0:07 this is the eye microphone no it doesn't go in your eye
0:12 it goes in your eye product so this is
0:17 compatible with um iPhones iPads and
0:21 iPods it performs it can make it so that they can perform double duty as a
0:25 powerful digital voice recorder so what the whoops sorry guys so so what this is
0:30 is an incredible High sensitivity 3.5 mm
0:34 four pole omnidirectional condenser microphone for the iPhone iPad and iPod
0:39 so pretty much you're replacing the crummy microphone that's built into your
0:43 IE device with this one for better voice pickup so a great use for something like
0:48 this would be uh oh yeah look at that they've even got a listing if I was
0:52 going to say business meetings but they've got that on there ideal for voice recording for example lectures
0:56 interviews and business meetings um so for example you've got uh Speak Easy has
1:01 software that allows you to convert
1:04 recorded voice messages into text so you
1:07 could use that or speak naturally speak easy dragon something okay whatever
1:12 someone who remembers what the piece of software is that takes uh your voice and
1:16 turns it into text please leave that in the comments that piece of software it's
1:19 cheap it's like five bucks for the iPod
1:23 um would ideally be able to understand
1:26 your voice better and convert it to text more easily especially in the context of
1:30 a multivoice environment like a meeting or lecture or interview okay features
1:34 incredible High sensitivity RF shielding compact design and premium wind screen
1:38 is included okay uh specifications are here so you can feel free to pause and
1:43 read that should you so desire don't take this out when it's too cold outside
1:47 and we've also got a list of the products it is designed for although I
1:51 suspect it would work just fine in any microphone Jack so let's go ahead and
1:56 open this baby up
2:00 what I'll have to do for you guys is do a couple of audio recording
2:04 samples where I use the integrated microphone on my iPhone 4 versus the IM
2:11 microphone so there's the premium wind screen made of foam I screen the wind
2:16 for
2:20 you also works for that whatever that is
2:23 all right and this is the IM microphone
2:27 itself
2:30 so it has like a very solid feeling construction to it there's the
2:35 microphone
2:38 okay there's the Jack here's what it
2:42 looks like if you put the wind screen on
2:49 it oh it's like totally wearing an
2:58 afro there we go that's on now put that in there now your iPhone
3:04 has an afro okay I'll do the audio samples in a minute don't forget to
3:08 subscribe to L's Tech tips for more unboxings reviews and other computer
3:12 videos so we tested from a distance of about 3et on the IM microphone and
3:17 besides um it being a lot louder with the IM microphone versus the integrated
3:21 one the integrated microphone actually was more clear so it seems like we're
3:25 probably using it in the wrong application we were so close to it in a
3:29 quiet enir maybe that's not what it's intended for so I figured what if I go further away
3:34 and do an audio test instead so the IM microphone is sitting there on the table
3:38 you can just point at it okay and I'm going to go over here
3:43 and I'm going to say something so this is testing the IM
3:48 microphone at a distance of however far away this
3:53 is and this is testing oh okay he hadn't
3:57 hit it yet and this is tting testing the
4:00 integrated microphone from a distance of however far away I am right
4:05 now okay so I'm just going to show you guys the testing here so this is uh one
4:10 audio clip that has both the IM microphone and the integrated microphone
4:14 from a greater distance in it go over here and I'm this is with the ey
4:19 microphone so this is testing the ey microphone at a distance of for far away
4:24 this is
4:30 and this is testing the integrated microphone from a distance of however
4:33 far away I am right now so you can
4:37 clearly here that the integrated
4:40 microphone does not pick up as much sound as the IM microphone although what
4:46 that does mean is it results in a slightly more clear sounding recording
4:50 but it's all a matter of what is your objective if your objective is to catch
4:54 more of the Ambient sound overall more sound then yes the IM microphone is far
4:59 more sensitive in the integrated mic so if you do use your iPhone iPod iPad any
5:03 kind of IE device for a substantial amount of voice recording then something
5:08 like this might not be a bad little pickup
