0:00 welcome to another episode of how to here on line Tech tips today I'll be
0:04 showing you how to optimize your drive setup if you're rocking a separate SSD
0:09 and hard drive using one of each kind of Drive in your rig has become a very
0:14 popular option for people that want to keep their operating system and their
0:18 frequently used programs such as their favorite games on their quick SSD and
0:23 data such as videos photos music and their massive steam libraries on these
0:28 slower mechanical hard drive to keep it all safe if something happens to your
0:33 operating system installation and to keep the cost of storage
0:44 down cooler Master's master case maker 5
0:47 features their free form modular system allowing you to customize adjust and
0:52 upgrade make it yours at the link below if you're doing an initial Windows
0:56 installation on a new computer blank drives should each show up as their own
1:01 individual entries in the where do you want to install Windows list format your
1:06 drives by clicking new and using the default settings for each drive then
1:10 select your SSD as the Windows installation location by clicking it so
1:14 that it is highlighted then clicking next if you're not sure which is which
1:18 you should easily be able to identify your SSD by its capacity if you've
1:23 already got your computer up and running and you're installing a fresh hard drive
1:26 it may not show up automatically in file explor if this is the case do not worry
1:31 just right click on the start button and select Disk Management from there you'll
1:35 be able to see your new drive as unallocated space simply rightclick and
1:39 choose new simple volume use the default settings pick whatever Drive letter and
1:44 label you would like so you can identify it easily then click finish and your new
1:48 Drive should be ready to go in a few seconds now we're going to configure
1:52 Windows to send data automatically to your hard drive so that your SSD won't
1:56 fill up with stuff that you don't want on it when you open a file Explorer
2:00 window those options on the left side for documents downloads music pictures
2:04 and videos M to specific locations on
2:08 your computer so what you'll want to do is create new folders for your data on
2:12 your new drive then rightclick on the appropriate shortcut in File Explorer
2:16 for the folder that you just created for one of those previously mentioned
2:20 directories then just enter the directory you created on your new Drive
2:24 where you want your files to go this will change the default save directory
2:28 in various programs to the the new folders on your data drive but what
2:32 about games if you're using steam as many people are these days many games
2:36 will store their save files in a subfolder in your documents directory in
2:41 which case you won't have to do anything else outside of the previously mentioned
2:45 steps but some use random save locations
2:48 if you just want to ensure everything gets saved to your data drive to keep
2:52 everything game related separated from your operating system it's not a bad
2:56 idea to just install Steam itself and your games to your data Drive even
3:01 though most games these days use cloud saves anyways you could also install
3:06 individual games to more specific locations by going to steam clicking on
3:10 downloads then steam Library folders
3:13 from there you can create a folder on whatever Drive you'd like and then you
3:17 can choose to install any future games you would download to that location of
3:22 course if you want to keep certain games on your SSD for fast load times you can
3:25 still do this by simply selecting a folder on your SSD during installation
3:30 and vice versa follow these steps and you'll be able to enjoy a more robust
3:34 system for managing your files and programs to keep things both safe and
3:38 efficient by leveraging both of your drives Toro is giving away two gram
3:43 Spectrum mechanical RGB keyboards and they will be given away through the
