0:07 welcome to my unboxing of a super exciting product I've had quite a few
0:11 requests to take a look at this guy this is the g75 V more specifically is the as
0:18 g75 VW v3g m-18
0:24 13-1 basically this is the ASUS g75 this
0:27 is their next Generation Ivy Bridge gaming notebook which not only has Next
0:32 Generation ivybridge processing behind the CPU it also has Next Generation
0:38 Graphics powered by NVIDIA 600 series
0:42 gpus so this is an incredibly exciting
0:45 product and it comes with a Targus
0:51 backpack I'm going to let that sink in Target's backpack uh okay no but
0:56 seriously you guys it has um like a republic of gamer branded thing going on
1:01 here and for an included backpack I can already tell you guys it feels really
1:05 good there's actually genuinely padding on it whereas most like free bonus gift
1:10 backpacks are usually pretty horrible so
1:13 uh yeah there you go it's got like a Seuss branding on the uh the the lining
1:18 and then your notebook goes in there your other stuff you know I'm not going to spend too much time on the backpack
1:22 here but I feel like I should just kind of show it to you at least all right so
1:26 there's your included Rog backpack here's what is presumably an included
1:30 Rog
1:34 Mouse okay there you go it's got like a DPI
1:40 adjust button scroll wheel you know some buttons that go here here and here some
1:44 rubberized grips some slippy pads on the bottom pretty basic um I mean handy to
1:50 have an extra Mouse don't get me wrong but uh get a real gaming mouse if you
1:54 sort of care about that sort of thing um
1:57 so before we get into the specifics of the g75 let's talk about General ASUS
2:02 advantages so ASUS knows how to manufacture things um sort of goes
2:07 without saying they are experts so take
2:11 that to the bank number two is they stand behind the things they manufacture
2:14 you have a one-year warranty covering accidental damage drops spills power
2:20 surges and fire damage holy crap normally that costs you an extra what I
2:25 don't know 150 bucks on an Apple probably something along those lines
2:28 more more s is sort of indicating to me 24-hour toll free phone support Target
2:34 is three business day turnaround time for repair and replacement and free
2:37 oneway standard shipping from ASUS to the user so you do have to ship it back
2:40 to them 2-year international warranty so it's one year of accidental damage
2:43 2-year overall warranty zero bright dot guarantee on the screen two-way free
2:48 standard shipping okay I don't understand which of these is going on
2:51 here but 24/7 tech support so all that's on there either way ASUS does stand
2:55 behind their products they do have the best default warranty that I'm aware of
3:00 you can get better extended warranties than this on products but not out of the
3:05 box not without paying a bunch more money um okay 17.3 in full HD LED
3:10 backlit screen USB 3 I don't know what that has to do with the LCD maybe we'll
3:15 figure that out later uh okay without 3G
3:18 without TV 6X Blu-ray on this particular
3:22 skew okay we've got a 3610 qm that's a
3:25 quad core i7 256 gig SSD boot drive and
3:29 750 G 7200 RPM drive that is the perfect
3:33 Drive configuration gold star ASUS for
3:36 getting it exactly right because we see a lot of dual Bay uh notebooks that are
3:41 configured with like dual hard drives in rid zero or like one hard drive in them
3:46 by default no you need a boot SSD you need a mass storage Drive perfect and
3:51 you need a high-speed mass storage Drive 7200 RPM Drive good job ASUS 16 gigs of
3:56 RAM Windows 7 Premium and and all of that looks sort
4:00 of pretty I can't believe that on a gaming notebook they actually don't have
4:05 a GPU spec on the spec
4:09 sheet simply phenomenal okay well guess we'll figure
4:14 out it's probably a 675m if it is what I think it is but uh I was sort of
4:19 expecting it to say for sure on the side of the unit but whatever uh power brick
4:24 is as we've come to expect with gaming notebooks not exactly small so you know
4:29 if you you were expecting it to be petite then you can expect to be
4:33 disappointed but you have to power a lot of power to a powerful notebook so
4:38 that's that's how they that's how we roll uh a couple speaker grills it looks
4:42 like okay so we'll find out what those are for after power cable to go with
4:45 your power brick and power battery to go
4:48 with your like power power biceps to open the
4:56 package battery notice I believe the battery is only one year warranty or
