0:01 all right we're live and uh we were in here kind of pumping ourselves up
0:05 pre-show I don't know if you guys heard that but we're like are you ready to
0:08 rock and then some chick Drives By and
0:12 she's like yelling out her car window I don't know if she was replying to us not
0:16 but that was pretty awesome timing either way the timing was most
0:19 exceptional really good yeah so she might have been which was fantastic
0:23 anyways what do we got going on we have a great show for you guys today and we
0:27 are just we are both burning to talk about what's going on with csgo like
0:32 multiple times leading up to the show in spite of the fact that we've barely seen
0:36 each other today we've like started talking about it and then we have to we
0:39 have to like give ourselves disciplinary stop stop no no save it for the show
0:43 save it for the show so we're going to talk about what's going on at dream hack
0:46 right now team fanatic and csgo um also Ubisoft has taken a small break from
0:51 digging at least on Assassin's Creed Unity they might be following up with
0:55 some more digging with their other franchises but we got to give them
1:00 credit where credit is due and when they do the right things if we're going to
1:04 like if we're going to REM on them for doing the wrong things then we have to congratulate them for doing the right
1:08 things um what else we got today uh Azo
1:12 has an x99 board coming out which has two 10 G Nicks and two gigabit Nicks
1:16 which is insanity I have two Nicks as
1:20 well there are two people named Nick who work here yes what else we got I was
1:27 trying to find more Nick jokes it is not December yet so well as long as you you
1:34 know use an older joke it might have a couple Nicks in it
1:38 oh yes okay Nintendo also files patents
1:42 for Game Boy emulation finally and that's I think mainly on uh Android I
1:48 think but anyways we'll talk more about that later all right we've got a couple
1:51 of people complaining that there's no sound but then we've got other people
1:55 enjoying the Nick joke so you're going to want to refresh your stream there
2:02 oh wow epic fail there we go well
2:05 there's a hint as to who's the one of the sponsors today Derpy
2:10 derp I love this show it's kind of
2:13 fantastic cuz when it breaks it's
2:17 better we like that you know that like Japanese art of fixing things with that
2:21 the golden fill no I can't remember what it's
2:25 called but like if a cup breaks they'll fix it with a golden fill and it's suppos to look even more beautiful so as
2:29 the when show breaks we make it even better so our sponsors today are 54 Club
2:35 making things better by making them worse one sponsorship deal at a
2:40 time and Squarespace where they actually
2:43 do try to make things better they both try to make things better 54 tries to
2:47 make you look better Squarespace tries to make your website look better in between the both of them you should have
2:51 a more professional Personal Image I salvaged
2:55 it well while we're wearing Christmas wear yay Christmas
3:01 everyone oh did you see the fan art of the of the Christmas shark so good that
3:06 was so awesome I tweeted it out earlier this week all right no I now I'm going
3:11 to we're going to have to have a little bit of discipline Let's do let's do
3:16 Ubisoft first okay so hold on let's just find the let's find the unity topic here
3:22 oh that brought up opportunity uh okay so this was posted
3:27 by Raph banan on the for the original
3:30 Source isst Link in chat I'm sorry post a link in chat ah yeah that's right wait
3:35 do you want to do those uh you need to I need to there's reasons there's new
3:40 functionality added because reasons we'll try to fix that for next week good
3:43 enough for me because reasons is good enough all right so there's the link to
3:48 the thread on lestech tips.com and the
3:51 the basic premise here is and I'm even going to remember to screen share with
3:55 you guys this week I'm going to be okay well the page isn't really loading but
3:58 the awesomeness all right so there there you go wait I don't usually load the
4:03 lineus tech tips Forum page that's right I usually load the source link yeah I
4:07 know um okay so assassin's creed. ub.com the head of the game Studio behind
4:11 Assassin's Creed Unity has emailed players apologizing for bugs in the
4:15 video game yep and offering them free
4:19 content which is pretty cool I know a lot of people were talking about how um
4:25 they should have I can't even find this topic I read it but I can't see it in
4:29 there anyways no worries I know what's going on I know a lot of people were
4:32 actually talking about how they wanted a recall on the game entirely stupid that
4:36 was a stupid article and no one recalls a video game the only reason you would
4:40 recall anything is if there's like a a
4:44 safety hazard or it doesn't even do what
4:48 it said it did it's still an Assassin's Creed game yeah it doesn't run very well
4:51 but that's more of a yo dog you probably
4:54 shouldn't pre-order our stuff anymore type situation than a recall situ how do
4:58 you even recall it's like recalling a movie well yeah
5:03 that's a good point CU you could have already possibly had the experience um
5:06 but then you could recall a car after someone's driven it for a long time
5:10 that's true but you wouldn't give them a brand new car I don't even know you
5:15 wouldn't give them their money back you fix it okay that's how a car recall
5:18 Works a patch is basically how a car recall works so they already recalled it
5:23 if they're patching it you know what that's kind of funny what about the ev1
5:27 if we made game developer call their
5:30 patches recall notices well okay I don't think that's
5:35 fair because some patches could be like adding features
5:40 not fixing things so that could be an expansion pack or a DLC but it's but if
5:46 it's a bug fix they have to call it a recall notice they might not they might
5:52 but they're taking it from you that's
5:55 true they're not recalling it that's true so and since okay anyway case so
6:00 recall is dumb um basically anyone who bought Assassin's Creed Unity will get a
6:05 free copy of dead King's DLC which is
6:08 pretty cool and I believe it's people who bought the season pass are eligible
6:14 for a free Ubisoft game so you can pick from uh Raymond raving R raving rabbits
6:20 I'm going to completely stop you because you're already wrong uh the crew Far Cry
6:23 4 Watch Dogs Assassin's Creed Black Flag Raymond Legends you never let me have
6:27 fun Just Dance 15 I was going to come up with stuff like Prince of Persia Sans of
6:32 time no it's actual like good games like
6:36 even games that aren't even out yet so you can get a copy of the crew mind you
6:41 mind you the crew might just be setting yourself up for disappointment again
6:45 although we'll we'll get into that topic next so I mean I I don't know what else
6:49 there is to really say about this kudos to Ubisoft happy they addressed it the
6:53 season pass will be discontinued they it's not like they've completely learned
6:57 their lesson they didn't come out and say we aren't do seasons passes anymore
7:01 we're going to deliver all the content we can at launch and then if an expansion pack happens it happens and
7:05 it'll be an expansion pack not a nickel and diing you for every little thing DLC
7:10 I'm okay with the expansion packs I'm even okay with when they're like yeah
7:13 we're going to finish the game at this date and then we're going to work on one
7:16 and it'll be ready when it's ready probably a year from now but when
7:19 they're fixing like in-game currency to buy you know treasure chests and crap
7:25 and open chests versus having the game actually like eyeball floating around in
7:30 the air like having a big part of the game be like oh yeah you need to be
7:35 online so you can open these chests and then being like Oh yeah you're having performance issues just go offline I
7:40 just shut her down what yeah I did we even cover the thing where they wanted I
7:44 think it was PS4 players to delete their friends list what or something like that
7:49 oh crap I can't remember I kind of ignore conoly so I don't know yeah uh
7:54 that's kind of funny okay do you want to move into the crew the crew so yeah so
7:58 hold on by the way there's two days left in the keep on digging shirt campaign
8:02 I'm not wearing the right shirt but this is also Highlander so it's a lus techtip
8:07 shirt so you've got that much right yeah 50% did I pass keep on digging shirts
8:12 are still available at uh teespring.com keep on digging with no G uh those are
8:18 going to be available for another couple days um I wor mine to the gymm and I
8:22 think people thought it was like a a workout thing really yeah I actually had
8:25 quite a few people like reading my shirt I don't know that's totally off topic but anyways um um so the crew will not
8:30 be given to reviewers before its a release date Ubisoft is claiming that
8:33 this is because the crew is supposed to be a very large expansive World
8:38 experience with a lot of other players in it and reviewers wouldn't have been
8:41 able to experience that whole dynamic ecosystem therefore rendering it invalid
8:46 and I get that it's kind of like if you weren't going to provide like okay okay
8:51 well hold on there's flaws in the logic but just can you bear with me for I'm
8:54 I'm I'm I'm nodding cuz I'm with you for now you were going to jump on me I was
8:57 going to add stuff actually you were going to jump on me what for what I was about to say so for me it would be about
9:03 like um not providing reviewer copies of
9:07 wow like original that's actually exactly what I was going to add okay okay but but then that would be stupid
9:12 because if you hadn't provided reviewers copies of wow that would because they
9:17 couldn't experience an MMO the way that it's meant to be experienced with other
9:20 players that would basically mean that you didn't test it at all which leads us
9:24 to the next part where they see where they say that the Ubisoft The Crew
9:30 release will be smooth the the the I
9:33 believe it was one of the lead de lead designer says he's confident that it will go smoothly reason being we've
9:39 reaped the benefits of a lawn beta program with thousands of players all
9:43 over the world playing the game at the
9:46 same time why exactly weren't reviewers able to get this game was it because
9:50 there weren't thousands of players all over the world being able to play with them oh it seems like you solved that
9:55 problem give reviewers the damn game what are you doing
10:00 God and like wow had an open Beta yeah I
10:04 know pretty sure reviewer could have jumped in the open Beta that solves that
10:07 problem I I left that off until we got to this part because the whole thousands
10:10 of players thing like yeah they solved that problem tons of but like every MMO
10:15 that I really know of is had an open Beta at some point if they've closed the
10:18 beta down by now then arguably yes
10:22 there's no one on the servers but then you could also say well hold on a second
10:25 why don't they just leave the beta users
10:29 in there until lunch it's not like other games haven't done this before or even
10:32 send all your beta users a message and be like oh did you want to keep playing
10:35 the game we're opening the servers again for 72 hours for whatever and then just
10:40 don't tell them oh by the way there's also going to be reviewers on the servers who cares it doesn't matter so
10:44 then you know you've got your your reviewers running around there's a bunch
10:47 of people who've been playing the game for a while so they so they get to have
10:51 that experience whereas reviewers actually that's another really good
10:56 point that I just made um whereas reviewers are going to be jumping into
10:59 it with a whole bunch of noobs all over the place which might actually
11:03 negatively affect the gameplay experience so if you have that long-term
11:06 beta group that can kind of lead people around and get people in on missions and
11:10 stuff that might be more helpful UB should be watching because that's a
11:13 perfect idea you take your beta you end it four weeks before launch or whatever
11:17 then you open up like a 72-hour period when you hand out the reviewer keys so
11:22 that everyone who's been starved for it for the last few weeks gets to jump in
11:26 and the world is nice and active with people who know what they're doing
11:30 ah you know if you want to surrender like your business practices division to
11:33 lus Media Group I'm sure we can handle that that'd be totally fine stop making
11:38 games that suck common sense and logic anyways uh so those were posted by
11:44 I ort Master race on the Forum the original article there was from
11:47 digitalspy.com for the crew not being given to reviewers before release and
