0:05 referred to as the cameraman since I'd lack another nickname for someone
0:09 operating a camera so today we're going to be unboxing the prolimatech
0:12 Armageddon CPU Cooler this is for socket 1366 and 1156 motherboards it's uh
0:18 without sacrificing space I'm not sure exactly what that means but it comes
0:22 with 100% brwn I actually saw this
0:26 package on our Shelf and I was like yeah I got to unbox that because it is an
0:30 exceptionally cool package they've got their Armageddon branding here with
0:34 their Flames coming off of it and then they've got their uh silvery kind of
0:39 shiny logo on here it looks really cool it kind of looks like a smiling guy like
0:43 there's his unibrow and there's his eyes and nose and mouth and then you pull
0:48 this off somehow it actually has instructions here so you flip and lift
0:53 so why don't we do that actually let's have a quick look at the specs first so
0:56 we've got the heat SN Dimensions here which you can probably read as long as
1:00 as the camera is focusing all right today it comes with aluminum fins lead
1:03 free solder on all the contact points it's made of copper for the heat pipes
1:07 and base and it is nickel plated on the heat pipes and base and then the fins
1:11 are aluminum so they don't need to be nickel plated it weighs 750 G without a
1:15 fan so that's almost 2 lb hanging off your CPU socket and thanan compatibility
1:20 is 140 mm x 140 mm by 25 mm so we
1:25 flip and then lift ooh oh look at this you can actually see
1:31 through a window you can see the prolimatech uh logo just like that okay
1:37 but we don't need that anymore okay so we just slide everything out all in sort
1:41 of one go here and then the first thing we find is a user's manual so this shows
1:47 all of the stuff that comes with the Armageddon as well as uh little
1:52 illustration okay and you got a little list here so you can go through and make
1:55 sure that everything is there then we have the instructions on how to install
2:00 the Armageddon so here it is steps 1 to
2:03 four to six sorry 1 2 3 4 5 six and some
2:08 of these are sort of multiple steps in one but overall the process looks quite
2:12 simple and I wouldn't worry about not being able to do it or anything like
2:15 that so in here we have an accessory
2:19 pack which contains all of the stuff on that list so we've got a prolimatech uh
2:24 thermal compound which looks an awful lot like MX2 so it's probably pretty
2:29 good then we have
2:33 the bracket so these actually go where
2:36 do these go this is an interesting mounting system I'm um I'm not really
2:41 sure I understand why it's so beefy but it's kind of cool I guess because you've
2:46 got like these huge huge aluminum chunks I feel like they're made out of aluminum
2:51 although I could be wrong and then so those go on your CPU socket just like
2:55 that and then you actually have a bolt through and that Hardware is probably
2:59 prob in here that goes all the way through your
3:03 motherboard and then secures somehow so yeah here's some huge uh thumb screws
3:09 and a bunch of other stuff press here okay cool here's a back plate this back
3:14 plate is compatible it looks like with 1156 1366 as well as 775 although they
3:19 don't advertise 775 compatibility on the box so it's possible it doesn't include
3:24 the hold down here we go here's the Armageddon so the first thing you notice
3:28 about it is that this is a natively supporting 140 mm cooler so most of the
3:35 tower heat sinks I've seen in the past are actually quite a bit narrower and
3:38 the reason for that is that they only support 140 mm as an afterthought
3:43 they're a 120 mm heat sink that kind of has Clips on it for 140 mil so this
3:48 wideness is what's going to give you the ability to take all of these heat pipes
3:52 and line them up within each fin within
3:55 each side of the fins so here we've got actually a total of 1 2 3 4 5 six
4:01 standard size heat pipes so these look like 6 mm heat pipes uh they don't look
4:05 like the larger 8mm ones but we've got six of them that are all coming out of
4:10 the base so the ones that go through the middle of the base are actually going
4:14 out to the very outside of the heat sink and there's a very specific reason for
4:17 that and that's because the outside of the heat sink is where you're actually
4:21 going to get the most air flow because of the shape of a Fan's blades so that's
4:25 why all the ones that are at the very outside are actually kind of in the
4:28 Middle where they're not going to be nearly as useful let me see if there's
4:33 something else we can say about it so we got kind of a shiny top on the top and
4:36 you can sort of probably see my face if I can look at the camera in that so it's
4:41 very very very shiny I'll do the obligatory uh finger shot here where you
4:45 can see how reflective it is it's also very flat so when you have this
4:49 installed in your case it's going to look um so you'll B basically be able to
4:53 look at yourself through it we've got the aluminum fins are quite dense
4:58 actually so you're going to want to pick a f that's got reasonably good static
5:01 pressure because some heat sinks will actually have more spacing in between
5:06 the fins now that comes at a cost to Performance because it won't perform
5:11 quite as well but the advantage of having the tight packed fins is that if
5:16 you do have a high pressure fan you can get more performance out of it whereas
5:20 the low density fins if you have a low performance fan then you can actually
5:24 get better performance out of it than a densely tacked fin arranger so I hope
5:30 that wasn't too confusing the camera says no I guess
5:36 um and I think that pretty much wraps up my unboxing of the prolimatech

5:52 of the base so there it is get the angle there you can see the reflection of the
5:56 finger it's not that reflective but it is a slightly bod Bas so you're going to
6:01 get good contact pressure out of it and that is by design that it's not
6:04 completely flat so you never want a lap a heat sink with a bow base I'm just
6:09 kind of guessing it has a bow base based on looking at the reflection of a
6:12 straight line through it and seeing that it has a bit of a a curve to it you
6:16 won't be able to see that in the camera but um I'm pretty sure they would all
6:21 come with one if this one does I hope it wasn't intended to be flat because then
6:24 I sort of have ruined everything now haven't I thank you for watching my blog
