hey guys Brandon here so to give you some context for previous nabs
0:03
Blackmagic has managed to steal the show for the past four years with their
0:06
camera announcements naturally this year was no different with the announcement
0:09
of the Ursa mini which is poised to be one of the most interesting cameras
0:12
announced at NAB 2015 this year let's check it
0:24
out lonus techtips coverage of NAB 2015
0:27
is powered by Sennheiser Kingston and linda.com the Ura mini seems to be the
0:31
result of Blackmagic finally taking feedback from Real World Shooters and
0:35
making a camera that is finally reasonably ergonomic starting with the
0:38
specs the Ursa mini now supports two main sensor options the older 4K sensor
0:43
from last year's Blackmagic Ursa release as well as a brand new impressive 4.6k
0:49
sensor that claims 15 stops of dynamic range one of the most interesting things
0:53
about the sensor is that it has both a rolling and Global shutter with the
0:58
ability to shoot up to 30 FPS with the global shutter and 60 FPS with the
1:02
rolling shutter at 4.6k resolution if you are not in need of the 4.6k
1:07
resolution the camera will also shoot up to 160 FPS in regular 1080p moving on to
1:13
the physical features of the camera you can get it with either a Canon EF or a
1:17
cinema standard PL Mount the Ura mini is also sporting a large 5-in touchcreen
1:22
that nearly makes up one side of the camera however if you do not want to use
1:25
it there is also buttons on the exterior of the monitor for easy access to
1:29
control like custom function keys and record for recording media Blackmagic
1:33
has chosen the new cast 2.0 standard of cards which at the moment are quite
1:38
pricey but with more cameras this year adapting the format I am hopeful that
1:41
the cost will come down soon the URS mini also comes with a surprisingly
1:45
solid remote hand grip that allows you to start and stop recording as well as
1:48
map other custom features to the other two buttons on the controller the evf
1:52
attached is a $1,500 optional accessory that was actually surprisingly
1:56
impressive it's a 1920x 1080 OLED
1:59
display that produced a very crisp image likely to be my favorite new feature of
2:03
this camera is the two built-in XLR ports in the top that are easily
2:06
adjusted with the audio dials on the side of the camera in camera audio is a
2:10
simple feature but very few cameras at this level do it well and with the
2:13
addition of the built-in microphone at the front to complement the xlrs the SS
2:17
mini finally looks like a camera that you can take out of the box and just start shooting with lastly in terms of
2:22
the rest of the I/O on the camera it has two SDI out reference in time codee in a
2:27
four pin XLR power out with a 12vt main
2:30
power in a lcat controller for the remote hand grip and a 3.5 mm headphone
2:36
jack for monitoring audio with all these impressive specs and features Blackmagic
2:40
has managed to price the Ursa Mini at a very competitive
2:43
$4,995 for the 4.6k version with an
2:46
additional $500 for the pl Mount version and having the older sensor version
2:51
coming in at even lower prices than that as someone who has been using Blackmagic
2:55
cameras for the last 2 years I excited to see Blackmagic truly take the first
2:59
steps to a well-rounded production camera that could suit many shooting
3:02
situations that their previous cameras may not have been perfect for thank you
