welcome to Techquickie I'm Linus and in today's episode of 1 minute or less
0:03
we're going to show you how to install your AMD CPU step one is to lift the
0:08
retaining ARM step two align the little Golden
0:13
Triangle on the corner of the CPU with the little triangle-shaped marker on the
0:17
motherboard itself set the CPU down on the socket
0:23
giving it a little wiggle until it falls into place then you can lower the ARM
0:29
the box for your processor contains a CPU heat sink that has thermal compound
0:33
pre-applied to the bottom of it and an easy to use mounting mechanism that
0:37
doesn't require any special tools make sure that you remove the plastic cover
0:42
before proceeding with step three which is to place the CPU heat SN down on top
0:46
of the CPU ensuring that the fan cable coming out of the fan is as close to the
0:52
fan header on the motherboard labeled CPU as
0:55
possible if the wires coming out of the fan ever get caught in the blades it can
1:00
cause the fan to stop spinning which can make your CPU overheat so to make Cable
1:04
Management a little bit easier I usually tie a knot in the wires before plugging
1:08
the wires into the CPU fan header now
1:11
that everything's in place the tool-free latch mechanism can be engaged first on
1:16
one side pushing it under the hook and then on the other side this
1:21
last step is very important moving the mounting ARM down into its locked
1:25
position puts the appropriate amount of pressure on top of the CPU to to Aid
1:30
with thermal transfer one other trick to get slightly better temperatures is to
1:34
give the heat sink a little wiggle to settle the thermal compound into place
