0:00 since I uploaded my unboxing only yesterday there's been a ton of demand
0:06 to do at least a couple benchmarks maybe some overclocking on the assus Aries so
0:12 here it is installed in a core i7 test platform I'm running oops I'm tripping
0:17 all over things I'm running 6 gigs of RAM over there I'm running a core i7
0:22 980x 6 Core Extreme Edition processor
0:25 and the assus Aries so I've got my three
0:29 graphics card PCI Express power connectors plugged in two of these are
0:32 eight pin one of them is a six pin so the other two pins are just hanging off
0:36 the edge there if you listen you can hear that
0:40 the fan is actually quite silent
0:44 now I would love to use the ASUS smart
0:47 doctor software and they'll probably fix this later but you can see right now it
0:52 comes up with an error that says cannot find ASUS graphics card um so I'm G to
0:58 be using afterburner so that one detects it properly graphics card assus Aries
1:03 driver version latest Catalyst drivers so just to give you some idea of how
1:07 this card runs Sorry my phone's going off there uh we're going to go ahead and
1:11 okay so I'll let you listen to it at uh at default Auto speed so this is with
1:16 the fan speed at 20% and now I'm going to turn the fan
1:19 speed up to 100 just to get you give you some idea how high this thing can
1:27 go pretty impressive I I'll be surprised
1:30 if you can actually even hear me very well that's right up there with uh GTX
1:35 480 levels of uh noise production there is a significant amount of air flow
1:41 coming out of either side of this card uh very very very
1:46 significant anyway let's turn that back to
1:50 Auto there we go it ramps right back down so we're going to run 3D Mark
1:54 Vantage see how loud it actually gets during The Benchmark here and what kind
1:59 of scores we get out of this particular card and then we're going to overclock
2:02 it and see how much we can improve it beyond
2:05 that during The Benchmark run this is about what it sounds like uh the ambient
2:10 temperatures in my office here are 26° C and I'm taking that temp from
2:15 right in front of the graphics C so you can easily compare that sound
2:20 level to the one that I had before with
2:23 uh with the card running at Auto at idle at the desktop as well as the 100% load
2:28 it's not uh not rively loud although it is definitely definitely Audible and
2:33 this is at a non overclocked setting okay the benchmark's done so at stock
2:38 speeds with a 4 GHz core i7 980x CPU
2:42 actually it's 3.99 something High not quite 4 GHz
2:47 anyway we get about 30,000 marks in 3D
2:51 marks so that's the performance preset and let's have a look at what we're
2:55 seeing in terms of GPU temperatures so GPU 1 Peaks at around
3:01 67° and my room is running at about just
3:04 turn my temp prob back on give it a
3:07 minute my room's running a little oh it's running give it a sec running about
3:13 the same it's running at about 26° so we see it go as high as about 40 a 40°
3:19 Delta up as high as 68 or so here uh GPU
3:22 2 runs quite a bit cooler actually about
3:26 10° cooler on GPU 2 um what I'm getting
3:29 guing is that this is GPU 1 and this is GPU 2 because you can see the air flow
3:34 comes out completely unrestricted from this side of the card but over here
3:38 you've got this PCI back plate uh blocking it so you don't get as much uh
3:42 as much air being vented out that way now in terms of everything else you can
3:46 see GPU usage is as high as 99% on both
3:50 and GPU fan speed oh that's interesting it doesn't seem to
3:54 detect uh fan speed
3:58 correctly in after Bur here for some
4:01 reason because I know it went up higher than that let me see if I can
4:06 um oh yeah no fan speed's just not um I
4:10 can't even adjust it now I just did that a minute ago
4:14 anyway I'll be back with more overclocking benchmarks thank you for
4:18 checking out my video blog and uh I'll be updating you shortly actually oh here
4:23 I should explain this the the 1.5 GHz is just because of uh speed step it goes up
4:28 to 4 GHz as soon as you do anything here
4:37 example there you go
