or Bluetooth or whatever in everything you
26:52 could have it you know it's just it's it's essentially free you tiny tiny tiny
26:56 little chips that you could put everywhere I feel like at first I was like yeah yeah right okay
27:00 uh I'm going to have you know a a Wi-Fi connecting table and all this kind of
27:04 stuff but you hear more and more like stories about this it's like wow this is
27:07 actually kind of happening that's cool I think we'll see yeah yeah i' I've been
27:12 one thing that I always really liked was the what was it like the original was
27:17 wasn't it called the surface way back in the day the Microsoft table Yeah the the
27:20 big table yeah yeah yeah and when they ordered pizza with that thing that was
27:24 so sick the guy was just like I want some pizza and just I think he something
27:28 and threw his credit card on it it just scanned his credit card and pizza showed up I was like that's so cool I want my
27:33 table to be connected why not wasn't Pizza H one of like the very first
27:37 websites that you actually like online order pizza yeah pizza's like the thing
27:41 that drives all technology progress if
27:44 you use a computer today you owe it to Pizza take a little bit but but mostly I
27:50 me guess what the guy who designed that computer you're using right now he
27:53 probably ate a lot of pizza he probably did you're welcome Pizza when I was
27:57 doing a lot more devel helping stuff I I was eating a lot of pizza no seriously
28:02 dude you know what when I make my videos a lot of time I eat pizza oh my God
28:07 that's amazing can't believe this is we found like what is actually driven the
28:11 unifying force of the universe yeah so Pizza Pizza thanks Pizza We Appreciate
28:15 You teenage mut Ninja Turtles they knew it all along oh I found the dash article
28:20 so I'm going to post this in stream like totally nowhere close to when we were
28:23 talking about it but um just in case anyone wanted to uh read up more on that
28:28 there you go I don't know I've had a lot of people telling me that's super stupid
28:32 I don't really think it is I think it's it's fine it might need to be deployed
28:36 in specific ways like if you have a little kid like make sure they can't
28:39 press it um if like like I could see
28:43 myself using them more likely I don't have Prime but maybe it's an interesting
28:47 idea one thing that I'm worried about is that there's not a ton of products on it
28:50 so far right and the but are not programmable from what I've seen they
28:55 all have like their own you know the graphic of whatever brand that you're so
28:59 it's like Gillette or whatever so that button only going to be useful for one
29:02 thing which is a little little weird but little little weird and a lot of the
29:06 brands that they're signing up for are like premium Brands a lot of times I buy
29:09 super Cheapo stuff yeah so Point might not be super useful for me but
29:14 especially like the single home thing where it's like
29:18 one person living there you buy something you're probably going to have
29:21 it for a long time and then once it runs out you're going to be like oh crap I
29:24 haven't thought about this cuz I haven't had to buy it in 2 months so okay being
29:28 able to press the button is kind of cool and then you don't have little kids pressing it and all that kind of stuff
29:31 but I do worry about uh also social
29:35 implications of it my buddy comes over and sees a tide button it's like what's
29:39 that click click click click click click click click click click click it doesn't do anything click click click click oh I
29:44 think you need a better buddy if that's the case yeah I know but like it's I
29:48 don't know it's possible or like yeah yeah if one of my friends happened to
29:53 have kids and came over and their kids were there or whatever and they press it
29:56 like I don't know there's there's weird stuff like that it is it would notify you of course but I don't know it's it's
30:02 I'm I'm really interested to see what people think about this in six months
30:06 after it's released like if people are actually using it what people have to
30:10 say about it all that kind of stuff yeah
30:13 all right moving on so there's the 20th anniversary
30:19 gtx980 yes that is
30:23 oh well the isu's 20th anniversary yes
30:27 so what it clock at actually it's like some insane like clock right out of the
30:30 box right hopefully it's not in the notes for some reason Nick what are you
30:34 doing um I remember reading this earlier today I'm going to try and pick it up
30:39 it's it is it's supposed to be isn't it the fastest out of the box 980 you can
30:43 get I think the whole yeah I believe so actually you know that's weird they
30:47 don't actually have it on the ASUS
30:50 page yet safe mode it's really cool guy
30:55 it's fast just cross fast faster mod which is actually kind of cool which is
30:59 helpful for people if they're doing ln2 which will be probably not many or
31:04 nobody in the audience but it's possible there's an RGB light it looks freaking
31:08 badass and it's supposed be super fast out of the box which is cool hopefully I'll be able to check it out um and let
31:13 people know what's going on 14 phase power design which is actually pretty
31:17 sick um we don't see that that often I think like some of the Kingpin edition
31:21 cards and stuff 14 P power um zero DB
31:25 fan mode although lonus has posted a video on how to do that on pretty much whatever you want yeah don't don't don't
31:30 deal with this stuff just watch the video it's all you actually need to know like these companies can pretend to do
31:34 it but Lion's made the video that's all you really need yeah yeah essentially
31:38 they didn't even release a graphics card until lonus makes a video exactly it's
31:42 it's all because of lonus we all understand it lonus and pizza Make the
31:45 World Go Round yeah basically mainly
31:48 pizza but lonus too yeah lus has to review the pizza
31:53 oh that needs to happen yeah that does need to happen lose uh McDonald's oh
31:58 that was so good that was so good that was awesome
32:02 wasw awesome so there's not a ton else to say other than uh about that card
32:06 until we get it in hand other than that 14 face power design zero DB fan
32:10 technology memory defroster a bunch of stuff for those kind of guys um one
32:14 press V BIOS reload which is actually pretty sick especially if you're going
32:18 to be screwing around a lot um which is
32:21 very probable if you're buying this card yeah um yeah I don't know pretty sick I
32:26 like to test it so hopefully we'll get one and I'll like you guys know later Samsung is launching three more curved
32:31 PC monitors so lonus is probably freaking out about that over in wherever
32:35 the hell he is right now he's been going to many many places I'm going to post
32:40 this in the chat as well I'm doing a better job of that right now um I'm a
32:44 little bit disappointed that I think they're all 1080p yes so it's a 24 in a
32:50 27 inch and a 31 in yeah so they started
32:54 300 bucks so I think that's by far the cheapest curve monitor right
32:58 right I'm not entirely sure about that you're probably right as far as I off
33:02 the top of my head I think you're right but I haven't checked that so I don't know I'm I'm good at saying things and
33:06 then like half second after I say it's like oh I'm actually not sure about that
33:10 yeah yeah that's the cheapest I think
33:13 maybe probably my favorite thing to say is that's just a theory though that's
33:17 just a theory I need to use that I need to use that um anyways I I'm a little
33:21 bit disappointed that the 1080p just because the curve monitors that I've
33:24 tried in office that were 1080p were
33:27 felt worse than a flat T um I think just
33:31 cuz I noticed the resolution more um but
33:35 the the like Ultra rides that we have that are 1440p and above are super crisp
33:39 and very nice so yeah I don't know I'm sure lius is going to try and get his
33:44 hands on some of these so we'll probably see a review of that and he's done way
33:48 more work with the new monitors than I have so I'm sure he'll have something to
33:51 say about them being 1080P or not um
33:55 they've been bragging about the the I mode and the just natural eye saving eye
34:00 fatigue saving stuff of curved monitors I've never had a problem with that yeah
34:05 I have a whole bunch of monitors all the time so I don't know my need to be saved
34:09 apparently yeah yeah I don't I don't I don't know but that that's one thing
34:13 I've been thinking about too is like it's it's a I'm I'm going to always turn
34:17 my whole head so I don't know I I'll be I'll be looking directly at that monitor
34:22 or I'll be looking directly at this monitor oh right right my eyes are
34:26 usually facing straight forward I'm not like looking out of the corner of my eyes at thing all the time things huh
34:32 okay which I think might be what they're talking about it might not be I don't know but the ey saer mode specifically
34:37 decreases the amount of blue light emitted by the displays not the I I know
34:41 they're talking about the natural curved can save your eyes um that way but the
34:45 ey saer mode is reducing the natural blue light Sent up displays which is
34:49 interesting speaking of different colors of light um I don't know why I'm
34:52 bringing this up right now but in fire engines they illuminate the cab with red
34:56 um not just cuz it's a fire engine but because red doesn't um change your pupil
35:02 seriously yeah so you can look directly into red light and nothing will really
35:05 happen all right that sounds like really dangerous advice it's not good it's not
35:11 like don't don't take a laser pointer and be like look nothing's going to happen that's stupid don't do that um
35:16 but that's interesting though so red light is is easier on your eyes then yes
35:21 and when I bought my car I was super disappointed cuz I had heard that blue
35:24 light wasn't good and mine is Illumina
35:27 by a blue light and I was like what are you doing why did this happen that is
35:32 ridiculous just put like red tape over all the blue lights in your car like
35:35 there done but that's why that's why if you've heard of them there's a program
35:40 for Android phones I don't know if it's on iPhone or not Android phones uh
35:44 called Twilight and there's a program on desktop for Windows and probably Mac as
35:49 well um called f.lux or just flux I
35:52 always say flux yeah flux yeah both those oh so you're aware both those
35:56 programs will will increase red light oh yeah I guess that is what they
36:01 do isn't it yeah yeah I've heard of and increase red light so it's easier to
36:05 look at yeah I just stare at really bright blue screens 24/7 so yeah yeah
36:11 you know yeah me too I I tried uh flux
36:15 and then after a while I was like H I'm just going to stay up till 6:00 a.m.
