okay so today I have a pretty cool product from nocta actually there are
0:04
two new products from Noctua that I'm going to unbox this is one of them and
0:08
the other one is here so you can check out the other video in probably a day or
0:12
two but this is the NH D14 this is their
0:15
largest heat pipe cooler to date to give you some idea of the scale of this thing
0:19
here it is next to my head okay this is
0:22
a huge huge box so as you may or may not
0:26
have figured out based on the 14 in the name this cooler uses a 140 mm or 14 cm
0:34
fan so let's start getting this opened up we first have the accessory package
0:40
inside here now we've just gotten these in stock these were actually just
0:43
released very recently by no to us so let's see what we've got first of all we
0:48
have a screwdriver okay so they include a screwdriver for you to mount whatever
0:52
it is you need to mount then inside here we have a metal knock to a case badge
0:56
very shiny very nice quality four fan screws we have two low noise adapters
1:03
and then two ultra low noise adapters we
1:06
have a tube of nth1 thermal compound and
1:11
we also have last but not least four of their rubber isolating fan mounts so
1:15
four screws and four rubber fan mounts then we have and nocuous manuals are
1:20
exceptional always they've actually this oh this is cool okay so they got a
1:24
little package here then there's the Intel side and the AMD side so it comes
1:28
with separate instructions depending in where you're going to mount it their manuals are always excellent and include
1:33
all of the steps it's all colorcoded very nice I really appreciate that when
1:37
I'm trying to mount something um okay then we have the AMD
1:42
mounting hardware and next is the Intel
1:46
mounting hardware now the way they've updated their new seu firm 2 mounting
1:50
hardware is such that you can use it on LGA 775 1156 and 1366 without any sorts
1:58
of modifications or any anything like that now let's get down into the next
2:03
layer this is a box it is empty okay
2:08
actually it is full of another box which is here okay and
2:15
then down in the B oh there's more come out oh okay so there's nothing in there
2:21
this is just a box wow this is really well packed actually that's awesome cuz
2:26
uh there's I I can't see any conceivable way this thing could be damaged in
2:30
shipment it has like so much packing around it so uh that's another box okay
2:37
let's get to the actual cooler itself now finally now what I didn't tell you I
2:42
did say this was a 140 mm cooler but
2:45
what I didn't tell you is that it is also a 120 mm cooler the NH D14 and I'm
2:53
going to double check yeah D14 okay here is our nickel plated copper base with
2:58
six heat pipe cool coolers okay but this
3:01
is not only a 140 mil fan it is also a
3:05
120 mil fan cooler so you can see they've actually got two sandwiched heat
3:11
pipe Towers each with six heat pipes
3:14
because they're doing the u-shape at the bottom where it runs up through both and
3:17
then they've actually got a 120 mil fan on the one side and then a 140 mm fan in
3:24
the middle now I want to turn this around this way so you can see why they
3:28
made the design decision the way they did the 140 mm fan the way it's mounted
3:33
here you can see it actually goes like way down close towards the motherboard
3:38
if they had actually used a 140 mm fan
3:41
on the other side then you would have had clearance problems potentially with
3:46
uh RAM or with the mosfet coolers or whatever else so they've made this
3:51
decision in order to maintain compatibility at a very high level now
3:55
Noctua Engineers everything for silence everything they do from the little
3:59
notches in the edges of the fan blades to the way that
4:03
they oh sorry I'm turning this around really fast to the way that they do the
4:07
ridges on the Leading Edge of the heat pipe coolers now one thing I'll talk
4:11
about really quickly before I wrap this up I mean this thing is a monster here's
4:15
the here's the head shot for scale again this thing is huge and it's actually
4:19
quite heavy as well is I just want to talk a little bit about the uh the 14
4:24
140 mm fan 14 cm fan itself this is
4:27
compatible with both 12 12 CM or 120 mm
4:31
fan mounts or 140 mm fan mounts and you can buy it separately so thank you for
4:35
checking out my unboxing and product overview of the
4:39
Noctua I've gone and forgotten NH D14
