0:10 check the link in the video description for more details welcome to my unboxing and overview of
0:15 the steelseries 3h v2 gaming headset now
0:19 i normally don't really talk about prices in my videos but i should mention
0:23 that this one is 39.99 so it's around 40 bucks so
0:28 adjust your expectations if you're expecting this to be the most like
0:33 cinematic sounding like awesomest audiophile pair of headphones ever in
0:38 the world then sort of think again but what it is
0:41 it is is it is what i'd consider kind of like um
0:45 i don't know what to call it without it sounding sort of condescending but like like baby's first gaming headphones
0:51 so if you've never used a proper pair of gaming headphones and you're not used to
0:54 the features that you might find on a pair of gaming headphones this will be a
0:58 darn sight better than most else that you'll find in this kind of a price
1:02 range the other thing that i'd consider it perfect for is as like a secondary
1:06 pair of headphones that you use for traveling because it folds up extremely
1:10 tight and it's the kind of thing where because of its flexibility you wouldn't
1:14 worry too much about breaking it and because of its price you
1:17 wouldn't worry too much about breaking it so there's both of those things going
1:21 for it it also has a fair bit of flexibility in terms of the connectors
1:25 that are included this is something steel series has started doing over the last little while here that i actually
1:30 really like so they include an adapter you've either you can either plug
1:33 directly into your pc so it's got a nice feels actually quite good orange rubber
1:38 coated cord should be quite anti-tangle as well and
1:42 then they've actually got two little pieces here that plug in so they've got
1:45 little labels on them there's the corresponding headphone thing so you put
1:49 those together and then the microphone symbols together and boom you've adapted
1:52 it to a 4-pole so you can use it with your mobile device or with your computer
1:57 which i think is quite neat it has inline volume control as well as an
2:00 inline mic mute it's very clearly labeled so mic off
2:04 the mic on just like that volume up and down just like that it's a little bit on
2:08 the bulkier side but i guess you expect that with the more cost effective as
2:12 they like to say options like the 3h v2
2:16 and then the headphones themselves are quite lightweight quite small
2:20 so if you wear an xl size motorcycle helmet for example you might not find
2:23 these are quite optimal for you and you can tell that they're going to sit on
2:26 your ears a little bit as opposed to completely around your ears because the
2:30 ear cups are a little bit on the smaller side as well just like their siberia
2:34 series you've got sort of a couple you've got like a support brace and then
2:38 you've got a separate piece of padding that has got kind of a pleathery
2:41 material on it just like that and then the ear cups themselves also have like
2:46 a synthetic leather material feeling stuff on it it's better than some of the
2:50 synthetic leather i've encountered that has a very plasticky feel but it's
2:53 certainly not quite the real deal so let's go ahead and put them on oh this
2:58 is unusual left side is here so the
3:01 cable actually comes out of the right side that's a little bit a little bit
3:04 different i haven't often seen that in the past so they're adjustable like this
3:08 go ahead and adjust them as needed uh like i said they're not huge so i
3:13 actually have them adjusted to the max in order to have maybe not quite max
3:17 maybe i'll go one click down and it's not the best adjustment mechanism that
3:21 i've ever encountered but again this is a fairly low cost pair of headphones so
3:24 let's go ahead and oh yeah i think we got it now there we go so it sits on
3:28 your ears like that there's actually a fair bit of passive noise cancellation
3:31 or passive noise blocking noise isolation that's the word
3:35 i'm looking for from these headphones and part of that is due to the use of
3:39 the synthetic leather material as opposed to a more open mesh type of
3:43 material this is the feature that is going to be
3:46 the sort of rockum sockham you didn't see this one coming one and that's the
3:50 retractable microphone right here so most headsets in this kind of a price
3:54 range aren't going to have features like that they'll either have like um an
3:58 inline mic that's attached to sort of like a thing down here or they'll have
4:02 like kind of an awkward boom mic or something that's detachable that you can
4:05 lose i really love the retractable microphone thing it's one of the things
4:08 that i've always liked about steelseries headsets and now they've brought that
4:11 feature down to the 3 hv2 you can adjust it wherever you need to with its nice
4:16 little flexible snake cord it doesn't feel as good as the one on my 7h
4:20 obviously but it should be quite functional for you and you can just tuck
4:24 it back away like that i think that's
4:28 pretty much it um i hope i must be talking really really
4:32 loud right now it actually does isolate noise uh quite well so in terms of cable length
4:37 you should be able to reach around to the back of your computer give your computer the old reach around you know
4:41 what i mean um but not not not that long
4:45 so i would probably sort of mostly aim to plug this into the front of your
4:49 computer but in a pinch if you keep your tower on the right it
4:52 might be able to make it back there so i think that pretty much wraps it up thank
4:56 you for checking out my unboxing and overview of the steelseries 3h v2 gaming
5:02 headset don't forget to subscribe to Linus tech tips for more unboxings
5:05 reviews and other computer videos and i guess i did miss one thing if you really
5:09 do have trouble with that then they've included this guide
5:14 for how to plug these things in
5:18 as far as documentation goes i don't know i don't know if that's the most impressive i've ever seen but yeah it's
5:23 all good you shouldn't need documentation for that anyway don't
5:26 forget to like the video if you liked it don't forget to dislike it if you disliked it and leave me a comment let
5:30 me know where do you think the target market is for this would you recommend this to
5:34 someone more as like a secondary pair of headphones or would you recommend this
5:38 to someone as like i said sort of their their their first gaming headset
