0:44 fault and then we had another panic moment when we actually got back to my

0:48 house because my wife is back at work

0:52 now she was on maternity leave she's back and she um left the house today

0:57 because to go to work and the house was locked I was like oh but it's okay we

1:04 figured out a way to get in and everything was all right uh otherwise

1:08 there would be no live stream today at all which would have been sort of crappy

1:12 all the Badness yeah this morning we had to wait for the Russian to to track down

1:16 the key so I so I call the Russian I'm like I don't have the key for the studio

1:21 I forgot my keys today uh how do we get in and Russian's like oh yeah uh Esther

1:26 Esther has a key um I'm like okay I she's probably not in yet but I'll try

1:31 giving her a call find out how far away she is so the Russian's not not at work

1:35 yet and uh he's like BL yeah yeah get it for I'm like okay so I try to call

1:42 had like 10 Miss calls from me by the end of it uh I checked with the warehouse manager no apparently uh he

1:48 gave the only key to the Russian who claims Esther has it so finally I call

1:53 up the Russian I'm like do you know if if Esther's recording like an ad spot at

1:57 a radio station or something like that today is she coming in and Russian's

2:01 like no no she should be in I'm like okay well I can't get in touch with her

2:05 and the Russian like oh well okay I guess if you can't get in touch with her there's a key on my

2:09 desk so this is 45 minutes later I'm like Russian you didn't think to maybe

2:28 least 45 minutes yeah with us just like with all of our gear like sitting

2:31 outside the door of the studio waiting to go in and film unable to actually do

2:35 anything although we shot some pretty cool stuff today not that I'm going to

2:39 give any teasers or hints or anything like like that but uh you know yeah we

2:46 shot some pretty cool stuff today to do with some pretty cool products um

5:06 soon because we're going to go through the full pros and cons list of Xbox one

5:09 versus PS4 as well as just sort of our general take on how we feel about all

5:19 needed a new intro for a while it's just it's just dated um and Diesel the intern

8:23 benchmarking I was getting like oh wait which numbers are this I just ran Titan

8:27 is this Titan is that was that Titan no

8:30 no that's actually different and that was ran 1 minute ago so that's definitely 780 I mean how upset are you

8:36 if you bought a Titan at this point that was the thing I was stopping myself from

8:40 saying really there is some games where you see like a 5 to 10 FPS Improvement

8:45 yeah yeah we I I think probably the the the typical difference we saw was about

8:49 a 10% Delta or like almost the same yeah

8:53 with like Metro and I think Crisis 3 it was pretty much the same that's I think

8:58 I think those are the ones I know Metro was pretty much the same off by like2 of

9:02 a frame per second which is very possibly not even accurate I mean and

9:06 given that this is one of the most graphically demanding games that we have

9:09 access to at this point in time Metro last Light it's yeah it's pretty cool to

9:15 uh to see how close it is especially given that it's several hundred dollars

9:19 cheaper the only real difference I mean what an interesting angle that an on

9:23 Tech took on it is that well Titan wasn't a gaming card it was It was a

9:29 professional it was like a pro suer card it was like this in between where it was

9:32 like uh you had great gaming performance

9:36 you had full double

9:39 Precision um compute performance but not

9:43 quite you don't get virtualization or any of the other really cool stuff that

9:47 the that the kseries Tesla gpus do and

9:50 that is where 780 does differ is it does it has crippled compute performance so

9:56 there you go I mean Cuda is still going to be fine but you're not going to have

9:59 that double Precision floating point that was that that was enabled on Titan

10:04 so Titan is still this like it's great

10:07 for developers surprisingly cheap workstation card surprisingly

10:11 inexpensive like development card for

10:15 all kinds of crazy Cuda stuff and yeah I

10:19 mean 780 will still be able to perform really well in in like consumer grade

10:23 Cuda applications but when you're talking double Precision it's not going

10:26 to have that same capability and so apparently that that's worth a few hundred bucks and I'd say yeah it

10:31 probably is honestly it could be worth more than that could be worth more than

10:34 that I mean um many many of the press were surprised at how inexpensive Titan

10:39 was given that they had unlocked that

10:42 capability uh have Boll set up the camera every day yeah we that probably

10:46 isn't going to be a problem especially once we move to the new place the

10:50 organizational organization of everything we do should actually be

10:54 better one thing we didn't even take into account is it'll take us longer to

10:57 get to the new place yeah so we'll probably have to leave earlier in the

11:01 day we like have to have it at 4:30 yeah

11:04 and then the stream will have to be 4:30 cuz we're actually already leaving

12:27 has thrown oh this be handy I should move this over here yes so I can

12:31 actually read my notes while I show you the article so NASA has issued a

12:37 $125,000 grant to the same guys that brought us the chocolate printer in

12:42 order to develop I think I mean okay

12:45 saying you know yes we're trying to develop Pizza on Mars is just a way of

12:50 saying that we're trying to develop 3D printable food in a way that is

12:55 nutritious enough and palatable enough and pizza happens to be sorry go ahead

13:00 well if you think about it it's a pie yes so you can have whatever you want on

13:05 it so it's a very good base to start with yes and being able to

13:10 sensationalize it by saying Pizza might bring more media attention and possibly

