as you may have guessed based on the fact that I'm holding a measuring tape
0:05
we are going to be doing a length comparison with the new 6870 against a
0:09
couple of the last generation high-end cards with which it will either compete
0:14
or uh replace on the market so let's have a look let's start with the 6870 so
0:20
we're measuring right from the back of the PCI bracket and because cameraman's
0:25
measuring tape is inconveniently in inches we're going to have to go ahead
0:29
and give the results in inches so if you want to come have a look over here right
0:33
here from the top cameraman this is a nine and just a little bit over 3/4 of
0:39
an inch so it's like 9 and uh 7/8 of an
0:43
inch long and remember it makes a
0:46
difference whether the PCI Express power connectors are on the back of the card
0:51
or the top because if you got a card that's uh 9 and 78 of an inch long but
0:56
it has a PCI Express connector hanging out the back of it that means you got
1:00
account for that plug so this one is going to fit as long as you have 9 and
1:05
78 in in your case so next up we have
1:10
NVIDIA's ruler of the roost and this one
1:13
is 102 in so the new 6870 which I don't
1:17
actually know the performance of yet will uh compare at least in length quite
1:22
favorably to the GTX 480 480 GTX that is
1:26
and then AMD's 5870 is 11 in Long so the
1:30
6870 is a little bit shorter than its
1:33
previous generation similarly named
1:36
cousins so thank you for checking out my length comparison with the 6870 against
1:41
the GTX 480 as well as the HD 5870
