0:00 Okay, yes, I know, last episode, total cliffhanger with some of you expressing frustration that we left you with these apparently, whatever that means.
0:13 Anyway, we never meant to lead you on, but between the desk, the monitors, and the troubleshooting, it was just way too much for one video.
0:24 But we're back at it with 16K Gaming, and this episode will be the last, and it's going to work, we hope.
0:45 Synergy allows you to share your mouse and keyboard between multiple computers at once.
0:52 Check it out now at the link in the video description.
0:56 Okay, so here's where we left off.
0:58 Some of the monitors are running correctly, 4K 60Hz.
1:03 Some of them are not working at all.
1:06 And some of them are somewhere in between at this god-awful 1024x768 resolution with pillar boxes.
1:15 So, troubleshooting.
1:17 We reseated our graphics cards.
1:20 We double-checked the connections on our QuadroSync card.
1:23 And finally, it might be the painstakingly cable-managed 25-foot generic DisplayPort cables.
1:32 I've got the new ones.
1:35 Freaking fantastic.
1:37 Okay.
1:37 So, while Jake works on swapping the cables out, I want to get into a little bit more detail about the 16K experience we are trying to create here.
1:48 We wanted to upstage our last insane resolution gaming setup in every possible way.
1:55 So, we reached out to Acer, who graciously provided 16 of their 4K Predator XB1 gaming displays.
2:05 We weren't able to make use of all of them.
2:08 We wanted to make use of all of their gaming features like G-Sync and R-Config.
2:11 But, their IPS panels are an absolute must for a monitor array that's so large that in regular use,
2:20 you could actually be looking at it from 30 to 50 degrees off-center.
2:27 Let's move around to where Jake's working and take a closer look at the cabling.
2:32 Even with some clever cable management,
2:36 using these stealthed power lines,
2:38 using these stealthed power lines,
2:38 using these stealthed power bars that we've got here,
2:39 we needed four pounds of power cords,
2:44 and we actually need two wall circuits in order to run this monstrosity.
2:49 Because with a typical power consumption of around 70 watts each,
2:56 our monitors alone draw more than 1,100 watts from the wall.
3:03 And, sending an image to the monitors was no easy battle either.
3:08 So, our original setup had a whopping 300 feet of DisplayPort cabling all nicely managed into the desk.
3:17 Save for a little bit that's kind of hanging out the back here.
3:22 Jake's shrinking that down to 240 feet now.
3:27 Basically, a lot of DisplayPort cabling.
3:30 And, I think we've got all the replacements in, right?
3:33 Yep.
3:34 Okay!
3:36 Wait for it, wait for it.
3:38 Oh.
3:38 Hold on.
3:38 What?
3:39 What is this?
3:39 What?
3:40 What is this?
3:40 What?
3:41 What?
3:41 What?
3:44 This isn't 16 Gamer's One CPU, is it?
3:46 This isn't 16 Gamer's One CPU, is it?
3:46 No.
3:47 No.
3:47 Yes!
3:48 Yes!
3:48 Yes!
3:49 Wow, yeah.
3:49 Wait, are they all 4K?
3:50 Uh, looks like it, yeah.
3:51 Uh, looks like it, yeah.
3:52 Alright!
3:53 There it is!
3:54 16 Ks of soon-to-be gaming glory!
4:00 And this is probably even more impressive than you realize,
4:03 because remember, 16K is not twice as much as 8K.
4:09 And 8K is...
4:09 And 8K is...
4:10 And 8K is not twice as much as 4K.
4:13 We are talking about a 4X increase in pixel count as we move up.
4:18 So to put this thing in perspective,
4:22 look at the 1080p full HD monitor that you're probably watching this video on right now.
4:29 16K is 64 times the total pixels.
4:35 Your 1080p monitor would be this big.
4:39 That's it!
4:43 Now, let's talk about how we're planning to drive them.
4:47 We learned a lot from our last crazy experiment,
4:51 when we were the first to game at 8K on YouTube.
