this is the Kingston hyperx fan I was
0:04
not expecting to receive one of these in the mail but I did so now we're going to
0:08
be doing an unboxing memory is not included which Kingston so helpfully
0:12
points out right on the front this is one of the sharper looking memory fans
0:15
that I've seen we'll have a closer look at it when I get it open but let's have
0:18
a quick look at the specs which we'll find on the back features are maximize
0:22
your performance potential with hyperx memory and probably any other memory
0:26
twin fans direct air flow onto the memory modules and the blue an ized fan
0:30
assembly fits most gaming systems it is
0:33
whisper quiet at 28 DB maximum and it is
0:37
uh 12vt rated with an 8vt to 13 volt
0:41
operational range so they are saying that it can be undervolted the fan spin
0:45
at 3,000 RPM and why don't we get this
0:49
box opened up I will use my handy
0:52
scissors to slice open the packaging
0:56
which did not work at all and so what I will do is I will use the scissors to
1:01
cut a little Gap in the packaging and then I will peel it back with my
1:07
hands cameraman is giving me one of those looks like what are you doing but
1:12
I don't care because I'm not accountable
1:16
to him so my phone's ringing back at my
1:20
desk but there's nothing I can do about that now here we are we have a warranty
1:24
and installation guide so it is 100% tested that means that it's not like
1:29
like 60 % tested where they test like the metal and the one fan and don't test
1:33
that fan 100% tested with an Infinity
1:37
lifetime warranty that is awesome this is the only RAM fan I've seen with a
1:41
lifetime warranty and then here's a quick
1:45
installation guide and I guess I'd better get started on uh on this
1:49
installation process so that I can actually show you how to do it on camera
1:54
before you get bored okay so we find the
1:58
which is quite wide and the camera turned off I'm not sure why the uh the
2:02
fan is got a braided sleeve on it and that is a very high quality sleeving you
2:07
can tell because you can't see the silver color of the fan wires at all you
2:11
can just see the black braided sleeving looks very nice these appear to be led
2:16
fans although I um I guess I'd Hazard a guess that they're probably blue but I
2:20
don't know for sure that the LEDs are blue but they have 1 two three four LEDs
2:25
on each fan so this is going to look quite sharp when it's installed in your
2:28
system so here let me I'll just kind of put that there and you can sort of
2:32
visualize what it's going to look like while I work on getting the clips out of
2:35
their packaging here I got one clip out
2:39
so the clips look like this these are actually really nice I I'm a little bit
2:43
surprised because unlike some of the other RAM fans I've seen they use like
2:48
quite a thick gauge of metal for the clips it's got a nice blue anodized
2:52
finish it's actually got quite a bit of glitter to it it's so it's quite sharp
2:56
looking and they've got the Kingston hyperx X in both sides sides there so
3:00
it's very Kingston branded but you kind of expect that when you buy a product
3:04
that's basically just designed to sit on top of your other Kingston product and
3:09
it's made by Kingston okay so these thumb screws come with the washers
3:13
pre-applied so someone uh is is actually
3:16
putting washers on every thumb screw before they ship these things for you
3:20
which is pretty great in my opinion because you see so many products these
3:24
days that just have sort of you know a bag of here's all the hardware oh this I
3:30
like check this out okay unlike and I'm I'm going to go ahead and call out the
3:34
Corsair one here unlike the Corsair one there's that here actually let me put
3:38
the screw in first before I say this is really good because it might be terrible
3:42
still uh hold on okay that goes in there
3:46
so there's a little washer okay so that just screws in right there and then
3:50
let's do the other side really quick so that just threads right into the top
3:54
piece oh shoot I put it in the wrong way uh-oh hold on trouble trouble
4:00
back up abort abort there there now it's
4:03
in the oh actually hold on maybe it goes here then does it go
4:08
there no no that's for the fans this goes here yeah well we'll find out one
4:12
way or another based on how short these screws are though I'm assuming it goes
4:16
kind of in the top there so I'm just going to yep there we
4:21
go get that there oh oh it went in the
4:25
other place again oh there we go I figured it out okay so this wasn't as
4:29
easy to put on the clip as it initially looked like it was going to be but I
4:33
still give Kingston kudos for having like a place where it just kind of sits
4:38
and is centered because the Corsair one is like really hard to hold in the right
4:42
place while you're trying to put it on and um that makes things a little bit
4:47
more difficult so you know I kind of
4:50
maybe what we'll do is we'll just um we'll grab a power cord from somewhere I
4:55
don't know if I have one in here and then we'll just like turn on that system
4:58
so you can see what it looks like when it's on too that would be pretty cool so
5:03
let's get this last screw put on here cameraman's getting impatient he's not
5:07
even like looking at what I'm doing anymore he's just holding the camera
5:10
he's just you know phoning it in okay so
5:14
here we've got uh a fan header right there so in order to apply this you want
5:18
to go ahead and close all of those so you put the clip over the one side of
5:22
the RAM modules here camera man come over here so you can see what I'm doing
5:25
here so you put the clip over the one side of the memory modules and then you
5:29
put the other clip over here now you can see that it's not going to sit quite
5:32
even because of the way ASUS designed these memory slots but that's not really
5:36
a big deal the hyperx fan sits quite
5:39
high up over the memory so you'd actually be able to use tall modules
5:43
whether from Kingston or or some other manufacturer without the memory fan
5:48
getting in the way so that's uh that's a pretty cool feature right there as well
5:52
so here let me see if I can find a power cord yeah I got one see look even
5:56
cameraman has uh has PC power cords lying around he's learning from the best
6:01
here so let's plug this in and then um
6:05
you know what I don't think I even have the motherboard plugged in so you're
6:08
going to have to bear with me here for just a second while I plug in the 24 pin
6:12
I wonder if that's going to be enough to get to start yeah hey that looks
6:17
terrific and here's something to be cognizant of um I got to move it over a
6:22
little bit because it was actually interfering with my CPU fan so you don't
6:26
want to move it over so far that it brushes up against the CPU youan but
6:30
that looks great on the Rampage 3 Extreme which I I wouldn't have really
6:35
expected because it's a red and black themed motherboard but you go and put
6:39
that like blue on there to go along with the blue CPU Cooler and it's uh looks
6:44
pretty cool it's blowing down a fair amount of air and uh I'll stop talking
6:47
for a minute here and let the cameraman move in close so you can hear how loud it is I'm just going to stop the CPU
6:54
fan cameraman move close so they can
6:58
hear you can't really hear it anyway because it's pretty quiet anyway there
7:02
you have it that is the hyperx fan unboxing and uh and first look and it
7:08
looks pretty good at first look thank