13:14 even more fun so printing in in Lay I mean basically what makes pizza

13:18 fascinating is the fact that you can print it in layers so you can print the

13:22 crust and then the tomato sauce or whatever tomato synthesized tomato sauce

13:28 or what ketchup I mean h 3D printer that's loaded with

13:33 nothing but like ketchup and okay never

13:36 mind this can't be good um so so the so a 3D printer that goes okay crust tomato

13:41 paste and then like protein layer yeah and then it like it so it's very 3D

13:46 printable so there so it'll be able to print with just one print head and then

13:49 there will also be a heating element involved that could that could make this thing so the idea is that for long-term

13:55 space missions um I I think they're asking for 50 year shelf life for

14:00 anything to take with them and the creators are saying that you could

14:05 expect up to almost a 30e shelf life 25

14:08 30 years out of these powdered components that it would be just kind of

14:13 like add water add oil and get food with

14:25 go um this brings something up that's very interesting I don't know if I've

14:29 even talked to you about this and it's definitely not in our document prep so

14:41 interested in on this exact same thing like being able to preserve it for a

14:44 very long time being able to consume just kind of one style of ingredient and

14:49 still be okay is soilent have I talked to you about soilent at all no there's a

14:54 engineer somewhere in the states I know he has degrees in a few things um and

14:59 he's come up with this solution called soilent which is a whole bunch of

15:03 different okay I might say some things wrong here because I haven't prepped

15:06 this this is just random stuff that I've been interested in and looked up you're

15:10 okay um basically it's all it's it's

15:14 kind of like the Matrix thing you know that like slop that they eat y it's all

15:19 the stuff your body needs huh and it's in this drink that you is just very

15:24 saturated with water and you just boom and you're fine he's been on it for

15:28 three and a half months I think and he's fine he's lost a bunch of weight he

15:33 feels more energetic um blah blah blah blah like everything's kind of

15:38 improved one thing is it tastes pretty much the same every time but if this is

15:43 yeah the only person on the development so far has been some engineer who is not

15:47 interested by the taste of food and finds meals to be like taxing and waste

15:51 of time so once it maybe gets past him

15:55 maybe someone can inject flavor in it or something but basically there is like

15:59 the solution for what we need for food and one thing that's very interesting

16:02 about it is because it's just a whole bunch of chemicals basically but when

16:06 you break everything down it's all just a whole bunch of chemicals um they can

16:11 be tuned to the diet that you specifically need so say you need more

16:15 iron or something you can just put more iron in it huh so it can be used as your

16:20 food and a dietary dietary supplement at the exact same time so so the the

16:24 application of this is obviously space travel but I was actually it's funny

16:28 that you mentioned that the engineer couldn't be ared to make meals and

16:31 bother with eating cuz I was going to say how much you want to bet that an exp

16:36 like that that sales explode once there's a unit that can sit next to your

16:41 computer because how many gamers if they

16:45 actually didn't have to move from their computer and could just press the pizza

16:49 button would not even bother to go in the freezer take out a Hot Pocket put it

16:54 in the microwave take it out from there and then eat it if you could just press

16:57 the Hot Pocket button game Cher like changes the flavor of whatever and you

17:01 just drink it gameer um I was even thinking I I signed up for

17:06 trials he was doing like applicants to sign up for trials um I signed up for

17:10 trials because what I wanted to do was a 66% replacement so what I was thinking I

17:15 skip breakfast and lunch a lot of the time because I don't have time like I'm

17:19 I'm benchmarking something I'm doing whatever I don't want to go take a lunch

17:22 so I usually skip breakfast and lunch um so if I can just have like a big cup of

17:28 something that I can just kind of carry around with me then I would actually

17:32 have breakfast and lunch which would be way healthier than just not eating

17:35 breakfast and lunch I mean they've tried to do this with like you know protein

17:39 shakes or meal replacement shakes but doing it actually doing and it's

17:43 actually the stuff your body needs instead of protein shakes and meal replacements which are usually not

17:47 actually what you need comment from t23 in the twitch chat take out of wrapper

17:52 Place directly in toilet I mean why even bother why even bother digesting it at

17:57 all um what was I going to say yeah so he

18:01 basically just has these big bags of chemicals and it's super cheap right

18:10 like I I am one of those people who I mean a lot of people are about the

18:14 experience of food I love food but I don't have the time for food and and

18:19 arranging it and making it look nice and putting it on nice dishes and putting it

18:23 on the table and then sitting around and enjoying it and all these things and I

18:27 mean that's great but like you I'm at a life stage right now where lonus Media

18:31 Group is moving way too fast to sit in

18:34 and enjoy the smell of food like so

18:38 having something like this would be would be absolutely fantastic um so guys

20:16 okay cuz this was on the 21st reported by The Verge okay so maybe it was so it

20:21 was around the same time but uh but okay we'll get into the wi sales hike in in a

20:29 they come out and they're like because they said no games in development

20:33 whereas now CFO Blake jensson is saying there are games in development just not

20:37 nearly as many as the other Next Generation platforms that are that are

20:42 coming out so

21:02 it I mean would you buy a Wii U if I

21:06 bought a console I would probably buy a Wii U really okay tell me why uh if I'm