11:52 then for the crew uh Ubisoft is sure
11:55 that the crew launch will be smooth uh the original article there was was from
11:59 pcgamer.com and that was posted on the Forum by Master
12:05 disaster yeah okay so can we please yeah
12:08 yeah let's let's do it let's do it let's do it all right let me scroll all the way down this is the main event today my
12:14 friends um hold on let me just I'm just
12:18 I know right this is unbelievable so I'm
12:21 just going to bring up uh okay whatever the source that I have for it right now
12:25 is basically a Reddit thread with people talking about it so I'll just fire this
12:28 up but dream hack Winter 2014 fanatic
12:32 uses boost against ldlc so let's go ahead and fire this up
12:37 this was originally posted on the Forum by uh oh crap I forgot to put down the
12:42 uh the op here but I think that's
12:46 important giving people credit for contributing to the news section of Linus Tech tips.com uh here's the Reddit
12:51 discussion right here um warning this thread contains spoilers
12:56 oh okay I guess spoiler alert if you follow Esports events um yeah that's a
13:03 good call spoiler alert don't miss for this part I guess although it's like
13:06 literally everywhere so good luck okay so here do you want to so ldlc and
13:11 fanatic are teams one and two they played the first game ldlc won they
13:15 played the second game fanatic uh fanatic one and to give you a little bit
13:19 of History a few fanatic players have been kind of pointed at pretty heavily
13:23 in this recent hacking Point people out game that's been going on and a few of
13:27 them have quite a bit of public evidence against them yeah um what's his face
13:33 there was a there was a good compilation of of gifs yeah GI for um I still say
13:40 GIF yeah I know I'll find it I'll find it goad
13:45 going keep going the third game was on map Dore overpass pretty interesting map
13:50 and a map that valve has asked their competitive teams to help them in terms
13:54 of tuning and fixing anything things that should be balanced or fixed on map
14:00 anyways uh the game was going 12 to3 at
14:04 halftime ldlc was essentially wrecking fanatic uh which is that's fine um but
14:10 yeah 12 to3 at halftime and in the second half fnatic was on the CT side
14:14 that's counter ter side a boost at the a bomb site was found where if they use a
14:20 couple players to kind of stack on top of each other they can get up on top of
14:23 something by pixel walking a little bit I think they were pixel pixel walking a
14:27 little bit all this is a little bit early on so they could see the three main pathways on the map from this kind
14:32 of Perch Way on the back and they could use a sniper it's not like they could
14:36 just see them they could use a sniper to shoot people from there um and actually
14:40 kill them from extremely far away from a position that you should not be able to
14:43 see and or kill those people from yeah there's a screenshot on the lonus tech
14:47 tips Forum of the like the the developer view of the map where you can see where
14:52 the oh that's interesting um where you
14:56 can see that the areas that they're walking on are not supposed to be areas
15:00 where you can walk and basically the the reason for that is that you'll you'll
15:04 tend to curve surfaces so you can end up with stray pixels that can be that can
15:09 be stood on um even though that's not the way that that surface was intended
15:13 to be used so it's it actually clearly states in the dream hack rules that
15:17 pixel walking is not permitted although
15:21 I don't believe an official judgment has been passed down yet um because they're
15:25 going to be reviewing it and they have committed to do something uh by the end
15:30 of today um but honestly with with all
15:34 the Poo flying around right now over
15:38 cheating in csgo um with I mean we talked about this on the show last week
15:42 but with with hacks as blatant as
15:45 pressing a button and then zeroing in on the head of the nearest enemy uh being
15:51 used and you know there's a lot of denial about whether it's been used in
15:55 competitive play or not but there's also evidence stacking up against
16:07 way more scrutiny than they otherwise would have been under and even if even
16:12 if the I'm going to go ahead I'm going to call it a cheat because there is just
16:17 no way even if the cheat gets allowed
16:20 here we go we've got an imager screenshot of the dream hack rules pixel
16:24 walking is illegal even if they end up getting away with this the community is
16:28 going to hate them for doing this and
16:31 like this is this is stupid most like uh we've talked a lot about how like it's
16:35 very specifically Esports it's not Sports BL um that's something lus likes
16:40 to bring up all the time uh but something notable about that whole idea
16:45 is that basically all the sports I've ever
16:48 played have pretty aggressive Sportsman
16:52 sportsmanship uh like rules guidelines
16:55 you can get in trouble you can get put in penalty boxes you can be kicked out
16:59 of games you can be kicked out of leagues for Sportsman like conduct you can get like big fines $10,000 much tens
17:05 of thousands of dollar fines for doing unsportsmanlike things in a game and
17:10 this is one of the least sportsmanlike things you could ever do I would almost
17:14 argue that in a fit of rage mid-match swinging out at someone is almost not
17:19 the same as this cuz this wasn't one round this wasn't right after you got
17:23 nailed by some dude this was for the
17:27 rest of the match it was 12 the three they ended up winning what was it 16 uh
17:33 1613 so the other team got one more game one more match after they started using
17:37 this and I believe that match was pistol round before they were able to buy a
17:40 scout on the second round so that they could start sniping from that position
17:44 and then they won everything I think that's how it went I didn't actually see it so for people who don't pay much
17:48 attention to Competitive Gaming like when you're just in a pub um you can see
17:52 a kill cam a lot of the time so yeah sorry uh yeah like just a public random
17:56 match on the internet you can see a killcam and you can see where guys hit
17:59 you from and you can even spectate the other team a lot of the time not the
18:02 case here so until they could go back
18:07 and watch the match replay or figure out where this guy was in a place where
18:11 where he should not have been they had no way of discovering
18:17 um where they were getting hit from even yeah there there was there was a lot of
18:23 confusion trying to figure out where they were getting hit from guys were
18:26 dying and then guys were kind of looking around going like where the heck could
18:29 we have possibly just been shot from and then that guy was dying uh it was a mess
18:34 I think there might have only been one pathway that they could have possibly
18:37 gone that wasn't under vision of this sniper and eventually that sniper got an
18:41 auto sniper so it was just mowing people down and then they could just
18:45 essentially win everything because if there's only one path that they could
18:48 possibly come be coming from in Counter Strike you're you're going to win like I
18:52 don't know absolutely ridiculous completely pathetic insanely
18:57 disrespectful um I have I I don't care about that team at
19:02 all everyone on that team should just be kicked
19:05 out I don't know that's absolutely ridiculous I hope dream hack solves this
19:10 properly I hope valve solves this properly there should be sportsmanlike
19:13 conduct rules um there's rules against
19:16 what they just did so hopefully they figure it out um I kind of hope that
19:21 they were pixel walking just so that everything is no matter what
19:24 invalidated uh yeah I used to watch
19:27 Counter-Strike a little bit I probably won't ever watch it again
19:31 after the the last little bit that's been going on Shooters in general are
19:35 quite notorious for people hacking in them Counter-Strike has always been on
19:38 the top of that list of people talking about games that people hack in so this
19:42 is just kind of ridiculous well I say I think top of that list is a little bit
19:46 aggressive what else would be I know something like cod
19:49 hacking maybe not in competitive play so
19:53 fair fair point
19:56 ah okay um well I don't know I guess what else is
20:01 there to say I wish I could find the
20:04 um I wish I could find what are you trying to
20:08 find the uh there's there's a the collection of GIFs that I was talking
20:12 about from fla oh yeah yeah yeah yeah
20:15 I'm sure Nick would be able to send it to us yeah I was looking at it before
20:19 but basically it's just it's just like hilariously bad like you'll be looking
20:23 over here and the camera just it does like it doesn't reload and then snaps
20:29 and and then smooth movement again and then he and then you can tell he moves
20:33 his Mouse to where the guy's going to come around the corners it's just just
20:37 unbelievable and like how some of this stuff is working is you'd be able to see
20:41 at a land oh my
20:44 goodness hello truck you'd be able to see at a land if
20:49 someone was using a wall hack where they could see through the wall so a lot of times it just puts your mouse cursor
20:53 there um so one thing that I noticed even in watching one of these uh Gifts
20:59 of fla was he was going smoothly across
21:02 and then his cursor snapped onto someone's head and then he went smoothly
21:05 across again and then came around the corner and shot at where the guy was but
21:10 by the time he had moved around the corner that guy had happened to move so he shot exactly where the dude's head
21:14 was previously but he had moved and I'm like
21:18 dude what the hell like he pre-fired
21:21 around the corner and missed right um very possibly um all right so let's go
21:28 ahead and move on to our next topic I I just I okay I guess sorry one last word
21:34 um valve dream hack administrators you
21:38 have to do the right thing and the problem the problem with something like
21:42 this is that it's not just one player
21:46 deciding to go ahead and exploit
21:50 something this was a team decision U
21:53 their M their their coach after the match was asked about it the interviewer
21:57 basically paraphrase just kind of went I don't really know what to say like how
22:02 long have you guys known about this and he goes oh a couple of months um so
22:06 there's there's even more there's more controversy the person who discovered
22:10 this this exploit was actually posted a video on YouTube about it and claims
22:14 that fanatic told him to take the video down and then they've allegedly just
22:19 kind of had this in their back pocket and chose to pull it out at a quarter of
22:23 a million dollar tournament on a map that valve had asked people the Prof
22:29 to help them fix and help them tune up and there's been patches and updates to
22:33 that map and if they knew this glitch was there they probably would have fixed
22:37 it so this isn't a matter of like one player spitting on a referee you know
22:40 what I mean and an unsportsman this is an unsportsmanlike culture within this
22:46 organization and when you call it professional Esports professional
22:50 doesn't just mean that you get paid to do it there's a there's a connotation
22:55 that comes with the word professional that means I mean when I say
22:59 I'm a professional YouTuber that means I make money by being a YouTuber but if I
23:03 were to say that I want to behave like a
23:06 professional then there's a whole lot more that comes along with that the word
23:10 means so much more than just I I do this as a profession and you know seeing
23:15 seeing them you know congratulating each other on the successful execution of
23:19 this tactic means that this is just a
23:23 fundamental problem with this organization there's there's obviously
23:27 some diamonds in the rough people like Pasha P Pasha is awesome there's other
23:31 guys in the community that are awesome but there's just so much junk to sift
23:36 through to get to that and obviously like there might be a disproportionate
23:41 amount of good people in the organization but how much the guys that
23:45 are screwing around get attention makes them much a much larger group yeah so
23:49 here's a good look at it you guys I'll go ahead and zoom in so just to be clear
23:53 this is what pixel walking is so this is
23:56 obviously not a part of the map that is is intended to be stood on um this
24:01 guy right here has to jump on someone
24:04 else to get here and then he has to jump on top of him uh so he can basically see
24:11 the entire uh the entire I think that's
24:14 what four ways they can go and he can see three of them it's yeah yeah I think
24:17 it's I think that's what it was three main pathways on the map yeah kind of
