0:00 Linus Tech tips coverage of computex 2013 is powered by Western Digital our
0:04 trusted gaming gear partner is Corsair Vengeance and our trusted retail partner
0:08 is nc.com hey guys I'm here at the ducky Booth I know a lot of you that know me
0:13 who's watched the live stream who's been on the Forum should have probably expected this I was pretty excited I
0:17 heard they were here at C at I almost just said CES at computex but I wasn't
0:21 sure where because I couldn't find them on any of the actual convention floors
0:25 but I hunted them down and found their site so we got up here and there's some
0:29 really coolu stuff that I'm pretty excited for first I'm not going to go way too into depth of this but this is
0:33 the ducky mini it's just the main typing Zone and it's very very cool for very
0:37 portable users there's a detachable cable on the back green backlight but I
0:41 believe you can get two different colors green and blue um believe more than that
0:45 more than that so you can get tons of different back liting colors that's awesome we're not going to spend too
0:49 much time on that though because it's very pre-production sample what I was really really excited for is the ducky
0:53 shine 3 this is the aluminium body one which is what I really really want but
0:57 they're not necessarily sure if they're going to release it make sure you comment in the comments and make sure
1:01 you Hammer their Facebook with how much you actually want an aluminum body uh
1:05 keyboard this thing is awesome it feels great it's got nice nice weight to it
1:10 because it does have aluminium body um this is their current stock space bar
1:14 although it might be changing as this is a very very early sample I not going to
1:18 spend too much time on this one because like I just said very very early sample
1:21 slide down here we get to again ducky shine 3 although with the year of the
1:26 snake space bar I'm going to kind of skip over this really really quickly
1:30 jump off to the year of the snake keyboard this one has a stock space bar
1:33 they're still not sure what space bar they're going to go for they have these
1:37 three more year the snake stylized ones that we saw here there isn't huge
1:42 differences between them this one's my current favorite um but they're just
1:45 totally awesome again comment here slam their Facebook page tell them which one
1:48 you want these are great great looking space bars great great looking keyboard
1:53 it's got the camo color all over it and
1:56 just looks absolutely awesome if that's the style of keyboard you want if you've
2:00 got a C70 or any military styled case like that that would go amazingly
2:04 amazingly well with your build nice Green Key caps back lit all the fixing
2:08 uh if we jump down here again to the ducky shine 3 as a lot of you are
2:12 probably waiting to see don't spend too much times on these they're custom caps
2:16 I just wanted to show them off because they're awesome hey guys sorry about that we're going to just jump right into
2:20 the lighting modes here so right now we're basically off then we go to the
2:23 next lighting mode gets to 60% go to the next lighting mode we get 100% full
2:28 keyboard back lighting next lighting mode this is breathing you can see it's
2:32 going quite quickly right now we can slow it all the way down to a nice
2:37 smooth paste go all the way back up to
2:40 disco level speed and just watch it go absolutely
2:44 crazy okay we're going to switch lighting modes again this is reactive
2:51 typing mode give me one second
2:56 here there we go sorry about that so this will make it bright uh light up
3:01 right away and then disappear right away this is a really cool mode I like this
3:04 on my ducky dragon that I already have if we switch to the next mode you'll see
3:08 it's very similar but now it takes a little bit of its own time to fade out
3:12 which is just absolutely awesome the only problem I had with reactive typing
3:16 mode was while you're typing by the time your finger moves away you can't
3:19 actually see the light now it actually kind of stays there for a while so if
3:23 you're typing up an absolute storm and someone's watching you you can actually
3:27 see all the keys as you're typing which is is very cool I'm obviously typing
3:31 just complete gibberish right now as I'm doing it with my left hand but that's
3:34 awesome the only complaint I've ever heard about reactive typing mode is it goes too quickly so they address that
3:39 problem very very well we going to switch here to wave mode which is also
3:44 really cool I'm going to slow it down here so you can see it better but it
3:47 just goes along the keyboard and just looks very very smooth we can make it go
3:50 really really fast again you can have a disco in your room with this keyboard
3:54 very easily we're going to switch the next mode this is snake mode it reminds
3:59 me a lot of their key mode and it just goes across the keyboard I can slow it
4:02 down again and when when the guy showing me these keyboards showed me this all I
4:07 could think of was the actual game of snake I think it would be really really
4:10 funny if they had randomly scattered lit up Keys along the keyboard and the snake
4:15 could grow as it picked them up I just think that would be hilarious although it's not practical at all and makes no
4:19 real sense I think it would be hilarious then we come back and we're back to off
4:24 so basically with shine 3 they tried to pick every single possible lighting mode
4:28 you could ever imagine actually one thing that I Mi missed was the uh delay
4:32 and delay rate which makes it so that as you hold down a key depending on how you
4:37 set it it will go up and down really really really quickly in the software so
4:41 without you tapping like this if you just hold it down you can make it go
4:44 insanely fast how ethical that is for gaming I'm not entirely sure because
4:48 you're kind of taking a cheap Advantage but that's up to you you're buying a
4:52 really nice keyboard maybe you should have that Advantage I'm not sure discuss
4:55 that in comments if you want this is pretty nuts they put every single
4:58 letting mode you could want as I said before you still have all the dip switch options you had with their previous
5:02 keyboards this is crazy a lot of you that know me know I'm completely nerding
5:06 out here another thing that I forgot to mention is there's a new uh wrist rest
5:10 that they're not sure if they're going to release as well but this looks really sharp personally I like their older
5:13 leather models more but just if you want the more plexiglass feel and you want
5:17 their awesome logo on the side you can have that as well another thing is they
5:21 now have a zero shine so basically it's a zero that comes in I believe blue and
5:24 green blue and uh orange blue and orange okay so you have blue and orange back
5:28 light zero it's only slightly more expensive as their previous zero that
5:31 wasn't back lit so all you guys that want a cheap entry-level mechanical
5:35 keyboard that has backlighting on it this is a great great option thank you
5:39 for joining me at the ducky booth and if you want to see all of our comex content