21:12 going to play something like a shooter or something that's very graphically

21:16 intensive I'm probably going to want to play it on my computer okay even if it's

21:20 a racer a lot of racers also come up for computer and I can just plug a

21:23 controller in yeah that's something so many people are like oh yeah I play

21:27 racing games on my console because of the controller I'm pretty stoked for

21:32 Microsoft 1 because the controller looks cool and I can plug it into my

21:37 computer yeah um and then but with Wii

21:41 you get the experience where like okay if I have a whole bunch of people sitting around the TV I probably want to

21:46 play something more fluffy and fun Mario games with that said that was how I

21:51 Justified buying a Wii to myself and

21:54 have you seen me touch my Wii since we've started L Media Group

22:03 yes like the game console we played not since lus Media Group started

22:09 was that which is like five months now okay yeah yeah no no no I haven't and we

22:13 did and and but I have mine at home you have used your okay okay so the problem

22:18 is just that I don't have friends okay but then I've also used my

22:24 NES and my Super NES and my N64

22:29 okay and then the only reason why the Wii comes out is if someone wants to

22:34 play a new game someone wants to see it or was going to happen didn't know when

22:40 I mean honestly like given the opportunity that they had to change the

22:44 branding of the Wii like given what just

22:48 a catastrophically stupid name Wii was

22:51 why did they call it Wii U like

22:56 really I don't know so I can't answer

22:59 it's just terrible I mean they were also probably scared of breaking The Branding

23:02 too much but then bring it back to NES I mean honestly and still like Wii U I I

23:08 wouldn't use one if someone gave it to me and there's more reasons for that

23:12 than just like casual games versus hardcore games or whatever else I mean

23:17 take the time frame away why because the controller's stupid but don't they have

23:21 normal controllers as well you could still use a classic controller but if I

23:24 was still going to use a classic controller like how many other Solutions

23:29 are there I I mean the whole selling point of Wii U is it's got a screen on

23:34 it the problem with putting a screen on it is that the ergonomics are terrible I

23:39 mean if if I had to complain about something about the Razer Edge which is

23:43 razer's gaming tablet it's a 10.1 in tablet it's that for me with my shoulder

23:48 span with my shoulder width I found I was in a bit of an awkward position to

23:53 use the thing other than that it's a really cool device IPS panel it's got a

23:58 a GeForce graphics card that's much better than anything on board like it's

24:02 actually kind of cool battery life could be better but but for me the ergonomics

24:05 were funny and I found it was much the same with the Wii U even standing there

24:10 in a big box store playing with it for like three minutes I'm like oh yeah this

24:15 isn't comfortable maybe it's just because I'm used to using a controller

24:18 like this maybe I mean what is it well there's there's there's the same thing

24:22 with keyboards one of the purest ideas with keyboards the reason why these kind

24:26 of exist is because the idea is that a

24:29 full width keyboard isn't proper shoulder span so you're adjusting in an

24:34 angle and if you have a 10 keyless you can go straight forward so your mouse

24:38 can be straightforward and your hands can be fairly straightforward except for a pivot here right and then the number

24:43 pad can be on the right side because you're not going to use it much um for

24:47 me that doesn't matter my shoulder span's like what the mous is exactly

24:51 where it needs to be and again for the edge it was fine but then at the same

24:56 time Edge is a little bit heavy so if I want to use it my elbows are planted

25:00 we've got some pretty good debate going on in the twitch chat

25:04 already um about how ignorant the internet is

25:09 and how Xbox one is not just about the entertainment aspect and of course it'll

25:13 be games and it's going to be awesome that'll come out on don't worry it's

25:18 we're going to talk about that folks we're going to talk about that so let's

25:21 move into our next discussion topic because it's already we're already uh

25:25 third of the way through the live stream we've talked about two things

25:28 so this is something that we did want to have a little little conversation about

25:33 so for whoops uh last week uh it came

25:37 out that some of the US regulating bodies are are freezing accounts of

25:41 Mount goau and there's going to be a lot of different uh regulations that are

25:45 going to come in place because they're treating Bitcoin exchanges like

25:50 full-fledged financial institutions so they're putting um

25:54 some basically some roadblocks in place

25:57 such as that they have to adhere to moneya laundering prevention laws um as

26:02 well as things like anti-terror funding laws they have to have a lot of

26:06 transparency the anonymity is going to go away and apparently Canadian

26:09 Regulators according to the article on the register are basically going yep

26:14 come on into Canada yay go Canada um we

26:18 do not see you as uh I forget what the

26:22 actual terminology is but blah blah blah

26:26 blah blah claiming it was yeah so in the as it was they were claiming that mount

26:29 goau was operating as an unlicensed money service business whereas aha this

26:35 letter from the Canadian authorities said the entity your entity is not at

26:39 this time engaged as a Money Services business in Canada as per the proceeds

26:43 of the crime money laundering and terrorist financing and its Associated

26:47 regulations in fact your entity doesn't provide the services of remitting Andor

26:52 transfering funds for the sake of the service the transfer funds is simply a

26:55 corollary of your actual service of buying and selling virtual currency

26:59 therefore you do not have to register your entity with us very very

27:03 interesting so this is I mean it's good news for Americans too because I can't