5:00 like 90day or something um usually the battery has a lesser warranty than the
5:04 rest although it looks like I'm totally wrong this has nothing to do with that
5:07 it just has to do with making sure you don't dispose of it in fire which is a
5:11 terrible idea I mean you shouldn't dispose of almost anything in if it's
5:15 not made of paper you shouldn't be disposing of it in fire okay can we just
5:20 sort of all agree on that I mean wood Wood's okay but not painted wood you
5:24 know these are common sense things that uh ASUS sort of is explaining to us and
5:30 I mean nice of them it's it's good that they don't want us to you know inhale
5:34 toxic fumes and Destroy IM mate our environment but uh it seems a little
5:39 self-explanatory so there's your battery pack you kind of throw the thing in
5:43 there and pop the thing in there and you're good to go the bottom is covered
5:47 in rubber grippies here here here here
5:51 here and here and these are just plastic ones so I think they're just for looks
5:55 but whatever um so they've put a lot
5:58 more support behind the screen because the screen is big and they put less
6:02 support behind the rest of it because the rest of it is not so big and I think
6:06 that's all pretty pretty straightforward so on the back of the unit bam
6:10 ventilation huge heat sinks here and
6:13 here with heat pipes running through them these are cooling that high-end GPU
6:17 and that high-end quad core CPU Kensington lock for security gorgeous
6:21 little branding accents there this this looks really sharp it looks it almost
6:25 looks like imagine this kind of guys okay so from from back a little bit
6:28 further so kind of want this angle there's your headlights there's your
6:32 emblem in the middle there's your front grill sort of thing it kind of looks
6:35 like a performance vehicle I think and that's uh you know probably totally off
6:41 in terms of what their design philosophy was for it but it looks fantastic on the
6:44 side we've got two USB 3.0 super speed ports a Blu-ray disc player an SD card a
6:49 microphone and headphone jack on the front we have indicator LEDs for a
6:53 variet of different things including caps lock uh number lock Wireless hard
6:57 drive activity battery and apparently a light bulb maybe power uh wow two more
7:03 USB 3 super speed ports so no USB 2 uh
7:06 we've got Thunderbolt HDMI gigabit
7:10 Ethernet VGA good inclusion because every once in
7:14 a while you will still need to Output to VGA and it's good to have it and since
7:18 it doesn't have DVI you don't have those analog pins in the DVI connector so
7:22 you've got digital analog great uh Power
7:25 in and let's go ahead and open her up so the top is again very beautiful this is
7:31 pretty similar to the last generation g74 in terms of the look of the hinge
7:34 and the look of the top of the unit Republic of Gamers badge and ASUS logo
7:38 on the back look very very sharp you've got a soft touch feel to the overall
7:43 outside of the unit which is very nice and it also gives you a little bit of
7:46 durability it's harder to scratch soft touch than it is something like a glossy
7:50 plastic surface ultimate fighting machine sure why not got one of those
7:54 protectors for the keyboard against the uh the screen itself and this is oh this
7:58 is nice we got like a brushed aluminum thing going on here let's see if it's
8:03 got enough of a charge to turn on right out of the box here so brushed aluminum
8:06 um backplane for your keyboard which is Led backlit I'm going to turn off the
8:11 lights in the room for a second so you guys can see what the uh what the
8:14 backlight looks like it's beautiful I I
8:18 I love white LED backlights um I think in my favorites kind of go like green
8:23 and then white and then like other
8:26 um so it's booting up right now you got a full number pad and no glaring errors
8:33 on the keyboard layout full size shift full size shift backspace and enter
8:38 wonderful perfect way to go ASUS because it kills me when I see keyboard layouts
8:43 that are that are broken due to the notebook however it's easier on a 17in
8:47 than it is on uh smaller form factor notebooks so you know there you go um
8:52 right so it has a GTX 670m which is a pretty beefy graphics
8:58 card and and that'll go with the uh the quad core processor so I'm just going to
9:02 put uh demo demo I guess I I don't know
9:06 they're going to be using this at the uh
9:09 no I don't want a Bing Bar are you kidding me oh man okay use recommended
9:16 settings we are in Pacific time uh Tech
