0:00 So today we're going to be doing a quick unboxing first look and practical test
0:04 of the Sony Cybershot DSC tx5 camera so
0:10 first of all let's do the boring specs first of all second of all it is
0:14 waterproof that's not boring but it is a spec next it is 10.2 megapixels it has a
0:19 4X optical zoom and a 25mm wide angle
0:23 lens which is 35 mm format okay it comes
0:26 with one battery pack but you can also get an optional one and it
0:31 records oh that's a very strange way to advertise that well it records still
0:35 images in full 1080p HD but it does way
0:39 more than that obviously cuz it's 10.2 megapixels but it actually records video
0:43 in 720p so here on the back there's a bunch of other stuff let's just get this
0:47 open pretty much I just want to get to the part where we actually um put it
0:53 underwater so we find first of all our one-year warranty card then we have a uh
0:58 notes on waterproofing oh okay this might actually be worth having a look at
1:02 uh damage caused from misuse is not covered uh closing the corners properly
1:07 closing all the or the corners the covers properly cleaning it after the
1:11 camera is under and near water okay so these are all important steps to make
1:14 sure that the camera stays waterproof then we've got a driver disc then we
1:19 have uh a registration offer we got a notes
1:25 on using the camera underwater personal some kind of accessories brochure then
1:29 we have a users manual which is in uh
1:32 English and French for Canada okay then
1:36 we find the actual camera itself so we got a charger we got our battery battery
1:40 goes in the charger just a little something like that then we have a oh
1:45 boy what is this I have no idea what this is so yeah
1:53 then we've got a couple included cables I hope no one is closing that door
1:57 behind us cuz then we're going to be stuck out here I've got One USB data
2:00 cable as well as a composite video out
2:05 cable so that plugs into the camera and then we have the camera itself so you
2:09 can see you got your basic specs here it is waterproof up to 10 ft it is shock
2:14 proof from 5 ft although we're not going to be doing that particular test it is
2:18 dust proof I mean you can assume anything that keeps water out is also
2:21 going to keep out dust and then it is also Freeze Proof so it can be operated
2:26 down to -10° C or 14° fhe it has
2:30 intelligent sweep Panorama as well as outstanding low light performance okay
2:34 there's your 4X optical zoom has a Carl ice lens and Optical steady shot so it
2:39 has Optical image stabilization that's pretty cool there's your flash and uh
2:44 here let's uh see if we can figure out how to put okay so here we can open the
2:50 bottom this way oh this is quite tricky
2:54 to remove actually oh there we go okay so you got your uh your seals around
2:58 here probably somewhere the battery goes in right here and I wish I had an SD
3:03 card because now we're not going to be able to actually do the test on camera
3:07 but what I can do is I can um just turn it
3:12 on okay turn it on H so far it's not turning on that
3:19 seems like a bad sign doesn't it maybe I put the battery in wrong no I did not so
3:25 we'll put the battery in again close it up yeah okay and then we're going to
3:31 turn it on yeah there we go that time it turned on excellent so let's see if it
3:36 has any internal memory uh no no it doesn't have internal
3:39 memory oh it does have a touch screen I should have mentioned that so it's got a nice big touch screen which actually
3:44 we're even out here in direct sunlight right now and I'm able to see it quite
3:47 easily can you see it on the camera uh cameraman says no yes so I'm not really
3:52 sure exactly what he's getting at there but yeah so we can go through the menu
3:56 we can set whatever it is that we want to set we're I think we're in
4:01 720p uh fine recording quality right now
4:04 so why don't we just do this there that
4:08 was our test it's underwater and it's
4:11 still working uh lens is a little dirty so I'm
4:15 going to just kind of you know clean it like this it is still working can you
4:20 can you see that through the bin I don't know if you're going to be able to see
4:24 that but can you see it from the top here you can come look from the top so
4:28 we've got the camera in the Water right now and it is still functioning so I can
4:32 go ahead and press buttons and stuff like that it's still telling me the
4:35 memory card is required but the touchcreen is fully operational even
4:39 underwater and I'm not having any difficulty using it so besides not
4:45 knowing how to use this camera so handheld Twilight oh hey here's all your
4:49 little movie or picture adjustments cool
4:53 okay so you know what what I actually think we were trying to achieve
4:57 here today we have achieved we have tested it on underwater let's make sure
5:01 it's shock proof too let's just whack it a little bit yeah it's all good Okay
5:05 cool so thank you for checking out my unboxing of the Sony Cybershot DSC tx5