36:18 anyways yeah difference yeah whatever I
36:22 know my timing is going to be way off it's fine this would be helpful if I
36:26 actually cared about my Health but I don't think we have the luxury of that
36:30 cuz we're on computers all the time yeah
36:33 and then we're filming with giant light boxes like you have in the background
36:36 going right at your face which has got not be good the the the horrible Perils
36:41 of our jobs of sitting in our offices and sitting on computers all day is
36:45 really Terrier yeah oh my oh you should
36:49 feel bad for us so unhealthy yeah all
36:52 the time speaking of feeling bad uh parents who don't stop children playing
36:57 Call of Duty and other games of that style the title's a little bit
37:00 sensationalist it just says playing Call of Duty but yeah like game aggressive
37:04 gameplay stuff high rated game plays uh will be reported to the police um Warren
37:10 schools in the UK
37:13 crazy nothing about this I I like absolutely nothing about this entire
37:18 story right so it's not all schools in the UK or anything I believe it's it's
37:23 it's 16 schools and they've stated they would call the police and Social
37:26 Services if children reveal in the playground they have been playing adult
37:30 themed games several children have reported blah blah blah blah the games
37:35 are talking about with levels of violence and sexual content such as Call
37:38 of Duty Grand Theft Auto Dogs of War and
37:41 other similar games that are all inappropriate for children yeah crazy
37:47 and this is like including everyone under 18 plus as far as I that's crazy
37:51 okay I can understand maybe like a six or seveny old probably should be playing
37:55 Call of Duty or or Grand Theft aut like if it's like if they're if they're
37:58 looking at elementary schools and if if
38:01 like what they do is they like maybe call and talk to the parents uh
38:04 paraments talk to the parents about the possible implications of letting their
38:09 kids play this and be like maybe you shouldn't blah blah blah blah blah like
38:13 maybe that's fine but once you're in high school like I don't
38:17 know a single dude that didn't play games that were 18 plus yeah of course
38:22 that's insane and not only that it's not like they're just calling they're
38:25 reporting to the police and as like an incident and and social services so they
38:31 can like that's CRA this seems to me
38:34 like a school district who's just trying to like really like make some news and
38:38 say oh we're gonna crap down on those video games that are killing our kids
38:42 for it just seems kind of sensationalist and they're just trying to to get the
38:47 the word out but this is this is this is messed up on a lot of levels I mean
38:52 parents were also warned about their youngsters uh being allowed to have
38:55 access to social media sites such as Facebook and WhatsApp because it could
38:58 make them vulnerable to sexual grooming first of all I did not need to
39:03 know that that was a term second of all
39:07 second of all okay again I can see some
39:11 like nugget of of like real information here like yeah you probably should have
39:14 a little kid you know having Facebook or Whatsapp okay I can kind understand with
39:19 the argument of I don't want the crap that I did when I was 14 to be on the
39:22 internet exactly yeah I just
39:25 don't no wait do do we need to pause and do we need to discuss something right
39:29 now we super don't need to discuss anything right now at all that's totally fine um but like ah I just just maybe
39:36 have an advisory thing I yes I think it's very hamfisted of this school board
39:40 to just come out here and do this but an ulterior motive for them might be to
39:45 bring this issue up and have someone go like whoa whoa whoa let's draw back and
39:50 set up a system here which is much less aggressive um and maybe that's actually
39:55 what they want I hope that's actually what they want because if if someone's
39:58 in elementary school and has a Facebook account and is posting everything they're doing all day on the Facebook
40:02 account maybe that's a little weird May
40:05 scary yeah their parents should maybe look into that I don't know that's their
40:09 decision and if the kid is playing Call of Duty uh they're probably getting
40:12 ripped on by whole bunch of old people and might even be beating them because
40:16 little kids seem to be pretty good at first person shooters there's a yeah that is something I've noticed a lot of
40:20 kids who are like somewhat younger can be incredibly good at things like Call
40:24 of Duty I it's a little weird to me maybe they're like
40:27 maybe skills man exactly but like I just
40:31 think the the thing with this is that it
40:34 seems ridiculous like I I get it right a lot of parents pay zero attention to the
40:38 ratings of games and you know they'll let a little kid play like Grand Theft
40:41 Auto right okay probably not a good idea
40:45 but I can't I mean there PE like little kids get to watch movies and all kinds
40:50 of TV shows that are you know adult themed and I mean that's just like kind
40:54 of normal right like that's not something that's completely in Ane and
40:57 crazy and you need to call the police and Social Services about like it's
41:01 something that yeah parents probably should pay a little bit more attention to but to call the the police because
41:06 some 15-year-old kid in school's like oh I was playing Call of Duty call the
41:10 police yeah yeah exactly that's that's insane to me like I can't even begin to
41:14 imagine how they would actually enforce that and what what what are the police
41:17 going to do right you get some some school calling up like uh so one of our
41:21 15-year-old students who playing Call of Duty okay all right we have some
41:24 important stuff to do have a good yeah exactly yeah so I just this everything
41:30 about this everything about this just makes me sad and not I'm not going to
41:35 tell anyone how to raise their kids because I I don't want to do that but I
41:39 I feel like like if the kid wants to do it at some level they probably will so
41:45 like if you're like oh you can't play shooter games he's going to go to
41:48 Johnny's house and play shooter games over there if you tell him he can't
41:52 watch that movie he's going to go on his laptop in his room or his phone or his
41:56 tablet or or whatever the heck internet of things and just watch it there like I
42:02 I don't know yeah I think having the discussion about like oh oh it's it's
42:07 not real you probably knew this but it's not real those are just pixels it's not
42:11 the same at all you can be a super nice kind-hearted person and play GTA all you
42:17 want and everything could still be fine um right and like talking about the
42:21 differences of like okay don't kick and punch your friends in the face at school
42:25 just do that NVIDIA games don't do that and you'll be okay yeah I don't
42:29 know just having those like very obvious conversations is probably not a bad idea
42:35 manting things will very likely just make things worse I just tell you this
42:39 just seems to me like every year or two
42:42 some things gotta like there's got to be some controversy or something go video
42:45 games they're terrible for people and then everyone calms down everyone
42:48 forgets about it and it's no big deal I feel like this is just another one of those things where some school district
42:52 is wanting to make some attention make some news and you know it's going to
42:55 blow over and whatever so but it's just it just annoys me that that video games
43:00 are still ragged on like this when I me there there's so much advantage to
43:03 playing video games as far as like just you know being able to like get friends
43:07 and be able to like everyone like come and hang out and play Mario Kart or
43:11 GTA whatever yeah I it's it's held one
43:15 of my friend groups together completely that's completely the reason why it has
43:19 is because we'll all come together and play games or play games on the internet
43:22 that's I I find it's a really good way to keep in contact with friends that I
43:25 had in high school and stuff because even if they moved away or I moved away
43:28 or whatever you can still play online which is a really good way to yeah so
43:33 the third thing we've learned this show pizza is great we love lonus and you
