0:00 now I have to confess this unboxing is going to seem like kind of a random one
0:04 because I actually just recently unboxed what is the faster better stronger
0:10 replacement for this particular product the reason I'm unboxing this one is I
0:14 want to do an ncx Tech tips episode comparing the older 300 megabit per
0:19 second version which is this guy right here the Tew 647 GA against the newer
0:25 better 687 GA which is a 450 megabit per
0:29 second w less end product so I'm going
0:32 to start with my unboxing knife by
0:36 breaking the seal along this side of the product here there we go going to open
0:41 that up cuz it's going to be hard for you guys to see what's on this box with
0:44 this glossy shrink wrap covering on it
0:49 okay let's take that off there we go all right so what does trenet have to say
0:52 for themselves about this product well it has a OneTouch setup button LED
0:57 status indicators reset button on the bottom land port and a power connector
1:02 okay my understanding is that the land port on this guy is actually 1000 so
1:05 that's going to be a bit of a performance limiting factor compared to
1:10 the gigabit port on the 687 here's some related products they're
1:15 talking about uh so you can use this they're called a wireless end gaming
1:19 adapter there's nothing particularly gaming about it it can be used for a PC
1:24 or a Wii using a USB adapter or a PS uh
1:28 PS3 Xbox or a PC or television or
1:32 whatever any kind of Ethernet Network enabled device you happen to have so
1:36 Wi-Fi compliant works with BGN devices works with pretty much anything enhances
1:41 performance for online gaming okay all right uh I mean it's probably not better
1:45 than a network connection but you might be better off with this than with you
1:50 know some cheesy uh USB wireless adapter depending on the situation okay so
1:55 they're saying 4X the coverage of G and 12 times the speed of G okay and that's
2:00 pretty much it for the outside of the box so let's open up the box and find
2:04 out what's inside I suspect I already know what's going to be inside probably
2:09 a disc a manual a product an Ethernet cable and a power adapter but let's find
2:13 out just for fun so here is the setup wizard users guide so that's not
2:17 actually a driver's disc so you might want to check that out find out what's
2:21 on there next we have a quick installation guide which is two pages
2:26 long apparently in English oh no no there's a few more pages so they show
2:30 you how to uh connect it to your router set up a password all kinds of good
2:34 stuff in here all right next we find a power adapter as expected an Ethernet
2:40 cable as expected as well as the 647 GA
2:45 now what I didn't expect and then I'm going to like totally show you guys the
2:49 floor of the tech tips room here here's the 687 GA I did not expect the size
2:55 differential here so the huh yeah the
2:58 647 GA is absolutely dwarfed by the 687 GA it's
3:05 like just yeah look look at that I got to like hold these really far away to
3:08 even show you the 687 whereas the 647 is
3:11 like tiny so that's one thing the 647 has going for it it's small size here's
3:16 our Ethernet port here's our power in here's our glossy finish where you can
3:21 see my chest mounted tripod camera setup here is the wireless indicator uh Lan
3:26 indicator as well as power indicator some Trend net branding on the side I
3:30 like their glossy black outsides they're using on their current products versus
3:34 the like cheesy blue ones they had on their old ones these are really nice
3:38 here's our connect button and then on the very bottom there's a little tiny
3:42 pinpoint that's the reset button so unless there's something else in here
3:46 which there isn't thank you for checking out my unboxing of the Tew 647 GA and
3:52 stay tuned for my test of this guy
3:56 versus this guy and what Wireless 450
4:00 megabit per second actually brings to the table over an old Wireless 300
4:06 megabit per second adapter
