0:07 welcome to my unboxing and first look at the MSI Radeon 7850 power Edition
0:12 remember power edition cards feature enhanced thermal performance with twin
0:17 frozer coolers this one has the twin frozer 4 and triple over voltage
0:21 enhanced pwm design so what is an enhanced pwm design mean basically
0:26 better voltage regulation for the memory as well as the GPU core
0:31 and full support for triple over voltage
0:35 so triple over voltage basically amounts to being able to overvolt the GPU the
0:41 PLL and the memory through MSI
0:45 afterburner software so we've got a mini DisplayPort to fullsize DisplayPort
0:48 adapter included DVI to VGA adapter included some useless discs and manuals
0:53 and if you really need to know how to install a graphics card at this point
0:57 then I have a video about that so don't worry too much about the paper manual
1:01 that comes with your graphics card you got a dual Molex to six pin PCIe
1:04 connector because this is a 7850 so you only need one of them it's a very small
1:09 very compact card and so you can quite
1:12 plainly tell that MSI has done up their
1:16 own yeah come
1:20 on yeah see the PCI bracket punctured
1:24 the bag so I couldn't get it out um so MSI has done completely their own custom
1:29 PCB in order to build a be for your pwm as well as just generally a better board
1:33 for more overclocking goodness so this
1:37 is more of a value oriented card this is like value gaming not uh not like value
1:42 cards so you're still going to get dramatically better performance than
1:46 you'd get with any kind of an onboard or like you know ghetto lowend card
1:49 solution but you're not going to pay a boatload for it and the great thing
1:53 about their power edition cards is that while they do cost a little bit more than reference cards it's not that much
1:58 considering the extra benefit so you got the twin frozer 4 cooler which basically
2:02 means on this particular version this is a small I mean this is a low power chip
2:05 and everything you've got three heat pipes that are Fanning out to uh sort of
2:10 a radiator style here get you guys a better angle radiator style aluminum
2:15 fins that cover the entire length and width of the PCB very very nice very
2:21 good cooling you've also got check this out so this piece right here is actually
2:26 fully attached to here I'm going to try and get you guys like an angle can you
2:29 see in there can you see the full um unisync that's covering the entire card
2:33 so that gives this card a lot of rigidity like check this out there's no
2:37 flex to it it gives it okay well okay
2:40 there is if I grab the cooler but if you actually take the PCV compared to a
2:44 regular card it's very rigid is very strong so you have the cooling benefit
2:48 of having a heat sink over the all the RAM chips and pwm and then you've also
2:52 got the benefit of once you install it in the card it's not going to Sag like a
2:55 lot of cards to because they have that Flex so I really like that about this
2:59 particular particular design that we've seen on some of MSI's recent cards the
3:02 twin frozer 4 has a lot of different things going for it so it's got heat
3:06 pipes it's got dual fans it's got uh propeller blades which basically amount
3:10 to more air flow and they will spin in Reverse at the beginning this is the
3:14 feature of the twin frozer 4 in order to remove dust from the fins before turning
3:18 around and spinning the other way to actually cool the card so you'll notice
3:22 when you first boot it up it's quite loud but that's normal it's trying to
3:26 blow all the dust out of it before it actually starts cooling the card this
3:29 mean that you won't have to clean this card out as often as you would with a normal one I also love the look of their
3:34 twin frozer cards so they've got like you know MSI sort of silver black thing
3:40 going on usually a little color accent thing like that looks really really
3:43 sharp um yeah in terms of overall features of the board so it's a little
3:46 slower than a 7870 but given the difference in price it's definitely
3:51 justifiable it also only uses a single PCIe six pin PCI power connector so
3:58 that's a six pin right there not even and8 pin it has full support for
4:02 Infinity so supports up to four displays you got two mini display ports on this
4:05 card HDMI and DVI out so actually I
4:10 think it in theory supports more than that if you daisy chain uh additional
4:15 displays but let's go ahead and say four at least for now in fact let's have a
4:20 look at what MSI has to say about the card so you got amdi Infinity hd3d which
4:25 we've tried in the uh we've got 4K
4:28 support which is actually really cool so you can drive a 4K display off this card
4:32 that's new with the 7,000 generation of cards deep color and 3 GHz K be media
4:38 play power play power tune ah yes 28 nanometer process technology this is an
4:41 extremely power efficient card and performance and overclocking are
4:45 outstanding given that the price that you're looking at is also fully PCI
4:49 Express 3.0 compliant which for a card
4:52 like this is not going to amount to any kind of a performance Delta but I mean
4:57 there you have it if you have a PCI E3 board and you really want a PC at E3
5:01 card you can put this in it you've also
5:04 got full support for AMD Crossfire two-way only not three-way so bear that
5:09 in mind there's only one crossfire set of Crossfire fingers up at the top and I
5:12 think that pretty much covers it thank you for checking out my unboxing and first look at the 7850 power Edition
