0:08 welcome to my unboxing of the Corsair carbide series 400r case here you can
0:13 see a kind of blown up view of the case and while I could show you all of the
0:17 features on here I am not really going to do that because we're going to open
0:20 up the case anyway and I would rather show you on the actual chassis itself
0:25 right now I'm just showing you the box because this is an unboxing although I
0:29 don't like to think of them as just unboxings because unboxings are usually
0:33 pretty dry to be honest so right now I'm
0:37 making an incision on this side and now I'm making incision on the other side
0:41 now I'm really excited about what's inside this box and I think that uh you
0:46 guys will be excited too because uh yeah
0:49 this is pretty this is pretty cool look at this oh wow unbox um so you know what
0:54 I'm not going to make you guys sit through that give me two seconds I'm going to get the case extracted from the
0:58 padding I just want to show you guys the styrofoam packaging so they've gone
1:03 with sort of thin here but up to about an inch plus thick on the sides and then
1:08 on the top we're looking at about the same thickness wow look at that uh about
1:12 an inch or even more depending on which part of the case is being supported by
1:16 the foam inserts they are using a stiff foam this is a value case so Corsair has
1:21 gone with saving a little bit of money on the packaging compared to their more
1:25 expensive cases like the 650d or the 800d
1:30 so the first thing I noticed about this case was that it has a pretty robust
1:33 carrying handle on the top of it we'll go ahead and put that down there so you
1:37 can kind of see nice and deep so even if you have long fingers you're going to be
1:40 able to get a good grip on that on the top we find dual 120 mm fans or dual 140
1:47 mm fans and what's cool is the way Corsair has spaced this out it's so that
1:52 you can actually put the fans right next to each other for a clean aesthetic
1:56 whether they're 120 or whether they're 140 because they have expanded the 140
2:00 compatibility out the other side rather than spacing the sorry about that guys
2:05 we ran out of space and all the footage on there was important so I don't really
2:09 remember where I left off yesterday but here we are so it has the carrying
2:13 handle we talked about that it has the fan spacing which is pretty ideal I
2:18 believe we talked about that briefly let's do a bit of an overview of the
2:22 outside of the case as a whole so in addition to those dual 120s or dual 140s
2:26 on the top we've also got dual 120s or dual 140s here on the side so this is
2:31 going to give you a ton a buttload so to
2:34 speak of air flow over your CPU area as well as your video card area and then on
2:40 the back for other cooling options we've
2:44 also got a 120 or 140 mm fan Mount
2:47 whichever you choose to go with 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 look at that this is one of the
2:53 least expensive cases I've yet seen that
2:56 has eight expansion slots so that's will allow you even even with a standard ATX
3:00 board you can sometimes use a expansion slots because if you have a PCIe slot
3:04 right at the bottom you can then install a dual slot a dual width graphics card
3:09 in that very bottom slot without any difficulty so that's that's pretty cool
3:13 okay on the other side we see that the overall design of the case uh favors a
3:19 narrow narrower footprint to the case and then a widening of the side panels
3:23 for better cable routing better Cable Management that's one of the things
3:26 Corsair is good about they have good aesthetic to their cases but they also
3:30 really do take functionality into consideration when they are designing
3:35 these things so on the front we've got our power button our hard drive LED two
3:39 USB 3.0 ports a microphone Port headphone Port firewire port now that's
3:43 an odd one um but hey I guess some people still use it that looks like some
3:48 kind of an LED button H okay and then
3:52 finally we have a reset button four 5
3:56 and 1/4 in Bays which is a good number and then in the front we've got another
4:00 two 120 mm fans which we can see through
4:04 that uh that mesh on the front so this is definitely a Cooler's dream because
4:10 one two three four surface four of the
4:14 six surfaces of this case actually have room to mount cooling fans and by four
4:20 what I meant was five because you can
4:25 clearly see on the bottom here there is room to mount yet another single 120 mm
4:31 or single 140 mm fan and I forgot to
4:34 turn on my light so there that's on now should be a little bit better for you
4:38 guys all right what else do we find
4:41 inside this is interesting the motherboard
4:45 tray is actually
4:49 recessed so what they've done here is
4:52 they've taken what is normally a flat
4:56 back plane on a case like this and here
5:00 I'm going to hold up the side panel just so that I can show you guys um so you
5:04 can kind of relate this to the side panel on the other side so where the