4:54 And there were three problems we needed to solve.
4:56 One, we were running a mere two graphics cards last time,
5:00 with consumer amounts of video memory.
5:02 That needed to be rectified.
5:04 Two, NVIDIA's consumer-grade display spanning,
5:07 NB Surround, is not very flexible.
5:10 Three, when you run a 3D application across multiple cards,
5:15 there can be a desynchronized jelly effect,
5:18 when you move left and right, that's pretty nauseating.
5:21 Thankfully, Guardian Angel NVIDIA saved the day,
5:25 supplying us with four of their Quadro P5000s,
5:31 valued at a total of about 10,000 US dollars.
5:36 And I saw a lot of comments on the last video,
5:38 like, why Quadros?
5:40 Quadros aren't for gaming.
5:41 Blah, blah, blah, blah.
5:43 Well, okay.
5:44 If you went to Linus University,
5:46 you would know that they game just fine.
5:49 And you'd also know that they address a lot of those problems for us.
5:53 Each of our P5000s has similar performance to a GTX 1080,
5:59 but with a whopping 16 gigs of VRAM.
6:02 So that is 64 gigs total for all DIMM pixels,
6:06 since we're not running an SLI.
6:09 Also,
6:10 professional Quadro cards have a different display combining utility,
6:15 called Mosaic,
6:17 that can scale to far more displays than NB Surround.
6:22 And finally,
6:23 to address the jelly effect,
6:25 and keep this entire wall of monitors in sync,
6:29 they have this extra little connector,
6:32 to plug into a Quadro Sync 2 card.
6:36 And it works.
6:39 Hopefully.
6:42 This is like the last video.
6:43 You told me it was going to work.
6:44 It is going to work.
6:45 Oh.
6:46 And it...
6:47 It worked.
6:48 And it...
6:49 Uh...
6:50 And it works.
6:51 Okay.
6:52 Now, to be clear,
6:53 this feature is really designed for jumbotrons
6:54 and large format digital signage,
6:55 like a Times Square video wall versus gaming.
6:56 But we appreciate NVIDIA agreeing to let us showcase it for that,
6:57 which is coming very, very soon now.
6:58 So,
6:59 let's get started.
7:00 So,
7:01 let's get started.
7:02 So,
7:03 let's get started.
7:04 So,
7:05 let's get started.
7:06 So,
7:07 let's get started.
7:08 So,
7:09 let's get started.
7:10 So,
7:11 let's get started.
7:12 So,
7:13 let's get started.
7:14 So,
7:15 let's get started.
7:16 So,
7:17 let's get started.
7:22 So,
7:23 let's get started.
7:24 So,
7:25 let's get started.
7:26 So,
7:27 let's get started.
7:28 So,
7:29 let's get started.
7:30 So,
7:31 let's get started.
7:32 So,
7:33 let's get started.
7:34 So,
7:35 let's get started.
7:36 So,
7:37 let's get started.
7:38 So,
7:39 let's get started.
7:40 So,
7:41 let's get started.
7:42 So,
7:43 let's get started.
7:44 It's actually pretty darn clean.
7:48 Okay, also, since we're in here, holy crap.
7:54 That's right, my friends, 15,360 by 8640.
7:59 And we are gonna launch some freaking games
8:03 after we take a closer look at the table.
8:07 So if you didn't see it in part one,
8:09 this custom version of Icy Table's desk
8:13 expands their normal design from six to 16 monitors.
8:18 But everything else about it is actually this cool,
8:21 even if you just get a regular one.
8:23 So the entirety of the desk is customizable
8:26 from the Bluetooth controllable RGB lighting
8:29 to the swappable fascia panels,
8:31 which might I mention come in a variety of colors.
8:34 The tempered glass desk can also sport a graphic under it,
8:37 which is pretty sick.
8:38 So you can show off your favorite game, car,
8:40 or waifu if that's your mojo.