43:37 should play more video games yes success all right next fantastic moving on to a
43:41 more uh uplifting story I think this is
43:44 freaking amazing I'm a huge fan of this product it is called uh Volvo life paint
43:50 so which is a great name life paint yeah it's fantastic so to uh it's invisible
43:57 like daylight so if there's a lot of light on the object it's not visible but
44:01 if there's not much light on the object as far as I can tell it glows white yeah
44:05 yeah I think it's a white glow I'm gonna share my screen here for a second so
44:10 what it does is it shines brightly in with like the glare it's kind of like a
44:15 reflective sort of thing where like if you're driving around the corner and you know it's like headlights hit it it'll
44:19 bounce back like I can't tell you how many times I I can't tell you but it's
44:22 not been that many times but it's happened to me before where I'm driving through a neighborhood I'll come around
44:26 a corner it's in the middle of the night and someone's walking around with like a black hoodie on like in the middle of
44:31 the street like don't do that that's a bad idea right but if I have some like
44:36 stupid you know reflective thing where I'm driving around I see someone shiny
44:39 with this life paint then I might not hit them because that would be bad y so
44:44 it's supposed to be reflective stuff that is kind of held together which is very cool and yeah reflective was the
44:49 best term for it um I I think it's great
44:52 especially because of exactly what you just said I've been a biker or I was a
44:55 biker for many years when I was was going to University that sounds badass
44:58 just throwing that out there what a biker I I didn't mean motorbike I was
45:03 like a pedal never mind I I take it back I take all those cool points and you
45:06 just lost a few I did I was like that kid in Pokemon who like got the bike
45:10 vouer and was like yeah I'm going to go to school I can save my 1 million
45:14 credits now yeah exactly yeah that money
45:18 I would have never made I wonder if someone saved up to now no dude the cap
45:22 was like 999,000 right so you couldn't get it yeah I don't think you could have
45:26 yeah has a whole point that makes sense I try I'm pretty sure yeah
45:32 yeah um epic references but yeah like
45:35 this would have been really nice while I was doing that and I think the other
45:40 unintended fantastic part about this is you can spray things and then they won't
45:45 show up in daylight and they'll show up later on so you could like spray
45:48 explicit things which are funny people spray on stuff that look like elongated
45:53 somethings and you can leave them wherever the heck you want and people
45:56 won't know that's fantastic now you could it washes off after a week so it
46:02 even disappears after a while it's it's literally perfect it's perfect it'll
46:05 save lives and you get to paint things
46:09 on things and be able to see things in certain light yeah so like buddy passes
46:15 out of the party just turn the lights off spray some stuff on him no big deal
46:19 he can go to work it's fine he could be on his face and he could still go to
46:22 work and everything would be fine and then you turn the lights off and then he
46:26 get he gets home it's been a long day at work his his his wife is there she's
46:30 like how are you doing how fine whatever just turns the light off giant penis on
46:34 his face just whatever I don't know could be hilarious this is this might be
46:38 the greatest invention of all Humanity that saves lives makes perfect pranks
46:43 possible Volvo We Salute You I salute you I feel like we both do I don't speak
46:48 for you no I salute them too that's that's fantastic completely agree and
46:53 what I really like about it too is isn't Volvo the one that came up with the
46:56 three-point seat belt yes and they opened up that patent exactly yeah they
47:00 everybody it was like I don't want to again I think this whole this whole show
47:04 has been me getting say something then be like uh it it was a while ago right
47:09 like 60 70 something like that yeah I think they patented it and they just gave the patent or they like a free
47:13 license to want people to be safer I think this
47:18 is like wave two of that whole idea I I
47:21 don't know if they're going to release the patent or do whatever but I think it's very cool that they're putting a
47:25 lot of effort to save people that aren't even directly in their Market this is
47:30 people riding bikes yeah it's not I doubt that yeah exactly like if you're
47:35 riding a bike you might not own a Volvo right but they're still the ones who are
47:39 I'm assuming who designed this and are selling it and all that kind of stuff so
47:42 yeah big props of Volo this this is something awesome all the way around
47:46 yeah I thought that was absolutely cool I I loved that that was probably my
47:49 favorite thing in the dark so far have they actually said is it available or
47:54 like can you buy this yet I didn't see any in terms of being able to purchase
47:58 it there's a I know you can get involved whatever that actually means by
48:02 submitting your email address um oo it
48:05 does look like you can buy it actually now that I see it says get life paint at
48:09 the shops below and they're all in London so
48:13 uh I don't see anywhere to I feel like a
48:17 a Channel Super Fun video is about to become a real a
48:21 reality if I can get my hands on some of this this will definitely can you order
48:24 it or like you have to actually pick in person yeah they they said that the
48:28 shops below and there's like a gray and white M I'm going to see here Pelton and
48:33 Co Cadence performance limited athlete lab the vello house bespoke cycling
48:38 fully charged Globe House oh yeah Volvo is into actually now I think about it
48:41 Volvo is into a lot of stuff that are that's not cars right like they do all
48:45 kinds of other like bikes and whatnot right oh do do they Oh I thought that's
48:49 what you were reading on their site no those are stores where you can buy it oh
48:54 okay never mind I was wrong again
48:59 they I don't know they might be I don't know much about that um I don't see it
49:03 on their site I'll see if I can order some that would actually I would love to do a video on this stuff so cool would
49:08 be so cool and and of course I'd have to spray some stuff all over lus like if I
49:13 can get a hold of Linus's like NVIDIA jacket sh and then after the show after
49:18 the show point I'll I'll hold it I'll hold it I won't go anymore moving on uh
49:23 uh finding other topic I have to do sponsor spots real quick give me a
49:26 moment
49:29 if if Nick you have like some awesome sponsor music yet I I don't have sponsor
49:34 music I wish I had sponsor music you can be the sponsor music we want to tell you
49:39 about our new show sponsor fresh books they're pretty cool online tool that can
49:43 help you get your accounting done and uh just do things quickly it's great for
49:48 small businesses or some freelance work I've done freance work in the past doing
49:52 computer repairs office setups all that kind of stuff for techie techie style
49:55 things you can have your uh clients pay online you can manage your expenses and
49:59 you can set up invoices and stuff like that and have everything automatically tracked which is absolutely fantastic
50:04 you can use it to update your time sheet through your phone and do projects on
50:08 basically any connected device that you have head over to freshbooks.com and
50:12 don't forget to enter W in the how did You Hear About Us section as well moving
50:17 onwards I have facial hair congratulations not have facial hair
50:21 it's possible that you have facial hair it's possible that you have hair
50:25 elsewhere you probably do um and Dollar Shave Club isn't only for
50:30 men I know it's marketed that way often but as we've discussed on the show
50:33 before your lady friends could use it just as well as you could so please take
50:37 note of that dollar shave dollarshaveclub.com Linus I can talk at
50:42 all sometimes um shave time shave money they have their Dr sh Dr Carver's shave
50:48 butter which is Awesome by the way tried it it is really really cool I actually
50:53 do like it too I actually do use that every day that isn't even part of the sponsor spot thing but I I do I use Dr
