0:00 so today I'm going to be doing a quick unboxing of the silen X extreme a pro
0:04 series heat pipe CPU Cooler so this is the I c92 H2 so I'm going to hold that a
0:11 little bit closer to the camera or better yet I could use this particular
0:15 little trick of mine where I have a little remote that will zoom in on it
0:19 aha no cameraman today but I don't need one so it is less than 18 DB according
0:24 to silent X it supports all Intel sockets including 775 and AMD socket o
0:30 wow 754 and am2 so that means you've got
0:34 support for 775 am2 am3 and you can see
0:38 that there's another little sticker on here that says Intel Core i7 compatible
0:42 if it would focus there it goes so Intel Core i7 compatible that means that it is
0:47 compatible with LGA 1366 as well this is
0:50 a 92mm version designed for smaller cases so why don't we uh have a look at
0:56 yeah let's have a look at the side of the box as well so I'm going to do this zooming thing again sorry everyone
1:00 all right so first of all this is a heat pipe direct touch heat sink and uh at
1:06 the time this was uh a big deal but it
1:09 uses 8 mm versus 6 mm on they saying
1:13 most competing products heat pipes that means that it can transfer more heat
1:16 faster next of all it uses the latest generation of silen x i extreme a pro
1:21 fans and lastly 38 tightly spaced
1:24 aluminum fins offer nearly a class leading 5,000 cm squ of surface area
1:30 let's go around to the back where it just has a little bit more about the basic specs as well as some come on
1:36 Focus you can do it no you can't do it okay as well as the compatibility info
1:40 which is horrendously outdated okay so why don't we open this thing up and find
1:45 out just what is inside so I'm going to
1:48 go ahead and point that kind of there and then oh man this is brutal not
1:52 having someone operating the camera what are you going to do okay let's get the
1:56 Box open so the first thing we find inside you can see they have packed
2:01 in uh an LGA 1366 bracket all right
2:05 there it is and then the next thing you'll find is they have got a little uh
2:10 instruction sheet here so that covers the Intel installation procedure all
2:16 right so they show you you put the top bracket down you put four screws through
2:20 and it uses a back plate I love mounting systems that have a back plate it's just
2:23 so much more secure than trying to use push pins um next we have LGA 775
2:30 then we have our four mounting screws and then we have what else do we got in
2:35 here um all right we have ooh this one's
2:38 in color too so this is the installation guide for 754 939 940 and am2 so this
2:46 will also apply to am3 so that's in color and everything check that out very
2:51 nice very nice indeed okay what's next I can figure out
2:57 how to pull that back up here is a piece of double-sided tape I don't know what
3:02 it's for yet maybe we'll figure it out maybe we
3:05 won't okay let's keep digging further in
3:09 see what else we can find here oh oh wow
3:12 okay so H here is the back plate
3:17 for gee well which mounting system is
3:20 this for cuz it doesn't look like it's compatible with both 775 and
3:26 1366 so oh okay I was mistaken the 775
3:31 version uses the plastic push pins whereas the 1366 version uses a bolt
3:37 through so this back plate is for the 1366 version okay I get it now oh and we
3:43 figured out what the uh what the double-sided tape is for it's for this
3:47 fan speed controller so the cable for the fan speed controller is also in here
3:51 everything's just kind of loose in the Box it's not the best package I've ever
3:55 seen a product but I mean it's not like any of this is fragile and going to be
3:58 damaged so you just plug this in on the one side here you just kind of line it
4:03 up so that it goes in like that and then at the one end this goes into your
4:07 motherboard header or into a Molex to three pin adapter and then this plugs
4:10 into your fan and then you can use this little dial here to adjust the fan speed
4:14 very cool okay next we have
4:17 um H okay we've got a little uh baggie
4:21 of thermal compound as well as four push pins I'm going to go ahead and assume
4:24 that those are for AMX am2 am2 plus am3 next they include
4:30 not only two uh fan wire Clips but four
4:34 so that means that besides the 92 mm fan included you can also mount an
4:38 additional 92mm fan to the unit without buying any accessories besides what's
4:43 included in the Box okay so before we get to the actual
4:48 heat pipe cooler itself why don't we have a look at the
4:51 fan there it is a 92 mm fan the blades
4:55 spin like this it's all shiny and even
4:58 the fan itself is is pretty silver and shiny it has uh one of those transparent
5:04 plastic uh three pin connectors it's quite long you shouldn't have too much
5:07 trouble with that like all of the latest generation silent x i extreme a fans it
5:11 uses a small Hub in the center and their claim is that that gives you more usable
5:16 airflow Space versus fans with a larger Hub I kind of buy
5:20 that okay next we have the actual heat
5:23 pipe cooler itself so why don't we start cuz I usually do this at the end why
5:27 don't we start with the obligatory finger do so you can see that it is not
5:32 all that shiny but if there to be believed it is quite flat I can actually
5:36 feel the Machining marks though quite and clearly with my fingernail uh
5:39 whether or not that's going to be a problem when you're actually cooling a processor with it yeah it remains to be
5:43 seen but you can see actually I'm going to like get up to show the camera this
5:47 maybe I'll Shine the Light directly at it see if we can get it to focus a
5:51 little better oh that is not
5:54 helping there we go okay so you can see
5:57 that they've actually lapped the heat pipe surface itself so that's
6:02 what they mean by heat pipe direct touch okay and then so these are three nice
6:07 thick heat pipes these are still thick even by today's standards despite the
6:10 fact that this is a relatively old product and then you can see that the uh
6:15 fins are quite close together not really they're not jammed in that close so they
6:19 should perform quite well with a low air flow fan low noise fan which you would
6:23 make sense because silent X Prides themselves and their low noise low
6:27 airflow fans I mean I don't mean low air flow I mean they're low air flow
6:31 compared to a high noise fan the top is very shiny so you can probably actually
6:35 see my camera there you go yeah you can totally see my camera in the top of it
6:39 so I really like that and it has like a silent X logo on it I think that pretty
6:43 much covers if I can find my remote
6:46 everything I wanted to say about this particular cooler and so thank you for
6:50 checking out my unboxing