27:07 think of any particular reason why they wouldn't be able to use a Canadian

27:11 exchange um and you know you'd have the additional trust factor of Canadians are

27:16 awesome no okay guys don't don't put all

27:19 your money in a Canadian Bitcoin exchange because lus said Canadian they might say they're sorry when they steal

27:24 it though yeah so so yeah so that's um I mean all of this is so in flux right now

27:30 the news is coming so fast and so hard

27:33 that you know even if something happens in the US if everyone else just kind of

27:39 goes completely the other way on it the us will have to figure out how to get in

27:51 that's the other thing is where the US might have to backpedal Canada might

27:55 fall suit with the us at some point who freaking knows but this virtual currency

34:36 information contained in a frame of video uh we are going to need ways to

34:41 compress video more and with the way that computing power continues to

34:45 progress along Mo's law we're going to have handheld devices that are capable

34:48 of 4K playback in no time uh where I mean we're going to be limited by how

34:52 much storage we have on these devices

34:56 and we're going to be limited by data rates through mobile as well as through

35:01 just the internet in general I mean if all video on the internet switch to 4K

35:06 tomorrow you'd hardly be able to load a web page there that's that's that is my

35:12 sort of outlandish statement of the day because all the serieses of tubes would

35:17 be completely clogged you can think of it like tubes that are backed up there's

35:23 no anyway so the point is we're going to need uh we're going to need new codex so

35:28 v9 is open source and backed by Google but

37:11 storage needs for cloud companies as well um actually one of the videos we

37:16 shot today that is embargoed is a storage product that is going to help

37:20 alleviate that but isn't going to fix it immediately

40:23 compress something you might be able to maintain the quality you you you might

40:27 be able to compress it down to the point where it's it's it's much much smaller

40:31 but it's going to take that much more processing power in real time to

40:35 actually play back these files and we're not just talking about desktop computers

40:39 desktop computers could probably play play back 4K content compressed in

40:43 whatever the heck you want today you stop but people are going to

40:48 want to enjoy this content on their phones and they're going to want to

40:51 enjoy it over their over their data over their data connection so processing

40:55 power is going to be a thing now there are ways of getting around processing

40:59 power and many microprocessors these days including things like gpus or CPUs

41:04 include dedicated h264 at decoding

41:08 Hardware so when you include the dedicated Hardware what you do is you

41:12 alleviate the power consumption and be by making more specialized hardware for

41:17 it it's much more efficient but that is the biggest challenge of all and that is

41:22 why h264 is not going anywhere for a

41:25 really long time because it is so deeply

41:29 entrenched I mean we are finally getting

41:32 to the point where NVIDIA with the GTX 780 is talking about Shadow play which

41:37 is going to leverage that built-in h264 encoder on the GPU to allow you to

41:43 record your gameplay videos without much of a performance hit h264 has been

41:47 around how long and we are finally fully leveraging the hardware and finally able

41:52 to roll out features across a product line because it's been long enough that

41:56 NVIDIA doesn't have to to go oh and by the way you can only use the latest GPU

42:00 that cost $600 yeah finally we're there

42:03 I mean neither of these formats is even one so I can tell you right now nobody

42:08 is designing hardware decoders for them yet nobody's even working on it not only

42:13 that but the dev cycle and production cycle and validation cycle of all that

42:17 plus the fact that it'll have to be deep in the product line before you can even

42:21 consider using it for anything that isn't plugged into a wall means we're a

42:24 really long way off but either way there you go that's my take on it and this

43:02 just with newer cards it's all Kepler architecture right just anything with an

43:05 h264 encoder as far as I know oh that should go further back wow okay that's

43:09 cool um anything with h264 encoder can

43:12 record 20 minutes of gameplay consistently so you will always have 20

43:16 minutes of gameplay as you go along it'll just remove the old stuff and

43:19 record more new stuff and then so if you find something that you really like you

43:24 can say tab over over and save that shot there's a manual ual mode um but we

43:29 don't know enough about it we don't actually have it yet so there's apparently a manual mode what I'm hoping

43:34 is that while you're going along if something cool happens you can activate

43:37 it but then it'll have the little bit from before as well so you won't miss

43:41 say there's like a really really intense like 2minute firefight but then there's

43:46 going to be a little bit after and you have like a breather where you can reload or whatever you can sit there

43:50 press the manual mode to make sure that you get the whole segment but then you

43:53 have the little bit from before as well like if you could have have Shadow play

43:57 running as a constant buffer like a constant cash 20 minutes then you'd

44:02 always have and you can set how much you want up to 20 up to 20 minutes in its

44:06 current implementation I think that's more just to keep from it taking up like

44:10 too much space running into weird issues cuz I don't see any reason why it

44:13 couldn't be more than that no so Shadow play will be constantly dumping out past

44:17 20 minutes and filling in the new stuff as you go but if you could make it so

44:20 you could be like um cuz Okay the way slow motion works on our fs700 is you

44:25 can have a start trigger which which is like okay something cool is about to happen press the button and then it

44:29 records you can have an end trigger which means the buffer on the camera is