9:19 tipn doesn't have any internet connectivity right now anyway oh okay I
9:22 thought I was getting a call but it's just my Twitter feed going nut for some
9:25 reason um okay so moving on you've got
9:29 all the usual hot Keys here so you got your brightness up and down you've got
9:32 your keyboard brightness up and down your wireless sleep uh external display
9:36 internal display turn off the touchpad and your audio controls I wouldn't have
9:40 minded seeing media control oh there they are uh there's your play pause back
9:44 forward and stop ah love that dedicated
9:47 stop button so many devices aren't doing dedicated stop buttons anymore because
9:52 they're like oh no pause is good enough because pause is good enough for Apple
9:56 um Apple started this with no stop button stop means like off go away and
10:01 so good job uh We've also got their
10:05 shoot I forget what The Branding name for this is but it controls all your
10:08 different um Power modes and all of that so that's your your function for the for
10:13 the space bar here we go gamer friendly ergonomic design intelligent cooling
10:18 plus Easy Clean system Easy Clean system
10:21 wonder what makes it easy clean no way look at that so you can
10:28 either open this up up with one screw fantastic or you can open up this with
10:33 one screw and clean out the cooler see that's the see manufacturing
10:40 expertise understanding the challenges and then just like addressing it instead
10:44 of ignoring it that that is what sets
10:49 apart and I have I still have no idea what these are for but uh moving right
10:53 along like are they for like okay I I
10:57 got nothing I'm sorry guys um CPU GPU
11:00 Extreme Performance it sure does oh right so I have left out the best part
11:06 for last so it has two-year warranty etc etc comes with macafe Internet Security
11:11 as well as ASUS's web storage that's handy as well um has instant on oh
11:16 that's cool so it uses um it uses
11:19 Intel's latest chipset technology to
11:23 instantly power on so here I'll show you guys um cuz I'm sure this is going to
11:26 work even though this is a completely live demo and you can see what a
11:29 difference the SSD makes if you guys have ever turned on a new computer oh
11:33 crap ask me later go away if you guys have ever turned on a new computer then
11:37 you probably know that they don't usually turn on that fast and initialize
11:40 for the first time SSD is amazing and
11:44 everyone should have one so we're going to go into
11:48 sleep and we're going to see when it goes into sleep I'm so confident that
11:52 this will be fast there it's in sleep and we're going to turn it on and it is
11:56 going to be on and Bam
12:00 instant on excellent uh right so Best For Last this
12:06 screen is what I'm all about so you can
12:10 see right here there's a built-in transmitter what is that for oh there's
12:13 a webcam too but every notebook has a webcam uh there's a built-in transmitter
12:17 so what is that for that is for your
12:21 okay I'm just going to go away and I'm going to find them hold on hold on wait
12:24 for it yes that is for your balling out
12:30 3D Vision glasses because this notebook
12:34 display is 3D Vision ready and 3D Vision
12:37 ready with light boost if you guys remember any of what I've said about
12:41 light boost in the past then um I don't
12:45 need to say this next part but if you don't then I do light
12:50 boost is amazing light boost takes the 3D Vision experience from for me a
12:56 little bit headache inducing after about 30 seconds to comfortable and awesome
13:01 light boost is amazing it not only increases the brightness of the display
13:06 when you're in 3D mode with the 3D glasses it also dramatically reduces the
13:10 cross talk between the images which is what I get the headache from where I can
13:14 see a little bit of the left eye image through my right eye because the panel
13:18 isn't switching fast enough and it's not modulating the backlight in order to
13:21 optimize it for me so that is fantastic
13:24 I love light boost it is amazing it is magical it's like it's like I could
13:28 stand up and deliver a keynote speech about how it is magical and uh I would
13:33 actually genuinely believe myself unlike some things that have been presented as
13:36 magical in the past so there you go 1080p light boost ready 3D Vision
13:42 display awesome awesome performance and
13:46 yeah it's okay it's kind of heavy but that's sort of life when you have a
13:49 gaming Notebook thank you for checking out my unboxing and first look at the
