this is a product I'm actually quite excited to have a look at this is the
0:03
vision Tech candy board it's a wireless Mini keyboard with a built-in touchpad
0:08
so one of the things that they're saying is so cool about this is that the fact
0:12
that is the fact that the touchpad is capable of being used in both a
0:16
horizontal or a vertical position and also that the quality of the touchpad is
0:21
right up there with the ones that you'd find on a laptop versus some of the
0:24
other kind of uh lame touchpad integrated keyboard units that uh just
0:29
use really low quality touchpad like it's basically as if it's not even
0:33
really meant to be used it has a built-in laser pointer so I guess you
0:36
could use it for pointing at stuff it has a USB connector with no drivers
0:40
needed and it has a little compartment to store the USB dongle there's a USB
0:45
input for charging the unit and it works with Windows PS3 Xbox 360 Mac and Linux
0:51
so basically everything you could want I
0:54
lost my unboxing knife when I accidentally tried to take my keychain
0:59
onto the plane with me when I went to Markham and not really thinking about it
1:04
before uh taking my keys I left my knife
1:08
on the keys and obviously that got confiscated by airport security um
1:13
funnily enough not until the return ride so the Vancouver airport did not find
1:17
the knife whereas the Toronto Airport did so that's the candy board it is Tiny
1:23
like I have small hands and already it's like you can see it's like a palm palm
1:27
sized keyboard okay let's just have a look look at what accessories are
1:31
included if any and then we'll move on from there so we have a USB cable uh for
1:35
charging the device then we have the users manual
1:40
turn off this device in the hospital attention to do not operate this device
1:45
while driving okay that's good these are good safety precautions they're giving
1:49
us here all right well here's a little uh map of the keyboard let's go ahead
1:53
and take it out so it's got the little laser caution on it it's because it does
1:57
have an included laser pointer so so that's the first thing I want to try
2:01
let's flip the switch to on and then try
2:04
the laser pointer ha it has a laser pointer cool okay so you can oh here
2:10
here here's an idea what's
2:17
that they love chasing the laser pointer that's rocket here's
2:22
Rumble okay anyway I digress the candy
2:25
board then so here's the touchpad the touchpad is big enough to be comfortably
2:29
used with the thumb and that's exactly the position that it's there for
2:34
although with a finger you might get a little bit more range out of it because
2:37
the thumb you see I can't actually move my thumb too much on it and let's have a
2:41
look at the keyboard itself actually I did want to talk about the layout of it
2:45
so here so here's the touchpad there's the laser pointer there's the direction
2:50
Keys okay so that's handy to have and
2:53
then uh there's a left Mouse button a right Mouse button so in case you want
2:56
to operate the touchpad like this that would work quite quite well for you so I
3:00
guess the touchpad can also be used this way although I don't know if there's a
3:04
toggle for that or if it just knows uh
3:07
which way it's being used okay so function
3:12
keys okay function alt is oh there's your start key so if you hold function
3:16
and press that one that's your start key here's your Windows key wait what oh no
3:20
this is the 90° flip aha there's the start key the Windows key okay so that's
3:24
how you flip the touchpad to uh to operate it this way okay that's cool
3:29
power switch here's your RF communication indicator as well as your battery
3:33
indicator and uh there's your shift or function not sure which one it is
3:37
indicator so you have a caps log key tab Escape shift you've got basically a full
3:42
keyboard on here let's see how easily you can actually type on it so if I was
3:45
want to go to
3:49
www.nc.com I mean that's really what this is for it's just like entering a
3:53
web address for your media PC like you're not going to use it a ton but um
3:58
I'd say that you know it's tough because this thumb
4:04
very comfortably reaches all of the left hand Keys whereas this thumb because of
4:08
my smaller hands actually only probably reaches comfortably to about the K or
4:12
even just the L so if it was shorter you might be able to reach them all but then
4:17
you'd be compromising because you wouldn't have the touchpad anymore so
4:21
the device is quite thin let's have a look at where the USB key uh wireless
4:25
receiver is stored it's quite large actually uh unexpectedly large but uh
4:30
it's not Bluetooth so I don't know if that matters it's a 2.4 GHz wireless
4:35
dongle there it is so we can put that back in and then other than that I guess
4:40
there's not too much else to say there is the candy board from Vision tech one
4:44
of the other cool things about it is it's quite a lot cheaper than most of the other touchpad uh keyboard combo
4:49
units and it really does at the size of a remote because that's really the size
4:53
that we're looking at here at the size of a remote it has great functionality
4:57
and the price is pretty reasonable so I'd say it's pretty cool
5:00
pretty cool mg let's see if we can find a
5:03
cat hey
5:09
hey and that laser pointer is a great little feature
