0:07 now as you guys already know if you're following me me me on Twitter at Linus I
0:12 am resurrecting the personal build project I have found the perfect
0:15 motherboard the GX 79s up5 zero coil
0:18 wine great look it'll match everything else that I got going on here really
0:22 well so my next step is to start making some cuts into the case for cable
0:27 management the reason I didn't want to move ahead with any cable management
0:30 holes before I had finalized a motherboard is because where would I cut
0:34 the holes if I don't know where the cables are going to be running and what kind of a board I'm going to be using so
0:38 I'm going to be cutting some cable management holes I'm going to be painting some things myself so things
0:42 like the outside of the optical drive I'm just going to be priming and
0:46 spraying with a textured black whereas the bulk of the case components I'm
0:51 going to be sending away to Mountain mods to be painted in Black once I have
0:55 made my necessary Cuts so it never hurts to give a metal surface a quick scuff
1:00 just to make sure that the uh primer will adhere so I'm not going for a
1:05 perfect finish on thiss so I won't be over complicating
1:10 things in terms of uh of the preparation process there we go make sure that's
1:15 working you always want to apply spray really really lightly like underdo it as
1:21 opposed to overdoing it this can be Rec in as little as about half an hour so
1:27 I'm not not too concerned about getting perfect coverage no one will ever see
1:30 the top of the optical drive but I'm peeling the sticker off just for the sake of uh semi completeness here and
1:36 when you're done uh actually make sure you're always in a well ventilated area
1:40 when you're done with an aerosol always make sure you clean out the nozzle
1:43 before you're uh before you finish well those lines seem pretty straight trusty
1:48 Dremel never fails so got to do the CPU cutout I decided not to do any cutouts
1:54 for um you know ATX 24 pin or whatever
1:57 else I'm just going to bring them around like I used to and then I do want to do
2:00 a cutout here for routing various stuff
2:03 uh under the bottom of the motherboard same thing here and uh to the back of
2:08 the uh to the back of the back plate I'm also going to do a CPU cutout just so
2:13 that I can easily change CPU blocks and
2:17 yeah so here's a couple cuts having been
2:20 made with the Dremel for the CPU cutout
2:23 going to do two more of those and then I think the last cut is going to be down
2:28 here for the cable management and and we're making some progress here and more
2:33 progress so I have done the CPU cutout
2:37 that's some freehand dremeling right there actually pretty straight All
2:41 Things Considered should I have marked it yes but I didn't so there you go so
2:48 now there's see there's a door for the uh for the CPU cutout so uh that'll give
2:53 me the ability to close it off when I'm when I don't want act no I'm just
2:57 kidding I'm going to just take that off off there all right so there you go now
3:02 I will be able to easily install CPU coolers or remove them without any
3:07 difficulty um I'm also really not sure
3:10 what to do about this that looks kind of goofy with that uh little Gap there so I
3:15 might just take this all the way to the edge but I might just leave it I mean it's in the right position and sort of
3:20 the right size for the eight pin now all that's left is I want to do some Cuts
3:23 sort of along the bottom here so that I can uh run things like front panel
3:28 connectors and stuff like that behind the motherboard without without any
3:33 difficulty so more progress it's all
3:36 good all right so let's call that pretty much it for this personal rig update so
3:40 I've thrown the hardware back into the case just so that I can do a little bit of test fitting so uh number one is the
3:47 hole for the eight pin connector is good and I'll be able to run sort of fan
3:52 wires through there and stuff and anywhere where I don't want to run fan
3:55 wires through here if I want it to be even more hidden there's also a hole
3:58 drilled here I should widen that a little bit before I'm done actually I
4:01 can take these ones and those ones cathode lights um can have their wires
4:06 run through there so this yeah actually know what this might just be for uh for
4:11 the eight pin um so what else have we
4:15 got that's new other than that you're not going to be able to see many changes
4:18 from this side so you can see now I can run the um the SATA cables from my RAID
4:25 card to the back of the motherboard tray where all of the drives will go just
4:29 find my my one of my things are drives so the drives will go back here and then
4:34 the uh SATA data cables will come through here from the back so I've cut
4:40 two more cable management holes this one's for like front USB or um front
4:45 panel connectors all that kind of stuff I was thinking about cutting one here
4:50 for SATA cables if I ever decide to plug the drives directly into the motherboard
4:53 but I decided not to so there's the you can see the motherboard cutout is lined
4:58 up correctly so I've got access to all four holes back here there's that
5:02 eight pin I decided against cutting holes over here for 24 pin and PCIe um
5:08 there's just I don't think there's any perfect way to do this so unfortunately
5:12 I am stuck with mounting the t- virus kind of here we'll just be kind of
5:17 hovering off the motherboard tray there and uh this is going to just go around
5:21 it and this is just going to go around it yes I know it's not ideal but I don't
5:25 really see um a better way to do
5:29 everything at this point with how much Hardware I'm cramming in here I mean
5:32 remember this is going to be full of a radiator um I thought about doing a mid
5:36 plate here but just time and effort
5:39 constraints I'm not going to end up doing it so I'm just going to get the
5:42 whole thing powder coated once I've made all the cuts oh right more cuts that I
5:46 need to do so I need a way to get all these cables up past here past here cuz
5:53 the side panel closes right against this so I'm going to cut big holes here to
5:58 here so that I can move all my my cables up this way I'm going to widen this one
6:02 right here and that's going to give me two really good options actually you
6:06 know what I'll probably do I'll probably do something here as well three good
6:10 options to get cables from the back of the system down to the bottom of the
6:15 system without running them through the existing cable routing holes here so
6:19 that should pretty much fix my only complaint about the tj07 well no my two
6:24 only complaints cable Management's terrible and the uh the inter interior
6:27 should be black so once we get the cut and powder coated we should be good to
6:31 go thanks for checking out my personal rig update and stay tuned for more I'm
6:35 hoping to actually get this done within the calendar year I know I call it
6:38 personal rig update 2012 so so we're on the clock here if it runs into 2013 my
6:43 title will no longer be correct
