0:00 so is this is this like a tech news show thing
0:04 Colton you've hosted techlink before uh what linked do i need to sign a waiver
0:09 oh boy it's an exciting day as AMD's third generation ryzen cpus have been
0:14 released five models are hitting store shelves initially ranging from the six
0:18 core 12 thread ryzen 5 3600 up to the 12
0:22 core 24 thread ryzen 9 3900 x with the
0:26 16 core model coming in september the entire ryzen 3rd gen family uses the 7
0:31 nanometer manufacturing process which is a first for desktop consumer cpus and
0:36 will also increase performance while decreasing power consumption early
0:40 reviews including the one from our sister channel Linus tech tips were very
0:44 positive as the new ryzen ships best Intel in quite a few categories and
0:48 offer excellent value for money though they still lag behind just a bit in
0:52 single threaded performance but it's cool to see how AMD has risen to the
0:57 challenge and is really putting pressure on Intel
1:01 you know rising up yeah we got to get rid of that joke
1:05 it's over keeping it it's over never
1:09 you've probably told an app at some point that it doesn't have permission to collect certain kinds of data but
1:13 unsurprisingly many of them do anyway a recent study indicated over a thousand
1:18 apps on the google play store collected personal data even after users set the
1:23 apps not to do that that's scary apparently the researchers that
1:27 conducted the study alerted google to the problems last fall and google in
1:31 turn promised to address these problems in Android q by making it tougher for
1:35 apps to get their hands on whatever information they want although the
1:38 offending apps are only a small fraction of what's available in the play store
1:42 some of those apps are quite popular much of the shared data was tied to
1:45 geolocation so hopefully your crazy ex didn't decide to become an app developer
1:50 recently because it can be quite lucrative
1:59 yeah oh no yeah i know i got to watch out
2:04 app developers yep there aren't many things that are more
2:08 annoying than autoplaying video unexpectedly screeching at you when
2:11 you're trying to read an article but google thinks that they might have the
2:14 solution to this ever so pressing societal problem the software giant is
2:18 looking at adding a feature to the chrome browser that would allow you to
2:21 control any video on the page from the address bar and stop any offending video
2:26 without having to hunt for it on the page the feature is currently in beta
2:30 testing and reportedly doesn't work perfectly but if you're curious you can
2:34 try it out by downloading the latest version of the canary browser which is
2:37 chrome's dev version i think an easier solution would be just to stop baking
2:41 auto playing videos into web pages but i'd also like world peace it'll be a
2:45 while before they add that as a chrome feature
2:48 yeah this is serious okay
2:52 now it's time for the quick bits brought to you by madrina's coffee and the
2:56 organic cold brew coffee in a convenient 15 ounce can with a flavor for everyone
3:01 like the LTT cold brew that we got here madrinus offers sweet and creamy flavors
3:06 like mocha and caramel or bold flavors like their cold brew black we even got
3:10 our own LTT exclusive vanilla cold brew which is sweet it's beautiful then of
3:14 course there's the LTT roast a brilliant blend of medium roasted latin america
3:19 and african coffee beans with a sweet chocolatey flavor a huge bold body and a
3:24 smooth caramel finish that says to smell back i don't have the
3:27 back here beautiful
3:30 smells like victory what who writes this so go check it out at LMG dot gg slash
3:37 tl coffee and use offer code Linus at
3:40 checkout to get 40 off your entire order
3:43 huawei is reportedly developing its own hongmeng os in case continuing sanctions
3:48 from the united states mean that it can't use Android on its phones however
3:52 huawei has claimed that its os will probably be 60 faster than Android that's pretty fast
3:58 even if that's true it's anyone's guess as to whether it'll catch on or go the
4:02 way of the hd dvd that was a big oof
4:05 yeah oof oof remember those yeah i do actually they're terrible amazon wants
4:09 to launch over 3 000 satellites into orbit in order to provide internet
4:14 service and has just asked the fcc for permission to do so the hope is to cover
4:18 about 95 of the world population with ka
4:22 band internet connectivity which is quicker than previous implementations of
4:26 satellite internet three thousand satellites is a lot but spacex is
4:30 planning to launch nearly four times as many by the mid-2020s hopefully whomever
4:35 wins the race to blanket the earth and satellites won't use their powers to
4:38 track out what we're likely to buy on amazon but who are we kidding did you
4:41 say whomever whomever messiah good sir
4:46 yes amazon prime day is just around the corner and while its distribution
4:50 centers around the us will certainly be busy one location looks like it will be
4:54 bracing for a strike workers at an amazon warehouse in minnesota will be
4:57 striking for six hours on prime day to draw attention to the desire for more
5:02 permanent job opportunities amazon hasn't commented but their large number
5:06 of fulfillment centers should prevent the strike from having a huge impact
5:10 good for us shoppers terrible for them
5:13 facebook is fighting a never-ending war against fake news but it turns out that
5:17 it has one program it developed to fight fake news about itself dubbed storm
5:22 chaser the software keeps an eye out for people making untrue claims about
5:26 facebook and even sending out messages to respond in some cases while it's
5:31 understandable for them to want to protect their brand image some have criticized the company for not instead
5:35 diverting the resources to fight fake news about more sensitive topics like
5:40 politics i wonder what stormchaser would think of the claims that zuck is
5:44 actually a robot or what if stormchaser is zuck
5:50 yeah that's good and as common as offensive comments are on instagram
5:54 users may soon have a powerful tool to cut down on harassment the company is
5:58 testing a shadow banning feature that will hide in offending users comments
6:02 from everyone but themselves so they won't know that they've been banned the
6:05 feature will be officially called restricting and is one of instagram's
6:09 many recent attempts to curb harassment because asking people to be excellent to
6:13 each other is like asking Android and iOS fans to get along
6:16 i was never talking to another hey do you use an Android i hate you
6:21 no i'm an Android guy oh thank goodness
6:24 that's our show so come back on wednesday where we promise to only make
6:28 you feel good about yourself with the tech news this is a tech news show
6:33 yes right got it gotta get it cool you do have to sign a waiver though oh okay
6:37 sign your life away love when they say that sign your life away you're like no thanks no one says that all right uh
6:42 like it hold on we got any more stuff no that's it okay cool like the video see
6:45 ya
