0:00 USB drives I mean now that I can get 4 gig ones enough to install an OS for
0:05 free with press kits about new products or whatever on them they've got to do
0:09 something pretty special in order to grab my attention especially if they
0:13 come from a company that doesn't normally even make USB drives like
0:17 Vision
0:25 Tech Corsair gaming RGB keyboards feature Precision Cherry MX RG GB key
0:30 switches for 16.8 million color per key
0:33 backlighting for virtually unlimited customization click now to learn more so
0:38 this isn't Vision Tech's first portable SSD they actually had a product that let
0:42 you plug an MSA SSD into a little enclosure then connect that to your PC
0:46 via USB 3 although it's certainly their
0:50 much more elegant one so much like the
0:53 9696 the 9718 they really got to work on their
0:58 product names promises much better performance than a normal high-capacity
1:02 USB drive by using an LSI San Force 2281
1:07 SSD controller yeah the same kind that a
1:10 desktop SSD would use rather than a normal thumb drive controller to
1:14 interact with the flash chips on the drive but this time instead of some
1:19 cluggy dongle and fragile MCA Drive you're getting a solid aluminum housing
1:25 one that is evidently assembled in the USA if that kind of thing is important
1:28 to you that is both heavy and and rugged feeling enough for me to be fairly
1:32 confident that I could kill a man with it sorry I didn't tell him I was going
1:37 to do that if the need arose it also has a metal keychain loop on one end a nice
1:42 upgrade from the last SSD controller based USB drive I checked out and a
1:46 standard rubber USB port cover a significant downgrade from other designs
1:52 that I've seen that is sure to get lost quite quickly and then the last nice
1:56 thing I have to say about it physically completing the sandwich is is that
2:00 compared to that other drive it's much skinnier making inserting it into
2:04 closely spaced ports much easier a bit
2:08 more on specs before we jump into benchmarks though it's backwards compatible with USB 2 but obviously
2:12 works best on a USB 3 port with support for uasp a data transfer protocol that's
2:18 better optimized for random reads and wrs and vision Tech claims that you can
2:23 achieve up to 445 megabytes per second read and 440
2:28 megabytes per second right well above what we were able to do with our flash
2:32 Voyager GTX from Corsair the only other similar SSD in your pocket based product
2:38 that we've seen so here we are we've got a pretty simple Benchmark Suite today
2:43 black Magic's disc speed test gives us a really clear idea of how this drive will
2:48 perform in what is in my daily life anyway a typical workload by reading and
2:54 writing compressible data to and from the drive it should be noted that it's
2:58 important that the data is compressed ible for a sand for space drive like
3:01 this because it will not perform nearly as well with incompressible data
3:06 especially given how few flash chips there are on the drive
3:11 itself so while it appears that I wasn't able to replicate the numbers from the
3:15 box this is still one wicked fast USB
3:19 drive about the same speed as our Angel bird SSD to go pocket that is
3:25 considerably bulkier and more expensive but then also available in higher
3:30 capacities we've got a 120 gig version of The Vision Tech here but there's also
3:34 a 240 gig and that is pretty much it now
3:38 it should be noted guys when looking at these results that you will need to be
3:42 cognizant of what usb3 controller you're
3:45 using on your computer because if you have an older one you might not see
3:49 numbers this high with anything the Voyager GTX the vision Tech usb3 120 gig
3:54 solid state drive man they got to work on their product names or the angel bird
3:58 so thank you guys for watching like this video if you liked it dislike it if you
4:02 disliked it leave a comment if your feelings are more complicated than this
