0:41 so hopefully that looked pretty cool because I'm currently at Square One all
0:46 I have right now is a whole bunch of awesome computer parts and 18 lbs of
0:51 amethyst crystals yep as you may have seen I
0:55 wasn't just going to have colored light representing the inside of a geode I I
1:00 want it to really feel like you're looking inside of an actual geode that
1:05 happens to have some Wicked looking computer parts and in order to make it
1:09 look like that I must build so without
1:12 further Ado let's get to
1:23 it hp's new Omen X lineup comes equipped
1:26 with Intel's 7th generation core i7 processor check it out in the link in
1:29 the video description hey yo homie G we building
1:33 the computer see first things first I should probably see if this stuff is
1:37 even going to function I've had some of these things for a while now um and
1:42 they've just been kind of sitting here and I don't even know if they work
1:46 W so right off the bat I need to actually like test all the stuff I've
1:51 been sourcing the things for this computer for the greater part of 2016
1:55 and now it's 2017 so I haven't taken
1:59 some of these things over their boxes in so long that they have like dust on them
2:03 the first thing I'm going to install into my strix x99 gaming motherboard is
2:08 an i7 6900k which is going to be
2:11 fantastic because I've been struggling on my twitch stream for a long time now
2:16 with an i72600k and Windows 10 which don't
2:21 really go very well together I can barely stream rocket League bring it
2:25 one of the nice things about this motherboard too isn't just that like
2:29 it's a really great looking motherboard and it's going to be a solid motherboard
2:34 is this like RGB header down at the bottom right here not the easiest thing
2:40 to see ever but I can plug in my like cable mod RGB cables into that and syn
2:45 all the lighting in my system which is going to be rather awesome considering
2:50 uh the importance of lighting in this build now I'm going to install some RAM
2:55 some clev memory I really like this clev
2:58 crass stuff I don't see very many people use it but I just think it looks awesome
3:04 one thing that was pretty important when I was picking all these computer parts
3:07 was that they looked nice but rather minimalistic because I didn't want the
3:12 computer parts to visibly take away from
3:16 the amethyst crystals I wanted them to accent it so white lighting or having
3:21 Lighting in general was rather important and then the rest of it I basically just
3:25 wanted it to be black I'm hoping I checked for
3:29 compatibility with the cooler I did this so long ago that I don't remember but
3:33 that's some tall memory and this is a big
3:38 cooler man this looks amazing already have you ever wanted to like stop a
3:42 build partway through and just be like it can stay like this now let's see if
3:46 this cooler is even going to fit how am I supposed to open this I
3:52 can't get it open I don't want to break it so
3:58 that's what they want it to look like and in that configuration it would
4:02 definitely not fit oh man okay okay
4:06 hopefully my idea for how this should go will make it fit let's
4:10 see come off fan oh my God maybe not the mounting is
4:19 in a weird spot I think if this was in the middle it would actually fit to the
4:24 point where I might need to take off like this entire black section in order
4:30 to make it fit for those wondering why I would use an air cooler and not just go
4:35 water cooling um the rig is called Geodude Geodude is a rock and ground
4:40 type in Pokemon both of which are weak to water at the same time I can't put
4:46 water in this build that wouldn't make any sense at all he would take more than
4:50 just double damage from that it would be 4X the original damage of the water
4:54 attack there is no way that I would risk
4:57 Geodude I will make this work so I'm modifying the cooler to try to
5:04 make the one side shorter as you can hopefully see right there and hopefully
5:09 that'll get over the RAM I do know right now that these heat pipes also go too
5:13 far out okay so I think it's actually going
5:18 to work we've bent the heat pipes back there's like dents in the heat pipes
5:24 from uh where I was pushing but I don't think we actually ruptured anything I
5:30 was able to make uh the one side taller
5:33 than the other yeah like it gets over the RAM and it doesn't really push the
5:37 RAM over it all so now all I need to do
5:41 is try to get this guy to go back on
5:44 here somewhat like that so that you can't tell that I
5:50 screwed up so it's like actually going to size up pretty well wonder if I can
5:56 get the fan back in
6:02 I did not think that would work at
6:06 all oh my goodness I can't believe this is going on right now I've almost got
6:11 the cooler on um bringing it lower
6:16 by I'm an idiot I didn't put thermal paste
6:23 on that wasn't even planned or scripted we just started
6:27 filming damn it I've spent so long trying to screw
6:33 this there you go so it worked
