so today I am going to be unboxing Microsoft Windows 7 now I realize
0:04
there's not really a a whole lot to unbox here there's a lot of uh text
0:08
about um making sure that you agree to all of this stuff before you open it so
0:12
uh let's get started basically Windows 7 what does it
0:17
bring to the table well we've got the Home Premium Edition here today and
0:20
there are a couple other editions there's professional and yeah
0:24
professional is back folks it's no longer called business and then there's
0:28
also the ultimate edition so so with our home premium here we get welcome to your
0:33
PC simplified this OEM software may not be delivered under blah blah blah unless
0:38
companied okay so we're going to lift pick up these there's your Windows 7
0:42
Home Premium it comes in a jewel case that is sealed as per this so uh let's
0:48
find out what is in the documentation first so then we'll talk a little bit
0:52
about Windows 7 itself it's uh it's about a simpler PC from day one okay
0:57
that's great three easy steps let's get personal awesome so they're giving you a
1:01
couple little Basics about how to use the OS and they talk through they
1:05
actually we should show this I think they talk about a lot of the stuff that they've done to make things better so
1:09
first of all the taskbar has been improved you can have multiple Windows
1:13
that just pop up to show you all of the different things that you have open in
1:17
for example Internet Explorer so you've got three IE Windows open you can
1:20
preview them and then click the one you want that's pretty useful they've also
1:24
got these uh what are these called jump lists so that gives you common tasks
1:29
that you do according to what you use this program
1:32
for so they're using Windows Media Player as an example so you frequently
1:35
do this and then they're giving you some standard ones as well and then there's
1:39
also the desktop preview which is really useful so you drag your mouse down to
1:43
the very bottom right and then one of the other things that I really like
1:47
about it is Arrow shake so basically all you need to do is shake a window it'll
1:51
maximize and then if you shake it again I believe it
1:56
minimizes and if you use the arrow snap
1:59
you actually just drag a window to the left to the right or to the top to
2:03
maximize so if you drag it to the right it takes up the right half of your
2:07
screen if you drag it to the left it'll go to the left half of your screen so
2:10
that's a pretty cool feature as well oh here's the desktop preview one so it
2:14
just makes all of your Windows translucent and you can see the desktop
2:17
if you click it then you'll go to the desktop just like the show desktop
2:20
button on Windows Vista and Windows XP so Windows Media Center is one of the
2:25
big features included with Home Premium and let's talk a little bit about the
2:29
differences between Home Premium professional and ultimate so our diss
2:34
looks like just our standard uh Windows DVD it's a 64bit Edition here you can
2:39
buy it in 32 or 64-bit I'd really recommend going 64-bit at this point
2:43
though Windows 7 Professional okay
2:46
Windows 7 Professional gives you a couple of options that you don't have
2:49
with Home Premium first of all you get XP Mode so XP Mode means that you can
2:54
run any XP application in 100% compatibility mode you do need a
2:58
virtualization ready proc processor so make sure that you have that but it
3:02
looks like a really cool feature the other thing you get with both XP Pro
3:06
with XP Pro with seven professional and seven ultimate is the ability to
3:11
downgrade to Vista business Vista ultimate respectively or to Windows XP
3:17
Pro all you have to do is install Windows XP Pro enter any old serial you
3:21
can find it doesn't even have to be a valid one to be perfectly honest with
3:24
you then you go to activate it'll fail you call up Microsoft you say Hey I'm
3:29
downgrading them you get your Windows you give them your Windows 7 key they'll
3:33
give you a valid Windows XP key to use until you're ready to go back to Windows
3:37
7 so thank you for checking out my unboxing of Microsoft Windows 7
