0:00 if you're like me your home desktop PC is your domain it's powerful it's got
0:05 all your files your shortcuts are laid out perfectly and you always feel
0:09 comfortable but then you have to take a trip out of town space is at a premium
0:13 and you're forced to make a call do you bring your desktop or your 2-year-old
0:17 well as cute as your desktop may be if you have a toddler the odds are
0:21 excellent that the person who carried it around for 9 months to make it will have
0:24 some say in the matter so out comes the laptop you haven't touched in the last 6
0:28 months if you want to be connected in any way to the world however unoptimized
0:33 that experience might be but is there a way that you could take that desktop
0:38 experience with you well yes actually great question viewer by the way there
0:43 is and it's pretty darn awesome in this magical world of technology we have a
0:48 plethora of applications that allow you to control a computer remotely via
0:53 another computer or even a mobile device whether you're on site or off but what
0:59 is the best application to use well if you're using Windows there's actually a
1:03 built-in option for remote desktop called remote desktop connection though
1:07 it's only available with professional grade editions or higher and the
1:10 security isn't the greatest thing ever the main benefits of the integrated
1:14 solution are that it allows for a high level of control you can manage all your
1:18 applications and transfer files between PCS with ease and doesn't require any
1:23 additional software to set up some downsides however are that you can only
1:28 connect from a Windows machine to a Windows machine using this software none
1:32 of that freaky decky Mac Windows crossplatform nonsense going on and
1:38 while if you're connected within your local network it's pretty easy it's just
1:42 a matter of enabling it on the host computer configuring your settings so only computers that you control can
1:46 access it remotely and then typing in the name of the computer when you want a remote control and hit enter it becomes
1:51 a little more difficult when remoting in from the outside of your network as
1:55 you'll have to manually open up some ports on your router full details on how
1:58 to do that can be found at the life hacker Link in the video description but
2:02 of course there are also plenty of third-party solutions that fit the bill
2:05 as well if you're looking for an extremely simple option then a program
2:09 like team viewer has you covered it takes minutes to set up an account and
2:12 you can even use it without an account if you prefer you just need the
2:15 connection ID and password from the computer that you're trying to access
2:19 you can use team viewer at no charge for personal use the definition of which you
2:24 can find on their website and you can get full access to all your programs
2:27 share files kind of slowly but it works between your PCS and switch between
2:32 monitors if you have a multi-monitor setup all within a very simple interface
2:36 and they even have a mobile app so you can access your home PC no matter where
2:40 you are team viewer hosting works on Windows Mac and Linux and you can get
2:43 clients in those and Android iOS and
2:46 even Windows phone so much crossplatform love man there are other crossplatform
2:52 options too like log me in although log me in now charges a subscription fee
2:57 even for personal use which pretty much takes it out of the running for very
3:00 casual users and then there are a ton of awesome solutions for Linux like putty
3:05 but they all accomplish pretty much the same goal accessing your home computer
3:09 or your work computer from any other computer allowing you to feel
3:13 comfortable when surfing the web creating presentation or doing whatever it is you want to do on a computer with
3:18 only very short delays because yes
3:21 there's always a gotcha isn't there the quality of your streaming experience
3:25 over the internet will be heavily dependent on your upload speed at your
3:29 space station and download speed wherever your travels take you with a
3:34 great connection I've been able to edit videos on a remote workstation even play
3:38 them back but with a poor one you can see delays as long as a second or more
3:42 making it quite difficult to enjoy
3:45 speaking of things that are easier to enjoy when they don't have much delay
3:50 ddr4 memory and more specifically xpg Z1
3:53 ddr4 from a data the sponsor of today's video this is the memory that we use in
3:58 our DDR3 versus ddr4 Apples to Apples
4:02 comparison video on my other channel and the whole lineup is pretty darn spiffy
4:06 if you're looking for memory for your new LGA 20113 system with a six core or
4:10 8 core processor it's available in speeds of up to 2,800 MHz with transfer
4:14 speeds of up to 22 gab per second and
4:18 does that while being more reliable and while consuming 20% less power than
4:22 comparable DDR3 kits so if you're looking for some ball and RAM to go with
4:26 your Ballin new CPU check out ad datas xpg Z1 series thanks to ad data for
4:31 sponsoring this episode of fast as possible and thanks to you for watching
4:35 like the video if you liked it dislike it if you disliked it leave a comment letting me know if you have suggestions