50:58 shers cave butter and I Dr Carver's shave butter oh my God what's wrong with
51:03 me right now um I used that razor as well it's a great way to have razors
51:08 show up to your door and it costs a lot less than most razors that you can buy
51:11 in the store as well which is pretty cool all right back to the normal show
51:17 you magically appear again um why is Nick calling uh oh audio
51:24 problems again what you to change the
51:27 lower third when you do a different
51:31 sponsor clicking on Dollar Shave Club
51:34 versus fresh books my bad that sucked
51:38 sorry Nick okay that's okay bye
51:41 bye poor Nick we have to have Nick around otherwise literally nothing goes
51:47 correct at all Nick is like Nick is gonna hate this because he's watching
51:50 right now but Nick is like the office mom like he'll make sure everyone's like
51:54 doing okay like if people are working and they're like man I have so much to do today he'll be like are are you fed
51:58 do you have lunch you need food I can get you food do you need food and then he'll like go and get people food and
52:03 everything it's fantastic he emailed me I think it was on on Wednesday he's like
52:07 hey dude this is like super late but can you be on the W show and like he sent
52:10 this like really long thoughtful emails like dude congratulations on your
52:13 channel you know I think it would be awesome you know you and you know you
52:17 guys can make an awesome show I like yeah sure no problem like that was my
52:20 entire response I kind felt bad like man he probably spent like a long time
52:24 working on this email asking if I would want to be on the show I was like yeah sure and it shows the differences too
52:28 because yeah giant block you're like yeah of course dude and then I'm like
52:33 sweet exactly it's like longest email thre ever sure
52:38 okay that was great thank you by the way for showing it up that was super short
52:42 notice um but yeah that that yeah he's
52:46 he's very about things Nick is awesome he's very helpful um things that aren't
52:51 awesome changing topics a little bit two former federal agents are charged with
52:55 stealing a whack ton of Bitcoin during
52:58 the Silk Road uh uh what do you even call that pillage they when they just
53:03 like wrecked Silk Road yeah so that was
53:06 crazy so if I remember the story right and I'll probably be wrong again even
53:10 though I have some awesome notes basically Silk Road was uh it was around
53:15 for a while and actually this happened what maybe or two ago oh yeah for sure
53:20 there there's been there's there's been Silk Road one I think was quite a while
53:23 ago and there's been some kind of like popups and stuff but I think they've uh
53:27 the more recent ones have actually been from a different group just trying to
53:30 kind of ride on the on the name I think yeah because uh they arrested the guy
53:35 behind I guess this particular St Ro
53:38 Roberts that's the greatest name ever just throwing out there if if I'm going
53:42 to Beal break I think dread pirate
53:45 Robert sounds way cooler like if I'm gonna be a criminal I need a cool name
53:49 like Dread pirate Robert legally change it yeah my first name's dread middle
53:52 name pirate last name Roberts no Biga but yeah so BAS basically what
53:56 happened was was that the US government they became owners of a huge Trove of of
54:01 Bitcoin because they seized the assets of dread pirate Roberts like ey patch to
54:06 say that properly but then now two of the former agents of the DEA and the
54:10 Secret Service who were actually doing the investigation they decided H we
54:15 could keep a few of these Bitcoins right you know no one no one's going to notice
54:18 I mean it's it's internet money right except it was worth like $1.1 million
54:24 and I think couple people might have perhaps noticed and now they've been
54:28 charged with stealing actually what what are all the chares they've been charged
54:31 with money laundering wire fraud and other various offenses so like not Small
54:36 Time stuff at all and it might cause some issues too because um dread pirate
54:41 Roberts made some agreements with these guys like right here where he allegedly
54:46 paid them around a 100 grand um to keep
54:49 certain things about Silk Road Under Wraps they told them that they had more
54:53 information and they could not forward that information to their obvious
54:57 employers if he paid them and he actually did and now that's complicating
55:01 the case a little bit which yeah oh jeez
55:05 I mean that's that's going to be a huge blow to the case because if you're having some of the guys who were
55:09 starting the investigation who were working with the the government at the
55:12 time if they were stealing they were like involved in this whole deal I mean
55:17 I feel like that's got to be a huge blow to the entire thing it is yeah that that
55:21 could seriously injure the Integrity of the entire case that's that's crazy this
55:24 seems like like like if you just play Bitcoin with I don't know like drugs or
55:28 or money or something this could totally be like an awesome 70s cop episode but
55:32 instead it's just like actually it could be a slightly less awesome like I don't
55:36 know Law and Order episode but I just it just it just everything about this seems
55:40 ridiculous especially dread pirate Roberts that's the most ridiculous I
55:44 love that but yeah that's so good but yeah these guys stealing like a million
55:48 dollars worth of bitcoin probably not the greatest IDE why is my computer
55:52 making noise autop playing videos on websites suck other than I hate that I
55:57 hate that so frustrating I I would hope YouTube autoplayed that would be a little Annoying if it didn't
56:01 but yeah so these press the play button
56:04 every time but yeah these two brilliant guys uh didn't get too far with their
56:09 million dollars in Bitcoin in fact if you steal a million dollars in Bitcoin
56:13 like that would kind of be hard to spend right like I I can't imagine that's as
56:17 easy as just having a million dollars in cash for these guys especially who have
56:21 just been investigating it like what are you actually going to do with that kind
56:24 of spend in order of like like things that you would easily be able to buy but
56:29 it would probably actually be easier uh due to being un traceable or
56:35 not very traceable I just I just wonder if these Bitcoins were just never
56:39 reported in the original like C's like when they like when the government sees
56:43 like these Bitcoins or if they were like already known I this I don't know I'm
56:46 not like a super expert on bitcoin as you might have been able to guess but uh
56:51 I don't know I think it just doesn't seem like a particularly great idea just
56:54 anywhere along this this particular chain so I don't know it's weird the
56:59 blockchain um yeah I I I I I feel like
57:02 you'd be able to more easily move stolen money if it was in Bitcoins than in
57:07 dollars because dollars are a little bit easier to track especially on the internet um but that so if they were
57:13 trying to like launder it through other things that would probably be not that bad of a process but getting it out of
57:18 um whoever was managing this at the beginning I don't know about that
57:22 process I have no idea what they did and I feel like there would have to be some sort of transaction like they must have
57:26 been paying attention which is probably how they found them they got caught yeah
57:30 something along this this happy little blockchain got messed up so yeah yeah oh
57:35 well that's that's that's crazy though this this whole thing is like shaping up
57:38 to be like this a like it's it it's like getting close to being a movie I think
57:42 like it just needs like a couple of extra little twists this totally could
57:46 be a good movie well it could be a movie I don't know I say it's good probably
57:50 most of these kind of like Bitcoin hacker movies are not very good but yeah
57:55 I might watch it yeah I like hackers the movie I thought that movie was
58:00 fantastic but but you're right um anyways moving moving to a completely
58:06 different topic April fools happened and of course tons of giant tech companies
58:11 did a whole bunch of different April fools things what were some of your favorites oh man you know I this year I
