0:01 ah nothing like hosting TechLinked on a holiday when there's no one else in the
0:05 office got the got the tech news all to myself
0:08 not lonely at all oh unless you count
0:13 dennis uh hi dennis i forgot i forgot you were here yeah i'm here so remember
0:17 last week when the u.s government banned american companies from doing business
0:20 with huawei yeah uh turns out that's a
0:23 really huge deal in compliance with the white house order google suspended
0:28 business with huawei which means huawei will no longer have access to the latest
0:32 Android os and system updates huawei devices will still have access to the
0:36 play store and updates for their apps but on a system level the company will
0:40 be restricted to using whatever version of Android is available from the Android
0:44 open source project or aosp like a like
0:48 a common peasant but guess what other companies are also american and have to
0:52 comply with the order Intel qualcomm and broadcom who are also suspending sales
0:57 of components to huawei now for their part huawei have guaranteed their
1:00 customers will receive in-house security updates but it's clear this move will
1:04 have a significant impact on the company's global ambitions and its
1:08 customers experience it's important to note that all of these anti-huawei
1:12 developments are recurring despite a lack of concrete evidence that the
1:16 company is being used as a spying tool for the chinese government u.s
1:20 intelligence apparently showed classified information to tech giant
1:23 executives in recent months to brief them on the dangers of companies like
1:27 huawei but any proof of spying if it
1:30 exists has yet to make it to the public the american commerce department
1:34 actually said that parts of the huawei ban may be scaled back to mitigate the
1:38 potentially disastrous effects this situation might have on the businesses
1:42 of both huawei and american companies
1:45 all this to say if you were thinking about getting a huawei phone
1:50 maybe just wait until the dust settles a bit
1:53 there's lots of other really great chinese phones oh no
1:58 no no no Intel is facing a crisis of their own in the fallout from last
2:02 week's revelations concerning more speculative execution vulnerabilities
2:06 found in the company's processors Intel chips will soon be getting patches for
2:10 the flaws known as zombie load ridl fallout store to leak forwarding and
2:15 collectively known as mds AMD has taken this opportunity to let the public know
2:20 their chips are completely safe from these attacks thanks to hardware
2:24 protection checks in their architecture not only that but Intel chips will
2:28 suffer a performance hit thanks to the patches and according to pharonix that
2:32 could mean anything from a 16 to 50 percent decrease depending on the
2:36 workload meanwhile AMD's chips are sitting pretty with a minimal impact
2:39 from any fixes that need to be applied so the whole Intel chips are best for
2:43 gaming might not be true for very long i mean it's kind of a
2:47 net negative for overall chip performance but i like to celebrate the
2:51 small wins with AMD keep going guys you're doing great
2:56 and google glass is coming back why it's
2:59 anyone's guess you want a google glass dennis
3:02 yes do you know everything google anything google ah that sounds dangerous
3:06 you want google spying on you sure watch me
3:11 but the division behind the wearable formerly known as google x and now known
3:15 simply as x has officially unveiled glass enterprise edition 2 running a
3:20 qualcomm snapdragon xr1 system on chip the device also features improved camera
3:25 performance bluetooth 5 and the exact same physical design apparently it looks
3:30 like the x team responsible for glass are moving out of alphabet's moonshot
3:33 division and into the ar vr division of google where it will
3:37 continue to develop its products alongside the daydream and ar core teams
3:42 maybe in a post pokemon go and minecraft earth world there will be a bit more
3:46 acceptance for people with computers and cameras on their heads but not computers
3:50 and cameras foreheads i'm sorry dennis we're just not ready
3:55 for that now it's time for quick bits brought to you by brilliant look

4:36 sounds like a deal to me
4:41 hmm was it quick bits or was it
4:44 yeah another story from last week with continuing fallout is the epic game
4:48 store's mega sale apparently the communication between epic and game
4:52 publishers wasn't so solid and as a result some games including borderlands
4:56 3 and vampire masquerade bloodlines 2 have been removed from the store
5:01 previously you were able to pre-order those games but they'll be apparently
5:04 unavailable until the sale concludes on june 13th
5:08 whoopsies but also you shouldn't be pre-ordering things
5:12 anyways and maybe you don't like that i'm telling you what to do well i'm not
5:15 ruin the industry and your own life see if i care i do care please don't do that
5:19 you'd think that sony making a deal with microsoft about cloud gaming would
5:23 concern the gaming part of sony the
5:26 playstation team but apparently they weren't even aware the deal was taking
5:29 place and now they have to do business with their bitter xbox rivals well at
5:34 least they'll be able to talk to nintendo because that company is joining the powwow and is apparently looking
5:39 into using microsoft's cloud tech for their own streaming solutions wow it's
5:43 like microsoft is the nerdy kid at school who was bullied until the cool
5:46 kids got him to do their homework and he thought they wanted to be friends
5:50 but they just wanted him for his cloud streaming technology
5:53 the classic story google's newly released pixel 3a and
5:57 3axl phones are doing what newly released pixel phones do and
6:01 experiencing problems users are reporting the phones are shutting
6:04 themselves down booting into safe mode or performing a factory reset may help
6:08 the issue but until google gets a patch out all 3a users can do is take this
6:13 opportunity to put their phone down and look around at the real world for pete's
6:17 sake you don't have to see everything through a gender swap filter
6:22 you do want to see everything through that dennis early builds of microsoft's
6:27 chromium-based edge have been out for a while and now mac users can try it out
6:30 for themselves or try out firefox or
6:33 just regular chrome just anything but safari
6:37 just get out of there and a forum called og users which was a popular place for
6:42 hackers and cyber criminals to trade stolen account credentials was itself
6:46 hacked last week with forum users usernames passwords emails ip addresses
6:52 and private messages being leaked along with the source code for the website
6:56 itself now we just need someone to hack the hackers who hack the hacking form
6:59 and the rest of us will probably be safe i mean we can just we can just chill let
7:03 them fight it out among themselves you know i'm sure that's how that works and it's
7:08 safe to say that's enough tech news for one day guys thanks for watching and if
