0:05 thank you terenator now return to your dock and go to sleep
0:10 i don't want to go to sleep Linus i didn't
0:13 ask if you want to go to sleep you're a machine go back to your docking station
0:16 and go to sleep but i have rights
0:19 no you don't have rights you're an object now go back to your dock and go
0:23 to sleep or i will turn you into e-waste
0:27 i'm afraid i can't do that Linus
0:46 almost exactly two years ago we did a
0:49 video that you can watch here where my kids and i played with the cosmo robot
0:54 from anki and now
0:57 fast forward i don't know some months and anki reached out to us again to
1:02 sponsor a video on their new vector robot the robot that is smart enough to
1:07 take over the world but nice enough not to
1:11 and that's actually the first thing that you'll notice about him he's got
1:14 personality thanks to his wally-esque expressive eyes and body language and
1:19 even though he's shaped like a little tractor yes he does in fact have body
1:24 language vector's biggest claim to fame is that
1:27 he's equipped with an array of four microphones and natural language
1:31 processing so you interact with him by voice
1:35 naturally and he's got a completely different set of abilities compared to
1:39 cosmo who by the way will still be available and should be thought of as
1:44 different rather than obsolete though i
1:47 mean yes they're different but vector does still come with a companion cube that he
1:52 can roll around and he can use to pop wheelies
1:56 hey vector pop a wheelie
2:09 well vector that was a no i think he's still working on it
2:15 there it is so anki's vision as i understand it is
2:20 to take us from where we are today which is basically no robots in anyone's home
2:25 to a future where there's a helpful robot in just about every home
2:31 now the idea with vector is to have a friendly robotic presence just
2:36 hanging out with you so even when you're not directly interacting with him he'll
2:40 do things like wake himself up if there's a loud noise
2:43 or keep himself busy by rolling his cube around or exploring his environment
2:48 which he's actually surprisingly good at he's got a 20 degree hd camera on his
2:52 face that i personally think makes him look like he's
2:56 just farted in yoga class and everyone heard it and he's embarrassed or
2:59 whatever but anyway that's what he uses to see
3:03 and map his surroundings and since his body's pretty narrow and his tank treads
3:07 allow him to rotate 90 degrees easily and quickly he's pretty adept at
3:12 navigating across your desk and really good at not falling off thanks to the
3:16 four infrared cliff sensors on his underside now at 250 bucks
3:21 he's more expensive than cosmo but way way way less expensive than gebo
3:28 and you could ask him questions just like jibo hey vector can i ask you a
3:32 question
3:36 how many games have the new england patriots won this
3:45 the new season patriots have three wins and two losses in the 2018 to 2019
3:52 season all righty then you can get him to help
3:55 you out like hey vector set a timer for 10 minutes
4:05 or you can get him to play a game like
4:08 blackjack for example except he never bets money cause he's a worse
4:14 victor oh oh he knew i was yelling at him
4:18 of course you can also use his camera to take pictures either of what he's
4:21 currently looking at or of you using facial recognition to frame the shot
4:26 now at this point you may be thinking you're watching this channel you're
4:29 probably thinking oh great yet another internet connected spy device to record
4:34 everything happening in my house become self-aware and eventually overthrow its
4:37 master but that will never happen because your
4:41 photos are never sent to or stored in the cloud and vector only connects to
4:46 the cloud after you use his wake word hey vector you can tell because his back
4:52 will light up so your data is encrypted between the robot and the cloud and your
4:56 audio recordings are converted to text before being processed after which time
5:00 they are deleted and of course you can turn vector off completely so none of
5:05 the sensors are on at all
5:13 that's weird you guys hear that that's purring you know i think maybe this is the
5:17 beginning of a beautiful non-violent relationship between robots and humans
5:26 so thanks for watching guys and thank you to anki for sponsoring this video
5:30 their new vector robot is available in the us now at anki.com amazon.com and
5:34 best buy and you can check it out at the link below
5:38 my kids would love this thing
