0:13 Corsair is calling this the 2013 edition because they weren't planning to make
0:16 any more power supplies because the world was going to end in 2012 so they
0:22 had to kind of scramble and figure out what they were going to do when 2013
0:26 rolled around and all of a sudden they had to release new products because
0:30 uh it did the world didn't end and in fact is still very much
0:37 here that's not actually what I think happened but it's pretty funny so anyway
0:43 this is the gamer series gs700 2013 edition Corsair's gamer
0:48 series is mostly differentiated from the other products by the fact that it is
0:52 more modding friendly so you can see that a lot of the messaging on the front
0:56 of it is actually to do with there you go you can get a nice shot of that blue
1:00 LED that's inside the fan there and you've also
1:03 got nice shots of the different colors that you can set for it as well so you
1:07 can easily illuminate the fan in red white or blue which should be perfect
1:12 for our for us customers uh UK customers
1:16 Canadian customers uh who else has a red
1:20 and white and or blue sort of flag those
1:23 of you who have red white blue or any combination thereof Flags feel free to
1:28 chime in in the comments and let us know know what you think of Corsair really
1:32 taking care of your sort of national pride that you have about your power
1:37 supply uh this particular one comes with a Corsair three-year guarantee so it
1:42 doesn't have that same premium warranty coverage that's something like an ax
1:45 series power supply does but it's more of like a more of a standard warranty
1:51 and let's go ahead and pop the top open so they're using an environmentally
1:54 friendly package there's your warranty guide as well as some important safety
1:58 information uh we've got an included power cable that feels reasonably beefy
2:02 it's always nice to have that you know that reassurance of quality oh this is
2:06 kind of cool if you're ever trying to put your plug through a wall which I've
2:11 done with these before then you'll appreciate that this is the first time
2:15 I've ever really seen one that's like a low profile power supply connector that
2:19 you're able to that doesn't have like a bulky square piece behind that okay
2:22 anyway no one really cares about that I'm sorry uh zip ties as well as screws
2:26 are included for mounting it in your case there's that environmentally
2:29 friendly carton that I was talking about before and let's go ahead and pull this
2:34 bad boy out so this is a non-modular Oopsy Daisy sorry about that bu just
2:38 like smacked the camera with the uh with the power supply packaging there so it's
2:42 a non-m modular power supply making it not really suitable for the most
2:47 aesthetically pleasing builds unless you use a case that has excellent Cable
2:52 Management options um conveniently many of course s's cases have excellent Cable
2:57 Management options so you don't have to worry too much about that that it also
3:00 means that you're going to have to have this sort of rats nness to deal with and
3:05 tuck away somewhere but like I said as long as your case has that then you
3:08 shouldn't worry about it too much in terms of included connectors you've got
3:12 a 24 pin connector here you've
3:15 got what the devil is
3:19 this oh okay this is the back of a SATA connector I'll find that at some point
3:24 here and then I'll get that uh get that fixed the cable sleeving on this
3:28 particular unit isn't really anything that special it's more of a value
3:32 oriented power supply so there's a single 4 plus4 or8 pin connector so you
3:36 won't be plugging any sort of you know dual socket motherboards into it but I
3:40 don't think you were expecting to do that if you're buying a gamer series power supply you've got two PCI Express
3:47 6 plus two pin connectors so these guys right here are able to be plugged into
3:52 either a six pin or an8 pin on a graphics card making this power supply
3:56 natively compatible with pretty much a single graphicss card configuration in
4:01 terms of SATA connectors you've got two harnesses Each of which has four
4:06 connectors on it they're nice and closely spaced together this is something that I actually really like to
4:11 see so many power supply manufacturers will have them spaced kind of like one
4:15 here and one here and then you've got all this extra cable that you don't
4:19 really know what to do with because generally speaking in most cases um your
4:23 drives are either really far apart where you've got a 5 and a/4 in drive and then
4:26 like a 3 and 1/2 in drive somewhere else entirely or they're really close
4:30 together so it's nice to see that um that little piece that fell off goes on
4:34 the back of one of these connectors
4:37 somewhere or doesn't maybe it's just an extra one that like snuck into the box
4:41 see I thought it was uh I thought it was one of these that goes on the back here
4:46 you can see it is one of those but it looks like it's just a random extra one
4:49 it's a bonus but wait there's more Corsair added extra value with this
4:53 extra connector that doesn't do anything um just random I guess so two three pin
4:59 m plus floppy harnesses and relatively
5:03 short cables on these ones but generally speaking I don't find myself routing
5:06 Molex connectors very far away from the power supply anymore anyway so here we
5:11 find that single 140 mm cooling fan here
5:15 on the bottom that has aha that three-way illumination switch right
5:19 there we're going to turn this on so we'll be back in just a moment so for those of you who don't know this is how
5:22 to jump or a power supply you take the green pin connect it to any of the black
5:26 pins flip the switch
5:29 and she's on so that's the Blue version now I wish Corsair included the other
5:35 colors that you can actually that's yeah that's odd to
5:39 me that they that they don't include that huh because you can see right here
5:43 that they've clearly planned much like their Dominator platinums with the
5:47 changeable light bar module for you to be able to change that color there so
5:50 maybe there's like a kit or something I don't know but anyway let's go ahead and
5:54 press that lighting button on the back so it's right there oh yeah
6:00 white red off that's nice it's nice to
6:04 have the off option so blue white red and off just like that now you can see
6:08 the fans's not spinning it's nice to see Corsair include those kinds of Premium
6:12 features even in their more value oriented options such as the having the
6:17 fan not spin up unless the power supply is under some kind of a significant load
6:22 now it also uses again so sort of more premium features that you wouldn't
6:25 necessarily expect on a value power supply it has a single 12volt rail so
6:29 that's capable of providing up to 696 Watts which is almost the entire um
6:35 Power delivery that the entire power supply is capable of it is also rated at
6:39 temperatures of up to 40° and I don't think I ever even
6:44 mentioned the 80 plus certification so this power supply is da da da da 80 plus
6:49 bronze certified which is about what you'd expect again with sort of a value
6:53 oriented but still good quality power supply that you would buy these days so
6:59 why did I bother getting my hands on this power supply because usually I take
7:03 a look sort of at the high-end glamour products on this particular channel the
7:07 reason is that we'll be doing a build guide and when I was shopping around for
7:10 a power supply that would be appropriate for sort of a uh if you're going to go
7:14 sort of good better best for like a better class machine this one really fit
7:19 the bill it has the connectors I need it has the power output that I need it has
7:23 good looks it has that customizability and it's from Corsair so I inherently
7:29 figure it couldn't be that bad don't
7:32 forget to subscribe for L Tech tips for more unboxings reviews and other
7:35 computer videos and I'm sure Corsair are super thrilled with me saying it
7:38 couldn't be that bad about their product but hey it's not a bad thing