24:23 ridiculous yeah pretty pretty embarrassing like how pissed and or
24:29 disappointed would you be if you were ldlc wrecking that whole match going 12
24:33 to3 at halftime like really really good setup for the next uh next team switch
24:39 and then just getting killed from nowhere for the entire rest of the match
24:42 just to come out of it and figure out that they were essentially glitching ridiculous all right so I
24:49 guess that's all to uh that's all to really say about it for
24:56 now yeah um are you still trying to find that
25:00 gift list yeah I would really like to find it that's incredibly frustrating
25:04 that I can't find it but uh but it's okay all right all right so let's move
25:08 on to the next thing a Nintendo patents Game Boy emulation so this was posted by
25:14 aing on the Forum and the original article here is from Pocket Gamer so
25:18 let's go ahead and fire that up
25:23 um there you go Pocket Gamer oh someone
25:26 posted the gift list right before I did that oh oh oh
25:31 terrible terrible um oh oh hold on maybe
25:36 we got it oh this isn't the one that I was looking at unfortunately that's not
25:39 as extensive right yeah no there was one I had that was crazy long one that was
25:43 awesome yeah yeah not the right one unfortunately okay so let's move on to
25:48 uh so what does what does apparently Nick has sent it to you apparently Nick
25:51 oh oh he has okay uh this better be the
25:56 right one Nick no that's the that's it's the same one I'm pretty sure there's one
26:00 that's longer than that but okay anyways all right yeah no no it's okay
26:05 it's okay it's okay let's move on let's move on okay so Nintendo patents
26:09 emulation on for their Game Boy systems original article here is from Pocket
26:13 Gamer I'll go ahead and share this on the screen so these are some
26:16 illustrations from Nintendo's patent for an emulator that runs on mobile phones
26:22 so there's an illustration of someone playing a game boy um okay there were
26:27 some more illustrations in the you can read a lot more details about like the
26:30 least helpful image patent thing I've ever seen yeah there we go so they've
26:34 got some more details about it so the idea is maybe we could see it integrated
26:38 into Airline seats uh we could see it
26:41 running on computers potentially on I
26:45 guess that's supposed to be a tablet it's like yes this is a 1990s
26:50 pocket PC that uh like palm palm like
26:56 black and white monochrome display thing for some reason someone's playing GES so
27:01 basically there's an example of an emulator architecture virtual core kead
27:05 emulation sound blah blah blah Etc I mean those of you who are familiar with
27:08 emulation will probably already have some idea how it works but the way that
27:12 it's never worked in the past is with
27:16 official sanctions from the original developers of the games now in some
27:20 cases they're just not really around
27:24 anymore in such a state that they would be able to that they would be able to
27:29 defend anything so you go back you know far enough things like Neo Geo or like
27:33 MIM emulators yeah but Nintendo on the
27:37 other hand has the resources and has the existing presence to take the emulation
27:44 communities um well really they're fun
27:47 away from them I guess if you it depends
27:50 on how they do this so if they just kind of go okay we're going to patent
27:54 emulation so that anyone creating an emulator for a Nintendo system is
28:00 infringing our patent and we can legally go after them and then they're just
28:03 going to sit on all those IPS and all those old games then that's just that's
28:08 a super doofy thing to do and they they need to go just get their heads out of
28:12 their butts if the intention is to patent it and then create an emulation
28:18 console and then sell the titles at a reasonable price then I have no problem
28:23 with them monetizing their old IP in
28:26 such a way and that was bound to happen eventually we've seen a little bit with
28:30 things like the Virtual Console on the Wii and on the Wii U whereas if we if we
28:34 saw them create more like cuz those Virtual Console games like just the
28:38 whole way they were doing that where they reporting them was just stupid yeah
28:43 when they could have just run an emulator in the first place and then
28:47 they don't have to report anything yeah yeah um so so yeah it depends on their
28:52 approach if they're going to wait and like remaster everything or whatever
28:56 else then that's super crappy because there's something to be said for those
28:59 retro experiences and you you can't buy
29:03 those retro games anymore unless you're ebaying it in which case the original
29:06 creator of the content isn't getting anything for it anyway yeah and there's
29:10 that whole there's that whole piracy argument which frankly I've talked about
29:14 this before but I think is silly where it's not stealing if you don't actually
29:20 remove the object from the other person in order to have it for yourself um and
29:25 if you weren't going to buy it anyway then it doesn't represent a lot Revenue
29:28 opportunity for the person that you are whose content you are enjoying um that's
29:34 dumb but what isn't quite as dumb is if
29:38 that content creator is no longer providing that content in any usable way
29:42 to you well then what are you supposed to it's impossible to purchase if it's
29:46 not possible to purchase anymore
29:49 then like we're not talking about you know a limited edition Sennheiser orus
29:55 headphone where they make 2,000 of them and then they they're not available for
29:58 purchase anymore we're talking about something that is lines of code and
30:02 they're just opting not to sell it anymore and so they're the ones that are
30:07 ultimately predetermining that there is no Revenue opportunity to be had and
30:11 they're forcing piracy it's it's it's much the same way where I think there's a gray area even with things like movies
30:17 yes okay you can buy them used but there's no you're not but not even just
30:20 that you can buy them used for one but you're not taking away their revenue opportun probably in the Nintendo store
30:27 some stuff a lot of stuff not that much
30:30 I mean do you know how many games there are for Super Nintendo yeah but you know
30:33 how many games there are that no one is interested in playing at all on Super
30:37 Nintendo okay yes I'm just saying that in some cases it can be justified if
30:41 there's no way to obtain it legally it's in much the same way that in some
30:45 countries there are a lot of movies that you just can't obtain because there's no
30:48 licensing deals in place and it's like well come on what people are just
30:52 supposed to move so they can you
30:55 know watch uh
30:59 Song of Ice and Fire I can't remember what the stupid TV show's called Game of
31:03 Thrones remember what the book's called that's
31:07 funny wait isn't it Fire and Ice uh ice
31:10 and fire oh I said it wrong once I said
31:14 Fire and Ice in like an audible.com integration or something and I got torn
31:18 apart I didn't mess up mine yeah well
31:21 yes anyway um so I guess that's pretty
31:24 much oh yeah so so the big news here is there are popular ROM sites that are
31:28 already pulling all of their ROMs because ROMs have been a very legal gray
31:33 area up till now is it stealing if no
31:36 one is selling it I don't know who knows also I don't think anyone
31:42 was really pursuing it cuz they're not selling it anymore so that's
31:45 right interesting okay kim.com is now
31:49 free so the original article here is from kit Guru and the poster on the
31:53 lineus tech tips Forum was ful grim and I don't know I don't know how closely
31:57 you've been paying attention to the whole kim.com thing I can't find any of
32:01 the topics but thank God for control f um I a little bit not enough probably um
32:07 I know he's just frustrated and I've heard lately that he might have gone
32:11 bankrupt um well that's not a good do the bankruptcy I I think he declared
32:16 himself bankrupt his ex-wife now has control of the Family Trust And if
32:20 there's a trust I suspect that means the money is not exactly all gone um so then
32:25 he had to get a new lawyer something something something something something
32:28 anyway the point is um kim.com was one
32:32 of the founders of mega upload which was taken down crap I think it was back in
32:37 2012 Wikipedia has a pretty good history of the whole thing but the the the case
32:42 against him and they were trying to get him extradited from New Zealand to the
32:47 states for some reason and the whole thing's been just kind of a a mess I a
32:52 complete sham um but the the argument
32:56 against him was that he was responsible or and the sit's owners were responsible
33:01 for the um copyright infringing content that was uploaded to the site and then
33:05 downloaded and the arguments went something along the lines of because I mean obviously Mega uploads defense was
33:10 well hold on a second we didn't put it there and we comply with dmca takedown
33:14 notices but then the counterargument to that was well you guys actually have
33:18 Advanced Filtration in place for things like child pornography where it gets
33:22 taken down automatically every link to it gets taken down and the file gets
33:25 removed like you guys are actually taking this series iously whereas
33:29 copyrighted files um the way that the
33:32 dmca takedowns worked is all they had to remove was that link to it and then the
33:37 way that uploads to mega upload worked was that if you uploaded a duplicated
33:41 file then it would just say yo that file's already there so do you want to
33:44 just link to that one and then a file
33:48 could have many many many links to it so it created it created basically a
33:51 bottleneck in the system where it was almost it was very difficult to get
33:55 things removed from it um and there are some arguments to be made like the way
33:58 that they would incentivize users to post popular things because uh the more
34:04 clicks it gets I think they actually even had an incentive program where they would pay people to upload things that
34:08 were going to get a lot of cck back then I didn't use mega upload much so I'm not
34:11 really sure well their revenue model was based on Advertising so they needed
34:15 traffic traffic traffic traffic traffic and then obviously the response to that is well hold on a second just cuz we're
34:19 incentivizing people to um yeah thank
34:24 you just cuz we're incentivizing people to visit our website doesn't doesn't
34:27 mean that we're encouraging copyright infringements so back and forth back and
34:31 forth back and forth at the end of the day I mean come on you can't put me in
34:37 jail because someone uploads you know a
34:41 an MP3 of Kanye West or whatever the
34:44 kids listen to these days to linest Tech tips.com if we do our best to remove it
34:50 once we receive a dmca takedown and or not even do our best cuz our best is
34:54 very subjective but if we remove the infringing content once we receive a
34:58 dmca takedown notice so um so he walked
35:01 today uh there was a there was like there was a hearing and uh his comment
35:06 on it is actually pretty funny he posted on his Twitter that the hearing was just
35:10 like the entire mega upload case nonsensical or nonsense excuse me and um
35:17 I guess that's all I really have to say about that yeah kind of ridiculous I'm happy he's free I mean I don't
35:21 necessarily think that enabling content piracy is the most you know Noble of No
35:27 but how that whole situation was dealt with not correct messed up like
35:32 completely not fair and completely messed up uh the original article here
35:36 is from techbot this was posted on the Forum by Miss thrope and Google Fiber
35:41 rolled out in Austin Texas so congratulations to our buddies down in
35:46 Austin Texas you guys are super cool definitely cooler than us because you
35:51 have Google Fiber cuz you have Google Fiber One thing that I think is interesting is I know we're not going to
35:55 touch on this a ton but the internet access is a human right 93% of people
35:58 that use the internet think so 83 83
36:02 whatever talk about like a very specific target audience um pulling users of a
36:07 system and asking them if they think other people should use that system as well and should have the right to use it
36:12 especially internet people because you ask internet people about whether people should have the right to do anything and
36:17 they're bound to say yes and then you ask them if they should have the right to use the internet and I like I can't
36:21 even imagine who the 177% of people who said no were yeah and possibly trolls
36:26 like I like I agree with it but like if
36:30 you're going to do a poll like this at least do one that matters and has it