8:42 And there's built-in,
8:43 cable management for the integrated case
8:45 that they call the T-Con.
8:48 This is some desk PC final form shit right here.
8:54 So are you ready to launch a game?
8:56 Yeah, what should we do first?
8:59 First?
8:59 Minecraft?
9:00 We gotta do some fucking Minecraft, yeah.
9:02 You almost need a separate desk
9:04 so you can desk while you desk.
9:06 Or, ooh.
9:07 Okay, hold on, I got this.
9:10 It's like, oh my goodness, that's a lot of pixels.
9:13 Loading world.
9:16 Wow.
9:18 Whoa.
9:19 Holy actual balls.
9:21 I will confess to you, I have never played Minecraft.
9:26 Do we have a fraps counter?
9:27 This is probably what, like 800 by 600?
9:30 So F11.
9:31 So we were at 400 FPS.
9:33 It's just gone.
9:35 Click F3.
9:36 I think you can see F3.
9:38 There we go.
9:38 There we go.
9:40 No.
9:41 No.
9:42 So we're running at like, ooh.
9:45 Ooh, we saw a hitch there.
9:46 We're running at like 40 to 50 frames per second
9:50 at 16K.
9:54 16K!
9:55 That's like 5 billion pixels a second
9:58 or something like that.
9:59 No, we can't see VRAM usage.
10:01 We just gotta get...
10:02 Do you have afterburner?
10:02 Afterburner, yeah.
10:04 No way!
10:05 Nine gigabytes.
10:06 Every GPU is using exactly the same amount of memory.
10:12 It might be shared, Jake.
10:14 Yeah.
10:15 All right, next game.
10:16 Let's do one that we haven't tried yet.
10:18 Rise of the Tomb Raider.
10:19 Go low settings just so we like have some VRAM possibilities there.
10:23 Sure.
10:24 Okay.
10:25 Here we go.
10:25 You ready?
10:26 Yeah.
10:29 Oh.
10:29 Whoa!
10:32 Okay.
10:32 Game launched.
10:34 No way.
10:38 Three FPS.
10:40 Remember...
10:41 Start benchmarks.
10:42 Remember there's more, there's more to lag about a game than just the frame rate.
10:46 Yeah.
10:46 Yeah.
10:47 Click.
10:50 Oh.
10:51 Yes!
10:51 Holy crap.
10:54 Like the game's not even running in real time right now.
10:58 Like, do you notice how long that fade took?
11:00 Yeah.
11:01 Yeah.
11:01 I mean, it looks great.
11:04 Even like up close, right?
11:05 Cause this is, this is still 4K level of detail on every screen, right?
11:12 Yeah.
11:12 I think this is about one frame per second.
11:16 Lara Croft is actually like your size.
11:19 Tallest.
11:19 Taller than me.
11:20 Look at this.
11:21 Look at her head, it's huge.
11:22 This is like, this is actual size.
11:25 You heard it here first.
11:26 This is video games in real size.
11:29 Maybe I didn't hold the escape key for long enough.
11:34 Oh, wow.
11:35 Yes.
11:35 I'm, oh, wow.
11:37 Oh, no.
11:39 Holy balls.
11:43 I gotta know what video memory, I mean, it must've just been pinned.
11:46 Yeah.
11:47 So we were purely limited by VRAM.
11:49 Like it was swapping out to system memory.
11:52 So that's interesting.
11:53 That means...
11:54 So we were at 65%.
11:55 So there was 30% more performance in there.
11:58 We could've been running at 1.3 frames per second.
12:00 Look at the power usage.
12:01 We only ever went up to 50.
12:04 On most of the phones.
12:04 Oh, that's really interesting.
12:05 So this is like frame, frame, frame, frame, frame, frame.
12:10 Like frame, system memory, frame, system memory.
12:15 Very interesting.
12:17 Well, let's just try Half-Life 2 then.
12:18 Here we go.
12:19 I mean, this is running on this.
12:21 Oh.
12:22 Oh, damn.
12:23 No way.