58:17 feel like was one of the first April fools I was just kind of over it like I
58:20 liked the Motorola the selfie stick I think that was probably my favorite
58:24 because that one it it just was it it was like it was a good parody of Apple
58:27 it was a good parody of just like this if you guys haven't seen it it's this
58:31 great uh video where you know these like these Artisans are making like crafting
58:34 like the ultimate selfie stick out of like leather and wood and like they're
58:38 taking selfies it's it's it's a good video like as far as the April Fool's
58:42 Day stuff went it was good I also liked the com. gooogle where everything was
58:46 yeah backwards that was cool yeah what did you like uh I I like uh I'm a little
58:52 bit over it on some things with April Fool stuff I do like the high production
58:56 quality video kind of stuff because I find it entertaining so like I liked
59:01 some of the the Google ones where they were like oh uh what like fiber when
59:06 they're like oh yeah DSL mode because like it
59:10 it's it it was just realistic enough and
59:13 the production quality was there that I was like this is just awesome cuz it's
59:17 comedy at that point and like Razer with their levitating Mouse go was like what
59:23 that's so cool or Corsair with the ball Mouse
59:26 I I love how they both did mice but like I I like the high production quality
59:30 stuff but yeah the Forum voted in um
59:33 Google Microsoft corser ASUS and Razer so all of the like most expected
59:40 companies for people to vote for because they're popular U um voting poll on the
59:45 Forum yeah I I I don't know I I wasn't a
59:49 huge fan of the ASUS one but that's
59:52 probably largely just cuz there wasn't a video that was the the e St thing right
59:57 where they're e station and I think
60:00 there was something else but yeah e station was definitely one of them that
60:04 one I didn't even think that was real like I I didn't even think it was a real
60:07 April fools joke I thought it just like someone like r/ PC Master made it and I
60:10 was like oh wait this is actually real oh right the Rog Neptune um which is
60:16 like an L and2 cooled graphics card that you can just buy um but then yeah that
60:22 that's like my problem with that is the graphic of the actual net tune looks
60:26 really cool and then the text around it is like like borderline meme text I'm
60:31 just like all right yeah I don't know I I like it when
60:35 people put a lot of effort into it essentially that's the like the ones
60:39 that aren't mean and aren't stupid right like a lot of them like the I saw a
60:43 bunch of people were posting the NVIDIA just bought valve and they're going to
60:47 push out halflife three it's like dudes just no stop it just that's not funny
60:53 that's not cool it's just that's just annoying yes a lot of the ones and
60:56 especially I think the thing that really bothers me most is like when companies kind of like they half ass like ah we'll
61:02 like make some clever witty thing it's like obviously dumb and like it's it's
61:06 not even it's like it's not even funny like a lot of those bother me because
61:10 you can just see like some like marketing department they're like you know what this will be funny we'll do
61:14 April fools let's come up with a terrible idea and no one will like it
61:18 like I just see that and all kind yeah exactly it's just like guys come on if
61:22 you're gonna do it at least do it right if not just please don't that's why I
61:26 said I like the high production quality video kind of stuff because then it's
61:30 like it's it's a proper experience that you're like you know what that was that
61:33 was funny and that was cool like even uh Playstation flow like I knew people
61:37 wouldn't vote for it because it's our Forum which that's fine um but like that
61:42 was a really good video and that was hilarious did you see that one no I
61:45 didn't okay so it's it's supposed to be like kind of like VR but you only wear
61:51 it for uh underwater sections NVIDIA
61:54 games and you like go dive in a pool and
61:57 it's supposed to be like realism and stuff it's great and she's like yeah
62:00 even if you don't my favorite part was when she's like yeah even if you don't have a pool you can still experience
62:05 flow and they show someone like fake swimming in a bathtub they show another
62:09 dude fake swimming in a ball pit and then someone else just like laying on a
62:13 footrest thing like swimming in their family room in the air I'm like this is
62:17 so great it was hilarious that sounds funny
62:21 I don't you need to watch that that just sounds funny I'll give I'll give so many
62:24 props on that that's that's pretty good I I don't know I thought that was
62:27 interesting like they obviously put a lot of effort into it and like you know what if they get some more publicity
62:32 because of that if they pushed really hard and made something really cool and really funny that's fine I'm cool with
62:37 yeah totally yeah absolutely anyways moving on speaking of uh I I segwayed
62:42 that entire topic the reason why I brought April fools up entirely was to
62:46 segue into this um which is hyperkin's
62:49 smart boy which was leaked on Reddit and
62:53 uh it I don't know it was it was definitely a like purposeful leak and I
62:58 think it was something to do with April Fools and I don't think they were even
63:02 actually planning on doing it and then it like front paged so hard and people
63:07 liked it so much that they might actually be doing it now yeah so it kind
63:12 of started as a joke yeah exactly so it was originally I believe it was uh a
63:16 hyperkin employee they just posted it as a joke it's like April fools whatever um
63:20 if you guys haven't seen it basically what it is is it's kind of like uh a Game Boy shell so hyperkin they make a
63:25 lot of emulators or I guess what would you call it an emulator I guess I mean
63:29 it plays like the original cartridge yes but what it does is it pulls the ROM off
63:33 the cartridge and then emulates it so it's an emulator yeah okay so basically
63:37 it would be like it's so you slide like an iPhone 6 in the top um it has like
63:41 the actual like if you cover up like the the bottom half of the screen like you
63:44 actually have like the the game boy style buttons then you can actually put
63:48 an original Game Boy card in the back they said like it might be able to you
63:51 know have a battery backup for the iPhone all this kind of stuff and you
63:55 can actually play uh original Game Boy games on like an iPhone screen which is
63:58 obviously way better than the original game boy so it's a cool idea and
64:02 apparently they every like you said everyone was super excited about so they
64:05 decided to do it or they're putting it in development so we'll see what it
64:09 actually looks like but I think my problem is is how are they actually going to pull this off right like I get
64:14 it yeah you could absolutely have like a Bluetooth or I don't know if iPhones
64:17 support uh like actual wired controllers I'm not sure if you could like hook it
64:21 up via lightning but even if they couldn't you could do like a Bluetooth controller yeah that's fine you you can
64:26 have like a battery in there um I'm sure they can work out a way I I know they
64:29 already have lots of emulators for I think even like some of their consoles
64:33 already do Game Boy games right yeah no some of their consoles
64:37 definitely do Game Boy games um I don't know a lot about uh what you can do with
64:42 lightning connectors because I haven't really been an iPhone user um do you
64:45 know if there's flash drives for iPhones
64:49 oh that's a good question I know there mic yeah I know you can do that with
64:54 Android phones I think the problem is I don't know what you could actually use a
64:57 flash drive for on iOS I don't I mean I know you there's like an adapter that
65:01 you can uh like get like a fullsize USB port as well as U I think it's the
65:04 camera connection kit where you can also hook up like an SD card but like when
65:08 you do that all it does is just uh takes it and brings it into like the photos
65:11 app like you can't actually you don't get like a file manager that might be
65:15 enough that's probably enough then because if you can send data up well of