36:35 like number at the end that's like oh that's interesting instead of like oh
36:39 that's people saying they like something cuz they already definitely like it
36:43 anyways um I mean if it's one of those things where the idea was just to get
36:47 people like us to talk about it and spread awareness of the internet being
36:50 important for freedom of speech and you know Freedom of Information access and
36:54 all that kind of stuff then good job yeah but if it was to like move any
36:59 political stuff then I don't think it really mattered but fiber man oh sorry
37:03 I'm jumping back what I found interesting is that Google is kind of
37:07 solving this problem themselves uh if you read part of this Google Fiber thing
37:11 you can get 5 megabits per second down and 1 megabit per second up with no
37:15 monthly charge just a $300 installation fee which can be spread out over 12
37:19 months and then there's no charge that is awesome Google's kind of just giving
37:23 people actually pretty damn good internet and a 5 megabit fiber line is
37:27 better than it sounds because a lot of the time what makes your internet
37:30 connection slow is not actually the the
37:34 sheer bandwidth it's it's the latency so
37:37 that's what makes something like a web page load slowly like sure on 5 megab
37:41 megabit you might not be watching 4K YouTube videos or twitch streams but you
37:46 will have quick access to the web which is the intention and then for 70 bucks a
37:51 month you get one gig up one gig down and one tab of storage across Google
37:56 Drive Gmail and Google+ photos and if
37:59 you pay $130 a month you get 150 TV channels and you can record eight of
38:04 them at once which is actually pretty intense so
38:09 um all right so let's let's move on to our next topic here um ASRock launches
38:16 an x99 board with 10 gabit per second
38:19 Ethernet so I'm going to go ahead this uh original article here is from
38:23 anon.com and I've been saying for a while that I would like to see mother
38:27 boards with 10 gig Ethernet built into them however I'm not necessarily sure if
38:33 this one is the answer so this is a workstation type grade board uh it's
38:39 estimated it's going to be out in December so it's not actually uh it's
38:43 not actually available yet but it's estimated that it will be out sometime
38:47 in December at the price of around $ 800
38:50 to 900
38:54 so I believe it's in the article here so
38:58 it's actually got two 10 GB RJ45 ports
39:02 at the back
39:06 um and they are running off I believe it's an Intel chipset yeah Intel x520
39:11 T2 and then down here what do we've got
39:15 four two three four oh yeah two of them are 1 gbit and then two of them are 10
39:19 gbit the cooling solution actually extends down over the 10 GB Ethernet
39:26 port so presumably that's dealing with the extra heat being kicked off by the
39:29 chipset uh that controls that and then there's also an active cooler on the uh
39:34 on the uh the PCH down here that takes
39:38 care of all your sta connectivity USB and all that kind of stuff so this is
39:42 one Beast of a board but looking at the
39:45 article so there's a couple plx chips under that heat sink with the cooler as
39:50 well um so they can actually do 16x 16x
39:54 16x 16x with four PCI Express cards
39:58 but here we go a shoot I can't find it
40:01 anyway I can't find the discussion about it but basically there were people
40:04 saying that oh well you know that might actually be a pretty good value because
40:08 at $800 to $900 it includes you know a $400 10 GB Ethernet card but you can
40:13 actually get 10 gbit Ethernet cards for
40:16 like 350 I believe and of course this is
40:20 going to be the one time that new egg search completely lets me down
40:25 networking wired networking so I'll I'll look this up sort of offline and then
40:28 I'll go find something here uh wired routers do you want to cover the next uh
40:34 next topic I was completely off page give me one second I will try to find it
40:39 I can use that we'll see we'll race we'll see who can find things first all
40:43 right Supreme Court is talking about tackling online threats for the first
40:47 time and this is actually kind of scary
40:51 for a few reasons it's it's coming up because Anthony alones I might be saying
40:56 that right is convicted after writing graphic gory fantasies about viciously
41:01 murdering his wife and other women and posting them to Facebook
41:05 e yeah sorry I've already read them but saying that out loud is just really
41:10 you're a gross dude um oh by the way I found it so it's 333 bucks so at $800 to
41:15 $900 but that's for a single port one just to be clear so at $800 to $900 you
41:19 can buy yourself a pretty nice x99 board and a 10 GB Nick if you really want one
41:25 and not spend that much and depending on how you feel about ASRock you'll have a
41:29 lot more options in terms of the motherboard okay so Supreme Court yes I
41:33 already said the gross part so we can continue on from there I'm just hoping you all remember it um the Supreme Court
41:39 is judging whether a uh sorry where is
41:43 it uh essentially I can't remember exactly where it's here in terms of
41:46 wording and I know exact wording is very important for legal stuff but a lot of
41:51 it is based around uh literally would it be a teenager playing from League of
41:55 Legends or a grandfather posting on his flight Fishing Forum so what they're trying to describe with that is is the
42:00 threat real if anyone here in the audience has played online video
42:07 games kind of expecting everybody can
42:10 you not um you've probably heard at some
42:14 point in time a really bad comment from someone
42:18 yeah like there's that classic one I'm an xmarine with X number of confirmed
42:22 kills I'm gonna come in yeah yeah the copy pasta like there's I'm going to
42:27 whatever your mom there's like there's all the crap that gets thrown around
42:31 online and like every time anyone says that I'm just like oh whatever you can't
42:34 think of something better like it's not oh no I'm fearful for my life or my mom
42:41 because those are really common insults on the internet but like I like that
42:46 that's the problem with this is we have to be really careful with that line
42:50 because like that negates almost anything said on so many platforms but
42:54 then that's going to open the door to so many people slamming the legal system
42:59 with like oh look at this screenshot I got in League of Legends of this guy
43:02 saying he's going to come attack my mom like oh my God and then the flip side of
43:06 that is I mean the flip side of that is that we might need something do we need
43:09 legislation in place to keep people from acting like complete doofus wads on the
43:15 internet doofus wads see if this comes into in if this comes into play
43:20 everyone's going to be calling each other freaking doofus wads and the maybe
43:23 the world would be a better place if we called each other doofus wad instead of
43:27 talking about what we're going to do to each other's mothers I like your mother so I my mom's pretty nice I don't know
43:32 if she's seen the the probably um yeah I
43:36 don't it's it's it's a very fine line
43:39 that they have to walk so the accused claims his posts forment as rap lyrics
43:44 not as genuine threats which and and
43:47 then if all of a sudden we're going to go okay well no it's not okay to say
43:51 those things in rap lyrics then we get into freedom of expression and art and
43:54 all that kind of stuff and so I suspect this will not go through I
44:02 suspect he will walk away completely scot-free from all of this and the
44:05 Internet won't change and while he's
44:08 kind of maybe I haven't read his post but just the that description and maybe
44:13 I should if I want to com but I really don't want to um but just that
44:17 description is disgusting and from that description maybe he's a disgusting
44:21 person I haven't read them again and that could be glorifying whatever it
44:25 could be a uh what is all when the title oh uh sensal title it could be a
44:31 sensationalist thing it might not be that intense probably is but I don't
44:35 know um but while that is disgusting there's going to be a lot of people on
44:38 the internet that might even just be joking to a friend yep it could be
44:42 within friends something is said someone else sees it and then goes like oh
44:46 sometimes people don't put SL sarcasm like almost ever ever yeah I know it's
44:52 fairly common on Twitch to do the Kappa thing what if you don't know what Kappa means and then there might be common
44:57 elsewhere there might be a casee by case I mean so so a lot of the argument here
45:01 is around arguing for an objective standard meaning that a threat would
45:05 count as a threat if a reasonable person would think the statement is a threat
45:08 and reasonable person has a legal definition yeah it does um and then so
45:13 there's also subjective intent so whether he intended to scare his wife
45:16 with the threat might be more important here not necessarily whether he intended
45:21 to follow through on it and a lot of spousal abuse is spousal abuse is a
45:26 great example because threats um are are
45:30 used to to great effect because the way
45:33 that it the way that it works and this is actually a super creepy conversation
45:37 that I had with my mom once about someone that she knew who was the
45:42 subject of of a of a of a beaten beaten
45:45 wife sort of situation and what she said
45:48 was he only hit me once but after that this is enough yeah
45:55 you know what I mean and so if the idea is that uh is is that this is a verbal
46:01 threat with maybe some weight behind it in in the past maybe there's some
46:05 history there then is it really any
46:09 different um yeah so I'll be interested to see how
46:13 that goes let's move on to the very
46:16 sensationalist headline here this is from kit guru.net original oh I don't
46:20 think we said the op for the last one that was rayu yeah [ __ ] whatever kit
46:25 guru.net posts active Activision using YouTube copyright system to hide
46:30 glitches in Call of Duty um so let's go ahead and post that
46:37 up there also share this on the form here now this is a little bit sort of
46:41 jumping the gun and Activision has fired back and said whoa whoa whoa hold on a
46:46 second uh we're we we didn't intend for
46:50 it to uh for it to hide you know game
46:53 bugs you know we want those reported fix
46:57 that stuff but what we intended um so it
47:00 says glitch SL Che videos that's the important word here in the headline from
47:04 kit Guru what we wanted was for people to stop posting cheats we're trying to
47:10 get cheating reduced in the game and having people not post it all over the
47:14 Internet would be pretty freaking helpful if you guys would all just
47:18 please help us out with this a little bit we're trying to make it a fun gaming
47:21 experience not full of CSG go professional players who say yeah
47:25 Counter Strike yeah CS go and like while that's honorable
47:30 and everything and actually probably not a bad idea they're going about it the
47:33 wrong way cuz this can permanently hurt channels yep and I mean it's it's for
47:38 them to hear about it from so so this was an email from Machinima to some of
47:42 their Partners Yo Dogs maybe you know ease up on this because uh you might get
47:47 you might actually get because okay the problem is that a YouTube Community
47:53 guidelines strike has the potential to
47:56 per ban your channel if you get a few of them and to get one for something as
48:01 innocuous as posting an in-game glitch or an iname cheat fine almost all the
48:06 time um so so using using the using the
48:10 takedown policy on YouTube is is and
48:14 causing potentially irreparable harm to channels is not the right way to deal
48:17 with this um so I still I still think
48:21 Activision's digging here even if their goal may have been Noble
48:27 they and but the thing is a lot of the time I think big companies make because
48:30 they can they can retract their their claims and the strikes do go away um and
48:35 Strikes do expire eventually as well I've had a strike in the past um it was
48:39 a complete misunderstanding but I didn't end up filing my dispute early enough or
48:44 something something I knew I wasn't going to get any more strikes so I didn't deal with it and they expire
48:47 after I think six months but um you know a lot of the time they might just not
48:51 even think about it hey this is someone's livelihood and these strikes
48:55 can get their YouTube still isn't
48:58 necessarily understood properly by everyone I don't understand YouTube
49:02 properly I I made a video where we threw stuff at you I thought it was comedy
49:06 gold and it turns out people hate it so there you go I yeah shows you what I
49:10 know yeah actually we've we've done I've
