0:18 hey guys we're here at the Ubuntu Booth I thought I'd cover this because lanus likes his iPhone way too much um and
0:24 we're just here to check out a demo so if you can show me how the phone goes
0:27 sure so this is Ubuntu phone and we'll
0:30 start by showing you our welcome screen we don't like to call it a lock screen
0:34 because we want to welcome you to your phone and what we've done here is this
0:38 is an infographic of things about you so
0:41 this infographic will dynamically change throughout the day based on your social
0:46 media feeds to kind of give you a visual representation of things about you okay
0:51 so the color the intensity of the colors around the circles are is going to
0:54 change depending on what social media groups you have messages in and whatnot
0:58 exactly correct very cool very cool so this is Ubuntu uh this is not a port of
1:03 Ubuntu this is the same operating system that runs on your desktop or in the
1:07 cloud right and uh as you see here from the left this is actually the unity
1:12 launcher yeah okay so let's go ahead and
1:16 get into the phone here so the first thing I'll show you is our home screen
1:20 so this is our Unity home lens and this
1:24 is a dynamic lens that will change throughout the day as well as you do
1:28 frequently used apps your missed calls New Media that you may add to the phone
1:33 Etc our apps lens which is your
1:36 currently running applications your installed apps and even apps available
1:41 for download from our app store right and you guys will have a dedicated
1:44 button for that on release I'm assuming exactly right perfect so let's go ahead
1:49 and uh and launch an application
1:52 okay so I'll launch our native photo
1:55 gallery app and what we've tried to do our design philosophy here is is you'll
2:00 notice we have no physical buttons or no hard buttons uh or no soft buttons I've
2:05 noticed a lot of awesome swiping action so far exactly we want to be completely
2:08 gesture based right so if you notice here the whole screen is available for
2:13 your content but if you use Swipe up from the bottom of the screen you'll
2:17 notice that we have control buttons on demand because you typically don't need
2:21 them so why have them always be there of
2:24 course that makes sense yeah that's very cool uh is there any multitasking cas
2:29 capabilities or anything of the phone that you can show us exactly so we use
2:33 the left Edge for launching apps the bottom Edge for controls and the right
2:38 edge here would be to actually switch between running applications so this is
2:43 the way you would do multitasking very very cool very cool very quick very adds
2:47 a lot to the fluidity of the phone that's very awesome I like that so then
2:51 how do you get back home to the unity screen it would be one quick gesture
2:55 across the screen and that brings you back home very cool so those are the
2:59 three edges we have one other edge here which is the top Edge and this if I use
3:04 is allows me to get at all the settings within the phone from anywhere
3:09 throughout the uh just go along the top
3:12 there yeah see how it selects different things as he swipes it across so you
3:16 pull down and then go left and right very Swip tastic awesome and you can
3:19 just reply call someone back uh right in
3:22 line here without ever having to leave what you're doing on the phone so so
3:27 many times you've probably been on your phone oh how do I turn off BL bluetoo or
3:30 how do I get back to a setting well they're all right here for you at your
3:33 fingertips at all time right now this isn't based on Android so what kind of
3:38 phones are we going to see this available on so we're currently talking to a ton of Manufacturers right now I
3:43 can't say any right now but later in the year you'll you'll be seeing handsets
3:46 come out that's awesome what phone is it being developed uh shown on right now
3:50 right so this is the Galaxy Nexus or the Nexus 3 right uh which is the
3:55 development phone from Google all right very cool development here guys we're
3:59 finally seeing another big player in the smartphone market it's very nice speaking with you thank you subscribe to
