0:00 I'm finally doing it you believe it or not I actually had the ax1000 the 850
0:05 and the 750 all at the same time but it's taken me until now to unbox the AF
0:10 ax ax750 sorry about that all right so
0:14 this is the ax750 this is an 80 plus
0:17 gold Professional Series power supply from Corsair it is a high performance
0:22 power supply it's also a very silent very efficient power supply so I'm not
0:26 going to waste too much time looking at the Box and whatnot cameraman seems to
0:31 be doing that for me anyway and we're just going to open this guy right up
0:36 because he is pretty similar to the ax850 and the ax1000 in many regards the
0:42 key difference is well 100 or 250
0:47 depending on which one you're comparing it against so how many watts of power it
0:52 can output that is the key difference
1:01 there we go finally all right so first thing yes 80 plus gold as I mentioned
1:05 before it's also got a seven yes 7year
1:10 warranty from Corsair which is just outstanding on a power supply I mean
1:15 think about that in the year 2017 this power supply will still be
1:20 covered by warranty that's like having a power supply you bought back in 2003
1:26 that still has warranty today that's just amazing so so here is the power
1:31 supply itself and I still got a couple more stickers to break here and we'll
1:36 show you what it has attached to it in
1:39 terms of cables there it is Corsair really does a
1:44 terrific job of packaging so you've got your nice closed cell foam that stuff is
1:48 durable no matter what you do to it like I couldn't I couldn't damage this power
1:52 supply no matter how hard I heave on it it uses awesome packing material to make
1:57 sure it's going to arrive at your house safe and sound even if you're getting it
2:00 shipped and I said ax1000 I'm so sorry I meant ax1
2:05 1200 that is a 1200 wat power supply so the difference is actually
2:10 450 not uh not not 250 okay so here we
2:15 go we have a power cable next we have some zip ties as well as a powered by
2:20 Corsair sticker we have four black thumb screws little nice touches that's what
2:25 Corsair is all about little nice touches black black it's going to match your
2:29 case is going to match your power supply because if you bought them from Corsair
2:32 they're probably black all right we've got our modular cables here so why don't
2:36 we go through those really quick first actually and then we'll do the power
2:39 supply itself so the first ones we find are here the next ones we find are here
2:44 and then there's some more so this is a fully modular power supply which means
2:49 we've got this cable is for the 750 ax
2:52 and the 850 ax only that is your 2 24 pin power cable you will pretty much
2:56 need to attach that no matter what kind of a system You're Building pretty much
3:00 all right this I'm going to tuck away for just a moment okay here we have a 4
3:05 plus 4 pin so that means we can either plug in single four or we can plug in
3:10 both for8 pin power so that one you're pretty much going to need to attach as
3:14 well next we have a another 4 plus4 pin
3:18 okay so you can actually plug this into certain EVGA boards as well as some
3:22 other some ASUS motherboards we'll actually use dual eight pin connectors
3:26 so we have full support for that next in terms of PCI Express we have have two
3:30 modular PCI Express cables and you can see these are optimized for high-end
3:35 graphics cards which means you got two cables coming off of each individual
3:38 plug on the power supply that means that if you're running high in graphics cards
3:42 you're pretty much running two PCI E cables to each graphics card so it saves
3:46 you some wiring okay so you've got support for up to two high-end graphics
3:50 cards off of this power supply next in terms of
3:54 SATA we have one two so there's just oh
3:58 okay we've got a few different options here so we've got two dual SATA and then
4:02 we have two quad SATA cables so you can
4:05 decide you know hey you know you want to run a dual one up to your Optical drives
4:09 you want to run a quad one down to your hard drives where you're running a RAID
4:12 10 cool you got lots of options that's the whole point of modular power
4:16 supplies which a lot of people seem to have or a lot of companies seem to have
4:21 forgotten in their design process somewhere that's what Corsair does for
4:25 you they give you options all right then
4:28 we have two quad m X and then we've also got two Molex to Floppy adapters so that
4:33 is your entire cable complement for the
4:37 ax750 next let's pull the C the camera
4:40 pull the uh power supply out of its nice little bag which you could keep your gym
4:44 striping if you wanted to if you were in high school and you still had gym strip
4:48 all right we have a 120 mm fan on the
4:51 bottom of the power supply it looks like it's just built like that's probably a
4:55 panow or a Pabst or Delta or something I actually don't know who makes that fan
5:00 but it's a very very industrial looking fan you can really tell with some of
5:04 them that they're built a little better than others on the side we've got The
5:07 coair ax750 Branding here then we move
5:10 around to the back we got another ax750 looks like it's intended to be installed
5:14 this way up rather than the other way although it doesn't actually matter we
5:17 have a power switch as well as our power input then a honeycomb Grill at the back
5:20 which is pretty much industry standard then we have another Corsair branded
5:25 side here I don't know which side I showed you before but they're both the same but here's a clever Touch look at
5:29 this so if I install it this way in my case it's going to be right side up as a
5:32 bottom mounted power supply and if I install it this way in my case at the
5:36 top of the case if I have a top mounted power supply it's also going to be right
5:39 side up how neat is that oh I didn't even mention this yet this is a single
5:43 12vt rail power supply so you can provide up to 62 amps off that single
5:48 12vt rail so you don't have to worry about when you're you know plugging one
5:53 cable in here and one cable in there well how much stuff do I have running on
5:56 each rail how much stuff do I not have running on other rails don't worry about
6:00 that at all because it's all coming off the same 12vt rail this power supply is
6:05 also capable of providing nearly its entire 750 watts that is 744 Watts off
6:12 of that single 12vt rail outstanding last but not least here is the modular
6:16 interface at the back of the power supply so you can plug in let's just do
6:20 a quick uh rundown here so you can plug in your 24 pin and that's going to go
6:25 here and here you can plug in your uh let me see where's the where are those 4
6:29 plus four so where do those go the 4 plus 4S go
6:33 here and then where else do they go I don't know actually do they go
6:39 here huh can you only plug in one of those that can't be right I'll be back
6:44 in a moment okay I get it yeah they actually
6:48 have both have slightly different connectors on them so one of them plugs
6:51 into this guy so this is a dedicated four pin connector and then the other
6:55 one oops well you got to plug it in the right way the other one you have to make
6:58 a choice so you can either plug in a 4 plus4 all right and you can use up one
7:02 of these two slots here or you can plug in one of your dual PCI E connectors so
7:07 what Corsair is basically saying is they don't want you powering like a crazy
7:11 board that has dual 8 Pin connectors like you know a dual socket board off
7:16 this motherboard in addition to two high-end graphics cards that's the the
7:21 limitation that they're putting on you here which I think is um more than fair
7:25 for the 750 W unit cuz you should probably be springing for like a 1200
7:30 watt unit if you're doing something like that now in terms of other cables you
7:33 can plug in up to five other things so that means you can either go with the
7:37 two quad Molex and three satas or you can go with four or rather you can go
7:42 with uh yeah four satas and then one quad Molex or whatever it is that you
7:47 need so thank you for checking out my unboxing of the Corsair
7:51 ax750 that is an 80 plus gold highly
7:54 efficient highly silent power supply and don't forget to subscribe to Linus Tech