65:18 course you can send data up you can move uh files from here okay then that's fine
65:22 cuz all they would need to do is have the hyper component pull the ROM off the
65:28 card that you put in or cartridge that you put in sorry and then bring it into
65:32 an emulation app on your phone and then it would just run an app on your phone
65:36 that that's that would be totally fine and then all they'd have to do is pull
65:39 data and give battery life this honestly doesn't even sound that hard to make
65:43 there's one problem though what apple is always taken down any kind of emulation
65:47 app and I don't see why this would be any different even if it's using the actual ROM data so I get like if you had
65:53 like a jailbroken phone or maybe they have cuz I know was a Game Boy emulator
65:57 that you could download in Safari but it was like you it was like a little hacky
66:00 like you had to reset your calendar to like a certain date and I I believe it
66:04 would use like a devel it would use some kind of certificate that was not
66:07 originally meant for like just downloading random apps I think it for like a corporate thing or something I
66:12 don't remember the exact details but so there might be some kind of workaround
66:15 but I feel like the biggest thing is they can't just put in an app that uses
66:18 Game Boy like that's a Game Boy emulator in the App Store like apple would just
66:22 take that down so yeah hyperin could easily just develop it for uh Android
66:27 yeah and I think even in the original post they mentioned that I mean they they might be able to swap out lightning
66:32 with like micro USB I think if they did that it would be completely fine totally
66:36 work yeah that's no problem the only problem you have with that is the form factor changing so much right yeah so
66:41 like you have to make it for like a few different devices or yeah have like
66:44 adjustable slider things on the side or whatever I don't know what they would do
66:48 um but it would it would probably be a little bit more complicated because of that but they'd be able to get around
66:53 the no emulator stuff which yeah is probably would would kill them unless
66:59 they're able to talk to Apple and be
67:02 like yeah but they have to have the physical cartridge which helps a lot it
67:08 definitely helps their case but still emulation yeah I I I don't think Apple's
67:14 going to be all that nice to I think this makes a lot more sense if you have like an Android phone with just a normal
67:18 micro USB port I think that would in that case it would be completely fine and you know it would be no problem but
67:23 it it's a cool idea I can totally see rocking this giant battery Game Boy case
67:27 and you know playing playing some old school actual Game Boy cards on my phone
67:31 that'd be dope I'd do it because I actually still play like I have a um The
67:37 Game Boy 2DS yeah um which I I play like Smash
67:40 and stuff on but then I actually still get more use out of my Advanced and my
67:46 Game Boy Color wait advance or advanced SP uh I think you're probably an
67:50 advanced SP fan I just have an advanced dude the advanced SP is so much better
67:54 you get the backlit you get the fold design you get a rechargeable battery I
67:58 haven't bought a new one I have my same advance from like when it launched when
68:02 I was a kid and it still works so I'm like I don't know dude I when the
68:08 advance first came out when the advance first came out I was like so anti-sp
68:12 like ah it's just junk like cuz I had like the the giant adapter with the
68:16 light so like I could see the screen which is like huge and bulky and annoying but like I was so sold on I
68:21 like I'm never going to get an SP then my friend got one I was like oh this the
68:24 greatest thing ever and then like I was completely sold I the just getting a
68:27 little off topic here the SP is like my favorite game boy of all time because it plays every game boy game Game Boy Game
68:33 Boy Color Game Boy Advance it's got a rechargeable battery and mine I had the
68:37 same battery in that thing for like 12 years or 11 years and it still worked it
68:42 still it means like 20 minutes of battery life at the end but it still worked yeah it's it's it's the best the
68:46 only problem is the SP does not have a headphone jack and you have to get this stupid dongle that hooks up to like the
68:51 link port and then plug in head it's it's really dumb but besides that Game
68:54 Boy Advance SP Master aace yes yes the
68:58 only game I like ever play is just my super old I have no idea how the
69:02 internal batter is still going Game Boy Blue cart or Game Boy Blue why did I say
69:07 that Pokemon Blue I don't think the first gen Pokemon games had issues with
69:12 the battery running out I know the second gen did because they had the the
69:15 clock and you would lose your save I think the first gen even if the the the
69:19 battery dies I think it only affects like I don't think I don't think it's a
69:22 big deal I think the save data is still intact I might be wrong I know the second gen definitely has problems with
69:27 that cuz I remember I had to to solder like the new uh the new
69:30 battery it oh that's it's not hard you just have to like pop off the back of it
69:35 and you just like you saw it on it's it takes like five minutes but I think the
69:38 first games are okay I've actually been waiting because it's interesting that it
69:42 doesn't now so I know that but um I was kind of waiting for mine to die so that
69:47 I could learn how to do that battery swap and just film a video about it dude
69:51 I did a tutorial on it like in 2011 oh
69:54 wow okay that's probably why see um yeah it was a long time ago but it's not hard
69:58 it's not hard at all you can get like they even sell like the the screwdriver like you can get like the kits of just
70:02 like a couple batteries it's super it's super easy dude and it's you can save
70:06 like your old games that are are dead so if you have like any of the newer games
70:09 that are that aren't saving or anything anymore it's totally worth it cuz I I
70:13 know like some of those carts are like worth 30 40 50 bucks but without a
70:17 battery they're like junk so yeah yeah exactly there's a lot around there but
70:20 anyway side side sket don't don't ever
70:24 put a Game Boy thing on this list again just just throwing that out there like
70:27 it's a bad idea unless people want to hear game boy I like talking about gamey
70:33 you know what screw it we're almost at the end of the show I don't mind Tangen
70:36 thing uh we have only one topic left to do we have time the the new 3DS whatever
70:41 the heck what do you think new 3DS XL all right so the first 3DS so hang on
70:47 how far are you along as far as like 3DS's have you ever messed you said you
70:50 have a 2DS I have a 2DS I've played with a 3DS I've played with a 3DS XL I
70:55 personally have a 2DS so you never have you ever messed around with the original 3DS screen yes
71:02 and uh in 3D yeah hated it absolutely
71:06 hated it not not even remotely okay with it so that's what the 3dsxl I think for
71:11 most people that's the whole upgrade right so it has a little I don't know if
71:14 it's a I know it has a front-facing camera like all 3DS's do it can tell
71:17 where you're exact it's got like a cool
71:20 like little graphic like when you go to set it up like can actually see like your face like as you move left and
71:24 right and up and down it actually like tracks you that makes a huge difference
71:28 I'm still not a massive fan of the 3D but I feel like that upgrade alone makes
71:33 the the 3DS actually a 3DS I think that's that's a big upgrade
71:39 um there's some really stupid things like they they moved every okay so every
71:43 DS and 3DS model I feel like they moved the stylus like it was on top they had
71:47 like the extendable one then they put it on the right side which is what they should do and then they now they have it
71:52 on the bottom it's just like no don't do that stop they they move that the the
71:56 card slot's also on the bottom now which is not on the top which is weird that's
72:00 weird yeah and they've got a Micro SD nothing wrong with micro SD I think a
72:03 fulls siiz SD on like a portable is kind of dumb because that's just taking up a
72:07 lot of space but you have to unscrew the back to get at the micro SD so it's I