49:14 done a few unpopular things lately I'm on a bit of an unpopular role but the
49:18 truth of the matter is I'm human um you know I I thought the whole thing with
49:23 the uh the teasing future videos and the innuendo I thought that my response to
49:28 it was funny apparently a lot of people didn't think it was funny what what was your response to
49:32 that you didn't see that I don't think so oh yeah in our test bench video I
49:37 basically said something along the lines of uh well we've been receiving a lot of
49:40 complaints about teasing future videos at the beginning of our videos and the
49:44 amount of innuendo in our videos so I'd like to I so I wanted to you know
49:49 formally address this but instead here's a teaser of an upcoming video and then I
49:53 compared open test benches and closed cases to box versus briefs which is not
49:58 actually sexual no no and that's an
50:01 important distinction here because I had people giving me thought you going
50:05 somewhere somewhere else with open test pches boxers and briefs I I didn't I
50:08 didn't think that there's a lot you could do with open test pches I mean it is arguably potty humor but is it sort
50:16 of it's underwear come on underwear is low brow but it's not like but boxers
50:22 and brief is also kind of just one of those Classics you know what I mean um
50:28 so yeah it's okay I I had intended for the way uh for the way it was going to
50:32 work in the intro I had intended for it to also have kind of a a humorous
50:36 acknowledgement that what I was doing was stupid and not funny where I wanted
50:40 a hook to appear from the side of the screen and then reach for me to pull me
50:44 off the stage but we couldn't find anything we could have used this boom
50:49 stand yeah boom pole would have worked perfectly we were in a hurry and we
50:53 couldn't find anything to kind of do that with and then yeah
50:57 oh well apparently it didn't work so yeah apparently it wasn't funny anyway
51:02 so there you go guys some people thought so I thought so
51:07 still some people thought my thing with you guys throwing at me was the main
51:10 complaint I got was that they couldn't understand but then like I rewatched it
51:14 and I could hear everything so I didn't really get that part I understand that
51:18 it was kind of distracting but uh yeah I guess oh well
51:23 we tried we tried sometimes we fail and
51:26 that's okay that's fine we hope you guys forgive us speaking of forgiving us uh
51:31 Panasonics Lumix cm1 I am willing to forgive anything
51:36 Panasonic might have ever done in the past okay I was wondering where you're
51:41 going with that one I wasn't going anywhere with that Toms hardware. posted this one and this looks
51:47 freaking awesome now I originally said this back when Samsung did the Galaxy
51:54 camera why isn't it a
51:58 phone why isn't it a phone well Panasonic finally did this right so the
52:05 here I'm just going to go ahead and pull pull this up the Lumix cm1 will have a
52:10 1in sensor in what is otherwise a phone
52:14 a like a lens and it's planned to go on
52:17 sale for somewhere in the neighborhood of a very very entrylevel kind of I
52:25 don't I don't even know what to call like a high-end point and shoot cuz it's
52:28 it's kind of in the I think it's in the 900 lb range so it's not cheap okay I
52:33 was going to say a high-end phone but I thought that was dollars not pounds no
52:36 it's a bit more expensive than a high-end phone but it's uh okay so here
52:42 we go blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah the Lumix cms1 pixels are four
52:46 times bigger compared to the Lumia
52:49 1020s um and but it has so it has half
52:53 as many pixels but they're four times bigger which means they can capture
52:56 light so in comparison the HTC 1's Ultra pixels were only 40 to 80% larger than
53:01 other high-end Smartphones at the time
53:05 so basically what this is going to mean is we're finally going to have something
53:10 that just Shear to the way that physics works okay bigger light capturing area
53:17 much larger much better much bigger lens element in front of it better pictures
53:22 this should be assuming they don't completely screw it up the better best
53:26 smartphone camera available period and
53:30 it's not going to cost that much more than an iPhone 6 or 6 plus I've wanted
53:35 this for a little while cuz there's a lot of people that want their phones to
53:39 be able to last a while be able to call and text people and take good pictures
53:43 like that's all they really want and there you go so 20 megapixel Stills in
53:48 both JPEG and RAW formats as well as 4K video recording although only at 15 FPS
53:54 which is likely limitation of the Snapdragon 801
53:57 so so that's from the Tom's Hardware article um let me just see blah blah
54:02 blah blah blah so they've decided to position it more like a camera than a
54:06 smartphone from the like the overall look of the device to the controls and
54:11 they're also calling it a compact camera with smartphone technology but I hope
54:16 people glom on to this cuz I think it is really cool I'm really tired of phones
54:21 being sold based on their cameras which frankly none of them are that great we
54:25 might as well have a camera that's sold based on the incredible additional
54:30 functionality it has thanks to not only Android because we've seen Android
54:34 cameras before but also the fact that you can actually just make phone calls
54:38 from it and literally only have one device that you need to carry around
54:42 with you for people who are shutter buds pictures really cool I like that a lot
54:47 yeah the ring around the lens will allow manual control of aperture ISO shutter
54:51 speeds and white balance and it's expected to be available on December 1st
54:54 sorry it was an estimated €900 pound cuz dealing with those features on a touch
54:58 screen is sometimes really not cool so that's actually nice that they're making
55:02 that Hardware stuff no I think it's fantastic uh what else we got here we
55:05 actually don't have a ton of topics left we've been blowing through stuff sup oh
55:11 yeah right sponsors been trying to point at that for like half an
55:15 hour it's okay though yay sponsors all
55:18 right so we got a couple sponsors for you guys today our first sponsor is
55:23 Squarespace visit squarespace.com for free trial 10% off use offer code Lance
55:29 L um so for those of you who still don't know what Squarespace is you know it's
55:33 funny how many people tell us well hey Linus Tech tips.com is down an awful lot
55:37 don't you guys use Squarespace yes but not on Linus Tech
55:42 tips.com we use it on lineus Medi group.com which is our like zero
55:46 maintenance always workking like company
55:49 website not our community website you can't run a form on Squarespace the way
55:54 that Squarespace works is they do provide hosting in much the same way
55:58 that you could run a forum on a host but they also provide a web platform for
56:03 developing your website to make it not only functional but also beautiful so
56:07 they provide a wide variety of different templates all of which will work either
56:11 on you know a desktop or a notebook or even scale down to a smartphone they've
56:16 got their new partnership with Getty Images so that uh and this is something
56:21 I've talked about before but it feels very self-serving so you can get affordable images from Getty Images so
56:26 that Squarespace is basically ensuring that people who build Squarespace sites
56:30 will have them look as good as they expect them to look cuz you could make
56:33 an ugly Squarespace site like possible you could find ugly stuff and put it on
56:38 the nicest template in the world and you'd still manage to make an ugly site
56:41 but squarespace's whole mandate is that
56:44 they want people to make beautiful websites that are functional and uh and
56:49 they want to make it easy so they have 24/7 tech support it's only $8 a month
56:52 and you get a free domain if you buy Squarespace for the year which is what
56:56 like about a $10 to15 value depending on the domain yeah y well depending on yeah
57:01 cuz some domains are more expensive I mean you could pay a lot more than that for a domain and Squarespace won't give
57:06 you one of those ones like yeah I want
57:10 water.com Microsoft no first of all not
57:13 for sale second of all would be a lot uh so you can start a trial with no credit
57:18 card required and start building your website today and when you decide to sign up for Squarespace make sure you
57:22 use offer code lonus so they know who
57:25 sent you have you made much progress on your Squarespace site yet nope oh all right
57:30 I've been busy on our own oh yeah you've been busy on minus Tech tips.com like
57:33 moving it all over the Internet and doing unscheduled maintenance and all
57:38 that kind of stuff I do want to make progress on it though and I still plan
57:41 on it I also want to get a not Moto X so
57:45 that I can take better photos to put on it right which is like a thing you
57:49 should get that new Panasonic one it actually looks really no I know I am
57:53 interested in it I was interested in one previously but then it wasn't coming to
57:56 North America at all and it wasn't this fun it was a different like camera with
58:00 a phone on it kind of idea cuz I think that's really cool cuz it's like I used
58:03 to be a pretty crazy power user on my phone but that was when I was commuting
58:08 a lot on public transit to school and to work and stuff so I would use it for
58:13 games and work like I would write essays
58:16 on my phone or I would do whatever on my phone so then I was ah so I was on my
58:21 phone a lot and now I'm not on my phone as much so now I use it for like texting
58:25 Hangouts Instagram calling you're a
58:28 social media junky Instagram Twitter like all this Stu which is not difficult
58:33 for your phone to do and then I try to take pictures on it I'm like wow you
58:38 should get an iPhone it's really bad at doing this all the photos look horrible
58:42 I tried to take a picture of uh that chunk that the fan took out of my finger
58:47 right why did you take a picture of that so I was like look look what the fan did
58:50 I don't know whatever um and like the Moto X would not focus on it cuz I had
58:55 to get my camera my phone too close to it but too close was like this far away
59:00 I'm like just do it oh I'm so tired of
59:03 camera the way that camera apps still give you a hard time about locking Focus
59:07 really really really bothers me it's like no just touch it's easy to use
59:11 Touch anywhere on the screen to take a picture that is not easy to use if I
59:16 actually want a particular particular thing to be in Focus um our other
59:20 sponsor today is 54 club and these guys are kind of on fire lately not content
59:25 to have me just talk about how five4 Club are good guys and you can get $120
59:30 or more worth of clothing every month for 60 bucks a month and it's hand
59:33 selected by people who go through your style profile that you create in about a
59:38 minute and send you stuff that's going to make you look good well they just did
59:41 a huge giveaway where they gave away what was it a fiveyear membership I
59:45 think it was a fiveyear membership to 54 Club to one of our lucky viewers but now
59:51 they're actually doing a Black Friday deal so you can get your first your
59:55 second month free so you get essentially
59:59 $180 worth of clothing in your first
60:02 package so that's uh excuse me so following months okay whatever I don't
60:07 understand it anymore I I swear I can never get a 54 okay here let me just I
60:12 don't know when they send it to you but you sign up you pay 60 bucks for your
60:16 first month and at some point whether they send it all in your first package
60:21 or they send the two next packages for free you get three months
60:26 no right so you whatever you get $180
60:30 worth so the $60 covers I'm sure Nick is
60:33 going to come running in here like it's on fire okay cuz it's $120 worth cuz
60:37 it's twice how much you're paying and then it's half of okay the full details
60:41 are 54 club.com basically okay if you
60:44 guys like the idea of not going into a St thank you Nick hi $180 worth the
60:50 clothes in your first package dud you're thinking of the other
60:54 one okay that's not this one and it's $60 for your first month's package gets
60:59 you $180 worth of clothing and normally it would be $120 right normally it would
61:03 be $120 worth of clothing and so the following month you get the normal like
61:07 sticker price 120 first month you get an extra 60 bucks of clothing okay
61:12 includeed in your first package okay and you use that offer code on screen okay
61:16 use the offer code okay nobody should sponsor the show w
61:23 wow no I thought it was I thought you get
61:28 I thought it was I thought you kill him sad
