0:00 welcome to my unboxing and first look at the g500s from Logitech now I've checked
0:05 out the g400s and the g100s and quite frankly this is the one that I'm
0:10 genuinely excited about because there's some Logitech features that I really
0:14 felt were missing from the other ones that I guess you just got to kind of you
0:18 got to pay to play and if you wanted to get access to them you had to go for the
0:22 premium g500s so let's take a look at the overall specs really quick so it
0:26 does everywhere from 200 to 8200 DPI this is a laser Mouse and it is serious
0:31 business about the dpis I mean I don't think you'll ever really use 8200 DPI
0:35 but if you wanted to this mouse is capable of uh actually getting a useful
0:40 input if it's traveling at 4 meters per second which if you think of it in terms
0:45 of like if you're a low sensitivity gamer and you were going four meters per
0:48 second to do like a turn you'd have to basically go like you'd have to like
0:52 jump and spin in order to actually trip this mouse out and have it not work so
0:57 there you go uh up to 1,000 reports per second which is the maximum USB is
1:01 capable of Max acceleration of 30 G's 20
1:04 million clicks is what the buttons are rated for and the feet are rated for 250
1:08 km now I kind of mocked them with the 250 km in my G5 or g400s unboxing and I
1:14 was like well do they mean on ashalt or do they mean on uh a piece of glass but
1:20 it looks like they've actually thought of that tested on wood veneer desktop so
1:24 they actually tested it before they rated it for how long it's actually
1:29 going to to go for for so there you go I thought I thought that was interesting
1:32 if nothing else so the first Mouse I ever used with adjustable weights was a
1:35 Logitech mouse and I really felt like that feature separates it in terms of
1:40 customizability from the other things on the market I mean nowadays a lot of mice
1:45 have adjustable weights or like you know
1:49 adjustable you know wrist straps or whatever kinds of adjustable things that
1:54 go on but for me personally I would
1:57 rather find a mouse that is truly sculped in the shape that I want and
2:02 then I can tune the weight because that's the thing that matters most to me
2:06 so they've gone with the sort of classic Logitech weight system which is a
2:10 cartridge that loads in from the back at the
2:14 rear get it cartridge loads okay never mind uh so there's a cartridge that
2:18 loads in here which is where we found the the battery insert for the old G7 uh
2:23 which I still have one of kicking around somewhere and then there's a little
2:26 eject button right there that kicks it out uh the not the slippy feet on the
2:30 bottom are at the front side and back
2:33 and let's go ahead and get these opened up I'm going to need a minute for that though so the mouse is lightweight
2:38 without feeling cheap and it really doesn't it feels very solidly built um
2:42 however you can add up to whatever 9 *
2:45 three you can add up to 27 G to the mouse which will put it at the heavier
2:50 end of uh of mice and then what you can
2:53 also do is you can adjust where you want the weight so if you put more of the
2:57 weight towards the front you'll have a bit more of a front heavy Mouse what I
3:00 would probably do personally is I'd load more of the weight towards the back so
3:04 that I can more easily move this way
3:07 which is the way that I tend to use my mouse even though it's sort of bad for your wrist and you're not really
3:11 supposed to do that so logitech's whole thing with the new G Series is their
3:15 science winds branding where they're talking about the Advanced Materials
3:18 that they're using on the mouse now the difference between the g500s and the
3:22 g400s in aside from the fact that this
3:25 is using a gaming grade laser sensor as opposed to the optical sensor in the
3:28 g400 is that the grippy sides feel more
3:33 rugged and they feel more robust on the g500s like I actually don't think I can
3:38 scratch any of this off even if I go straight at it with a fingernail this
3:41 was the one complaint I had about the G9 which was otherwise my second favorite
3:45 mouse ever cuz it's awesome was that
3:48 like the the anti-slip coating just came off um about a year into owning it and I
3:54 really just I don't feel like this would happen with this but it's impossible to
3:58 say without waiting a little bit a little bit longer so other Logitech
4:02 features that I feel very strongly about this guy right here the unlocked scroll
4:06 wheel love to see that implemented it's
4:09 things like back and forward buttons unlock scroll wheel uh outstanding
4:14 Precision that really set a mouse apart from another one so all you have to do
4:17 see that so you can probably you can hear there's actual clicks to the mouse
4:22 wheel now you go ahead and press this and it disengages the
4:26 gear and it spins freely so it's great for scrolling through long documents I
4:30 actually used my G9 at work almost exclusively because of that because I
4:35 was often in Long Excel documents but the problem with the G9 is the button
4:38 was on the bottom which is not as good as having the button right here where
4:42 you can decide what mode do I want to be in and you can change it on the Fly
4:45 you've also got DPI changing buttons here back forward as well as another
4:49 programmable button here on the side uh
4:53 looks like yep we've got DPI indications
4:56 here so that has one two three settings and you can PR all of that in the
5:00 Logitech software I just want to see if there's anything that I forgot that I
5:04 wanted to say I don't know if I mentioned the 3year warranty already but
5:07 there you go and I think that's pretty
5:11 much it oh yeah you can reprogram all the buttons If you want and unlike the
5:14 g100s and the g400s the cable is braided
5:18 so it's got that premium braided look and it is less susceptible to damage
5:22 from caps I've actually had cables saved
5:26 um from cats vibrating so there you go it's a thing
