0:00 so Lenovo approached us about sponsoring a piece showcasing their new Lenovo Yoga
0:05 book it's a thin light Android tablet with high-end specs including an Intel
0:09 Atom Processor 64 gigs of storage and 4 gigs of RAM and a touch sensitive haptic
0:15 keyboard that they call the Halo keyboard which serves two functions when
0:19 you want to type a standard keyboard layout illuminates and you get this
0:23 haptic feedback as you type in place instead of using physical buttons and
0:27 when you prefer to take notes draw or even color the keyboard vanishes
0:32 completely and you use a stylus in this case one with 248 pressure levels called
0:37 the real pen that lets you draw and even
0:41 write on paper having it instantly digitized it's a totally unique piece of
0:45 technology and once again as I was watching my kids break it in for me I
0:51 found myself thinking the world they growing up in is so different from the
0:56 one that I did and here are nine reasons
0:59 why
1:09 number one when I was little my parents had to hang on to physical copies of my
1:15 let's generously use the term artwork if
1:18 they wanted to preserve them for the benefit of future humil excuse me odd
1:23 Generations yeah my dad actually hold held on to this for years apparently and
1:28 gave it to me as a gift for my 30 th birthday I love my parents but they're a
1:32 little uh weird sometimes and if you've ever had a kid in preschool you'll know
1:37 that this creates some significant logistical issues though most folks
1:42 figure out a solution because it sure beats admitting that you lost it why did
1:46 you lose it modern kids have a multitude
1:49 of amazing tools to make life much easier and eliminate excuses nothing can
1:54 ever be lost under the fridge again
1:57 mostly number two in inviting kids over to play was a totally different matter I
2:02 mean this was considered a legitimate form of communication do you want to
2:06 come over and play nowadays no one even blinks when your four-year-old is
2:10 texting his group chat to organize a play date number three taking pictures
2:16 is so much better now do you know what I would have given to be able to see in
2:20 such clear detail what exactly it was I was capturing not to mention the instant
2:26 gratification and viewfinders being only an approximate representation of the
2:30 framing was the tip of the iceberg so darn it we kept our photos Because by
2:36 the time we got them we'd invested so much into getting them no matter how
2:40 blurry or poorly composed they were oh
2:43 God number four coloring books weren't
2:47 so trendy I mean sure kids liked them
2:50 but parents for the most part seemed to have other things on their minds not so
2:55 today number five and I'm actually not sure who had it better for this one when
3:00 I screwed up at a little league sporting event I lost the game and I didn't get
3:04 to go for pizza after nowadays it seems
3:08 like everyone gets a prize regardless of skill or actual results so I guess
3:13 that's pretty cool but my generation never had to worry about our mistakes
3:17 turning us into minor internet celebrities number six when I was little
3:22 we had stupid fads that consumed all of our pocket money I mean come on all you
3:28 30-year-olds raise your hand and if you didn't boast in the schoolyard about
3:32 your new Slammer at some point or another with that said at least when we
3:37 bought useless crap at least we got physical useless crap though number
3:43 seven physical isn't always an
3:49 advantage this is a big improvement
3:52 though I will say that rage quitting loses a little bit of its impact number
3:57 eight the Pokémon experience was totally different when I was a kid people would
4:03 stare at me walking around catching pocket monsters and go kids today faces
4:08 buried in their screens they don't even look where they're going nowadays hey
4:13 there's a map built right into the game totally different finally number nine
4:19 when I was a kid I think it's fair to say that there was less courage in the
4:23 world sure we had the courage to pay $20
4:27 an hour in batteries to pull the wall plugs out of our boom boxes and even the
4:31 courage to play music wirelessly on the go but we drew the line at headphones no
4:39 it would take another 25 years for someone to have that kind of Courage
4:44 that is to say 25 plus however much longer it takes so thank you for
4:49 watching guys huge shout out to Lenovo for sponsoring this video and providing
