0:14 truthfully I don't much like doing SSD unboxings anymore they're pretty much
0:18 the same as far as the thing that's inside the box and what it looks like
0:21 but I've had at least a few people asking me about SanDisk ssds for quite
0:26 some time and I was mildly curious about
0:30 whether a non sandforce based SSD would work in the Blackmagic cinema camera
0:34 that we're planning to purchase in spite of there not being any non- sandforce
0:39 based ssds on the validated list so first let's start with SanDisk ssds in
0:44 general they're not exactly um you know an Enthusiast type brand from a from a
0:49 Gamers a typical Gamers perspective you might look at SanDisk and go okay well
0:53 that's stuff that like you know camera people use whereas you know I'm going
0:57 for like ocz or whatever else but for professional users speaking of what
1:02 camera people might use they are definitely an Enthusiast grade brand so
1:07 their SD cards and compact flash cards traditionally have been among the
1:11 fastest in fact they have the fastest SD card available in terms of sustained
1:16 right speeds at the moment with black magic specifically recommending their
1:20 extreme Pro Series for raw recording on the Blackmagic pocket camera so there
1:27 you go they own Fabs which gives them the luxury of being being able to
1:30 handpick the absolute best flash for themselves this equates to both an
1:34 endurance and a performance advantage and aside from using their own flash on
1:39 here which is an advantage they're using a Marva very fast Marvel controller and
1:44 their own custom firmware to achieve performance that is at or near the top
1:48 of pretty much every performance Benchmark you can possibly find inside
1:53 the box I guess I should have mention that there's an ESD bag there's the SSD
1:56 itself it's a 7 mm SSD and it comes with a spacer so you can space it out to 9 mm
2:01 if your particular notebook supports that form factor as opposed to the
2:05 Slimmer one and I guess that's all there
2:08 is to really say about it of course you'll pay a premium for this and any
2:13 Extreme Performance I mean it says extreme like right on the box this and
2:17 any Extreme Performance SSD but whether or not it's worth the extra cost to you
2:22 these days particularly if you're coming from a hard drive which is so much
2:26 slower than even the slowest SSD is
2:29 probably open for debate if you are a professional user and you do need very
2:33 good longevity it comes with a 5year warranty and you need extreme Supreme
2:38 performance and all that stuff then I guess it's not really that debatable
2:42 you're probably going to want to go for something like this at any rate it's available in 120 gig 240 gig and 40 gig
2:47 configurations as usual this is something I should probably mention just
2:50 because nobody seems to know this you can find the pricing of pretty much
2:56 anything I unbox by checking out the pricing and availability Link in the
2:59 video description and I think that's pretty much it guys like the video if you liked it dislike
3:03 it if you disliked it leave a comment and let me know your thoughts on the
3:06 video if they're more complicated than this or this and as always don't forget