5:08 side panel doesn't uh jut out as much
5:12 they've gone with a flat like uh like a
5:15 they've gone with something that's even with the overall profile of the case and
5:19 then where the side panel bulges out so where it bulges out like this they've
5:23 recessed the motherboard tray so throughout the entire back of the
5:29 motherboard tray and then back behind
5:32 here behind the rubber grommets you should have consistent space for
5:36 managing cables very very interesting something I haven't seen before standard
5:41 ATX only so you're not going to be able to fit any wider motherboards or longer
5:46 motherboards due to that design decision but I mean 99% of Boards out there are
5:52 going to fit just fine anyway so I wouldn't worry too much about it we've
5:56 also got on the inside okay so we pointed out the 120 mil fan already
5:59 these are going to be useful for you so you're going to go ahead and mount your
6:03 uh bottom mounted power supply here we've got a removable filter that acts
6:08 as both a filter for this fan intake as well as the power supply bottom 120 mm
6:14 intake rubber grommets here keep the power supply from being damaged or
6:17 scratched or moving around all right so you're going to be able to Route all
6:20 your cables up through here and then coming out wherever they are needed
6:24 speaking of cables coming out where they're needed these are your front
6:27 panel connectors so I'm go ahead and see if I can remove the cover on
6:35 here and I'm not having a whole lot of
6:38 success just just now but I think I've
6:41 made progress yes I have there we
6:44 are all right so we find USB
6:49 3 HD audio front panel so there's all
6:52 your switches and LEDs and finally your front fire wire or 1394 as PC guys are
6:58 supposed to call it last but but not least we've got a power connector so I'm
7:01 guessing that's something to do with that light button there all right in
7:05 terms of mounting we've got 5 and 1/4 in toolless mounts here you also have the
7:09 option of screwing them in both at the front and the back if you are shipping
7:13 the system or whatever else you want it to be more secure you're going to go ahead and do that uh we've got here six
7:19 mounts for both 3 and 1/2 in using tooless uh grommy things here as well as
7:25 2 and 1/2 in using screws hard drive sleds in terms of accessor series I'm
7:30 going to go ahead and have a look at what's included here in this box oh
7:34 that's so funny look at this it's the size and shape of it's like a hard drive
7:38 uh placeholder kind of thing it's got holes in the side for hard drive may put
7:42 it in there brilliant I guess all right oh oh
7:47 this is a great inclusion USB 3 to USB 2 adapter so if you don't have USB 3 on
7:51 your motherboard natively you go ahead you throw that on there you plug this
7:55 into your USB 2 header you got USB 2 on the front handy all right we got some uh
8:00 screws fan screws how many have they
8:03 included 1 2 3 4 1 2 3 4 so enough to mount three fans so I wonder what I
8:10 wonder which particular mounts those are
8:14 for cuz usually these are used for mounting fans to radiators they're the
8:18 ones with the long bolts and then the screws in the front if you guys have any
8:22 insight as to why they've included this particular type of uh fan screw I would
8:29 love to hear about it so there you go
8:32 all right next we've got some hard drive screws we've got some optical drive
8:36 screws we've got some power supply screws some cable management zip ties
8:40 and little plastic clips and finally a few motherboard standoffs cuz most of
8:45 the motherboard standoffs are already built into the case now I've talked a
8:49 lot about the cable management of this case but this is all based on sort of my
8:53 impressions of what it might be like because I haven't opened up the other
8:58 side panel yet so I'm going to go ahead and do that now and we're going to find
9:03 out if I was right so I'm going to lay that down like that so you can kind of
9:07 see uh if I was on the right track here so yes so there's more room here due to
9:13 this uh like indentation of the back of the tray and then there's less room sort
9:18 of here so it's works up probably about the same as here where there's the Bulge
9:22 and here where the motherboard sits a little bit further back so I'm guessing
9:25 what Corsair's done here is two things they've given you room to manage CA at
9:29 the back and they've done a nice thin case that also has room for tall CPU
9:34 heat sinks they've also given you a very large hole at the back of the
9:38 motherboard tray in order to install any back plate requiring CPU heat sinks or
9:42 water cooling units without removing your motherboard uh they've shown you
9:46 how to use the cable management here lots of little Loops here for uh
9:50 securing zip ties here here uh okay
9:54 that's pretty much it not much here but then the only thing you're going to run up here is your 8 Pin EPS which they've
9:59 left space for and I think that pretty much covers it so thank you for checking