72:11 mean it's not it's not a big deal I believe see maybe why they did that it'
72:16 be super easy to steal it well the thing is ever ever since like the DSi you've
72:21 had like a a super like just flip a flap flip a flap flap you got to flip the
72:27 flap you just got to flip the flap and
72:30 uh I can't say that you have to to to
72:33 delicately remove the flat it's just
72:37 getting worse you're not going to be able to do it I'm gonna push I'm gonna
72:40 push forward okay so you can easily just
72:43 remove the small bit of rubber and you can pop out the SD card so it's it's
72:48 been like that ever since the original like the DSi so I I don't know I it just
72:51 there's some weird decisions there also there's no normal new 3DS so there's
72:57 there used to be like the the small 3DS then they brought out the 3DS XL which
73:01 is they've had like a I think they had a DSi XL so no no big deal they brought
73:05 the 2DS which is like the flat version that doesn't fold um it doesn't have 3D
73:09 which honestly I think is one of the better versions but now they have a new
73:12 3DS XL they didn't replace the normal size so if you want the new 3DS you've
73:17 got to get the XL you've got to get the big I think it's like 5 in or something it's it's a big console yeah and they
73:22 the thing is they have a normal 3DS but they only sell in Japan and I believe
73:26 some other countries but I know not here in North America right that's a little
73:30 bit weird to me I know they were saying how they didn't because they've already got the 2DS we' got the new 3DS XL they
73:35 they thought that two was enough they didn't think they really needed three yeah I get that logic especially because
73:39 the 3DS XL is 200 bucks so that would mean they have to chop the price of the
73:43 the normal 3DS but I don't know it's it's a good upgrade I mean there there
73:47 are some things like it's faster um so especially like the menus I feel like I
73:52 can't tell a huge difference but like loading smash I was just going to say
73:56 smash load time big I did I I did a comparison of like I loaded them both up
74:01 I think it was like 15 seconds for like 40 seconds that's off the top of my head
74:04 but like it was a huge difference so that's cool but then on the flip side
74:09 Nintendo they've had so again backing up
74:12 to the the when they brought out the DS and they brought out the DSi it was the
74:16 same kind of thing right like they could still play all the same games but the DSi was faster it had some additional
74:20 features and there were actual apps that you could download to the DSi the 3DS is
74:24 the same but this time there are games that are coming out just for the new 3DS XL yeah
74:29 right so your 2DS wouldn't is not going to be able to play a few new games and
74:34 I've seen more and more coming out like at first it was just like one or two and
74:37 now I know there's at least three of them I believe and it's like it's it's
74:42 it's like what are they doing they have this 3DS and yeah exactly so now you you
74:46 buy a 3DS game which already confuses people with the 2DS because they don't
74:50 know if that actually works NDS games and now you have a 3DS game but it's the
74:54 new 3DS game so it doesn't work on your old 3DS or your
74:58 2DS and it's called the new 3DS that's
75:02 not confusing it all terrible they're doing so bad with their naming yes like
75:06 you just said buying a 2DS and then being like no games exist for this is
75:11 genuinely a problem and then the new thing is messed up and it's ah when you
75:16 call games like new whatever that's not
75:20 nearly as big of a deal as calling a console new whatever at least it was the
75:24 DS the DSI right like there was yes
75:27 because like you can just say oh I've got the new 3DS you mean like the new new 3DS or just the new 3DS uh I don't
75:33 know which games does it play I don't know it doesn't play some games it just
75:38 what nothing about this makes sense so
75:41 yes the new 3dsxl in my opinion is a better console like there there are some
75:45 cool upgrades and you know just Apples to Apples yeah sure if you're just going
75:49 to go buy a new 3DS get the 3DS XL you know it's better no no no big deal but
75:54 just so many dumb decisions on the part of Nintendo on this whole thing they dri
75:59 it drives me crazy like what are they thinking like I just I could go on this
76:04 for a long time I I should stop but I
76:07 have to call it some someone in the chat pink snow birdie just said 3DS one
76:11 amazing idea definitely do that just call it the one just like everybody else
76:15 was no what do we at well so there's
76:19 Xbox One HTC One feel there's another one right OnePlus One OnePlus One that's
76:24 the one yeah yeah ridiculous yeah names
76:27 guys learn how to do them and apple does the same thing going down the rabbit
76:31 hole even more when they do like the new Macbook can you give it a name please
76:35 yeah so everyone be searching new Macbook great like when my friend's like
76:39 hey do you know like like I want to get a new laptop do you know how much my macbook's worth and I'm like uh I like I
76:45 can check local sites for you or whatever and they're like cool like
76:49 which MacBook do you have oh like a pro which which one they're like
76:55 I says Pro I don't know I'm just like oh
76:59 come on and that's the thing like the new Macbook so there's the MacBook
77:04 MacBook Air and MacBook Pro which is fine like that's that's different enough
77:07 but that's an all right lineup yeah yeah and I get it like you know it's like the
77:12 MacBook Pro 2015 or 2013 like that's that's okay like you know you buy a car
77:16 it's like a 2015 Civic right it's it's easy enough to kind of understand that
77:20 but I just feel like they've done the same thing with like the iPad right like
77:24 wasn't one of the iPads was like the new iPad yeah and then now they' they
77:28 they've retroactively changed the name to like iPad 3 or something it's just
77:33 guys names are not that thing and like have it have it on the product if if
77:37 it's MacBook Pro 2015 have it say MacBook Pro 2015 yeah not like you have
77:42 to decipher the serial number and go ah oh it ends in three that must be it's a
77:48 2013 just just no ridiculous moving into
77:51 what I think might be our last topic is Intel launches 75 series NVMe SSD 2 and
77:57 1 half inch and PCIe one second wait
78:00 there's a 2 and a half inch what there's a 2 and a half inch I have it oh wow you
78:04 have it I have it I did not even I I thought it was just PCIe only oh that's
78:08 awesome dude it is super awesome that completely went over my radar the the
78:12 poopy part about the story is I can't plug it
78:16 in uh yeah custom cable required so um
78:21 ASUS is actually going to end up hooking us up super hardcore um unfortunately
78:26 the cable didn't show up I think largely due to um the extended holidays due to
78:31 Easter and stuff but hopefully I'll be getting it early next week and hopefully
78:34 I'll be able to test this super quickly before I have to leave um but yeah super
78:40 sick drive it's supposed to be four times the what uh reads and two times
78:45 the rights of current uh SATA ssds because it is a SATA Express drive so it
78:51 you you're not going to just plug normal SATA cables into this guy it need a s
78:55 Express connector um it's coming in 400 GB and
78:58 1.2 terab capacities which and the prices aren't bad the prices aren't bad
79:03 at all I feel like it's it's like the 400 gig is somewhere around $400 like
79:07 that's actually I mean it's expensive but it's not yes it's not like sell a
79:12 kidney expensive like a lot of PCI ssds have been in the past I think that's
79:15 awesome but hang on let me go back a little bit so the 2.5 inch it's not a
79:19 SATA drive it's SATA Express that's a custom connector that need oh so that's
79:23 the cable so you got you have to route a cable from the drive to a PCI Express
79:27 slot yeah and what the cable that Intel sent me um is PCI Express to HD Mini SAS
79:36 not like PCI Express to PCI Express because I have a few boards that could
79:39 take that um so the connector that I'm
79:43 hopefully getting is going to be HD Mini SAS to
79:48 m.2 so it's going to be like this that's also not complicated or confusing
