0:08 now this guys this is the ly little big disc this is a Thunderbolt external
0:13 storage device from obviously L and it
0:17 has two Thunderbolt ports which means it is compatible with daisy chaining this
0:20 particular configuration uses ssds 240 gigs worth of Intel ssds to
0:27 achieve just beastly speed and right
0:30 speed so let's have a look at what lissy has to say for themselves speeds up to 10 gbit per second macOS raid Z or 1 so
0:37 you can configure whatever's in there however you want dual ports dual cooling
0:41 fan and passive aluminum heat sinky thing going on here and uses Intel solid
0:46 state drives what else we got here so protocols PCI Express data video dual
0:51 mode DisplayPort remember guys um Thunderbolt can pass through a display
0:55 port signal so you can plug into this and then plug out of this into display
1:00 port monitor here it says a fair bit okay 10 GB per second 10 GB per second
1:05 10 GB per second and 10 GB per second if you didn't gather it already it is
1:08 capable of up to 10 GB per second you can uh daisy chain up to six Thunderbolt
1:13 technology compatible devices preconfigured in a raid zero stripe for
1:16 ultimate performance so if you were using this as a scratch disc or
1:19 something where you need Extreme Performance in an external drive say you
1:23 have a laptop that use for video editing or photo editing for example this is the
1:27 solution to your problem power mode cables technology active copper active
1:32 copper cables are purchased separately remember guys Thunderbolt requires
1:35 active cables which means there are actual processors inside each end of the
1:39 cable in order to pass through the signal all right performance comparison
1:44 this is all theoretical of course but Thunderbolt technology basically just
1:48 rips apart everything else because it is dramatically faster okay you can daisy
1:53 chain a bunch of devices in a row and then finally output to a monitor with
1:56 DisplayPort so Thunderbolt Thunderbolt Thunderbolt DisplayPort and the Dual
2:00 cooling with heat SN and fan is going to be fairly evident once we open it up so
2:04 this isn't the first time this particular product has been opened because this is a demo unit that we're
2:08 taking a look at For an upcoming NC Tech tips about Thunderbolt wow this thing's
2:13 heavy it's actually pretty nice looking got a little like blue eye thing going
2:17 on in the front one eye and then um
2:20 we've got a cooling fan in the back two Thunderbolt ports a Kenington lock as
2:24 well as power you can see the uh the ribbed texture here on the heat sink
2:29 that definitely makes it uh cooler to
2:33 use if nothing else
2:37 okay so in terms of accessories we've
2:40 got a variety of different uh International plugs that it comes with
2:45 so this is clearly an international version we've also got wow check this out this is also made of uh presumably
2:50 aluminum although some kind of metal for sure and it slides in from the
2:56 back does not slick way to go okay well we'll figure it out give me a sec here
3:00 guys so it comes with screws so you just take out the included ones put this on
3:04 here plug in the included screws with the included Allen key and then it'll
3:08 sit on this handy little stand that looks very nice very professional
3:13 looking right what else we got here okay
3:17 active Thunderbolt cable not included but ours has one just because uh we need
3:21 one for the demo we're going to be doing so uh yeah that does that doesn't come
3:25 with it that's not part of the unboxing ignore that part all right power adapter
3:31 and finally oh okay that will need so that
3:36 goes there that one actually does slide
3:40 in there presumably in order to you know
3:44 do something good oh I see you don't actually have to
3:48 take out those other ones you just screw that into there and then the whole thing
3:51 is slide inable aable cuz I guess it was probably a lot more expensive to make
3:56 out of a solid piece of metal something with a flare on the end I can see that
4:00 okay all right I guess that's a pretty good solution then you can see I can
4:04 shake this to get something out of it because it doesn't have mechanical dries inside so I'm kind of tempted to open
4:09 this up just because uh otherwise you know we're not going to see how sexy it
4:12 is inside so give me a second here guys so we're undoing the last screw here and
4:16 uh let's take these out oh wow these are pretty long it's
4:21 almost like they're compensating for something here we go one two three oh
4:26 okay let's be careful with this and four
4:30 so uh oh the front comes off okay you
4:34 can see the Intel SSD is loaded in there so let's uh oh okay more screws we got
4:40 to undo these ones too I guess so those um are attached right
4:46 there and one and
4:53 two and
4:56 uh okay ah there we go
5:05 H and there we go all right so this is
5:09 the inside of the little big disc so there's your two Thunderbolt ports
5:14 there's your cooling fan that's installed there's your 120 gig Intel 320
5:20 Series ssds so these are modern Intel ssds um there's your front LED as well
5:25 as your front switch which oh no that's
5:28 not a front switch that must be like a some kind of a hard reset or something like that so we're not going to touch
5:33 that um yeah I think that's pretty much it not much else to say so this drive is
5:38 attached here I mean if you wanted to change the drives you could which is kind of cool very simple looks like
5:43 there's some kind of beefy like chipset thing going on under there but we're not
5:47 going to take it apart any more than that thank you for checking out our unboxing and
5:51 complete disassembly of the the see
5:54 little big disc and don't forget to subscribe to L Tech tips for more
5:57 unboxings reviews and other computer videos and the the reason we have such
6:01 high-end ssds in here so that we can properly showcase the performance of
6:05 which Thunderbolt is capable sorry guys we have to clarify
6:09 something to turn the device on you do have to press on this right here