6:38 everything's on I actually put freaking thermal paste on it this time uh it
6:42 looks sort of horrible from this angle
6:46 you can totally tell that it's wonked out but when you'll actually be looking
6:49 at it in the case it looks
6:54 fine now like 2 hours later we're
6:57 finally continuing on with trying to see if any of the components even
7:02 work great wonderful so all of the RAM
7:07 is installed the CPU is installed the cooler is installed now I just need to
7:11 get a GPU on here plug things into the power supply and make sure that we can
7:15 actually post
7:32 all right so power spy switch on time where is the power switch here it
7:36 is CPU Cooler fan spinning graphics card fan spinning and then they turned off
7:41 because they're supposed to do that power supply fan did the same thing I've
7:44 got a monitor back here which is not
7:49 responding oh hey okay everything does seem to be
7:55 working moving on hell yeah now to put
7:59 it in the case there we
8:03 go it's upside down all
8:11 right oh I'm excited to work with you
8:17 again okay so iot tray I remember that I
8:21 got to do that right
8:24 now okay so I'm swapping out the default
8:27 ASUS stricks logos um I never checked the manual on how to do this so
8:31 hopefully just tearing them off was the approved method of removing them and I'm
8:36 going to put on black and silver ones that came in the Box because this goes
8:40 really well with my whole
8:45 theme God damn I can just never touch
8:48 that again all right into the computer
8:51 we
8:54 go let me see what this looks like oh my
8:58 God even with without all the drives and
9:01 all the amethyst crystals this thing already has some weight to it oh jeez
9:06 this is going to be one hell of a build so I got rid of the boring power spy
9:10 cables and got this plain brown
9:14 box anyways cable mod stuff hopefully
9:17 this doesn't spill everywhere oh my goodness okay so I got a whole bunch of
9:23 cable Combs which will come in use later for organizing cables mainly that are
9:28 behind the motherboard trip and I got a bunch of lighting strips the
9:34 cables that I went with I actually collaborated with the Forum mod team on
9:38 their design are purple silver black and
9:42 white in different variations depending on which cable you have and the SATA
9:46 cables are just purple it's a pretty bright compared to the rest of the build
9:50 but I did want them to stand out a little bit cuz they look beautiful so
9:54 yeah I'm going to do like two more cable
9:58 runs just for the graphics cards but
10:01 everyone else needs to go for the day so
10:05 time lapse mode
10:09 engage so I had a rough night we had a lot of issues I spent like six freaking
10:14 hours cable managing this thing and it's not as good as it was but I'm kind of
10:18 done with that now so this is where we're going to be uh the power supply
10:23 was not it things were bad it was showing LEDs on the motherboard but I
10:27 couldn't actually turn the system on and it was Troublesome to figure out how I
10:31 ended up swapping out the power spy trying a different one eating some pizza
10:35 and working through it figured out that it was the graphics card cables I think
10:39 they just weren't seated well enough into the power supply itself I must have
10:42 tugged on them or something I'm not entirely sure but we are up and
10:45 operational now so it is time to add the
10:49 18 lbs of amethyst crystals the whole
10:52 interesting part of this entire build is finally starting and I've got to wash
10:57 some Stones now that they're all in the bath it's time to get rid of the like
11:01 caked on dust and grime existing on basically all of them from lingering
11:06 impurities and the grinding against each other that happened in shipping and
11:09 storage for so long I'm going to use some scrubbing tools to get rid of what
11:13 I can and hope that what I can't fix just won't show now that that's done I'm
11:18 going to rinse them all off with distilled water just to ensure that
11:21 they're at the very least clean before trying to secure them all I don't
11:26 actually want to Tumble them tumbling them would make the surfaces smooth
11:29 smooth and I want them to be kind of
11:32 jagged this is just me like trying
11:35 some okay so all the rocks are clean I've laid them out in like somewhat of a
11:40 size order so I've got really small almost pebbl size amethysts over here
11:45 and then they get really big over here um you can make jokes about how I'm
11:50 feeling the positive energy of all the crystals because this looks freaking
11:54 awesome this section right near the power spot here that hugs all the way up
11:58 the side I love love that bit and then the top area here is more just a proof
12:03 of concept it definitely needs some work there's too much gap between some of
12:07 them and it's too easy to see the individual LEDs but if I can get the
12:12 whole area looking like this that's what I'm going for I got a lot of work ahead
12:16 of me so uh let's go
12:35 look at this that's the glass fully