61:32 liess why are you mocking
61:36 me my favorite one oh man so many people
61:39 were focused on not liking the video that they didn't notice the awesome things that happened in it but when like
61:44 my my hand got cut or whatever guys
61:49 no that was fantastic anyway sorry I
61:53 guess we can continue with the show the amount of face Palms in chat right now is glorious I know I know and you know
61:58 it's always five forkable they keep changing things they keep changing their
62:03 offer sometimes they're putting cash in the package sometimes they're doing free
62:08 items sometimes they're doing a giveaway I don't know what these guys are doing
62:12 the point is you don't have to leave your house and you can still look like
62:17 you leave your house and shop and are like a you know look good okay Sony Sony
62:24 compensating PS Vita owners after false advertising so in addition to
62:29 overstating the device's ability to link up to the PlayStation 3 staff at the
62:34 firm's Ad Agency are also accused of using their personal Twitter accounts to
62:38 mislead the public so to qualify for the payout uh users must live in the US and
62:43 have bought a Vita before the 1st of June 2012 those affected should be able
62:46 to choose either $25 cash or credit refund or a $50 voucher which can be
62:51 spent on a selection of video games or other services
62:56 I guess that's pretty much all the that's pretty much it so if you happen to buy one go get your money yep so this
63:02 was posted by howto Gaming uh on the Forum and the original article is from
63:06 the BBC which can you do this topic in the least amount of words possible
63:10 because I think it'll be hilarious uh okay okay I will I will take that
63:13 challenge so I'm going to go ahead and uh I'll just screen share the um the the
63:19 post here don't worry everything is fine uh so this was originally posted on the
63:23 Forum by s00 six not fine uh hold on hold on hold on
63:28 hold on hold on um oh no no no no okay I
63:31 have an idea there we go all
63:35 good yes sure all right soff 006 and
63:40 there's a video and the video is basically IGN
63:44 news saying a thing for like 30 seconds
63:48 cuz that's what they do and why is the Xbox one so big because I think we all
63:54 are pretty much on the same page about how the Xbox One is significantly larger
63:59 than the PlayStation 4 contains basically the same Hardware but a less
64:03 powerful version of it contains no internal power supply thanks to its
64:07 massive external brick whereas the PlayStation 4 has an internal brick and
64:12 the Playstation 4 doesn't have any overheating issues well Microsoft's
64:15 response is in as few words as possible
64:19 Rod which is no words only letters
64:26 what even is that RR o d yeah come on
64:30 you had several of them yeah raid Ring of Death there we go
64:35 so basically they said look it's for cooling and I think that they have a
64:40 great Point here there is no purpose in
64:43 personally I don't care about external power bricks I don't think they're a big deal if you have a game console you
64:48 probably also have a TV if you care that much tape it to the back of your TV or
64:53 something who cares about a power BR and
64:57 then having better cooling for the unit without adding additional cost for you
65:02 know like intricate heat pipe systems or or whatever else is a totally legitimate
65:06 reason to have something be a little bit bigger as long as it's not too big and
65:10 when you look at the Xbox One console well it's meant to fit in you know like
65:14 a like a media center cabinet and as long as it still fits in there it's
65:17 going to be fine and that's the problem is you know people going oh well you
65:21 know it runs like you know super awesome cool well you probably are running it
65:26 responsibly outside the cabinet you know
65:29 not next to a you know heater vent whereas we're talking consoles anyone
65:34 can buy a console and they could put it inside a cabinet with a heater vent
65:38 under it and run games with the door closed because it looks
65:41 nice it's it could be possible one thing that I have to bring up about the brick
65:46 thing people W out their TVs strapping it to the back of the TV is not as much
65:50 of an option if someone is playing in a dorm room and playing off a monitor
65:54 still could potenti be an issue CU you're not going to strap it to the back of your monitor okay well where's their
65:58 monitor sitting is it on the wall no
66:02 okay then they can put it under the desk there might be very limited room under
66:06 the desk well then they can tape it to the side you haven't lived in a dorm have you no that much space literally
66:12 matters speaking of that much space mattering uh guys let me let me know in
66:16 the let me know on Twitter if you want me to do a uh a video on my uh my plan
66:23 to well okay you kind of know this already I guess but I have like too many
66:26 pairs of headphones okay yes yeah this is a new
66:29 thing not that thing yet I haven't heard from Ruckus yet about the wireless
66:33 access points for the other thing I was thinking something else oh okay this
66:37 size thing with the stuff wow I'm trying to be super vague yeah you are being
66:41 vague why don't you just type it while I talk about the new plan uh so I've got
66:45 about 20 pairs of headphones and people kind of go well why do you need so many pairs of headphones and the reason is
66:50 that anytime I'm going to evaluate a pair of headphones the your your memory
66:55 for what's something sounds like exactly is on the order of seconds as opposed to
67:01 being able to listen to headphones 6 months ago and like remember and be able
67:05 to compare to something new so I actually have to maintain a fairly
67:08 substantial collection of headphones in order to do side-by-side comparison and
67:13 I'm not doing Blind AB testing yet but
67:16 at some point I'd like to switch to something like that in the future um but
67:20 for now I'm at least trying to continue to improve the process so that means
67:23 having things for side by-side comparison that means having a sound level meter so that I can make sure that
67:28 they are all dialed into the same volume before I'm testing because things that
67:32 are louder subjectively sound better to us that's fact that's that's like period
67:38 if you're not using a sound level meter in order to ensure that the headphones
67:41 are at the same volume level when you're listening to them then who knows I mean
67:45 it's it's just a freaking guess um so I
67:48 was wondering if you guys want to see me do like a Blog video or something on
67:52 like a management a wall management system for headphones or something like
67:56 that so let me know let me know on Twitter if you're interested in that
68:01 um oh yeah no actually oh oh okay
68:05 totally unrelated to that but
68:09 um uh SLI tiny PC something like that
68:13 okay go ahead and do another Topic in the meantime okay shoot where is that
68:19 another topic give me a second oh okay so Smash Bros was we 's
68:25 fastest selling title in the US that's not surprising at all I think everyone
68:28 saw that coming but it is official and
68:32 one of the biggest complaints I've seen about this launch at all is the fact
68:35 that it's difficult to go out and buy the controller adapter so you can play
68:39 gamec GameCube games on it because they're selling out so quickly which in
68:43 comparison to a lot of launches lately is not that bad of a complaint um it's
68:50 kind of awesome I think it was the Watchdog release on Wii U uh was so
68:55 underwhelming that it was outsold by some like super old game but I don't
68:58 remember what it was the stats for that isn't in here cuz like no one cared and
69:02 I know people at Nintendo are trying to push for like big new other like third
69:06 party AAA titles on Nintendo but no one cares just keep making games like smash
69:11 that's all we really want anyways anyways okay this is this is cool this
69:15 is kind of related to what he was talking about but only sort of uh this is an Indiegogo project that didn't get
69:20 funded I I tend not to like to talk too much about crowdfunding projects on the
69:24 show just because um so much of the stuff that I've crowd oh why is that not
69:29 working this was up earlier
69:33 today all right um well I tend not to
69:36 like to talk about it too much because so much of the stuff that I've um that
69:40 I've crowdfunded and so many of the stories that I've seen are just sort of
69:44 a disaster I don't like I don't like to give these guys too much attention if
69:48 they haven't done anything in particular to deserve it but this one is pretty
69:52 cool and if I could if I can get the page to load I'll bring it up but basically it's like an matx super tiny
69:58 case that is capable of having two graphics cards installed in it which I
70:02 think is uh is pretty darn cool and if any any page with any kind of reference
70:08 to it would load maybe this Tom's Hardware one then I would be able to show it to you guys and you would be
70:11 able to appreciate its greatness do you want to move on to the next Topic in the
70:14 meantime while I struggle to Sure again I don't have one but I will try to find
70:19 one um welcome to the show guys hope you're enjoying it as much as we are I'm
70:24 going to go off off sheet and talk about what happened with Inquisition a little
70:29 bit more uh stuff that didn't really end up in the video so we've had problems
70:32 with the past where there will be DRM on games that doesn't allow you to activate
70:36 it too many times and it would automatically activate in the background
70:40 if you change Hardware on your computer so if I'm testing graphics cards I'm
70:45 changing a lot of freaking cards um
70:48 especially if it's not working at the beginning so which it rarely is yeah um
70:54 so anyways that happened with Dragon Age Inquisition it it locked me out um after
71:00 we had figured out like what exactly we wanted to do with the testing and how
71:04 exactly we're going to do it which was the unfortunate in-game Benchmark um so
71:08 I called them up I think unfortunate is a generous word to use to describe that
71:12 in game Benchmark is it is um so I guess I didn't call them up you have to go on
71:16 their website and sign up for them to call you which is not that bad I guess
71:23 but I would rather that I could call them and then get on the list for them to call me back um because doing the
71:29 site thing was just kind of annoying anyways they called me back in like an
71:33 hour or something and then the very nice
71:36 lady on the phone but very very nice lady surprisingly nice lady on the phone
71:41 um had to send me off to someone else and that was fine and then that dude that picked up was super nice um and
71:45 that whole experience was great and that was awesome and I was actually really
71:49 really happy because usually we trash on EA and I was like I'm finally going to
71:52 have something nice to say about them and then my game went invalid again and
71:56 I had to get them to call me again and they never called me oh EA you tried and
72:01 you know what this the people behind the phones are super nice but the policies
72:05 and the developers are probably awesome yeah so who's bad someone's bad
72:10 Executives I don't know that and the frustrating thing about this is we
72:14 actually had the same problem back with crisis 2 and um that one had a lot more
72:19 activations for one thing so it took us we had been through several you know
72:24 bench marking sessions with it before it ever actually ran out of activations and
72:29 then when we called them that time they said well we can't give you unlimited
72:32 activations but we totally understand your situation but we can give you 50
72:36 and we have easily run it more than 50 times since then so I'm pretty sure that
72:40 they gave it like a lot more than that so the fact that they didn't do it this
72:45 time is very very frustrating what he did was he reissued me the game he
72:48 actually deleted the game off my account and then gave it to me again oh that's
72:52 terrible that that means we can never use Inquisition as a benchmarking title
72:55 then because we'll just keep running out of them and we'll keep having to be
72:58 reissued games that's ridiculous and every single time we have to be reissued
73:02 a game we would have to call them back and it's going be super crazy frustrating all right so I found I found
73:06 this thing so Luke was talking about that case that I want built that is
73:11 about the size of a console and kind of how I want the internals laid out and uh
73:15 that's fine Silverstone has already given me heck about a not coming to them
73:19 with my ideas because they and probably very actually rightly so see themselves
73:24 as the leader in properly cooled small form factor cases in unique form factor