44:34 constantly recording you can go oh something cool just happened boom

44:37 capture what just happened or you can be somewhere in the middle which is a

44:40 middle trigger which records the little bit of time before that and a little bit

44:44 of time after and I think that's what you're talking about where you could have different triggering events that

44:48 would allow you to use and I mean the NVIDIA is not even releasing Shadow play

44:52 at all in its first iteration until sometime in the summer they're saying

44:55 yeah and they're not talking about future features and they're not talking about this but imagine if you could use

44:59 it for live streaming oh my goodness like the whole thing's so cool I know

45:03 there's a manual mode where there's no time cap so if you tell it specifically

45:07 like I want you recording this you can record whole like League of Legends or

45:11 Starcraft matches or whatever and if you could have programs like twitch just

45:14 accept Shadow play as an input oh and it's they're talking maybe a 5%

45:18 performance hit which is enough nothing compared to fraps nothing compared to

45:22 fraps uh nothing compared to a lot of the solutions that are out there uh I

45:27 mean this is this is so cool this could be a game changer companies like a media must be just devastated to hear about

45:31 this where their whole solution is an h264 encoder on a

45:36 card if every GeForce GPU out there is

45:39 all of a sudden capable of doing what that card does a big thing for a media

45:43 though is Tak from console conso console you're right I realized that I was yeah

45:48 console so there's that but their internal solution they're probably not

45:53 too excited about although you can still accept console with their internal like

45:58 I don't know but still yeah it'll it'll probably do a hit they probably won't

46:01 enjoy it I don't think it'll kill them yeah so the I okay so the the Starcraft

46:05 guys might not care but all of a sudden all of a sudden there will be a compelling reason to buy a GeForce GPU

46:10 Beyond just how many FPS you get in Game X or Y because while GeForce experience

46:16 is cool yeah so that's out of beta now so it gives you suggested settings for

46:20 your games and make sure your drivers are always up to date carry on while it's cool I do know a lot of people do

46:30 personally prefer to change my own settings and I personally prefer to

46:33 download my own driver because sometimes newer drivers don't improve things yeah

46:40 not yours or a lot of games but not the one you play those kinds of things so I

46:54 50% more battery life in haswell-based

46:57 laptops so it's no secret that Haswell isn't going to bring a huge like

47:02 game-changing performance shift on the desktop this is not a conro um because a

47:08 lot of the optimizations are going to be in terms of power efficiency and in

47:12 terms of delivering a better gaming experience on the entry level as well as

47:18 a better graphics experience a better better performance for things that are

47:23 compute driven that use the graphics core such as Intel's Quicks sync Tech

47:26 technology that allows you to uh use the GPU to transcode Media much faster so

47:31 things like that so they're looking to deliver a better overall experience not

47:35 necessarily like oh let's throw more IPC

47:39 at the uh at the problem on the the CPU

47:42 side itself so with 50% what would you do with 50% more battery life in your

47:47 laptop right uh more laptop stuff what what I

47:53 think the main thing is going to affect is Ultrabook

47:57 yeah Mass longevity so if you're in school for 8 hours yes that's going to

48:01 be a huge hit if you game on your laptop but can't always have it plugged in huge

48:06 hit because I know a lot of people that have nice gaming laptops and they're like yeah uh but when I'm gaming it

48:11 lasts for 45 minutes on the other hand haswell's perform haswell's power

48:15 efficiency isn't going to affect how much juice that 68m is drawing that's

48:18 true so you might see if you're going to see help though so I think when Intel

48:23 quotes something like this they're talking integrated GP power draw yeah

48:27 yeah they're talking what can be achieved if you don't have a bunch actually that's one of the things I have

48:31 how I wanted to discuss this is It's not like this is going to be the Beall and

48:35 endall of your laptop that has 4H hour battery life now has 6 hours okay still

48:40 though you can still play a lot of games on laptops that don't have that's true

48:44 especially given that Intel is also claiming this is also in my notes two

48:48 times the performance of IV bridge on notebooks and up to three times on a

48:53 desktop with the new Haswell built-in igpu yeah yes so the way that I see this

49:00 shaping shaping up is okay so this Ultra

49:03 Book is actually I think technically not an Ultrabook because it doesn't meet the

49:07 battery life requirements to be called an Ultrabook if I recall correctly so

49:10 that's why it ships with this extended battery because it only gets about 4

49:13 hours of battery life without the extended battery if this thing got 6

49:17 hours of battery life this is the device Intel's talking about a super slim

49:22 tablet or Ultra Book style notebook or or a convertible that's running Intel

49:28 Hardware Intel L Intel CPU Intel GPU all

49:31 those things they're saying okay yes we can deliver up to 50% more battery life

49:35 with it if this thing got six hours I wouldn't need the extended battery pack

49:39 anymore and so I'm extremely excited not only that but hasell will offer better

49:46 cool um Haswell is also going to get a lot closer to what tablets um what

49:53 existing tablet architectures are able to deliver so the lowest uh Power draw

62:56 created the iPhone honestly we're nowhere near something like this being

63:00 actually practical when the when the delay between the camera and the

63:05 processing and the actual image on the screen is near instantaneous something

63:08 like that could be really cool but yeah we're actually not that close right now