12:39 on very
12:50 nice so I'm like really sad uh hopefully
12:54 you guys just watched a really cool time lapse of me putting in a huge amount of
12:58 amethyst stones and then I did a whole bunch more work after the camera died
13:03 and finished up with what we've got right now as you can tell though it's
13:07 off and the CPU is out of the socket and I have some other weird RAM in
13:11 there the entire right hand side of
13:15 memory doesn't work this whole Bank of memory all four sticks none of it works
13:21 it all detects in the BIOS as na not applicable no RAM there and if they're
13:26 plugged in at all it is unstable doesn't matter what RAM I I use I swapped out
13:30 the CPUs so this is a 6900k this is a
13:35 6950x I tried both of them
13:39 oh forget about that please that never happened don't no stop don't look at it
13:45 anyways tried both of those doesn't work
13:49 it's the motherboard the motherboard is the issue we have another x99 stricks in
13:54 the office I can swap it out we can RMA this one everything's fine except I just
14:00 spent all of those hours gluing it in
14:05 place so the plan now is to try to do a
14:09 motherboard rescue I have to get it out of there the top part won't be all that
14:14 difficult to get out but the lower section is going to be a lot of work I
14:19 have to get both the graphics cards out of there in order to get the motherboard out so in the end I had to take out all
14:25 of the amethysts right up here and most of them coming along this way but then
14:29 was able to get away with leaving this big one which is good and a couple other
14:34 little ones as well but it might be a different story trying to get those
14:38 graphics cards back inside now it's time to put the motherboard in which I have
14:42 already prepped with the NVMe drive uh my 6900k and the mounting screws for my
14:48 radiator um and I've swapped out the colors of the custom stricks logos so
14:54 yeah time to go let's get the drives plugged in okay so the motherboard board
14:59 is back in now I have to try to get those gpus back in the bottom GPU I'm a
15:03 little bit worried about so oh I think I got it oh what is I was saying that it
15:09 popped right there oh that is
15:13 good okay all right that went far better than
15:18 expected that wasn't too bad it works it
15:22 actually works all 64 gigs fully detects
15:25 and the SLI works I can verify it on this screen right over here everything
15:30 is fine all I need to do now is put the amethysts back that I took out put the
15:35 glass panels on do some performance testing and we're good so putting all
15:41 those amethysts back worked fine it wasn't too hard I kind of got used to it
15:45 at that point it looks great but we'll look at Glam footage of it in a moment
15:50 for now benchmarking benchmarking for this was a little bit unique because
15:53 what I really cared about was how much better it would stream video games so I
15:58 had to bench Mark things while streaming using xsplit up to Twitch games acted a
16:05 little bit oddly but there was pretty huge Improvement it's something like
16:08 Metro last Light I went from seeing an average of 74 frames per second to an
16:13 average of 120 that's fantastic by itself something like Tomb Raider I went
16:18 from 65 FPS to still 65 FPS if I turned off
16:26 xplit and didn't stream I did get 77 FPS
16:29 but still but looking at minimums on the geothermal map I went from 4.45 FPS to
16:36 28 which is pretty substantial Hitman
16:40 direct X11 I went from an average of 19 to an average of 50 that's a pretty
16:45 major Improvement DSX mankind I went from an average of 30 with a minimum of
16:51 21 and a maximum of 39 to an average of
16:54 56 a minimum of 40 and a maximum of 91
16:58 but all of those performance improvements aside the main thing that I like about this computer is what it
17:03 looks like so we can stop looking at me and by the way I have a huge amount of
17:09 hair right now and my beard is ridiculous because when we first started
17:13 filming this I decided that I wouldn't get a haircut and I wouldn't shave until
17:16 we were done cuz I knew it was going to take forever and I'm disgusting so after
17:20 this video I'm going to go take care of this that'll be that'll be a good thing

17:54 at Glam footage of my computer and uh
17:57 yeah while you're looking at GL Des footage on my computer I guess if you check out the link down below there's uh
18:03 links to Amazon where you can buy some stuff that you saw in this video there's
18:07 a place where you can buy some shirts there's the like and dislike button so
18:10 you can press the one that says like on it you can get subscribed cuz this video
18:14 was so freaking cool and uh no I'm not
18:17 going to link another video actually no I'm lying there will be another video up
18:21 there eventually maybe now and then we can just keep the Glam footage going
18:25 afterwards but it'll be the Fallout bomb build that I did which was another epic
18:29 video I'll see you guys next time
