0:08 today I have a product that might not be that interesting for the home users but
0:12 if you work in a small business or if you own your own small business this
0:15 should be pretty relevant so this is the rv110w from Cisco for small business it
0:20 offers simple secure connectivity for small office and home office that
0:23 enables faster file transfer using high-speed Wireless technology
0:27 802.11n so all that basically means so far as it's a router and it's 802.11n
0:32 it's a wireless end router for small business okay let's keep going you can
0:36 access files on your business Network securely while you're away from the office so by using ipack tunnels using
0:41 Cisco quick VPN or the quick VPN client
0:45 you can actually support up to five remote workers using this particular
0:49 router so that's kind of cool you can also allow guests to access the internet
0:53 securely now I've seen the setups on some of Cisco routers including the
0:58 valet where they show you how to set up your guest wireless network it's very
1:01 intuitive and this one unlike some business class routers actually uses an
1:06 intuitive easy interface so that's another thing that's kind of cool here
1:09 we go let's see what they have to say for themselves on the side that's the package contents we'll get to that when
1:14 we open the package and here is a little map of where this fits into your network
1:18 so this is a wireless n VPN firewall so
1:22 basically what they're trying to say is that through the internet through the
1:26 VPN tunnel you can have remote workers that are securely able to to access your
1:31 work by bypassing the firewall that is built into the router that keeps out
1:35 your malicious software attack so that's what this particular diagram means from
1:40 here it can go out to your IP phone your network storage your video cameras your
1:43 wireless printers Wireless laptops whatever else the case may be it uses
1:47 fast Ethernet ports so you've got a four port Hub that's built in Wireless end
1:51 for wireless and let's see what else they've got on the back here so secure
1:55 remote access using ipvpn technology okay we talked about that already and it
1:59 is ip6 enabl to help feature proof your network easy to install and use this
2:03 we've all talked about so far as well terms of specifications I actually have
2:06 a better sheet than this one so we can get into that a little bit after let's
2:10 get it opened up and find out what you get with the rv110w first you get a
2:14 readme first disc next you get a quick start guide in
2:19 color showing you where to plug things in all right next you get the wireless
2:26 firewall unit itself so take that guy
2:30 out we got two antennas on there so I'll show you I'll show you this in detail a
2:33 little bit after we get a power adapter
2:37 pretty typical standard Fair all right and finally we get a single Ethernet
2:42 cable so if you already have a modem then this will be that additional one
2:46 that you'll need in order to connect the firewall to the modem so let's have a
2:51 look at the unit itself okay we've got a Cisco logo on the front you want to come
2:55 in a little bit closer at all or yeah okay we got a Cisco logo on the front
2:59 power power LED we've got a WPS setup button so that's really handy to have if
3:03 you have other WPS supporting devices internet uh LED we've got a wireless LED
3:10 uh Lan LEDs for the four different ports
3:13 okay on the side we've got some ventilation holes as well as a Kensington lock remember these are small
3:17 business SKS so these are not uh necessarily cheap this guy is in the mid
3:22 100 some odd range so yes it's an expensive wireless router but it does
3:26 have technology built in that is not
3:30 for consumers it's for businesses we've got a reset switch we've got the 4100
3:35 fast Ethernet ports the one100 W Port so
3:38 this guy is capable of delivering up to 80 megabit per second between the W and
3:43 the Lan ports so that's the hardware that we have inside we've also got a
3:46 power button as well as our power input and the two built-in antennas so those
3:51 are built in on the other side we find more ventilation holes on the bottom
3:55 we've got the little wall mount clips as well as some rubber feet so it doesn't
3:58 move around and finally on the top we find a Cisco logo so this guy compared
4:03 to something like its bigger brother the rv220w which I'll get to after supports
4:09 a very basic number of Ip set connections so only five remote workers
4:13 it has less thorough put between the W
4:16 and the Lan ports so this guy right here has a gigabit W port and is capable of
4:21 delivering up to 800 megabit per second
4:24 whereas this guy is only 80 megabit per second okay and then finally you don't
4:29 have have support for sslvpn thorough put so and there's also no cloud-based
4:34 web protection what you also do get that you don't get with a consumer based
4:38 solution though if you're just using consumer routers in your business right
4:41 now is you get uh one year of phone tech
4:44 support with Cisco and a three-year warranty on it very few consumer routers
4:47 are going to come with that much warranty and that much support so thank
4:51 you for checking out my unboxing and overview of the RV 110w don't forget to
4:56 subscribe to lus techtips for more unboxings reviews and other computer
5:00 videos sorry guys one key feature I missed is that it allows you to create
5:04 separate virtual networks so up to four of them you can divide either your wired
5:08 or wireless networks into four zones so
5:12 that they can or cannot have access to each other so that's one way that you
5:16 can keep your files secure and then obviously I did mention the guest Wi-Fi
5:20 before that one would not have access to any of your business files and it would
5:24 just be a straight internet connection for you know someone visiting your
5:28 company who wants to sit and get some work done while they wait or whatever
5:31 else the case may be