73:30 cases especially um and and B there were like well we have some concerns with
73:34 your idea because of this this this this this and this so I'm actually planning to discuss it with them at CES and we'll
73:39 we'll see if maybe something comes of it I have no idea but this is pretty cool
73:43 so this is a crowdfunded project that never made it um that intended to put an
73:48 matx board with PCI Express extenders
73:52 and the graphics cards literally right up against a side panel keeping any of
73:57 the of the air as long as you have a blower style graphics card um keeping
74:01 any of the heat from the graphics card from contaminating any of the other components and this was a critical part
74:06 of the design for my case was we were going to be able to keep it small by
74:10 using maybe a duct or something to have the graphics card directly intake fresh
74:14 air from outside filters of course and then blow it out the case and so I I
74:19 thought this one was pretty cool I think it's a shame it didn't get funded um but
74:22 then again maybe it isn't because maybe they had no real business model anyway
74:26 like so many crowdfunding a lot of people didn't know about it though like everyone in the comments is like oh wow
74:31 that's super cool wow that's beautiful superb awesome yay cool I had who hold
74:35 on a second their crowdfunding campaign was a disaster but apparently NC Tech
74:40 tips has one coming oh well there you go
74:43 so they're probably doing it anyways I'll be checking it out that's cool cool
74:49 well there you go that was a bit of a different spin on that than I
74:52 exped I've got uh Wheels from uh oh okay
74:56 the guy funded the first run out of his own pocket so like so many of these
75:00 crowdfunding campaigns the uh the crowdfunding is probably just you know a
75:04 way to help do something that they were already planning to to try to do anyway
75:09 um
75:13 moving I I had a few people comment that it was presumptuous of us to put we're
75:18 moving in our thumbnail when we were crowdfunding for the move the crowdfunding is to help with the move
75:23 we're moving to help us build sets we are moving we are going to move it might
75:28 take longer we might not be able to afford nice sets or you know proper
75:33 acoustic dampening this or that at first it might take us longer the crowdfunding
75:37 is to help us we are moving we have to move we cannot stay here yeah so so
75:42 that's basically all there is to that speaking uh speaking of the move um I
75:47 actually had kind of an interesting exchange with Logan from Tech Syndicate
75:51 today where and you know what the truth of the matter is I don't blame him for
75:57 this um because when I watched the part of
76:01 the tech that it came from it was obvious that they were goofing around
76:06 they were talking about my badminton gambling debts and Wendell building a
76:11 robot bird that was stuck in a Badminton Center that I uploaded a video of a bird
76:17 that was stuck in like on my lonus cat tips channel two or three years ago and
76:22 they like zoom in on the thing and they're like blah blah blah Illuminati
76:25 and like uh so somewhere in that whole
76:29 obviously goofing around trolling the
76:32 heck out of everyone segment they said something like we made $2.4 Million last
76:38 year and so amongst Robot Chicken bird
76:41 gambling badminton people decided that was true people decided that that was
76:45 true because I mean obviously we have a relationship with the guys at Tech
76:49 Syndicate we've collaborated with them on projects before so obviously lonus
76:53 shares all the financial details of company and and you know based on the
76:57 size ofan Chanel yeah based on the size of Logan's Channel and how many you know
77:01 hundreds and hundreds of thousands of dollars that Tech Syndicate brings in
77:05 obviously lonus is making making two M $2.4 million a year right um so I
77:12 basically went dude can you can you issue a public sort of retraction of
77:17 that uh because people are misinterpreting it and going oh you guys
77:21 are crowdfunding when you make $2.4 million a year and he like what why
77:25 would I have to do that it's a joke it's a joke and I'm just like it would mean a
77:31 lot to me just if he just said something so he's like okay and he sends out a
77:37 tweet today and so I like I retweeted and I'm like yeah obviously a joke and
77:44 then now now now he's emailing me he's like oh I kind of feel bad and so Public
77:49 public statement from me dude don't feel bad I laughed throughout the the whole
77:55 segment and I didn't even notice cuz I I
77:59 assumed that I hadn't even watched the part with the 2.4 million part because I
78:03 didn't notice it I had actually watched that part I just didn't notice it
78:07 because it was all silly and I was I was looking at you know Illuminati bird
78:12 conspiracy garbage not uh not not that
78:16 so yeah dude don't feel bad I thought it
78:20 was funny it's just a couple people on the internet that apparently take things
78:24 way too seriously and the only reason that I
78:27 was upset and sort of asked for him to clarify it was because we are taking
78:32 some Flack over our crowdfunding campaign in general and people
78:36 misinterpreting him and then repeating it as if it's fact loses the context of
78:42 the joke yeah and so that is the problem
78:45 not anything about the joke that was an issue so
78:49 anyway Sony has an Innovative watch I think
78:55 Innovative is a word um this was originally posted by Tech dreamer and
78:59 the original article here is uh the one that I liked better was from uh gizbot I
79:04 think here um of an Innovative watch made entirely out of
79:09 eaper so there's a I'm going to I need a
79:13 faster way to like I need to set up like a tab system so that I can sort of alt
79:18 tab tab and I can uh oh my gizbot link
79:22 is no good anyway the watch is made entirely out of vaper they've got enely
79:26 well okay the okay the strap and the
79:30 watch surface are made out of e paper and the idea is that you can change the
79:33 look of your watch uh very easily so you could have like it looks kind of like um
79:38 you know leather or it looks kind of like metal finishing and with eaper that
79:42 can actually be pretty interesting yeah they're claiming a 60-day battery
79:45 although none of this has been verified off of a regular watch battery so 60-day
79:49 battery life off of a watch battery um and here let me just fix the link boom
79:56 there it is with the amount of jerking around we've had lately with freaking
79:59 battery life I know I know I know I know
80:05 but it looks pretty cool so there's uh there's a video in the in the CNet link
80:09 here I'm just going to fire this up and you guys can check it out so there we go
80:14 hopefully I don't get a uh hopefully I don't get a strike for this I've
80:18 actually I've actually gotten um copyright complaints from playing
80:23 promotional videos for things in my in land show wasn't it from someone who
80:27 wanted us it was uh I think it was LG I want to say
80:34 basically their their PR firm wasn't talking to the right people and
80:38 miscommunicating something anyway so so the point is oh look how eye grabbing
80:42 this is no I don't think it's that attention grabbing I think this is a bit
80:46 of a silly video but I also think they're having some fun with it now you might have noticed that the company whoa
80:50 hold on a second what was that that doesn't say Sony that says fashion
80:54 entertainment s is
80:58 for fashion entertainments and uh this
81:02 very tired looking man tells us about how it can the the look of it can be
81:06 customized it doesn't have a lot of the more traditional um or even expected
81:12 Smartwatch features things like you know oh heart rate monitor this and and that
81:17 but uh looks cool I don't know if I care oh I don't
81:23 I'm not gonna buy one yeah but like I don't know if anyone should I like the
81:29 idea I like the idea you get the combination of the annoyances that
81:32 you've had or if if you're playing badminton it's either going to be a
81:36 strobe light or when you actually want to look at it it's not going to be able
81:39 to turn on so you have the annoyances of it just not always being on then you
81:43 have it running off of a watch battery that only lasts for 60 days look at
81:47 these shoes they change colors with every step it's a watch though it's not your
81:51 shoes no no the the the technology they're looking at bow ties
81:55 uh watches shoes here's the here's the bow tie one like I I don't know if the
82:01 watch is the right product maybe the other stuff is a better product than the
82:05 watch but the concept as a smart watch I don't think it makes any sense I think
82:09 as like a fashion watch maybe but then you're probably better off getting
82:13 something that isn't this and isn't going to die off a watch battery in 60
82:16 days cuz replacing that it's a lot more annoying than charging something I mean
82:20 I don't this will be eyeg grabbing that's for sure it's super cheap I guess
82:23 it could work as a party favor yeah it'll be a long time before it's that
82:27 cheap but um I don't know I think I think it's cool what they're doing uh
82:30 it's it should be noted that there is no Sony branding on it so um so FES uh
82:36 fashion entertainments is a subsidiary of son Sony even though they're not
82:39 really talking about it and they've actually raised uh 3.5 million yen
82:43 $30,000 from more than 150 supporters via crowdfunding in order to get this
82:48 idea off the ground I do find it interesting that a company like Sony if
82:51 we're going to get criticized for crowdfunding then Sony mind you Sony's
82:55 more broke than us they have more assets but they I they
83:01 they may have less due to assets I think they're not more broken okay but okay no
83:06 I know I know but like if we if we look at it that's like the that's like saying
83:10 like oh yeah the dude on the street has 15 cents in his cup and I own a house so
83:14 I'm way more in debt and he should be giving me money like that's that same
83:17 broken logic it is broken logic but they they made less money than us last year
83:22 even if we only made a dollar we made more they made negative right but then
83:27 they still have their assets I know they have the assets uh holy crap is it six
83:32 o'clock yeah wow okay so
83:39 um and and lonus is now
83:43 broken yeah cuz there's a whole bunch of stuff that I still really wanted to talk
83:46 about this is the stupidest thing I've ever seen um is it like totally just a
83:51 concept yeah this is a crowdfunding thing I was wondering why that no but
83:54 again they have a crowdfunding campaign even though most of the time the
83:57 crowdfunding video at least sort of shows off a sort of functional product
84:03 of some sort this secret bracelet is
84:07 just obviously not even anything other
84:10 than a pipe dream I mean the idea behind it is very cool so there was a simple
84:16 sketch then a first molding now it's a dream okay a simple sketch and a molding
84:22 the jump to dream is not real far not a whole lot of progress has been made
84:27 basically the way they want this to work is you'd have this this bracelet that
84:32 projects your phone onto your wrist and
84:36 they're like oh yeah the way it's going to work is uh let's see no they don't
84:40 have any diagrams here I I kind of wonder if this is just a way to drive
84:44 more traffic to their secret app which is just a like an encrypted messaging
84:47 app uh because I I can't imagine they're going to build this and you can even
84:51 tell from their campaign video um like the campaign video looks pretty looks
84:55 pretty sleek and if it wasn't so poorly done I might even believe they'd made
84:58 some progress on it but this is just nothing and then this is just a motion
85:02 tracked screen and then they're you can see like they're just kind
85:07 of completely Faking It the motion tracking on this one's particularly bad
85:11 you can see it wobbling around on his skin see cuz he's not holding his wrist
85:15 still enough um so the way it's supposed to work is there's like a Pico projector
85:19 thing here and then there's proximity sensors all along the edge here here so
85:25 that as you put down your finger you stop the beam and it knows how far away
85:28 your finger is it knows which beam you broke and then it's figure out where you
85:31 pressed but the problem with that is they show things like typing on a keyboard and then if we go later on in
85:35 the campaign video like I can see how people who aren't that techsavvy might
85:39 fall for this but this is just straight up not going to work um I wish I could
85:44 find the part of the video yeah there we go so with seven of those if the way it
85:49 works is by interrupting the beams you will not be typing on a keyboard it will