12:25 Wow.
12:26 Oh, my God.
12:30 Look at these tiny options.
12:32 We're at the right resolution.
12:34 Go to advanced in the bottom right there.
12:35 Hell yeah.
12:36 Can we turn off the setting?
12:37 Oh, my God.
12:38 It's like way over here.
12:39 Oh, crap.
12:41 Sorry.
12:41 This is actually...
12:41 How about you give me the mouse?
12:42 You know what?
12:42 No, I can do it.
12:43 You can do it.
12:45 And then once you get to the...
12:45 What's our frame rate?
12:47 Uh, 100.
12:49 Now 70.
12:51 No way.
12:52 That's totally playable.
12:53 Minus the like insane tearing.
12:56 Okay, let's turn V-Sync on.
12:58 Does it not have built-in V-Sync?
12:59 Oh, here it is.
13:00 Enabled.
13:00 There we go.
13:04 That actually fixed the tearing.
13:07 That's not bad.
13:09 Wow.
13:11 What are we at?
13:12 40?
13:13 How's the input lag?
13:15 You know what?
13:15 A lot better than you would think.
13:17 Memory usage is only 8 gigs.
13:21 Yeah, so temps are getting up there and power's getting up there.
13:25 Actually, not as much as I would have thought.
13:28 Very interesting.
13:30 All right.
13:31 So you can play Half-Life 2 at 16K.
13:37 Okay, what else we got?
13:38 Shadow of Mordor, maybe?
13:40 This is a disaster.
13:41 Geographical coordinates of our children's birthplace.
13:43 Putting Billy Bob Thornton on your ARM is a disaster.
13:47 I'm just looking for it.
13:48 Let's just launch it.
13:49 Oh, there you go.
13:50 Wow.
13:51 Wicked.
13:54 This is not the right resolution, though.
13:57 Not even close.
13:58 Yeah, this is like 1080 or something.
14:00 Loading.
14:01 And also, it's completely crashed now.
14:03 Okay.
14:04 Well, this game's just broke.
14:07 Did it manage to lock up the system?
14:09 Nope.
14:10 Okay, system's up.
14:12 All right.
14:12 So we're going to try one more game, then.
14:14 Say a five.
14:15 Oh, my God.
14:16 It worked.
14:16 Whoa.
14:18 Wow.
14:18 Oh, my goodness.
14:19 This is impossible to read.
14:22 Oh, my God.
14:22 Look at the UI.
14:24 You got your...
14:24 The mini-maps over here.
14:26 They took a mini-map to a whole nother level.
14:27 We got the settler over there.
14:29 How am I supposed to choose?
14:30 Okay, choose production for the...
14:32 Oh, my God.
14:33 Where is it?
14:34 Oh, my God.
14:35 It's way up there.
14:38 I'm going to make a granary.
14:40 A monument, you mean?
14:41 Is it a monument?
14:41 I don't know.
14:42 I can't read it.
14:43 What frame rate is this running at?
14:44 20.
14:45 20 FPS.
14:47 Not bad.
14:49 Do you have afterburner open?
14:50 Not bad.
14:52 All right.
14:53 Let's find out.
14:54 Civ V, medium details, 8K.
14:58 Not bad.
15:00 Power?
15:00 9 gigs.
15:02 Huh.
15:05 So there you have it, guys.
15:06 Once again.
15:07 You saw it here first.
15:11 16K gaming on the PC.
15:14 Let's see you do that on an Xbox.
15:17 Let's see you do 4K on an Xbox.
15:20 There are 100 reasons for wanting multiple computers at your desk.
15:27 Maybe you're a Mac person primarily,
15:29 but you need a non-virtualized Windows environment for some reason.
15:34 Synergy solves the problem of having to have two keyboards and two mice
15:39 for two or more sessions.
15:41 You can share one set of peripherals, so you'll no longer get confused,
15:46 and the whole thing is seamless.
15:48 You just drag the mouse from one screen to another.
