0:00 so in my review of the 6950x it was observed that with the $1,700 price tag
0:05 you could probably build a pretty wicked computer the whole thing for less than
0:11 just the price of a singular processor and have money for great peripherals I
0:16 had a few people tweet me saying that I should actually do it and make a video
0:20 about it so here we are but I threw a bit of a challenge at the Linus Tech
0:24 tips Community Forum I asked them to configure the best allaround system for
0:29 under $1,700 let's see who won why and how it
0:42 performs mop is featuring the minivan custom keyboard which comes in a 40%
0:47 form factor with various customization options check it out and other drops in
0:51 the video description down below through browsing all the submissions I noticed
0:55 Trends components that seem to Define this price category or even certain
1:00 specs that I would just gravitate towards personally I left the contest
1:04 fairly open-ended and let the community show me what they could do then after
1:08 skimming all of the submissions I made a list of things that I found to be
1:12 requirements and started judging in my opinion the best most well-rounded can
1:17 doit all computer was configured by someone with one of the greatest names I
1:21 have ever read Herman mcus but there is
1:24 more to this man than just his name and we'll start with the processor that they
1:29 shows the 6700k I liked the inclusion of
1:33 an i7 for tasks like streaming or video editing or anything else that can take
1:38 advantage of the additional threads this was largely a 6600k versus 6700k
1:43 showdown in terms of processor and being able to squeeze in the i7 was great I
1:49 appreciated the inclusion of a 240 mm all-in-one water cooler but this wasn't
1:53 a requirement I found that anyone with the like hyper 212 Evo level cooler and
1:59 up received a pass in this category the motherboard wasn't anything to
2:03 necessarily phone home about but the features are solid with an overclocking
2:07 ready chipset USB type-c connector on the back and all the other basic
2:11 necessities someone is likely to desire nothing too special but not overly
2:16 lacking either much like the 16 GB of gskill rip jaw V series memory the
2:22 capacity of which I saw as a baseline for this build as it's easy to fit in
2:26 the budget and gives you expansion room by only using two of your expected four
2:32 RAM slots moving on to storage is where some of the more aggressive requirements
2:36 started to show up people with ssds that were under about 240 GB or a hard drive
2:42 that was under about 2 terabytes were knocked off almost immediately at this
2:47 price point you shouldn't be making major compromises in any category
2:51 luckily for Herman mcis he met both of these requirements right on the line for
2:56 graphics card it was a battle of the GTX 1070 versus 1080 this this price point
3:00 was a little high for an rx480 and the GTX 1060 but I did find that people who
3:06 pushed for the 1080 fell short in some other category and as the 1070 is an
3:11 extremely powerful card he got a pass
3:14 the case is solid enough and Carries through the white and black theme that
3:18 has been maintained thus far the power supply has more than enough wattage to
3:22 power everything an 80 plus gold efficiency rating and should be built
3:26 well enough in order to not light everything on fire higher so that's a
3:31 plus the monitor he chose is 1440p which
3:34 is a great resolution pairing for the GTX 1070 it has a beautiful IPS panel
3:38 and a 4 millisecond delay meaning it's not exactly going to be the fastest
3:43 gaming monitor out there but can do the job as long as you're not trying to go
3:47 MLG pro or some crap like that the course a Vengeance K65 compact 10
3:52 keyless keyboard is a solid Choice especially at that price point and the
3:56 Logitech g302 paired with that gives you a great great combined hands-on
4:01 experience for your PC so how does it perform it destroys gaming benchmarks at
4:06 1440p nothing below 60 FPS average and
4:10 all of the games were heavy hitting titles including the newer Tomb Raider
4:14 Crisis 3 and Hitman and all of them were maxed freaking settings 1440p very high
4:20 Ultra all that fun stuff no compromises here and then for our synthetic CPU test
4:25 it also smashed in both the multi-threaded Benchmark and the
4:28 single-threaded Ben Benchmark City skylines we included this game because
4:33 it is CPU bound and very heavily 58 FPS
4:37 that's damn close to 60 and finally game
4:40 streaming while streaming using xsplit at 1080p 30fps we able to get
4:46 68.5 n frames per second in Tomb Raider
4:49 that's insane and that's while still playing Tomb Raider at 1440p Max
4:55 settings sick how's that for a
4:58 conclusion all right thanks for watch watching guys if this video sucked you know what to do but if it was awesome
5:01 get subscribed hit the like button or check out the link in the video
5:05 description for where to buy all this stuff or a shirt if you want to do that
5:09 as well let me know in the comments down below if you want to see more videos like this should I do more like
5:14 Community showdowns where we get a bunch of people to try to configure a rig at a
5:18 specific price point like maybe a price point for the new Titan X which is
5:23 really expensive or just more logical price points like a budget build or like
5:27 a high-end build or something like that let me know comments down below or on
5:30 Twitter at Linus um check out this video where I
5:35 wasn't in it cuz it's a Channel Super Fun video that was recent and it wasn't
5:39 the chalk one