63:42 cons up to Pros I've moved things out completely I've added in my own stuff

63:46 that I found out say an anex Hardware review by the way check out a nantex

63:51 hardware review of Xbox one versus PS4 it's very interesting Xbox One is doing

63:55 some crazy stuff with a caching possibly a caching solution uh PS4 just went raw

64:00 power um I don't think anyone's really going to know the performance difference

64:04 until it's actually released because you can't just go a hardware is better than

64:08 b Hardware because yes we see that a little bit PlayStation's Hardware is

64:12 better than Xbox One's Hardware but then Xbox One is doing that weird caching

64:15 solution that I was talking about before which might not even be a caching solution um it might be a frame buffer

64:20 or something I'm not entirely sure

64:23 but again PlayStation 4 will have better Hardware but it's just how different is

64:28 it so some of the notable pros and cons

64:32 just to jump through here pretty quick is Xbox one will have um feedback on

64:39 their triggers I find that very cool I don't like the I don't know what it's

64:42 actually called but completely free flowing triggers where there's no

64:45 feedback at all I'm not a huge fan of that um constant low power State um very

64:52 fast wake up but it's forced and it's always monitoring this is in both pros

64:56 and cons I'm reading through Pros right now by the way um Pros because your Xbox

65:00 can wake up really fast and start doing what you want it to cons because it's

65:05 kind of always on it's not really a wake up at that point it's literally always

65:09 on it's always monitoring which we will get into later I'm sure lonus will want

65:12 to discuss that a little bit controller seems quite similar again I got the

65:17 basis of this pros and cons list from redhead I'm not this is not my pros and

65:20 cons I added stuff like I said and changed a little bit but this was someone else's I should have cited his

65:24 name but I don't remember it maybe I'll tweet it out later or something if I can

65:28 go grab it um the controller is mostly the same except has a vastly improved

65:32 d-pad I'm very happy to see this because if you guys have watched the Afterparty

65:37 live stream I don't like the d-pad at all it's way too easy to PR press other

65:42 directions without realizing it it's not very defined which is I'm happy they're

65:47 improving that that's why earlier when I said I'm excited for the controller so I

65:50 can plug it into my computer I was actually very serious I will very

65:54 possibly go out and buy one of these controllers even though I'm probably not

65:58 going to buy an Xbox one I'm not going to buy an Xbox one because of this pro

66:01 and con list I had no intention of buying a new console and if I was going

66:05 to it would probably be a Wii U because of the games okay

67:48 as well talk about that so Microsoft has a patent that they just filed for that

67:52 will allow them to use that technology to see how many people are in in the

67:55 room and it looks like create a way for you cuz I mean

68:01 okay so we talked about a lot about content and video streaming earlier on in the

68:04 Stream what if they could charge you per

68:08 set of eyeballs that's actually watching the stream oh my goodness that takes

68:12 away the whole pay-per-view idea of just getting one pay like say you want to

68:17 watch a hockey game that's pay-per-view one dude buys it everyone orders a pizza

68:21 and goes over to that guy's house that completely destroys that yes you might

68:25 still do it because you want to hang out with your buddies but I mean at what point do we end up in an arms race never

68:30 mind pirating content versus paying for Content now we're talking not paying as

68:36 much as they want for the content so are we going to end up in an arms race where

68:40 people okay so first Microsoft's going to be able to detect how many bodies in

68:43 the room and it's not just Microsoft I mean if they if they're patenting the

68:47 technology that doesn't mean they don't plan to license it to someone else or whatever else so find some way to rip it

68:51 off first it's finding out how many bodies are in the room then people

68:55 compens by like I don't know um you know they make couches that your body like

68:59 melds into then they're going to figure out how many to track how many eyes are

69:02 in the room then people figure out glasses that block them and then really

69:06 is that the path we're going to go down well we kind of already are just not

69:10 physical objects it's been an arms race to to hide things and be non-detected it

69:16 always will be 100% but I mean come on it's one thing if you go to a movie theater where you're basically renting

69:21 the space and that was expensive I mean

69:24 they they had to build that building okay

69:28 movie theaters need to make money totally get it but when we're talking

70:34 some cases you could be like oh well that's good it's also terrible for

70:39 falsely accused people I don't want to camera in my house where you can see me

70:42 all the time that's ridiculous that's not cool at all um

70:48 because yeah it might help find someone's false Alibi it might also help

70:53 find a lot of other things that you don't need to find um Microsoft will not

70:59 allow Indie devs to self-publish H which knowing how fast

71:04 things can go if it has to go through a bureaucracy could hurt Indie devs a lot

71:09 because if you're delaying your releases that's not good that's great for the

71:12 PC a lot of this is great for the PC that's great for the PC I I you know

71:17 what that's the best news I've heard as a PC Gamer all day because Indie is what

71:21 is driving PC gaming in a big way right now because it is not the AAA titles and

71:26 it is not the big game devs that are really driving the PC forward as a

71:30 platform it's games like Hawkin that are getting people excited and wanting to

71:34 play games on a PC again oh yeah um so

71:37 you know what you know what Microsoft that's how you want to be about it then

