0:00 - We're doing this today, the Fractal Torrent Nano.
0:03 Which is something that I'm personally excited for 'cause I'm overdue for a rebuild.
0:08 Now this one is white, which doesn't quite fit my needs
0:12 more of a black case guy myself but, we're gonna get it out of the box,
0:16 see what's inside and see what the tiny version of the big boy looks like.
0:19 We've got a patented foot brace technique.
0:24 Okay, it's bigger than I thought it would be. I love this front grill,
0:28 big and open, and kinda like brutalist is what they describe it as.
0:31 It is hiding a huge, relatively, 180 mil fan
0:35 it's 38 mil thick. It's also got temper glass side panel.
0:39 Why this case is so important to me? Well, it's reasonably affordable,
0:42 it still fits a hard drive. It'll fit like a 335 millimeter long graphics card.
0:48 You can put five 120 mil fans in it if you wanted to,
0:51 or you can fit the 180 up front, two 140s at the bottom and a 120 at the back.
0:56 So it's got tons of configuration options. It is just the right format of case for what I want to do.
1:02 So I have a Thermaltake P1, which is like a wide boy but it's kind of cubish
1:05 and I think it's time to go small,
1:08 but vertical. I think this guy just lifts up.
1:13 I don't know. Ooh, there we are. Off she comes. We got a little box of accessories in here.
1:17 What do we got? Bunch of zip ties and a wiping cloth in a low density polyethylene bag
1:22 and a butt load of fasteners. And I didn't even look at this guy,
1:26 Ooh, these are the fan mount brackets. So if you wanna run a rad
1:30 or two 140 mil fans in this,
1:33 you have to run these brackets. So you pull the 180 that's already pre-installed in out.
1:38 And this guy would go in and it comes with a bunch of thumb screws and all that jazz.
1:42 I'm not going to be doing that. So, I won't need these today because, you know it,
1:47 I'm using air cooling. And because I'm self-serving and I wanna buy this case
1:51 I'm literally using the same hardware that I put in my own PC. So I've got a D 15
1:56 have the same motherboard have the same graphics card and we're gonna try and fit it in here as
2:00 an analog to me upgrading my own PC. They say it's tool free.
2:04 And I see this guy, but I don't know. I don't wanna break it 'cause
2:07 oh, there we go. So, we have a filter on the bottom,
2:11 nice filter on the front, similarly nice.
2:16 Oh, front panel comes off. Hey, there we go. Okay, so if you wanna slide out this filter
2:20 easy. I have the same size fan in the front to of my P1.
2:24 It is large and it rotates slowly, so it generates less noise,
2:28 but we'll see how that sounds once we get it all together. Is it that time Jono?
2:32 - [Jono] Might be! - Might be that time for our sponsor Seasonic.
2:35 Thanks to Seasonic for sponsoring today's ShortCircuit. Seasonic's Prime TX 1000 watt power supply
2:40 is a good choice for high performance systems. Featuring an 80 plus titanium rating
2:44 which means less power getting wasted during power conversion, which means savings in your wallet.
2:48 It's fully modular with hybrid fan control and a fluid dynamic fan bearings for quiet operation
2:54 comes with a 12 year warranty and learn more about them at Seasonic.com
2:57 or through the links below. And I will be upgrading to one of these personally.
3:01 So, you should try it. I grabbed a random test bench,
3:06 which is conveniently the same motherboard I have. I think it's got a Ryzun 2700 in it
3:11 Ballistix 3600 16 gigs. Now, normally I would have preassembled this,
3:14 but I wanna talk about just how large this cooler is.
3:18 This case supports a 165 millimeter cooler tower which this conveniently is
3:23 whether it will actually be able to close its door
3:26 I don't quite know. And similarly, this is a rather large graphics card.
3:31 I think it's probably right around the limit of 335 mill that will fit in this case.
3:36 It does appear to fit barely,
3:39 how its thermals will be, that remains to be seen. I mean it is meshed down there,
3:44 but there's no fans 'cause I mean, we're putting three fans right above it, why bother?
3:48 I always do these in steps 'cause if you just tighten one,
3:51 you're kind of putting a lot of load and you want everything to spread out both directions too.
3:56 Now I can drop this guy in.
4:03 This thing fits at D 15. Will it fit a D 15 and a graphics card?
4:07 That's a different story. Will she go,
4:12 come on, look at that airflow just right out the back.
4:17 That's a thing of beauty. So, let's actually install it now. I might be making a fatal mistake
4:22 if I screw this in before I put the fan on. There's no finger clearance
4:25 in here to do that. - [Jono] Just flip it on one side, its fine
4:30 - No Jono. Oh man. Also, it's gonna be impossible to get to this plug.
4:35 So this four pin is going to be in there,
4:38 there's no way. So I'm gonna clip the power supply into it now.
4:42 Power supply goes up here. So this is the attic style.
4:48 Oh, okay okay. So cable's already pre managed up here.
4:53 That's gonna get trapped. So this is the hard drive sled.
4:56 So you can mount a 3.5 inch drive up here and one, 2.5 inch underneath it.
5:01 We're gonna pull it out 'cause I'm gonna have to deal with the cable management and then we can chuck a drive in it later.
5:05 Cables are gonna tuck down here. So I'm gonna run that four pin
5:09 (pin snapping in place) Click.
