so today I'll be unboxing the head Mouse 2 or the uh ocz Nia neural impulse
0:06
actuator plus I actually don't know much about this yet but I am about to
0:12
hopefully learn a little something about it now I do know about the original Nia
0:17
the original Nia used your basically your brain waves facial expressions eye
0:21
movements all that kind of stuff to translate into game control or just
0:27
general PC control cameraman also want want me to mention we have NC lanyards
0:32
coming soon these are pretty sweet I actually already grabbed one for myself
0:35
here so I have switched over my old lanyard to the new NCIX lanyard so why
0:40
don't we just have a look at what's on the back of the box here and it looks
0:43
like they say pretty much what I already said so you can concentrate that uh turn
0:49
it into keyboard and mouse controls new levels of gaming not previously possible
0:53
they tout it as a way to um heighten the response time for intense games so you
0:58
can have a thought faster than you can have a thought and then press a button
1:03
is the theory okay uh they say it doesn't take a whole lot of time I've
1:07
never actually used uh the original Nia uh or this one yet but I will take some
1:12
time to use this thing and see what I think of it um honestly the whole thing
1:17
sounded like a gimmick to me and when they said well we'll send you one I said
1:22
okay well we'll see how it goes so I'm going to try it out and I'm going to
1:26
approach this with an open mind because
1:29
you know what I've been surprised by stranger things being better than I
1:34
thought in the past so here we are it comes out of its little sleeve and then
1:39
it's a white box which comes open somehow there we are oh that's actually
1:44
a pretty nice presentation look at that okay so there's a piece of paper inside
1:48
please read okay thank you for particip
1:52
oh this is probably not for uh this is probably not for end users pre-release
1:57
version of the so something something something updated biometric scan sweet
2:04
there's a bunch of new software that's uh going with the Nia plus uh rather
2:09
than the old Nia so that's pretty good and then hopefully I'll be able to give
2:12
you a lot more details on this uh once I
2:16
have a chance to go through this thing and actually test it so why don't we
2:20
have a look at the included stuff in the Box first we have the Mia unit
2:24
itself okay so this is kind of a brushed aluminum thing it's got some dust on it
2:29
but no big deal it has kind of um like a
2:33
curvy shape to it very Space Age looking
2:36
I suppose it's uses a USB interface and that looks like a reset switch in the
2:40
back here uh let's go around to the front that is the n link so I'm assuming
2:45
that's how it plugs into the headband and then up on the top we've got our Nia
2:49
branding again little brushed aluminum box it's quite heavy actually so there's
2:53
got to be something inside there there's your ocz branding on the top there's my
2:58
serial number the warranty is void if you remove that or that all right so
3:03
there's the Nia unit itself and here is
3:06
the headband it's quite flexible now they say it's one size fits all but I
3:12
guess that remains to be seen and I'm going to wait to put that on so I'm
3:15
going to show you the other accessories first oh this is just a USB cable and
3:19
this is the Nia software pre-release version so it's on just a CD with a
3:23
paper printed thing on it so I'm guessing the retail one will come with a
3:27
proper CD oh this is cool this looks like little tentacles coming out of the
3:31
back of your head so it's like this thing is like an alien or something so
3:36
hold on there's got to be instructions or something here here here here okay
3:39
bear bear with me cuz I'm going to try and figure out how to wear the headband
3:44
if you are a beginner do this do
3:47
that no nothing they actually do not
3:51
tell you how to put it on so it must be
3:54
really easy then it must just be a matter of just putting it on this thing
3:58
looks really weird actually it's kind of a here let's just like look at the unit
4:01
itself so it's got kind of a rubbery to it okay and it's quite soft and sort of
4:08
spongy feeling there's uh okay there's
4:12
two oh here here this may be like pre-release Hardware so might not be the
4:15
actual fit and finish of it but basically there's a cord going in there
4:19
in fact I can pretty much guarantee that's not finalized fit and finish but
4:23
hopefully it has all the functionality and then that ends in your little end
4:26
link there so that'll come out this way
4:29
and then and here are the little uh pads that make contact with your head so
4:34
that's what reads your your brain waves and uh translates that into something
4:38
that your computer can understand and then yeah so why don't we go ahead and
4:42
put this on so it has to make direct contact with your skin in all likelihood
4:47
uh okay you just press this little button here and you pull the tentacles out in order to uh expand the headband
4:53
apparently I have a larger head than anyone at ocz was expecting okay and it
4:58
goes on just like that and the cameraman's got a
5:02
big old smile on his face he thinks this is funny yeah well laugh it up maybe
5:07
you'll be trying the Nia next cameraman okay thank you for checking out my
5:11
unboxing of the ocz Nia plus head mouse
5:16
or like head crab it's a head something anyway yes that's it thank you for
