0:00 so we were in the middle of trying to film something where we showed off the
0:04 uh benchmarks that we ran for Far Cry 3 where we had a gForce versus Radon
0:09 Showdown hold on no you're going the wrong way when we were using this
0:13 monitor to showcase the graphs and I was like slick uh you got to you got to use
0:18 like a a more um a more obvious like a darker blue on the graphs because you
0:23 can't really see it on the monitor so here this is the angle that I was
0:28 looking at it from I was like yeah these aren't going to show how are we going to show people what the graphs look like
0:32 and then I got down to I level with it
0:36 and I was like oh okay that is a
0:39 perfectly acceptable blue so the issue appears to be the TN panel having such
0:45 horrendous uh viewing angles that it was
0:49 pretty much unusable so just for lws we took an IPS panel this is a pro art
0:55 monitor so for contrast this is a 120 HZ
0:59 TN which is about the worst case scenario for a TN in terms of color
1:02 accuracy and viewing angles because of the way that they have to overclock the
1:06 panels in order to get them to respond so quickly and then this is a color
1:11 calibrated 60 HZ IPS which is pretty
1:14 much the other end of the spectrum so would love to get some different angles
1:18 on here so slick come on over here and get them from sort of the side so you
1:23 can see that what is supposed to be down
1:26 down down what is supposed to be blue
1:29 actually appears to be brown and
1:32 um and uh yeah I mean the difference is
1:37 so is so Stark even going from sort of
1:41 like a viewing spot of about here to about here that that there's a
1:46 noticeable noticeable difference if you're not looking exactly straight on
1:51 with the uh with the TN panel so you know guys if you don't believe what I
1:56 say about how TN panels are for color
2:00 reproduction as well as viewing angle just so inferior to their to their PLS
2:06 uh IPS and VA counterparts hopefully
2:09 this is a bit of an illustration for you of what would be a worst case scenario
2:13 so what is a TN panel like this good for
2:17 couple things number one is 3D you cannot run 3D unless you can get 120 HZ
2:24 uh refresh rates and unless you have a fast enough response time to prevent any
2:28 motion blur or not motion blur well motion blur as well cuz that can wreak
2:33 havoc on 3D gaming um as well as cross
2:36 talk between the left and right stereo images so you have to have a super fast
2:40 panel the other thing that a fast panel is good for is 2D well okay 3D gaming
2:44 but not stereo 3D gaming where you need
2:47 that you need that responsiveness from the monitor you want to have that extra
2:52 Edge compared to someone else who's using a 60 HZ monitor because it will
2:56 actually show you the image faster so if you're playing twitch games where you
3:00 need every last millisecond then this would be useful and if you're running in
3:04 Stereo 3D then this would be useful otherwise do yourself a big huge favor
3:09 and get an IPS vaa or PLS panel because
3:13 I think you guys have seen what the contrast between these Technologies
3:17 looks like again a very extreme sort of version of it thanks for watching lus