71:42 yeah that's fine thanks for bringing people to your other platform I guess

71:45 yeah I guess than yeah um mind you if Gabe n has his way then it won't

71:49 necessarily be a Microsoft operating system on the PC that's

71:53 true um XBox one only has 5 GB of RAM

72:00 seven I believe PS4 has seven they both

72:06 have 8 GB of RAM PS4 has seven available to developers Xbox one has five a big

72:11 part of this could be due to the fact that Microsoft is running three operating systems on the computer an

72:17 anex article about the the architecture of the CPU GPU of the processors in

72:22 these upcoming consoles was really interesting because even though octacore

72:26 so they have eight cores something to bear in mind guys is not all cores are

72:29 created equally I had someone telling me you couldn't build a PC as powerful as

72:33 an Xbox One for 500 bucks or whatever it'll launch at because it has an eight

72:37 core CPU so what it has an eight core CPU so does a Samsung phone that doesn't

72:42 mean that 8 core CPU comes anywhere near the performance of a 3570k which is a

72:48 quad core um it's not it's not about how many cor so anyway they they look at

72:52 into the architecture talked a little bit about how it's two four core modules

72:58 and what may end up happening on the Xbox 360 and this is all speculation is

73:02 that because so you have to segment the resources if you're going to have multiple os's you're going to have um

73:07 Windows running you're going to have Xbox running and you're going to have sort of something Bridging the Gap

73:13 um and if you if you have to if you have to split these resources the only way to

73:18 split them cleanly maybe to split them by module which might mean that the Xbox

73:23 One actually has sign significantly less

73:26 processing power available to it than the PS4 which doesn't have to run this

73:31 uh modified hyperv virtualization environment no one will really know I

73:35 was talking about this earlier too with with um with Xbox One's like maybe

73:39 caching maybe frame buffering maybe whatever solution that they're also

73:42 adding in that the PS4 doesn't have with all these other things thrown into the

73:46 fight it's really interesting um just to throw this out there about the not as

73:50 fast cores to put into perspective Xbox 360 had a three cor six thread solution

73:56 at 3.2 GHz Xbox one has a eight cores 8

74:01 thread solution at 1.6 GH so just to throw that out there um

74:06 they're it's not about how many cores and it's not about the frequency you got

74:10 to just wait until to actual performance we're going to have to get the consoles

74:14 before we actually know what's going to happen uh they're both running AMD

74:17 Jaguars what sort of you know Xbox One's

74:21 going to be slower yeah you know but it's the scale that I'm talking about how much of a difference there actually

74:24 is I brought this up earlier when you weren't actually in the room um

74:30 so Xbox one will be running 8 gabt of 21

74:33 33 MHz DDR3 PlayStation 4 will be

74:36 running eight I mean 8 gig did I say 8 gigabytes yeah okay 8 gigabytes of 5,500

74:42 mahz gddr5 which is a bit of a weird choice

74:46 because the latencies are higher it's as far as I know going to be

74:51 weirder to Dev but you look at the direction AMD is heading where they want

74:54 to make this CPU and the GPU much more integrated is there any reason I mean if

74:58 that where they're heading even on the desktop where we could use gddr5

75:02 memory it's just as system memory it's supposed to be I was reading the anch

75:06 thing it's supposed to be a better solution in this case so maybe that's a

75:10 very good way of looking at one quick thing system memory bandwidth on Xbox

75:13 One is 68.3 GB per second system memory

75:16 bandwidth on PlayStation 4 is 176 right which for things like um

75:22 streaming your favorite episode of The Big Bang Theory um through through the

75:27 Xbox store or whatever else is not a factor but when it comes to loading in

75:31 game textures memory bandwidth is King

75:34 you need big memory buffers you need big memory bandwidth in order to make that

75:39 um in order to have the best possible experience with that so um I don't know

75:44 how much you've talked about but I think maybe we'll let's see if uh we're my general

75:49 notes on it did you just rewrite them mm did we talk about how backwards compatibility is dead no I haven't

75:54 talked about any of that kind of backwards compatibility is dead unbelievable PlayStation 4 is but there

75:58 are dogs there's there's definitely dogs

76:01 um PlayStation 4 is apparently trying to mess around with some emulation or

76:06 emulation server thing something going on so they're trying to find a solution

76:10 as far as I know Xbox one as of now is not trying to find a solution but it's

76:14 funny because everyone else kind of gets it you look at what Sony's doing where

76:18 on their tablets for example they come PlayStation enabled certain tablets so

76:23 you can play PS1 games how cool is that y making I mean if it's all about the

76:27 content if it's all about the game Library leverage the game library with

76:32 that said I've seen people saying well when's the last time you fired up an Xbox One

76:36 game to which I would kind of go

76:41 okay okay uh actually uh week and a half

76:44 ago okay fine okay well there you go I don't apply to most of those things

76:48 though um but at the same time this brings out the other card and the sales

76:53 boosts that happened to it we wi U backwards compatible right right Wii U backwards

76:58 compatible so these two are not but Wii U is still fighting and now it's funny

77:06 of looks like a betamax player yeah but honestly I don't mind that much because

77:36 but if they're not going to build in backwards compatibility I still have to

77:49 only helps if I at the same time I don't think they've talked about it and they

77:57 talked about themselves doing so they could come up with some form of emulation I mean it's running a very

