0:10 to learn more welcome to my unboxing and overview of what must be the ugliest box
0:16 that we have ever encountered here and
0:20 not particularly great packaging either this is the
0:24 sd3500 V and it is a lot more exciting
0:27 than its ugly box and ugly packaging with actually indicate so it is a dock
0:33 and you might go oh man really lonus and I'm like yeah it's a dock so what docks
0:39 are good for is expanding well okay what docks were traditionally used for was
0:44 notebooks would have like these proprietary connectors on the bottom of
0:48 them and then you'd like plug them into these docks and you'd get a bunch of
0:51 extra I/O well nowadays docks are a little bit different so this one right
0:56 here uses a single USB 3 Connection so
1:00 there it is right there on the back USB 3 and it adds a butt ton of IO to your
1:05 Ultra Book HDMI DVI Ethernet and four
1:09 USB 2.0 ports so why do we need this and
1:12 the answer is well because notebooks have just completely forgotten about IO
1:19 so this notebook right here is a 15.4 in model from Vio it's super slim super
1:26 sexy and has super HDMI out and two USB
1:31 3 ports and that is it it is incredibly
1:34 frustrating to not be able to plug in like almost anything to it at a time by
1:39 the time you plug in a mouse and like a USB drive you you can't plug in your
1:44 card reader and then you you're just kind of stuck so this one adds all of
1:48 that more like permanently attached Dio at the back so you can walk in plug in
1:53 the single USB 3B cable so it looks a
1:57 little something like this then you plug in that single C to your notebook and
2:01 then you'll have all this io on the back so your keyboard and mouse and
2:04 peripherals can all be already set up and it actually adds two USB 3 super
2:09 speed ports on the front it should be noted guys remember this is not made of
2:13 magic so there's a single 5 gbit per second connection to your PC so
2:19 everything here is going to be sharing it so if you were to hammer everything
2:22 at the same time it would slow down but there's two USB 3 ports at the front as
2:26 well as front panel headphones and microphone in which can be another
2:31 frustrating thing about many Ultrabooks these days is that they're using those
2:35 ah yes the headphone microphone combo
2:38 Jack so if you don't happen to have a device and you don't happen to have an
2:42 adapter or that's inconvenient for you then you can go ahead and do this so
2:46 there you go guys multim monitor output it comes with some adapters and stuff I
2:50 guess so you can you have to plug it into Power because there's a bunch of
2:53 stuff in there including a USB to Ethernet Bridge as well as a USB sound
2:58 card as well as a USB 2 video adapter
3:01 and it comes with a couple of other adapters as well so depending on what
3:05 kind of outputs you have on your notebook it'll allow you to ad oh cool
3:09 it comes with a DVI to HDMI adapter those are handy and then it also comes
3:12 with a DVI to VGA adapter so depending on what all you've got going on in terms
3:17 of your external peripherals you should be able to plug in pretty much whatever you want is this the only device that
3:23 does this thing the answer is no it's not in fact there are many devices that
3:28 do this Kensington just happened to send us one and since we've never unboxed
3:32 anything like this before I was like okay yeah sure by the way this is uh
3:35 appears to be dvii which is great that means you can even plug into a VGA
3:39 monitor if your computer again modern
3:42 slim laptops just HDMI which has no
3:45 analog pins inside it can be very handy thank you for checking out my unboxing