5:14 Lovely.
5:17 This cable will feed in here.
5:20 Uh oh. Will it not fit
5:23 with the power supply already in there? Maybe if I use the split feed,
5:27 the split end through. Yeah, that works.
5:31 Oof, I almost had to deduct points there. This is gonna be a difficult wiring.
5:38 Wow that's tight. Yeah, so I guess my one complaint now
5:42 is that with this cooler on there is no seeing any of the wiring.
5:47 And getting the fan back on there is non-trivial. What do we gotta get in here?
5:51 We need to get the.. - [Brandon] 24 pin?
5:55 - Yeah 24 pin has access. I'm thinking more. We've got RGB to plug in
5:59 the power header is - [Jono] I don't think that's a RGB fan.
6:04 - No it isn't, but there's RGB, there's a plug up here.
6:08 We'll find out what's RGB. Oh this is a bear.
6:12 Oh geez. I hate everything about how tight this is.
6:17 Takin' off took getting hot. Lttstore.com
6:21 not anymore. At least on my head. Okay, so these first screws are always hard
6:26 because you're pushing against the IO shield. Once you get the two easy to access ones in
6:30 then you do the hard ones. So that's in, let's do big power cable.
6:36 Ah I do like how there's room underneath
6:41 where the hard drive's gonna sit to jam all your cables.
6:45 We're gonna have to get one in there for SATA. There are so many ports on this thing,
6:50 you will not run out power options. I forgot to mention,
6:54 look at all the pre-done cable management. Now, this one I'm gonna wrap up and zip tie here
6:59 but if you wanna run down and around
7:03 particularly for the smaller cables, easy.
7:06 So I'm gonna loosen this cable bundle here.
7:09 So upfront we have one USB 3.1.
7:12 So that's the 10 gig USB-C. Then we have two 3.0s,
7:17 headphone and microphone ports, separately.
7:20 Reset and power, so ample IO up front. You can get other accessories,
7:24 so if you want to get a side panel, that's not glass,
7:27 you can buy that. You can do glass on I think both sides actually.
7:31 I mean, if you're really proud of your cable management, you could do that.
7:35 Okay fine, I'll follow some of their handy dandy cable management.
7:40 So we've been doing some wiring. Now, they say it can fit a 200 millimeter long power supply
7:45 which it can, this is 160 mil. But if you try to use the stock placement
7:51 for this hard drive sled, you end up hitting these plugs.
7:56 Not great. Now, you can just move it over a little
8:01 and with a little bit of finesse there is another slot for it
8:05 but where these cables come out, hits the tray.
8:08 So, we're gonna just have to wrangle these guys kind of up.
8:13 I mean, that'll go back, that's fine. But then can also, can we still fit the hard drive?
8:19 Oh yeah, yeah there's room. Okay. Now it's time for (imitating trumpet fanfare)
8:25 a 3080 Tuf. So, there are three bay slots back here
8:31 all without a frame, which is nice. These it's the top two we're gonna be using
8:35 that's right. Wow, there's like nothing going on up here.
8:40 - [Brandon] Air flow. - Air flow is going on. That's right.
8:43 It like makes this neat little wind tunnel straight into it.
8:47 I think this will actually perform really good. We've got an exhaust fan right behind the cooler,
8:52 we've got fresh air coming in. It can get, actually, and it'll pull fresh air up as well.
8:56 By moving the power supply up to the top, we can use the bottom as an intake.
9:00 So, it'll work just fine in theory. I'll be very curious what the performance numbers will be.
9:05 Unfortunately, we can't do that on ShortCircuit. Okay. GPU in, we need GPU power.
9:10 Few things to note, at least for my future build in this case hopefully.
9:13 All the fan headers are sitting up against the top of the case here, right under the power supply.
9:18 So we had to remove the motherboard again, slide it back,
9:21 put the fan headers in, and move it up. So, you're only gonna be doing the fans once.
9:25 Do it ahead of time. Open up these cable management loops.
9:31 Well, this is about the level of cable management I expected.
9:34 Great on Fractals part, bad on mine. A hundred percent me.
9:38 And after all of that cable management in here,
9:43 I wouldn't say my finest work by any stretch but let's start putting the panels back on.
9:46 So this is the good part. Might be one of those bottom hingey boys.
9:50 There we go.
9:54 Okay. Okay. Am I derping? Yeah okay, it just goes over the back,
9:58 that's all.
10:04 The all important peel time.
10:09 We forgot the inside peel.
10:15 They did include a support bracket. We didn't use it,
10:19 but it's there. Look how we have full access to the GPU.
10:22 There are these cable management wires here, so when you actually do run your cable up
10:27 or all of these cables you can cable manage out, which is really nice.
10:31 I think that's a nice feature. That's nice, right? You know, you get all your cables in there.
10:37 Aye, it does look good in white. I think this with an RGB fan would be pretty cool.
10:42 They do have an RGB fan version. Look at the front of that thing.
10:45 And it's quiet too, like...
10:49 I think this thing looks great and I'm definitely gonna get one,
10:52 just not in white. So with that, thanks for watching the ShortCircuit.
10:56 If you like any of the parts you saw on this video go check out the link below
10:59 and of course get subscribed to ShortCircuit. Maybe check out the Meshify C case
11:02 we did from Fractal as well. And I'll see you later.
