today we're going to be doing a quick unboxing of the Sony bloggy so the model
0:05
this is is the MHS pm5k I don't know what color it is yet
0:09
but the basic specs that you see right on the front are that it records in full
0:13
HD 1080 okay then we move around to the back and you can see all the different
0:17
things it has support for so you can upload an email directly from the bloggy
0:21
to Shutterfly Picassa YouTube as well as Facebook so you can easily share with
0:26
your friends and family you plug it into your PC using a built-in USB Port so
0:30
it's kind of like the uh the Flip minoh HD in that respect you don't actually
0:34
have to fuss around with any cables or anything like that you just plug right in and it also includes a 360 video lens
0:41
so that means that you can take video in 360° around the camera and there's no
0:45
way that I could go without testing that it works on Mac it works on PC it
0:50
supports SDHC which is great I'm glad Sony's finally supporting these standard
0:55
memory cards rather than only memory stick but it also does support memory
0:59
stick okay so the first thing we find in the Box you know what I'm going to go
1:02
ahead and put this on the cameraman's hood he's probably cringing while I do
1:05
that but the first thing we find is a driver dis then we have a quick little
1:11
instruction paper that shows you how to take out the USB port then we have for
1:16
us customers receive 15% off your next purchase of something uh limited
1:20
warranty card consumer oneyear warranty
1:23
terms then you've got um an important
1:27
notice well if it is important and then surely we'll have to have a look uh
1:33
don't disassemble your battery pack don't drop it in water all that kind of
1:37
important stuff thank you for drawing our attention to that mobile HD snap
1:40
camera instruction manual here is the manual and then for if your product is
1:45
not working properly do not return it to the store okay all right so let's see
1:49
what we find inside first of all this is probably the most exciting accessory in
1:53
the Box this is the 360° lens so this
1:57
allows I almost dropped it this this allows us to take video in
2:02
360° around the bloggy so yeah obviously
2:06
we will have to try that all right that goes there for now then we have a
2:11
composite video as well as audio output so we can output directly from the blogy
2:16
then we have a USB extension cable oh
2:21
okay in case there's oh I see what this is for so you can plug that into your
2:24
computer in case there's not enough space like if your ports are crowded and
2:27
then you can plug the bloggy into this end then we have oh they include a
2:31
memory stick wow they include a 4 gig memory stick Pro Duo that's nice I mean
2:37
I remember the last time I bought a camera it came with I think it was like
2:41
an 8 Meg uh SD card or something stupid
2:44
like that okay then we've got o we have a little like shammy case for it so you
2:49
can either use that to wipe off your screen or you can potentially store it
2:53
in it although it doesn't really look big enough for that yeah it's not big
2:57
enough for that okay I don't get the point of this but it's there and then we
3:00
have a wrist strap down there and last but not least we have a battery so let's
3:05
get the battery out let's put the battery in so I guess the first thing
3:08
we're going to learn today is how to put the battery into this thing uh rotate to
3:12
power on okay I powered it
3:16
on uh can't quite figure out the battery
3:19
yet but I'll get there don't worry
3:22
there's the USB as well as the audio and video out so that's where we find all of
3:28
our our inputs and out so you just slide this little switch right here to get the
3:32
USB port out you've also you've got a little tripod mount so just in case you
3:36
wanted to take a little video on your little tripod you could do that so this
3:40
is how you turn it on you just rotate this right here so the screen can come
3:44
out this way or it can come out the top or it can come out that way so if you
3:49
actually if you're mounting your 360° lens it actually goes on just like this
3:55
something like that yeah there we go so it just Clips on like that and then
3:59
that's how you can uh take video all the way around the bloggy so here's either a
4:04
speaker or a microphone one of the two and then this says lithium ah there's my
4:09
battery nice so the battery goes in here
4:13
just like that secured in by a little blue tab and then I'm going to throw my
4:17
memory stick in here as well since they were kind enough to include one for me
4:21
hopefully I'm putting that in the right way and why don't we try and turn this baby on so here let's take off our 360°
4:28
lens and then uh see what happens if we
4:31
turn it on so is it on is this thing on
4:36
cool okay so uh we can actually see right now we can take video of the
4:41
cameraman's uh new car which we're actually going to use the bloggy to do
4:45
like a a video tour of very shortly here
4:48
so we can either take pictures just by pressing that button oh there's a bit of
4:53
a shutter delay there see I press the button oh no I press the button there
4:58
and it takes a photo there so you can kind of live with that it's designed to
5:01
be a video device and then we are taking video at
5:04
720p uh 30 frames per second right now
5:07
so uh I'm not actually going to show you this video I'll do another one shortly
5:11
anyway that is my quick unboxing of the Sony bloggy um if you want to see any
5:16
quick menu things actually why don't we do that really quickly so here let's
5:20
have a look at our video options so we can go up to 1080p 30 frames per second
5:25
we can go all the way down to VGA 30 frames per second if we want to
5:30
although 720 720p 60 frames per second
5:33
that's going to be probably your sweet spot where you're going to get nice smooth video and uh good HD quality and
5:39
then for photos you can either go uh all the way down to VGA terrible terrible
5:44
quality photos or you can go all the way up to 5 megapixels you can turn face
5:48
detection on and off and that's pretty much it there's not a whole lot of options here oh here's all the options
5:53
flicker reduction LED backlight uh language settings can you read this
5:57
cameraman okay good uh initialize that
6:01
format copy Okay cool so that's pretty cool we're going to do a quick tour of
6:05
the cameraman's car and then thank you for checking out my unboxing of the Sony
6:09
bloggy
