0:00 Linus Tech tips coverage of CES 2014 is brought to you by nc.com your source for
0:05 great technology selection and service along with Corsair memory and Western
0:09 Digital ldpc that might not sound like much but it's one of the features that
0:14 is going to set apart the SX 930 SSD and
0:19 any other SSD product that is based on the upcoming San Force third generation
0:24 so this is the 3700 series controller so
0:27 what ldpc refers to is an enhanced error
0:31 correction algorithm that goes along with the enhanced encryption as well as
0:36 enhanced performance and enhanced features basically it's better in every
0:40 possible way they have a working sample here in the suite but other than that we
0:45 don't know too much about it they are quoting that it's capable of up to 1,800
0:49 megabytes per second of sustained performance with incompressible data
0:54 something we're not really used to seeing with a sand Force controller and
0:58 we also know that it natively supports both sata3 interfaces as well as PCI
1:04 Express interfaces giving you the flexibility to deploy it as a PCIe
1:08 add-in card or even in an M2 or ngff
1:12 type of form factor which can go directly on a motherboard or in a small
1:15 form factor notebook now this one right here is a 2 terabyte model so we could
1:20 also be looking at some increased capacity availability as well but what
1:24 we also know for certain is they're not showing any performance numbers yet and
1:28 we could be looking at a few more months before you can actually buy one of these
1:31 babies not all futuristic SSD technology
1:35 is all about highest per the highest performance possible this is the XU 41
1:40 which is a full SSD built into a single
1:44 package here so it could be soldered into something like uh a tablet for
1:48 example it's not necessarily the highest performance in the world capable of
1:51 about 20,000 random iops but you get
1:55 capacities up to 128 gigs and significantly better performance than
1:59 you would be able to if you weren't using a proper SSD controller in spite
2:03 of its extremely small form factor next up we have ah yes working ddr4 samples
2:10 no motherboard to put them in so yeah
2:14 but there they are we have both and 8 gig and a 16 gig module to show you guys
2:20 this one right here has 288 pins it runs at ddr4 2133 which isn't that impressive
2:26 for now we're expecting to see better by the time it actually launches and that's
2:29 at cl15 so the timings are quite loose but there you have it guys it is working
2:34 apparently but of course we can't show it working because motherboards I've
2:38 been saying for quite some time that one of the ways that I personally shop for
2:41 PC components as long as I'm buying from a trusted brand that has good warranty
2:45 support and all that stuff is uh color
2:48 so ad data has attached to that idea
2:51 pretty strongly here and they have updated the xpg V2 memory module kit
2:57 lineup to now contain many different colors including some ones that I'm
3:01 particularly excited about such as their matte black and matte white spreaders
3:05 but they also have some pretty outlandish stuff as well so you can
3:09 match up to your build pretty much no matter what your build happens to look
3:13 like so we've got a pretty sweet uh purple anodized inwind system and this
3:18 is actually the one that is running the live demo of the X SX 930 SSD featuring
3:24 that San Force 3700 series controller I
3:27 talked about before guys don't miss any of our coverage here at CES 2014
3:32 remember our trip to the show is powered by nc.com your source for great
3:35 technology selection and Service as well as Corsair memory and Western Digital
3:41 huge thanks to those guys because without them we wouldn't be able to be
3:44 here
