0:07 welcome to my unboxing of the war zone
0:10 lx60 XT projector from Ben Q this is not
0:15 right this is the wxga model the one that's actually inside here is the XGA
0:20 model this is just a sample unit so you guys don't worry too much about what
0:24 this looks like because yours will come in a nice shiny new retail package so
0:30 inside we find a couple of things honestly I can't even begin to speculate
0:34 what the actual accessories included with a retail one would be but I would say probably it comes with a power cord
0:39 and probably it comes with some kind of video cable it will also come with a
0:44 remote that includes a laser pointer so you can see it's covered with warnings
0:49 about lasers and like stuff o um aha
0:53 laser oh oh the batteries are not
0:57 installed too bad okay so that includ a bunch of functionality but you're
1:01 actually not limited to using this remote you can even use with the dongle
1:08 that you can buy separately just I think it's like 60 bucks or something like that you can use your iPhone to control
1:13 everything about it and you can even stream images slideshows or PowerPoint
1:17 presentations and you can just like flip between the slides like this and stream
1:20 them directly to the wireless dongle which is kind of cool it actually works
1:24 with a bunch of NQ projectors if you check out their app on the iTunes Store
1:28 App Store whatever it's called whatever it is it's not called Google
1:32 Play because it's only for Apple but if you check out the app it actually has a
1:36 list of which projectors are compatible with the dongle and the
1:42 app now this is a very cool projector
1:46 will you buy one the answer is probably not will this technology trickle down
1:52 and will you eventually be able to buy something like it the answer is quite
1:56 possibly because this is more of a corporate skew more for
2:00 pre presentation Halls schools uh stuff
2:03 like that and less about the actual individual end user here so this is a
2:09 solid state laser projector which has a whole whack load of different advantages
2:15 um slick standing in front of my notes in including the fact that
2:22 the I mean I can't even call it bulb replacement estimated time so it they
2:28 estimate BenQ estimates that you get 10,000 hours of use out of this before
2:32 you will actually have to replace the DLP wheel now it also has an eight
2:36 segment wheel besides the laser backlighting it has an 8- segment wheel
2:40 which compared to most projectors in this kind of a product class right now
2:43 are using a six- segment wheel which gives you better color reproduction as
2:47 well as absolutely Wicked 880,000 to1
2:51 contrast ratio and we're not talking like funky Dynamic contrast ratios we're
2:55 talking actual contrast ratio we had this fired up before I put it back in
2:59 the box and I got to say guys for a DLP projector it absolutely blew me away in
3:04 terms of the vividness of the colors like even looking at the Windows desktop
3:08 the Windows logo in the middle the green and the yellow are distinctly different
3:12 and they really pop even on this like crappy off-white wall so that was very
3:17 cool about it um no moving Parts other
3:21 than the fan why do you have no moving Parts written down there okay well
3:25 forget that it's a short throw projector which means that from here to the wall
3:28 we were able to project an image that was about from here to about here and
3:32 here to here so big old huge image the
3:36 Practical limits of this in a dark environment are about 300 in but I'd say
3:40 probably closer to 100 to 150 in if
3:43 you're in a more brightly lit kind of
3:46 environment what else are we missing here I want to make sure we don't miss
3:50 anything right it's available in XGA or
3:53 wxga and aha it's green so no Mercury
3:57 since there is no traditional proor lamp
4:00 there's no Mercury inside the projector lamp so that means that if it's you know
4:04 thrown away or disposed of in any particular way you don't have to worry
4:08 about the environmental impact of that Beyond just the fact that it's you know
4:12 plastic and you shouldn't throw away Electronics more than you absolutely have to finally threeyear parts and
4:17 labor warranty and near instant on and off so it takes about 3 seconds to turn
4:20 off and about 6 seconds to turn back on immediately which is very cool compared
4:25 to some of the uber slow traditionally
4:28 back lit project that we've seen in the past oh look at that engineering sample
4:33 sweet also has a 20 W speaker built in and let's go ahead and take a bit of
4:40 a product tour here so here's the focus wheel it's got big old
4:44 grippy neral Shenanigans going on here
4:48 all right it's got like kind of a nice blue thing going on you can actually Mount this any way you want it can even
4:52 mount in portrait mode and it is compatible with that so you can you I
4:57 mean I can't imagine you know what leave a comment guys leave a comment if you
5:01 can think of a reason to mount a projector in portrait mode and have it
5:04 be like like a portrait image like right
5:07 side up I I cannot cannnot imagine why you'd want that you can actually see the
5:11 internals a little bit here you can see some electronics and whatnots and HOAs
5:16 and here you can see some heat sinks and fans and cooling stuff going on it
5:19 doesn't get super loud but I mean it's not silent or anything either in terms
5:23 of inputs we've got a pretty wide variety we've got audio in one and two
5:27 audio out as well as a microphone Jack we've got our traditional um old analog
5:32 stuff so you got your composite you got your s video you got your audio right
5:35 and left you've got up to two VGA in a
5:39 monitor out HDMI in two USB ports so
5:42 that's where you'll plug in that wireless dongle which actually looks a
5:46 little something like this you can also read uh certain things
5:51 directly off of it if you check out my gp2 video I show you some of the cool
5:55 things you can do with benq's built-in software also have a Serial Port mini us
5:59 BB Lan and finally a 12vt trigger
6:03 finally again the power and finally once more the Kensington
6:08 lock I think that pretty much covers it so stay tuned guys cuz I'm going to be
6:12 doing a proper NC Tech tips on this particular model so this is just going
