0:00 i have some great news for anyone out there who ran out and bought two of
0:04 NVIDIA's collector's edition titan xp star wars graphics cards for a total of
0:10 twenty four hundred dollars to run an
0:13 sli and that is
0:16 that the new titan v which will actually outperform that
0:21 configuration in many games for just 600
0:24 more doesn't
0:28 have any star wars branding on it whatsoever
0:32 so as long as you buy your card purely for star wars and not for performance
0:37 you should feel pretty good right now okay now technically
0:42 this box has already been opened because Anthony is already hard at work on our
0:48 full review of this card but i still wanted to go through the unboxing
0:53 experience with you guys because damn it i spent three thousand
0:57 dollars on this graphics card so i intend to milk it to the fullest extent
1:02 that i can and to that end
1:06 nope not working okay here we go so it comes with some documentation
1:11 including a quick start guide and a support guide that's actually unusual
1:14 for these uh well right this isn't a sample card i
1:19 was going to say the samples never come with these uh
1:22 okay that's not very interesting titan v
1:26 support guide okay yeah well that's not very interesting
1:31 either uh it also comes with one of these i'm not sure what it is yet
1:37 but it better be gold
1:41 just like the card because if i'm gonna spend
1:44 three thousand dollars on a graphics card everything should be
1:47 silver silver DisplayPort to dvi adapter
1:54 hey if i intended to do that it was a good shot all right
1:57 and then we've got it right here
2:01 the titan v graphics card so
2:04 what do they have to say for themselves oh right 5
2:11 120 cuda cores so compared to the titan
2:14 xp which is an incredibly powerful card in its own right that's got 3
2:21 3840 cuda core so we are expecting this to be 20 25 faster right out of the gate
2:27 then it has the same amount of memory 12 gigs
2:31 but it's using hbm2 memory so that is
2:34 much much faster which may or may not have a
2:38 ton of applicability in gaming but will definitely help with the titan v's
2:43 intended use case which is apparently like deep learning uh ai
2:49 and really the same kinds of workloads as NVIDIA's v100 as NVIDIA's v100 the
2:56 only card that they've got on the market already using this same volta
3:01 architecture now you guys might be looking at
3:04 a 3 000 graphics card here going well
3:08 that's an unreasonable amount of money and
3:11 i would be inclined to agree with you but compared to that tesla v100 it's
3:17 actually less than a third of the price with much of the same capability so it
3:22 is a little bit slower and as you can see here the nv link fingers that you
3:28 probably saw previously when we showed off the gp100 are actually covered and
3:33 to our knowledge they are disabled so it does not support nvlink
3:37 but other than that for someone working on you know an ai type workload on a
3:42 desktop this aims to be the ultimate experience
3:49 with all that said you guys want to see it game i'm sure so
3:53 so i'm going to save the detailed run-through of our entire test suite for
3:56 Anthony's review but i still want to have a quick look at how the titan v
4:00 compares to the titan xp so here's the
4:04 settings we're using in gta 5 uh 3840 by
4:07 2160 i will change that to full screen but
4:11 in terms of what settings we're using fxaa
4:15 very high or high sort of across the
4:18 board here tessellation high and then all the advanced stuff turned on
4:24 so i've already got my numbers for the titan xp
4:27 let's go ahead and shut this baby down and get a new graphics card installed
4:33 you know i gotta say i am not
4:36 a huge fan of the gold id
4:41 it really smacks of well apple's doing it
4:46 but not in a tasteful way like this is
4:50 by far NVIDIA's tackiest looking graphics card
4:54 in the last you know three four years anyway
4:58 it's really ugly
5:02 like look and i like i realize this is
5:09 maybe seemingly insignificant complaint
5:13 for something that's designed for professional use
5:16 um and is you know capable of gaming but it's really a professional card
5:21 but at this kind of price it should be
5:24 perfect there it is there's our titan v powered up for the
5:29 first time ever only 3 000 us dollars
5:35 i think it included free shipping though so ah here we go
5:38 the first image it's ever output
5:42 it's like when we think about how long we're actually going to use this card
5:46 because we bought it strictly for comparative testing like benchmarking
5:50 against other things like it's costing me you know a dollar per minute to run
5:55 it so i'm gonna
5:59 take it in i need a drink
6:05 no water left
6:08 it's out for solid water
6:13 come on
6:25 all right so i'm just dialing in my settings here because grand theft auto
6:29 is a giant piece of crap when it comes
6:32 to actually remembering what you want
6:37 apply and
6:41 benchmark benchmark tests
6:47 i haven't actually looked at any results that are online yet so this will be my
6:51 first experience titan xp with storm
6:55 versus titan v wow listen to that coil line
6:59 you hear that listen to it so there's a black screen
7:02 right now listen to it when i hear i'll get in close
7:07 wait for it
7:15 i'm trying really hard i'm trying hard
7:18 yeah we got it it's kind of crazy to think that we've
7:22 gotten to the point though where running grand theft auto at 4k
7:26 at very high settings is maybe
7:29 not demanding enough to see a huge
7:32 separation between graphics cards we might even be CPU limited a little bit
7:36 here even though i'm running a 5960x extreme
7:42 edition all right
7:46 so oh wow uh
7:49 okay so just so you guys know this is where you're looking
7:53 um uh
7:56 wow that is not better um
8:00 so
8:03 we can't draw any really concrete conclusions right now this is one game
8:08 at one resolution against one other card and one set of
8:13 in-game settings um but what we can say for certain is
8:18 that right now the titan v is not a
8:21 great value compared even to NVIDIA's titan xp which is not a great value
8:27 compared to the 1080 ti
8:30 with that said the word on the street is that NVIDIA is
8:34 planning an architecture that's sort of
8:37 based on some of the same principles as volta but that doesn't have some of the
8:42 deep learning like tensor core stuff built into it so that it can be a little
8:46 bit less expensive and hopefully we're gonna see that sometime in 2018
8:53 but for now titan v is not a card for gamers
8:58 as expected so thanks for watching this uh unboxing
9:03 and um lesson on
9:09 buyer's remorse is it a lesson did we learn anything
9:13 anyway if you disliked the video you can hit that button but if you liked it hit like get subscribed maybe consider
9:17 checking out where to buy the stuff we featured if you're like a deep learning
9:20 scientist at the link in the video description also down there is our merch
9:23 storage has cool shirts like this one and our community forum