85:53 have no idea where you're pressing well with that level of detail
85:58 they have to come out with their own keyboard and it would have to be like
86:02 you know how old phones that work where you like tap something a number amount
86:05 of times so like if you interrupt these two beams twice no no it wouldn't be
86:09 like that cuz they could have an onscreen keyboard as long as it all
86:12 lined up and the buttons were nice and big then it could work CU it knows how
86:16 far away you are and it knows which beam you can attract how far away you
86:19 interrupted that beam okay yeah so it could work but it won't work with any
86:23 kind of traditional keyboard and it's obviously nothing more than just like
86:27 basically like a a razor project uh is
86:32 it Christine or CHR project Christine yeah
86:37 from from CES last year apparently they're still interested in that I think
86:41 they're having a hard time getting Hardware Partners called it uh what else
86:45 we got just cost so much oh this is this
86:48 is one more just kind of silly thing that I wanted to uh I wanted to talk
86:52 about so the a dedicated one key hash
86:56 key is now available also a silly
86:59 crowdfunding thing if I recall correctly so this was originally posted by Linux
87:03 user on the Forum and uh here's the this isn't
87:08 original he just ripped off the control delete
87:12 keyboard yeah but now it's for social
87:16 media junkies rather than people who want to restart their
87:20 computers it's called hash key and it's an idea for a tiny one key keyboard that
87:24 only does one thing put hashtags
87:30 instantly okay cool it's actually doing not bad
87:36 like the crowdfunding campaign because people are just going to get because he launched at the right time because
87:41 people just want to buy it for Christmas stuff it's a cool stocking stuff not
87:44 going to be available in time for Christmas I know but it's Christmas so
87:47 you're in Christmas shopping mood yeah annoying my mom if she buys it I don't
87:51 know 5 years before Christmas it's probably fine now one commenter here on Gizmodo
87:58 actually brought up a very good point and said have y'all ever seen a British
88:04 it's a British Kickstarter have y'all ever seen a British Mac keyboard where
88:08 is the hash key good who
88:13 cares whoa we need to stop hashtagging things anyway they got their own pound
88:19 yeah I didn't realize that um good
88:24 actually need it I didn't realize that
88:27 uh it's not called pound outside of North America it's it's always been Hash
88:32 Hash sign and then a hashtag is I've never send I've never said pound key
88:37 anyways yeah was pound until the whole social
88:41 media happened thing as far as I could tell uh like of course there's there's
88:46 situations where you should probably use it um but like don't a I hate social I
88:52 hate social media hashtags I don't know I've never really been into it so this
88:55 is cool um speaking of of social our Forum Adam The Geek just posted I just
89:01 got a Pebble Steel since then I've since then I've been uh playing around making
89:05 watch faces made a wow watch face that's
89:08 sick yeah that's awesome I love it so I just wanted to uh wanted to share that
89:12 little bit of fan art I love this fan art stuff it's cool no one ever made fan
89:17 art of us before except that one really creepy thing um oh yeah uh so this was
89:22 originally posted by am on the Forum and it's from Hardware
89:26 zone.com Sony is uh this is this is amazing so
89:30 they're releasing the vpl
89:33 gtz1 this is a 55
89:38 kilogram so guys for those of you who think Imperial we're talking about 130
89:44 lb something in that neighborhood 4K
89:48 Ultra short throw laser projector it
89:51 does 4K 60p over h HDMI 2.0 with four
89:55 inputs it needs only 7 in from the wall
90:00 for a 17 by9 aspect ratio image so you
90:05 need like two people to hold this thing that is 147 in tall so you can fit it
90:11 whoa what from 7 in from the wall it's a
90:14 laser projector this thing is badass if
90:19 you were looking to build the ultimate
90:22 home theater setup and you kind of went you know what my home theater setup is
90:27 not going to have a projector mounted on the ceiling you only have to have it
90:32 this far from the wall in order to have a home theater sized perfect Fork every
90:37 single one of them is hand assembled in Japan okay how much does this cost
90:42 you're talking about home theater setup uh well you you you'd be a pretty you'd
90:47 be pretty okay so like 50 Grand I think
90:50 yeah 50 Grand us talking about those like Lottery home home
90:54 yes so to put this in perspective this is 135 in uh would be like the typical
91:01 4K projector distance um this one sits 7
91:05 in away now it's not small it's a meter
91:09 wide like it's huge that's really big
91:12 but it's pretty pretty freaking cool I thought that was uh that was pretty darn
91:16 sweet uh what else is there to say about it yeah I guess that's pretty much it I
91:20 think that's pretty much it for the show for today unless you had anything else that you really wanted to hit
91:24 guys thank you so much for watching I mainly just wanted to talk about that
91:28 whole um which we already talked about dream hack
91:31 winter cuz that's just been ridiculous I wanted I wanted to show that Ubisoft was
91:36 still digging despite doing some good things they did a good thing they did
91:39 let give them credit I'm not taking off the shirt yet and I'm not going to tell
91:42 you guys to stop buying the shirts they have like one dude in the hole trying to
91:46 put dirt back in it and then they have another dude in the hole trying to throw dirt back out so I don't know they still
91:50 haven't solved their problems well the hope is that the guy putting the dirt in
91:54 will suffocate the guy taking the dirt out and then they can just keep on
91:58 digging they can get rid of that guy that's not the hope well that might
92:03 be their hope based on their based on their goals yeah yeah yeah people are
92:07 bringing up Star Wars but I haven't been able to see the trailer yet you haven't seen it I have not seen the trailer yet
92:12 you know why I haven't seen the trailer yet is because last night someone linked
92:17 me to an imager post aming saying here's the Star Wars trailer and it was someone
92:22 secretly filming in a movie and I was like okay cool and then you get Rick
92:27 Rolled I'm like oh so it's not real so
92:30 every mention I saw of it after that I was like oh whatever it's not real it's
92:33 just people trying to spread this Rick Roll whatever I guess Rick Roll is coming back so I was just ignoring it
92:37 completely and then today so real we're filming that thing that I'm not going to
92:42 bring up that's coming on Sunday um and Brandon's like oh yeah have you seen it
92:46 yet I'm like well I got Rick Roll and he's like what I'm like yeah that's what
92:50 it is you got you got wrecked R yeah got
92:54 compl you didn't even get not only did you get Rick Rolled you didn't get to
92:57 watch the trailer so do you want to talk about it
93:01 uh you can talk I don't mind spoilers I'll watch the trailer yes I will talk
93:05 about it well the the trailer has a lot of like long dips to Black so there's
93:10 not a whole lot of spoiler to happen it's like it's like basically like a 2C
93:16 snippet and then it's like di to Black dramatically and there's
93:22 like like he's like couple seconds and
93:25 it's gone they're not showing you anything but but there's a couple really
93:28 cool shots that reminds me of the world of drainer trailer where it's just like
93:32 the orc facing at the screen like breathing angrily like not showing you
93:37 anything it was actually a really cool trailer no they are they are showing nothing but uh okay so there's there's
93:42 one shot that like made the hairs on the back of my neck stand up and they've got
93:47 a couple of x-wings information flying like a couple feet over the water and
93:52 the water spray is like flying up behind them uh they've got obviously a Sith um
93:58 you know firing up a lightsaber that's actually got like a hilt on it oh yeah
94:03 but the the the design of the he Hilt isn't very good it's kind of stupid because there's actually like things
94:08 that they come out of so the traditional way that that was used the the handguard
94:12 was used is if the sword slid down it well that wouldn't block the blade
94:16 because if you slid down the blade you cut off the thing um there's nothing
94:20 preventing a lightsaber from being cut in half it would have to be like up on a weird angle or something but yeah okay I
94:24 got you so it is it is amazing how
94:28 emotion invoking just that music is yeah
94:32 that music with some kind of imagery to
94:35 it I I I I do love Star Wars and if i' I
94:40 think I said this on uh on netlink today
94:43 uh over on ncx Tech tips but if Abrams
94:48 screws this up he's going be called jarar Abrams yes I've read that
94:53 somewhere that's me I still like the joke even if it isn't yours because it
94:59 like Star Trek I enjoyed the movies but
95:03 there was really no risk that I wasn't going to enjoy the movies I'm not a treky like I I watched a bunch of Next
95:09 Generation with my dad when I was a kid but like as a as an adult and even as a
95:13 teenager I never got into any of the
95:16 Star Trek series hold up pause sorry apparently the dream hack match is being
95:20 played again from halfway that is [ __ ]
95:24 no that's not right that is super dumb
95:27 okay we I'm ignore that now we don't use the RW to describe things that are dumb
95:31 because that's not PC sorry
95:35 but I I acknowledge that you're anger is
95:40 not entirely unjustified and sometimes angry outbursts over an incredible
95:45 Injustice um don't make it through the
95:49 politically correct filter I'm sorry that's just stupid but that is
95:53 ridiculous that is absolutely ridiculous hopefully that's not actually what happening hopefully he's trying to add
95:58 hold on hold on apparently that's not confirmed yet okay okay no the decision
96:03 isn't final yet okay good good anyway back to back to Star Trek um so I didn't
96:09 really have any emotional investment in it I was able to watch those movies as
96:12 just like fun space movies that I don't really care about Star Wars is a whole
96:17 other ball of wax I'm sure Nick has official verdict thing has not been
96:21 decided okay not been decided um so Star
96:24 Wars I have a much more I like read tons of the books and like I owned like Star
96:29 Wars like encyclopedia reference style books like The Ultimate Guide to
96:33 vehicles and weapons and characters and like read them cover to cover multiple
96:37 times as a kid like I'm a Star Wars kid so if he screws if I hear any mention of
96:45 medoran I will walk out of the theater do you know the old like straight up
96:49 Golden Black Box the VHS box yeah yeah yeah that one is like half destroyed
96:54 because of how many times I watched it as a kid well I'm a little older than
96:57 you so for me it's the one with the uh
97:01 the the Blue Star Wars text the um my
97:04 dad I think my dad had a version before that one purple Empire one and then the
97:08 uh maroon Return of the Jedi one in blackbox set yeah um but I also own the
97:13 gold one that's funny so uh so there you go
97:18 the remastered ones the the one the gold one is pretty bad it's got a lot of
97:22 remastered crap in it greo shoots first terrible but the one that I own before
97:27 that is the one that I grew up watching over and over again Han shoots first the
97:32 way that he should have it's not even a debate I don't even understand what
97:35 there is to debate about it you know people star Star Wars people need to
97:39 just get together and all go look we're not going to talk about this anymore because there is no debate any movie
97:44 where Han doesn't shoot first is not a Star Wars movie any movie that mentions
97:47 mclan is not a Star Wars movie any movie that has Jar Jar Binks in it is not a
97:52 Star Wars movie and and Revenge of the
97:55 Sith I can I I enjoyed it but I have
97:58 never once rewatched it so I I maybe I'll go back and give it
98:04 another shot um see if see if it still
98:07 holds up to being not complete garbage right use the force Harry quoting
98:12 Gandalf thank you for that jerk you're
98:17 banned all right now the twitch chat is full of han
98:22 han did not shoot first and so the show
98:26 is over thanks for watching guys peace
98:30 bye show is so over like over enough
98:33 that we're never going to do it again greo shot first until next Friday
98:39 yeah when we'll do it again yeah very
98:42 specifically at 4:30 PS yeah unless we're late
98:49 usually so like in any range specifically from 4:30 to 6
98:54 We'll Be Live we're only like 6 minutes late today or maybe
98:58 eight they're both even