79:52 whatsoever so hopefully that shows up and hopefully I'll be able to test it
79:56 because honestly this drive looks absolutely sick yeah I mean well so you
80:02 say it's like four times so isn't it supposed to be like north of like two
80:05 gigs of like reads I think two gigabytes
80:08 per second exact I because I haven't tested it yet personally to stay off a
80:13 little bit but it looks like sequential reads 2.2
80:16 yeah and the 1.2 terab has
80:20 2.4 you know it's funny like when the first like SATA SSD were coming out and
80:25 everyone's just losing their mind at how great they were um but then for a while
80:29 there for me I was like okay they're pretty much all the same especially nowadays like most SATA drives SATA ssds
80:35 that you buy today you're not really going to be able to tell a major
80:38 difference like they're they've kind of all saturated so when some of the first
80:42 PCI Express ssds came out I was like ah sweet this is way faster like I could
80:47 tell a difference but you know these were like one Gigabyte per second maybe
80:50 a little bit less I would I would like to see if making that next step to like
80:54 the two gigabytes per second is actually going to be able to be noticeable
80:57 because I feel like there's got to be some somewhere along this chain where yeah it looks good as a benchmark but I
81:02 mean is it is it actually going to be noticeable is it realistic that's that's
81:06 one thing that I plan on testing give me one quick second because a whole bunch of people in the chat are getting mad at
81:10 me I phrased something a little bit weird it's not sa Express you're right
81:14 but I don't know if you can still hear me so now that he's gone I'm not
81:20 completely no was going to take over right it is
81:24 not SATA Express
81:28 but it uses that type of a
81:33 connector I can't see but I'm just gonna go with it yeah I'm gonna trust that
81:37 it's some kind of connector that it connects things maybe my headphones I
81:41 couldn't hear you sorry oh I can't see what you're saying so I'm just going to
81:44 assume it's some kind of connector that connects things J wasn't as funny the
81:48 second time so it's it's sff
81:51 8639 which is like completely
81:55 baller sauce anyways I want to actually test this drive out I know I said that
81:59 in a weird way and and twitch chat corrected me sorry about that um but
82:03 yeah that's that's the connector that I'm using on the actual
82:07 drive so that goes into the drive which
82:10 is the connector I just talked about and then this is the mini SAS HD Mini SAS
82:15 that I have which is totally so I guess so this is a PCIe 3.0 uh 4X right uh
82:23 this is a 2 and inch Drive no no I mean
82:26 I'm sorry like like the connector that like it needs four lanes of PCI 3.0
82:30 right oh yes I believe so so I wonder how that's going to affect I mean that
82:35 that's a lot of bandwidth right like if you've got like maybe like multi gpus
82:38 and stuff like you're going to run out of lanes pretty quick right that that's already been an interesting story even
82:43 without having these types of drives so that's even become more interesting down
82:46 the line and especially if you get like multiple of them M now like obviously
82:51 raid and stuff not really but
82:55 um yeah you could still possibly have multiple drives so that's that's going
82:58 to be an interesting story we're going to need more Lanes yeah and like the now
83:03 not even I believe it doesn't actually support like it's not just like you plug
83:06 it in like a SATA drive I believe only some like some of the more recent Intel
83:09 chipsets like x99 and X or no
83:13 z97 I'm pretty sure those are the two that are supported out of the box
83:17 right uh yeah yeah those are the on I've
83:20 seen uh stuff on it so you're going to have some problems although I believe
83:23 Ryan Shout I think he was talking on Twitter that he got it working on a AMD
83:27 Apu or at least hang on let me back up a little bit it will work on other
83:31 platforms but as far as like using it as like your actual boot Drive you're going to have some problems because it's not
83:35 really meant to like the motherboard doesn't know what it's looking for well that's that's also like like ghost just
83:40 said um you can't raid them only software raid that's why I said when I
83:43 talked about raid uh is because it's not going over like standard Drive Right
83:49 Stuff it's it's a it's kind of a weird solution it's an all new frontier it's
83:53 so much to be covered yes I'm I'm I'm super excited to test it and I'm going
83:57 to try to do um a bunch of the kind of stuff that you brought up which is like
84:01 things where a lot of people kind of stopped testing them because it was like
84:06 well you can't really notice a difference I'm going to retry some of those with this and see if you can
84:10 notice the difference so the testing I will definitely have numbers for
84:14 everything and go like it was exactly this fast but I'm also going to try and
84:17 give an objective opinion of actually using the computer where it's like oh
84:21 it's however percent crap faster which might sound like a lot but do I actually
84:25 notice this and does it actually affect my workflow in any way at all or is it
84:29 exactly the same essential conclusion in the end and are you hitting like
84:33 bottlenecks and like the CPU or memory before you you know the drive is actually something else in the system
84:37 yeah so I'll be try it's cool though I can totally see for $400 I mean if you
84:42 want to get like somewhat of like a high-end gaming PC build I mean I this
84:46 thing is way faster than a normal state of drive and I know that even if it's
84:49 not hugely like faster than like even like a normal PCI Express slot which is
84:53 like you know a gig or whatever a lot of the current ssds are I mean I could tell
84:57 the difference like I said between like like going from like 500 Megs read to
85:00 like a gig so even if you can't tell the difference like paying $400 for a 400
85:04 gig or roughly 400 I think it's somewhere in that neighborhood for a 400
85:08 gig SSD that's that fast that's awesome I think that that can go into a lot of
85:11 gaming PC builds where before it was like oh this is PCI Express and it's
85:15 just got like raid controllers and SATA and it's just just a it's a big mess
85:19 just waiting to happen like this is like it's all Native right it's all Native uh
85:22 was it NVMe yes NVMe yeah so finally kind of moving
85:27 away from ahci which is interesting yeah I've been comfortable there for a little
85:32 while yeah I was like I finally got this figure out oh great oh damn okay time to
85:37 learn some new stuff NVMe I I think is
85:41 going to be totally sick so I'm really excited to test this drive but that's it
85:45 for the show so I have to jump back to that
85:49 failure intro tab that we have which is
85:52 totally not even working right now did stream just crashed no yes okay we're
85:56 good no yes what no yeah no yes the worst the worst thing that could ever be
86:00 said on a show um dollarshaveclub.com Linus sorry for not
86:05 switching to your lower third you guys are awesome I shave my face with that
86:08 all the time I literally shave my face with your company so I don't know what
86:13 you want to say about that but yeah
86:16 anyways also freshbooks if you are a small
86:21 business or a freelancer I know I was for a long time handling your own books
86:25 can be super annoying my dad was running a small business for a long time and I
86:28 think there's still people he hasn't build like now and he hasn't been
86:33 running that company for like what I assume would be about a year now so
86:38 maybe if he had fresh books he would have been able to do that a little bit better not to rag on my own dad dude I
86:44 just did my own taxes and I went through piles of receipts trying to organize it
86:48 I hear you and that sounds like a good idea yes completely agree all right I'm
86:52 gonna try to roll the intro and not fail let's see come
86:56 on yes intro except it's
87:02 lagging this Show's been lagging I I I wouldn't complain too
87:13 much imagine awesome
87:17 music I'm having to pretend cuz I can't say anything at all right now no I don't
87:21 just going to imagine what the intro looks like for
87:25 guet okay guys thanks for watching we'll see you next time goodbye later
