0:00 last time on lineus Tech tips we took
0:03 128 GB of unbuffered ddr4 memory and put
0:07 it into a gaming motherboard this time we're going to cram as much RAM as
0:12 possible into a Gigabyte bricks with some help from our friends at
0:16 intelligent memory and on the subject of intelligent is it a good idea to run a
0:21 computer inside a mini fridge should I sacrifice the mini fridge in the garage
0:24 at our office to find out smash that like button if you want to see it happen
0:38 the Kingston KC 310 series ssds we're using in our high-speed storage server
0:42 feature firmware based power Bloss protection Rock Solid performance and
0:46 large capacities up to 960 gigs click
0:49 right here to learn more so this video is actually pretty
0:54 straightforward from a mechanical standpoint just like any Intel knck or
0:58 bricks Mini PC this bricks is an ultra compact PC kit
1:04 uh specifically it's the BX I3
1:07 h-51 0 it comes with a case motherboard
1:11 external power supply Wi-Fi module and a core I3 CPU it's got four USB 3.0 ports
1:17 HDMI and mini DisplayPort outputs an audio jack Ethernet power in and it's
1:23 super small and kind of cute so as usual
1:27 it's what's inside that counts and there's a Fair bit of neat stuff going
1:31 on in here number one this is on the
1:34 Leading Edge of Broadwell based PCS the core I3 510 U inside it is built on
1:39 Intel's latest 14 nmet process node making it pretty much a core M like in
1:45 the new Macbook that we reviewed here but with higher clock speeds and higher
1:50 power targets since it'll be plugged into the wall and it'll be actively
1:54 cooled but Intel made other improvements too performance on the CPU and GPU was
1:59 increased over Haswell and power consumption was dropped 30% but not all
2:04 of the improvements made it into the marketing decks and intelligent memory
2:08 clued Us in that on compatible Broadwell based systems it would actually be
2:14 possible to achieve higher than the official 16 gigs of rated memory
2:20 capacity support although this shouldn't come as too much of a surprise since
2:24 these are the same pranksters that sent us 128 gigs of DDR3 to test the benefits
2:30 of over 100 gigs of memory in edel's workstation nearly a year ago so here
2:36 they are the creatively named intelligent memory 16 gig ddr3l memory
2:41 modules rated at 1333 MHz speeds at 1.35
2:45 or 1.5 volts and packed up in a so dim
2:49 four factor for your Ultra compact PC or
2:52 laptop convenience installing them was as simple as any memory you pop open the
2:57 bricks slot in the two sticks the way you normally would although you'll need
3:00 a storage drive if you want to actually boot up the system as well since this is a barebones PC and fire it up everything
3:07 showed up sort of normally with CPU Z
3:10 not giving as detailed a report on the modules as normal but Windows detecting
3:16 and using everything just fine and even
3:19 passing a torture test sick hey 32 gigs
3:22 of RAM in the palm of your hand but all
3:26 is not completely Rosy while our MSI gt7
3:29 two gaming notebook which is actually right here I got this also features a broad
3:35 well-based CPU and also managed to
3:38 detect the modules in the BIOS and even in Windows it reported only 32 gigs of
3:43 our 48 gigs of RAM as usable so if you
3:47 want to avoid running into a similar situation where you can't actually
3:52 utilize all your shiny new memory make sure you consult the official supported
3:56 list from intelligent memory since notebook maker support for this uh
4:00 actually along with Intel's support for this is unoficial
4:05 speaking of support.com if you call those guys you
4:10 actually talk to a person instead of being put through an automated menu and
4:15 they've got a different approach to mobile billing as well it's a pay for
4:19 what you use model versus the buffet model where you have to kind of like
4:23 imagine a buffet where you had to walk in and list like an itemized list of all
4:28 the things you were going to eat and then then if you don't end up eating that stuff you have to pay for it anyway
4:32 well that kind of sucks no Ting is more like the traditional Buffet you use and
4:37 pay for only exactly what you eat except you don't even have to commit to like
4:42 you know yeah I just want a salad but like the buffet salad looks pretty good
4:45 you don't actually have to spend the $16 in fact the average Ting bill is only
4:50 $24 per month if you're stuck in a contract and switch to Ting they will
4:54 cover 25% of your cancellation fee up to $75 and if all that sounds pretty good
4:59 then if you head over to our link lining. comom you can save another $25
5:04 in service credit or towards a new device so if you want to know if Ting's
5:09 going to work for you because you know hey well let pay as you go but how much
5:13 do you have to pay head over to lin. ting.com and try out the savings
5:17 calculator enter your last few bills and enter your last little bit of usage and
5:21 find out if Ting will save you money thanks for watching guys if this
5:26 video sucked I think you know what to do but if it was awesome come on 32 gigs of
5:30 RAM in here get subscribed hit that like
5:33 button or even consider supporting us by using our affiliate code to shop at
5:37 Amazon buying a cool t-shirt like this one or even through a direct monthly
5:40 contribution through the community Forum now that you're done doing all that
5:44 stuff you're probably wondering what to watch next so click that little I in the
5:48 top right corner to check out uh oh this is a good one to check out our video
5:53 where we take the fury X and we put it head-to-head against the gtx980ti in a
5:58 little tiny PC and see what which one performs better small computerss they're
6:02 kind of a fetish of mine oh yeah don't forget to subscribe if you haven't
6:05 already