78:07 emulation and then just sell you download packs like would not be

78:11 difficult at all and wasn't there rumors about some add-on thing for Xbox one

78:16 there was a rumor about that where it would basically contain all the hardware we haven't heard anything about it

78:20 another thing is the games a lot of people bring up this has been a huge

78:23 topic as far as I've seen on Reddit and a whole bunch of other forums is like oh

78:28 they didn't talk about games very much blah blah I didn't talk about games there wasn't a ton about games yes but

78:33 E3 is coming up they will talk about games it'll happen I'm not that worried

78:48 put it in perspective honestly I wasn't as disappointed with the Microsoft uh

79:36 the new Xbox controller for Steam Big Picture goes back to your thing it's

79:39 like thank you Microsoft for bringing us a new controller to use on our computer

79:43 I'm actually really excited about it looks really nice and the um feedback

79:46 triggers very cool they they're not just free flowing anymore although I don't

79:50 know what that's actually called but when the trigger just goes all the way down without any feedback

79:55 oh yeah so feedback triggers oh okay yeah the new controllers will have

79:58 feedback triggers which is very nice PS4 controllers have a touchcreen whether or

80:02 not you like that I'm not entirely sure and I think they're slightly bigger

80:05 which I actually like um because I think standard dual shocks are too small

80:10 personally um so I think the only major differences on the new dual shock is a

80:14 touchcreen in the middle and it's slightly bigger what they do with that

80:17 touchcreen could be okay or it could be totally dumb or it could be totally dumb

80:21 but if you can like wake up your Machine

80:25 by like a swipe sure I mean if you wanted you could also buy yourself a

80:29 Microsoft tablet and you could run Smart Glass and then you could have a touch

80:33 screen that shows you the map of whatever racing game you're playing or

80:36 whatever else I mean I don't I mean that's the kind of functionality I see

80:40 like like on a mini map or something like that and you know you know from monitors I don't really like touch

80:44 screens I'd rather have a physical button but I'm just trying to find a

80:48 good if it's handheld I think it's it would be crazy for it to not be a

80:51 touchcreen the controller

80:59 screen on it right yeah so if if anything handheld I think it's crazy to

81:52 DLC that's just like saying they'll have release day

81:57 DLC yeah so you can download DLC on the

82:00 day that you buy your game which by the way Microsoft and EA already

82:08 exists yeah here we go see we can't even

82:11 manage to it's like too much confusion because of EA different

82:21 timing anyways having to install games on the a console have you covered that

82:25 at all nope so having to install them um having unlock codes uh and it only has

82:31 what is it a 500 GB hard drive I know which like yeah okay part of that's

82:35 taken up by whatever shows you want to watch if they download to your machine

82:39 I'm not entirely sure if that's possible part of that's taken up by the OS part

82:42 of that's taken up by the fact that gibby bite I had a hilarious call I was

82:47 on a conference call with one of the hard drive makers and I was like how did

82:51 you guys let this happen yeah seriously like I mean it's not like the Xbox one

82:56 is so small they couldn't put a 3 and a half inch hard drive we have 4 terab 3

82:59 and a half inch hard drives why isn't Microsoft allowing you to have multiple

83:03 hard drives why doesn't I mean have you seen seates nazes that have those you

83:07 know how you have 2 and2 in drives where that has like a slot loading Drive bring

83:11 back memory cards then I don't care but make them hard drive cartridges 250 GB

83:15 memory cards fine but come on 500 gigs

83:20 and that's all you need and you have to install every game due to like stuff

83:24 like Humble Bundle and Steam summer sale my games drive on my computer is like

83:30 900 gigs and it is not like a casual sit

83:35 down and play experience when you have to download a game before you play it uh

83:39 that's another thing um I I think with Xbox one you can play games while you're

83:43 downloading another game uh with PS4 you

83:46 can play that game as long as it's downloaded enough kind of how blizzard

83:50 does MHM uh I know a few other game companies do as well I'm just blizzard

83:53 is a pretty good example sample because they do it with Starcraft and uh wow but

83:57 if you're if you're done a percentage of the game you can start playing it might not be the best experience might not be

84:01 the whole game but you can play a bit that's kind of cool another thing PS

84:06 PlayStation is making it mandatory for every game to have a

84:10 demo which is awesome and I actually

84:13 think that this will I've never been much of a Sony Fanboy but this is making

84:18 it happen yeah a little bit um I think

84:21 this will make it better for their PR stance because gamers are going to go

84:26 like yes I get demos for everything right that's awesome um but then at the

84:32 same time it's great for Sony because I

84:35 know a ton of people pirate games just cuz they want to figure out if they like

84:39 it or not yep so now I know people who legitimately do it they pirate it and

84:43 then they actually legitimately buy it they have the box on the Shelf with

84:47 they've never opened yep because they want to support the Game Dev but they

84:52 want to support the Game Dev assuming that the game is good the game and a

84:55 trailer is not enough trailers are stupid trailers like sure they build

99:44 sampling from 6K to 4K or from 6K to 1080p you would be getting even more of

99:48 that the next up is cropping you would be able to do all the zooming and

99:54 panning that you want with a shot with a
