today I have an unboxing with a purpose
0:03
this card is going to be used as a comparison point in another video that
0:09
um I guess by the time you see this will probably already be up this is the ASUS
0:13
eah 5770 CU core and I will explain what
0:18
all that means first of all EA means it's an isus graphics card H is
0:24
short for HD because ASUS felt the need to further shorten that and then 577 is
0:30
the actual model so it's a Radeon HD
0:33
5770 CU is the uh sign for the element
0:38
copper and core so it has a cooler with
0:42
up to 5.8 oz of copper rod and it runs
0:46
11% cooler so it means there is a copper slug CU in the cooler for this video
0:52
card and in theory that should help it to run cooler it has 1 gig of gddr5 it
0:58
supports voltage tweaking uh and I think that's pretty much allus
1:03
says about it on the front of the Box this is a direct X11 graphics card I
1:07
believe I've already unboxed a 5770 at one point but uh I no longer have that
1:13
card I needed another 5770 this one is
1:16
extremely popular at NC the store that I
1:19
work at so I figured why not have a look at this one let's see what it comes with
1:23
let's see what the card looks like and uh it should be fun so let's check out
1:29
the accessories first we've got two Molex connectors one PCI Express six pin
1:34
connector well those are all the same connector it's an adapter piece we have
1:38
one crossfire Bridge one DVI to HDMI oh rather that's
1:45
an HDMI to DVI adapter so this card
1:49
actually features native HDMI so the way it achieves dual DVI output is via that
1:54
adapter which is fine uh we have a VGA driver throw it away download the latest
1:58
from the AMD website Gra graphics card multilanguage manual okay so it has a CD
2:02
manual that you might not want to throw away and speed setup so that is
2:06
evidently a quick start guide in a number of different languages okay let's
2:11
have a look at the card itself this is big for a 5770 it's quite a large
2:22
card let go ahead and break the seal
2:25
this is something I've grown very accustomed to here's something I'm not
2:29
accustomed to uh this is a an anti-static bag that
2:33
actually opens from the top of the card rather than opening uh lengthwise I have
2:39
never seen one that does this before for a graphics card oh they're using the
2:45
sexy matte black PCB look at that you
2:49
know I haven't seen that quite this nice
2:53
since uh the XFX 8800 GT their 8800 GTS
2:58
had that that nice matte black PCB with
3:02
the matte black metal accents on it the
3:05
uh the plastic shroud on the CU core cooler is also in like a nice matte
3:11
black ASUS really nailed the aesthetic of this card they really really got it
3:16
this is a dual slot card as you can see so even though there's nothing here the
3:20
fan is dual slot width and it does use a dual PCI back plate this appears to be
3:24
an 80 mm fan you can actually see the copper slug right there and then the uh
3:29
radio in aluminum fins so it is not an
3:32
external exhaust card although you're probably going to get a little bit of incidental air flow from the fan blowing
3:37
heat out here not a ton though uh one
3:40
thing that's kind of weird is the the PC B design actually looks a little bit
3:45
backwards on this guy uh you can see all the power regulation circuitry is over
3:49
here where normally you'd find it next to the power connector at the back of the card it does use one PCIe 6 pin
3:55
power cable to power the card in addition to the slot down here
4:00
yeah that is weird like look how far back on the PCB the GPU is mounted
4:04
here's your RAM chips I'm going to go ahead and assume that there's another yeah there's another four on the other
4:08
side there and uh you've got your one crossfire Bridge right
4:13
connector piece right there like that shiny ASUS logo that's very nice see
4:19
that all right on the back we will find as I mentioned before one DVI one HDMI
4:24
so it does support dual DVI output remember it does do audio via HDMI like
4:30
all HD series cards it has a VGA connector just in case you're still
4:34
running a very old Monitor and it runs off a standard PCI Express 16x interface
4:40
thank you for checking out the unboxing
4:43
that I did today of the assus CU core
4:47
version of their radon
4:51
5770 graphics card
